I am so pumped right now after finding this place. Tried it tonight on a whim and do not regret it. Ordered take out, walked in, and Sinatra was playing softy -- what a start! The 6-7 tables were packed with older couples having a romantic Saturday night out. Bartender and waitress were very nice. Now the food... 1. Toasted Ravioli - Good, hot, flavorful 2. Canoloni - Wow, probably the best I can remember 3. Sausage and Pepperoni pizza - mind altering. The meats were noticeably fresh. Please note that you have to like STL style pizza (i.e., provel cheese) to like this pizza. This place is a find, and I went out of my way to review Failoni's now rather than waiting. Disclaimer: I haven't eaten here...this 5-star review comes strictly from the great time I had there last night. My friend and I arrived at Failoni's to watch another friend's brother's (did you get that?) band play. The band was on a break when we got there and some, what I thought was, Frank Sinatra was playing. The place was packed! We found my friend who quickly started telling me about the place and said, "That's Alex singing!" Alex, the bartender (and I think owner?) was behind the bar singing Sinatra. He was incredible. He did a few more songs (and I was fooled a couple more times...completely thought it was the original artists). The band started playing again and they were rocking. We had so much fun dancing. The atmosphere was different from what I'm used to....the crowd was about 85% over 40. My friend and I are 22 and 30 (respectively), so I was kind of surprised by how much fun we had with that group. We called ourselves "cougars in training." One of our new dancing friends told us to "Watch out for the old guys....unless they have money." I loved it....there wasn't pressure to look or act super cute, we just danced our asses off and had fun! Everyone there was just letting loose and having a good time, inhibitions aside. It was great! The food is always Fabulous. Mama Failoni's marinated olive appetizer is worth the trip on its own, and the pizza is true St. Louis style and excellent. Everybody who works here is family, and they are into 4th generation of the original owners. And they treat all of their customers as part of their family. We had our rehearsal dinner here for about 50 guests and it was amazing! Joey was incredibly helpful and flexible, let us come in to decorate, and personalize the evening to make it our own. The food was great!!! Everyone couldn't get enough of the toasted raviolis and chicken wings. The pizza was also a big hit, everyone left feeling satisfied. The service staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant had sound equipment available for toasts and a friend of ours who played the guitar. They also had karaoke available for our guests which made the night unique with a casual and fun vibe. My family said we didn't have a rehearsal "dinner" we had a rehearsal "party". Everyone had a great time. I would highly recommend this for private events as it has wonderful staff, space, food, and fun!!! Plus, it was very reasonably priced for the services we received. Good pizza in a south side institution. I think the same people have been coming here since they opened and they just keep adding new generations. No it's not a young crowd but the beer is still cold and the pizza is great. Plus find another spot in STL where you can here Sinatra and Backstreet Boys from the singers in the restaurant on Friday nights. The main guy singing is the most stereotypical lounge/cruise ship singer ever, but I'll be dammed if it's not fun to sing along. read more

Excellent service. Love the pizza. Tuesday & Wednesday buy one get second half priced. Good selection of beers on draft. Split greek salad with the wife. I'm a picky salad eater and I had no complaints about how fresh it was. It was like they just picked the lettuce fresh from the garden. Dressing was perfect, not drowning or the opposite did they remember to put it on. As I said picky salad eater. Pizza baked in a brick oven had a great crispy crust. Topping were generous. Can't wait to try the other offerings on the menu after seeing what the other customers ordered that all looked delicious. When people's food arrived there was a change of conversation to how good the food was. No complaints. read more

Stopped in here last night for a taste of some St. Louis pizza with my coworkers from Los Angeles. The food was great and what a super community atmosphere. The pizza and toasted ravioli were just what we were looking for. The service was terrific and the waitress was friendly and so efficient. If you are from St. Louis and have never been here, you are missing out. And if you are from out of town, give this place a try. Enjoy a family-owned, friendly restaurant with great food that cares about customer service. Nice to know that places like this still exist! read more

Failonis is our absolute favorite restaurant!! The family that runs it is the sweetest and most hard working family I have ever met. My husband and I usually get an appetizer and the Failonis deluxe is our must! They load the pizza up with toppings and it is always nice and crispy on the bottom. We really like their calamari and their wings, but if there is one thing that you HAVE TO GET... THE CHEESECAKE!!!! No matter how full I am I have to get a slice it is amazinggggg! Failoni's is fantastic! The food is amazing, the service is great, the atmosphere is charming and they even have Frank Sinatra style entertainment (at least on Friday nights). I'd also like to note that when I looked Failoni's up on Yelp, I got the impression that it was not a child friendly environment...that is decidely NOT the case. We took our just turned 2 year old son there and not only did the staff go out of their way to make friends with him, he was not bothered by the noise or anything else...he enjoyed himself. We will definitely be going back to Failoni's. read more

Yelp has never misled me so hilariously and agonizingly. I'm 18 years old and walked into what I believed to be a casual Italian restaurant/bar; instead, the moment I step foot inside, there are about 50 40-year-olds dancing in a danky bar area to what youth my age would call ratchet music. So I awkwardly sit down at a table and I tell the waitress I'll take a Coke. She brings it to me but doesn't return. Five minutes pass, so I go up to the counter to ask her for a dinner menu. She says, "Sorry, the kitchen's closed." Well that sucks. It was a little after 11 p.m., and one of the only reasons I chose to drive several miles from my university was because Yelp listed it as open until 1 a.m. I told the waitress, "Okay, I'll just get the Coke then," assuming she'd apologize for the misunderstanding and give me the drink free of charge. Nope. So I'm siting in this dive bar with people 2-3x my age, and I'm drinking a Coke that cost me $3. Go to this place if what I've described sounds appealing; I just wish the website and Yelp reviews hadn't been so misleading. I hope I can try the pizza sometime. read more

Great Italian fare in a friendly neighborhood corner bar setting! We had the pasta carbonara and a pizza and both were absolutely excellent. The pasta was perfectly cooked and loaded with bacon and huge chunks of mushroom. As others have noted the pizza is excellent St. Louis thin style, but without the heavy provel taste of Imos and the like. Pricing might seem a bit high given the decor, but trust me it is worth it! read more

This is a net little dive / geriatric meat market. If there is a young person in this place they are out with their parents or grandparents. Since I have grand kids I actually like this place. Very relaxing. Great prices and Service. You can't go wrong. read more

A very local neighborhood bar where i'm guessing over 90% of the business are regular customers. My first(only) visit had the eggplant parmagian burnt to almost unedible. The meat lovers pizza had the crust burnt black on about 1/2 of it. I've tasted better pizza. The toasted ravioli looked and tasted like most in St Louis which are a perfect square. Not made in-house i'm sure. The best part of the visit was the entertainment where the owner sings. He has a terrific voice and does everthing from opera to country. His mother also sang a few song - or attempted to. Interesting place but I wouldn't recommend going back read more

We have not been to Failoni's in years but it is definitely one of my favorite places to go and have a couple of drinks and listen to wonderful music on Thursdays. The people there treat you just like you are a part of their family. Love the friendliness of all the people working and conversation with the people you meet. read more
