Where to start? Food is descent. Chicken is really good and fries are okay but oily. Would I recommend this to someone? Sure but just not this location. The workers lack professionalism. They are loud, and have no sense of urgency. We were the only customers in the restaurant and we obviously we're waiting on our meal. They took their sweet time putting our meals together while talking to others. Customer service is disappointing especially since this place does have potential to be even more successful. Whoever is the restaurant manager/owner, you need to consider a different way of training your workers. Really sets the mood off. read more

So, I have only been to Ezell's twice. First time was about a year ago. My wife and I not overly impressed. I got an 8 piece with 50/50 spicy and regular and some sides. Wasn't really great, and I was expecting much more, since I had been hearing nothing but great things. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS! IT'S AWESOME! BEST CHICKEN EVER! Not so much. Second time, just yesterday (11/8/16), never again. Got an 8 piece with biscuit, no sides. Lady that helped me hardly acknowledged that I existed (nothing but canned responses, and I don't think she ever actually looked at me, not once). Worst customer service ever. I had the feeling I was being addressed in a manner that was more or less, "Buy dis stuff, and get the hell out, cause I ain't got time fer you". The only reason I went here was because it was late (after 19:00), and Safeway had stopped making fresh chicken at that time, and it was on my way home. I wanted an 8 piece DARK. Can't get that at Ezell's. Maybe update your menu a bit. Or hey, not. Business doesn't matter, right? Anyway, paid over $20 for it ($8 for an 8 piece dark at Safeway by the way) Got home, and hell.... I didn't even know what part of the damn chicken I was eating. Deformed chicken parts in the container, wings that were I don't know, maybe thighs? I really have no idea what part of the chicken I was actually eating. None of the bones even corresponded to what I normally know as chicken pieces. The only part I could figure out was the leg, and they were small and weird looking (maybe you need to reassess where you get your chicken from, if a customer is eating "mystery parts"). The taste well.... whatever. Dry chicken (and I do mean dry. I think what was a thigh (remember, I couldn't actually identify what part I was eating) looked and tasted like a dry breast. I really don't know what part I was eating), over cooked breading, and not all that flavorful. Today (day after I bought it), I stripped the breading off the remaining chicken (6 pieces, and I still was not sure what part), stripped the chicken into a bowl, added mayo, and made a chicken salad sandwich for my wife and I. Added some Johnny's Seasoning Salt, and that was not bad. About the only thing the chicken is good for. I hate KFC. With a passion. But I would take KFC over Ezell's any day. KFC gives me craps, but at least it tastes good, so I will eat it. Ezell's doesn't even even taste good. Honestly, I would take Safeway/Albertsons (yes, they are the same company, and use the same recipe) over KFC any day, and Definitely over Ezell's. I will NEVER patronize any Ezell's establishment again. Crap-tastic customer service, poor product, and WAY overpriced. Whoever Ezell is..... she should be shockingly ashamed to have her name on this chicken, AND this business. read more

After reading all these reviews, I am left wondering if being asked to wait for chicken is a norm in this place. Several evenings ago I went to get a 4-piece meal. I was told all the chicken was already accounted for but I could wait 30-minutes if I wanted to. I then asked if they had chicken tenders and if I had to wait. She said no, so I ordered a pound of chicken tenders. While I sat and waited, three people came in after me, ordered chicken dinners and left. I finally stood up and asked where was my order. They didn't know?! By this time, I already waited 30 minutes. If I didn't think the incompetent staff would mess up my credit card, I would've asked for a refund. I finally got my order, probably someone else's because the number on the lid was not mine. One star for the staff. Five stars for Randy who fixed my order the next day. Lesson: when they tell you you can't have chicken in a chicken restaurant or you have to wait 30 minutes, take that as your clue to turn around and walk out the door. read more

I love the food its awesome. However Michaela (frontline employee and the FIRST FACE OF YOUR COMPANY) needs intense Customer service training. When we came in she was already in another altercation with a customer. The attitude carried into the next 7 or so customers and even carried into a verbal sparring match with the line cook who was only trying to help her get caught back up. I even heard her tell a customer in the store "I'm in a bad mood today-deal with it". While I will come back for the food, if I see her in I will immediately leave and take my business to Popeyes a block down the road. read more

The food is freaking amazing!!! The customer service sucks!! If you can get them off their cell phones, they'll actually take your order. However, if you're more patient than me, you won't regret the food itself. Also, two ranch dips for an entire pound of chicken strips is not nearly enough. Should come with at least three. Don't bother coming here, customer service is terrible. Always out of livers so I ordered chicken strips, they came out without any batter on them and when I complained they said that is normal so I pointed to the picture of the food on the wall showing crispy strips they had no answer. read more

Ezell's Famous Chicken - Southern Near Me - Kent, Washington

Been coming here for over a year now and the staff always welcomes me on sight and the quality is still there. The chicken is less greasy than KFC but has wonderful flavor and their roles are like crack. My favorite dish is the spicy chicken tenders. They are moist and hot and real tenders not the over sized ones you see everywhere else. The breading is not dry. it is moist but not soggy. read more

Comfort food! This is real southern cooking. I have seen the previous reviews that are down on the tenders and the original style. For you folks I'll reveal the secret of Ezell's - don't eat those! The magic is in the spicy chicken; the tenders are intended for the kids, the mild original is a nod to the weak of palette. Go for the magic! Take heartburn meds later if you have to, but you gotta try it. I agree the side items started out rough, but they have improved since opening. The fried okra took me right back to Texas; those of you that know fried okra will understand the perfection of light crunchy breading over tender okra slices. Their yeast rolls could have been made in a relative's kitchen, very light and just sweet enough. We still eat here weekly and I have to add an extra bike riding day to balance out the calories. This restaurant has the worst customer service I've ever experienced waited 40 mins for an order to go, thought maybe they were having a bad day so I gave it a second chance and I still waited 25 min the 2nd time. At the Kent location be prepared for a long wait if it's dinner time. I've had several instances where I've had to wait more than 30 minutes for an order. I drive for door dash and one day while waiting for white meat to cook, appears somebody didn't tell the cook or he forgot, something! I've been here several times and it's always been pretty good but yesterday I went in at 7:45 and ordered 2- 3 piece meals and was told it would be 20 minutes. One half hour later at 8:15 I went up to the counter and I was told the cooks decided they weren't going to put any more chicken in the fryer for the evening! What restaurant quit cooking their main food an hour and 15 minutes before they close?!?. I wasted all that time and could've been there longer if I hadn't gone up and checked in. We were at a Track meet across the street at the High School and got a coupon for 3 pieces for $5.99. Took my son and girlfriend, and got two orders. Place was nice and clean, tables were clean, a definite plus (so was the bathroom). Guy taking my order was brand new, but the manager was right over his shoulder making sure our order was right. Took about ten minutes for the food, but at least it was hot and fresh. Our chicken (original) was crispy (although I though it was bit small, that's why I took a star) and the fries were hot. Due to the time it took for our order, we changed from eating it in the car and decided to grab one of the clean tables I mentioned. So I went today for the first time. I got two piece combo dinner. Dark and spicy. My sides were Mac and cheese and baked beans. The Mac and cheese was good at first and the. I got into the middle and it tasted like plastic. The beans were ok. They tasted too much like vinegar for some reason. The chicken was ok also. There was more skin on the chicken than meat. And I ordered spicy and tasted none at all. Over all I was expecting more. The costumer service was good though. I do want to go back and try the peach cobbler. read more

Big Zero (000) for the KENT store! I don't ever get what I ordered. I feel that the people who were serving me in the Kent Ezell's, were passive aggressive, and purposely gave me the opposite of what I ordered. This has happened to me, every time I've been a patron at the Kent store. (I hope that it's not because I wear a camo jacket and camo hat!) And Why would that even matter? And why would people even judge a person like that? I've been going to Ezell's for years, and in many different locations. It's because I love their spicy chicken. "In my opinion, it's the best!" If anyone were looking for the best fried chicken in AMERICA, I would say, " Go to Ezell's Famous Chicken, BUT DON'T EVER GO TO THE KENT, WASHINGTON STORE, YOU WON'T BE TREATED FAIRLY". If you do go to the Kent store, I would suggest that you Check your order, before you leave their store. Tasted different from KFC, but it's really just fried chicken. Nothing super special that's good about it. My experience has always been pretty bad, but I'm prepared to chalk that up to timing; I always seem to stop by half an hour before closing. Everything ends up dry, the mashed potatoes gritty and flavorless (or else out of stock, because that's a thing that's OK for a restaurant to do on a regular basis), the place tired and sweaty. I bet if you walked in at 11 AM you'd get some damn fine chicken but I'll let you know when that happens for me. That said, the inevitable comparison to KFC must be tempered not by the nostalgic or idealized KFC, but the degraded KFC of today whose halls are stalked by an ashamed apparition of the Colonel. I came here in mid 2 L8 Aug. It was the week it opened. I arrived about the same time as 30 other people who were placing orders. I knew I wasn't going anywhere 4 awhile..except maybe insane! I ordered the large chicken strips box & I think the mashed potatoes side & a large drink. I must've stood there 4 almost an hour. People who came in after me were getting their orders & going home 2 eat while I stood there waiting, famished. Finally 1 of the girls working the counter helped me. I gave her my receipt/ order number & she filled the order right away. She felt bad so she offered me a free dessert. I decided on the peach pie & she gave me 2. I ordered some chicken strips with a side of mashed potatoes accompanied by a biscuit. The biscuit was the first thing gone! Man, it was good! The potatoes aren't bad but they're lacking gravy. The chicken tenders were good too! But it reminded me all too much of Church's Chicken. The girl that took my order wasn't the friendliest and the lobby was quite dirty. Place is dirty, staff is cool and a little ghetto but that's not really the issue. I go in 30 mins before the place closes and they tell me that we are out of chicken. No sign saying so just a staff probably unwilling to make food because it was close to closing. It's OK I know that there are better chicken places that serve there customers.
