Awful! I got a Chicken Souvlaki salad to go and it was the saddest, most pathetic looking salad I have ever had- I was shocked when I got home...AND it was 13 bucks! It came with a small amount of lettuce, ONE sad slice of unripe tomato, a sprinkle of feta and onion sliced sooooo thin it was like two strings. The chicken and potatoes were served in another container and there were about 6 thinish slices of chicken and Greek potatoes. No dill sauce or tzatziki sauce given. I would never ever ever ever ever ever ever return here. Even if they decided to give a better portion, it would just end up being more gross food to throw away. I have gone to the Family Tree for years and each year the food quality and service has gone down hill. They are at a all-time low right now. The food is mediocre and the service is terrible. My waitress never followed up after delivering food. I needed hot sauce, an extra plate for my son and more coffee. When I questioned a girl standing around doing nothing about more coffee she said "you do??" and said she had to find my server to give me coffee when she was standing next to the pots. It seems they don't offer refills anymore because I didn't see anyone walking around with a pot. Are there no refills? read more

This place was filled with so many senior citizens I thought I was in an old person's home. I ordered the feta and spinach omelette for $5.25 and it was filling enough for lunch. Family Tree was one of the first restaurants I tried in Buffalo. It reminds of me a Denny's for an even older crowd (hence the name?). The food we tried was okay and the highlight was really the Baklava, which I find to be better than Falafel Bar's version. read more

We stumbled here after shopping at Walmart on a weekday. I was in mood for Greek food and this was closest. Firstly, there is nice tree in the Center of the restaurant. The white Zinfandel was very crisp. My husband and I decided to share a souvlaki. The pieces of chicken were cooked thoroughly and very yummy. Side of home fries was not greasy. My family and I have been coming to Family Tree for years. Not only is it locally owned but it has that absolute family diner feel to it. Service is nothing but fantastic. Placed a pickup order and it was ready in 15 minutes. They've raised prices slightly but hey a business has to make money somehow. I would not recommend this restaurant. I was recently there with a large group and I was extremely unhappy with the service. The waiter appeared to have a chip on his shoulder and our orders were mixed up. I also was not happy with the upkeep of the restaurant. Stopped by for brunch on my last visit home. The parking lot was absolutely packed but there was tons of space available inside . It's definitely a quaint place. I ordered a small orange juice but they gave me and charged me for a large. The orange juice was also too pulpy and sour for my taste.. but my omelet was pretty good. However they won't let you substitute anything for sausage or bacon.. not even french fries when it prob cost less than the meat. The parking lot was full, so we thought we'd have to wait a really long time.. but the place is huge was only half full and we got seated right away. Our family 'Go To' restaurant several times a year... Pot Roast dinner is by far one of the better that you'll ever experience - generous portion that will be difficult to consume without taking some home in a box... Broiled scallops dinner as good as any that you'll find outside of New England - in particular Maine... Greek salad and potatoes are also excellent... Went there for a church dinner with 19 other people. We were seated right away and the waitress took our drink order while we waited for the rest of our group. Service was a little slow and only got worse from there. When our whole group arrived we kept getting our food and drinks in small amounts. I was finished with my dinner before my wife even got hers. It was a Monday night and I think they only had one or two servers for the whole restaurant even though we had reservations for a while. I said I was finished but really only ate a little. I ordered a Greek omelet with gyro meat and homefries and wheat toast. The gyro meat was almost like seasoned ground beef and the potatoes were overlooked and tasteless I never did get my toast. Met a friend here for lunch today. It took a little too long for the hostesses and manager to stop their discussion and seat us. Our waitress was attentive. I ordered the spinach & feta omelette with toast and home fries. Lots of spinach and feta, but one end the omelette was over cooked and the other was under cooked. Not sure how that is even possible. Home fries were so-so. Girlfriend ordered the open souvlaki. It all looked very fresh and she said it was good, but $12 is a little pricey. I ordered the $15.00 steak (medium well), mashed potatoes and chicken soup. When my meal came, the steak was RARE, and the mash potatoes room temperature. I asked for the steak to be put pack on the grill, and the taters microwave. When the steak came back, it tasted like rubber and was loaded with fat(about 4oz of the 12oz steak). This was recommended by some Buffalo locals so maybe I just had a bad visit; HOWEVER, my experience was terrible. I ordered the Honey Fried Chicken dinner. The chicken Came to the table looking so good; it had a nice crispy skin with a light aroma of honey. A half chicken cut up into a breast, wing, drum, and thigh filled the plate. I immediately grabbed the thigh and tore it open (I always tear open chicken before biting into it so I can make sure its cooked), and the inside had spots of pink and red. Yes, it was undercooked. Not only was the chicken not done, it was still cold on the inside. It seemed like they tried to cook the chicken while it was frozen and pulled it out of the oil when the outside looked done. The server was understanding and took it back and brought me the taco salad, which was extra salty. I think maybe I just had a bad visit, but I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. My fiancé ordered some fish with a tomato sauce on it, and that tasted like fish with chunky spaghetti sauce on top. I hope your experience is better than ours! The food in this place is amazingly delicious. We were on vacation here and a friend suggested it. If you like fried chicken you will really enjoy their honey fried chicken. The mashed potatoes were from scratch. The pot roast and beef roast just as delicious and large portion. They also have rice if you prefer, very good also. Their soups really good. My husband had the pastrami sandwich and he could only eat half, it was piled high. And don't forget their awesome deserts, cream pies, cake, cheesecakes, etc. There are many food choices. Nausea sets in... but you are neither car sick nor hungover... you are still intoxicated from the night before. Upon arrival, you ask for Tabitha, the best waitress East of the Mississippi. As you move through the fully packed dinning room, there under the light is your 6 top. Fully stocked with pitchers of water and coffee and not one menu on the table. You know what you order, so does Tabitha. Before you can even ask how she has been since yesterday morning your food is dropped. 15 minutes later, the best damn breakfast $9 can buy is staring back at you like your grandma after you've had a few to many at the yearly Christmas party. read more

Even though there are vegetarian options, albeit limited (and, by the way, tuna salad isn't vegetarian unless one is a pescatarian), so when I got the two eggs, homefries and wheat toast, the waitress asked me if I wanted ham, sausage or bacon. I mentioned I was vegetarian so chose none of the options. When she came back before bringing our food, I asked her if I couldn't get some (one or two) grape leaves, she said she'd ask. Apparently there are no substitutions. Awesome. The food was alright, I guess. Toast was soggy with butter. Homefries were alright. Oh yeah, and the coffee was $1.59 with only ONE refill upon your request! Sheesh.... choosing this place over Amy's was a mistake. This is a wonderful place to eat! Liver & Onions one of my favorites. Always numerous specials and often very busy- a good indicator. Another favorite open chicken slavaki, absolutely delicious. Good soups and many American dishes as well. It's really hard to think of any dish that is not super delicious. One try - you'll be back! Called for takeout and the employee on the phone was just unknowledgeable, she had to place me on hold every time I asked a question because she didnt know. She gave me wrong information. My food was HORRIBLE I ordered a seafood platter with salmon and greek potatoes. The potatoes were cold and canned. No herbs or spices what so ever. Nothing. They also sent a half of piece of fish ..not salmon that I ordered but the tail piece of a haddock. No flavor everything was bland. Worse $20 I have ever spent. Totally disappointed read more
