We had the Pick 3 meat option which comes with 2 sides (we selected the Famous Fries and Sweet Corn), it also comes with a corn bread muffin. Our 3 meat choices were (from most to least favorite): 1) Burnt Ends: No fat at all, pretty tasty 2) Smoked Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage: It was pretty good too and 3) Georgia chopped pork: I really didn't enjoy this one since it had a lot of fat and the meat was nothing spectacular. We had a wonderful going away get together for two friends that are leaving the area. The restaurant followed all city Covid protocols limiting the number of people in a group. I have been here too many times and figured it was time for a review. The restaurant has great service and many times the staff goes above and beyond especially during the busy lunch rush. I have nothing but high praise for the waiters and waitresses. The food and the selections of BBQ sauce is great! I have no complaints. Be sure to try one of the six if not all of the flavors. Figure out which ones you like best. They range from mild to hit with a few in the middle as well as sweet. You can go by yourself or in a large party. Either one works out fine. read more

We stay next door to this establishment, and for years I've passed it up for Vietnamese noodles and chicken wings. This time I was walking by trying to decide, and it smelled good so I tried Famous Dave's to go. It's nice and clean, and most staff were friendly. I will say that my crew dined in, and as they walked in the staff were all congregated at the bar. They said they could smell alcohol on the staff, and they seemed a little inebriated. Anyway, I got my food (burnt ends sandwich). It was definitely loaded full of meat, and smelled good, but upon biting in they were nothing more than chewy ends, and soggy bread. As I ate it I thought of ways to make a better review via the potato salad. It was a mayonnaise type but had zero flavor. The only reason I didn't give two stars is because the friendliness of the to go lady working at the time of my visit. Seems that Famous Dave's shouldn't be so famous anymore. This was my first visit to this Famous Dave's since moving to El Paso. I expected the same food as all the other Famous Dave's... I was with a large group for a work event and I have to say this is not the venue you want to choose. It was extremely loud and we weren't the only large group in the room. I ordered the salmon with Mac and cheese and another side that I can't even remember right now. The salmon was good but the sides weren't good at all. Our waitress was very attentive even with the large group of people and she did a good job of addressing our needs in a timely manner. I'm not much into the chain restaurants so I probably won't be coming back. There are many other great places to eat in El Paso and I would rather support those than a typical chain restaurant with mediocre food. read more

FOOD: It was good, BUT some of my brisket was room temperature and a mix of meat and fat. My burnt ends were not cold, but it wasn't hot either and most of the pieces were mostly fat. Normally I wouldn't complain BUT brisket and burnt ends are extra. So it would be nice if they offered lean (no fat) vs moist (with fat). My husband's food was not served hot either. Not sure if Famous Dave's needs to invest in food warming ovens or heat lamps, but it was disappointing. SERVICE: She was a really nice person. However, she disappeared for a long time as well as forgot to bring a drink order. When she finally materialized, I reminded her we were waiting on her to bring the drink, to which she said, "Oh yes!", and dashed off, only to return and ask, "What was it again?". At that point, we were disillusioned and cancelled the drink order. We found ourselves with waitress envy as all the other tables around us were getting exceptional service by the other wait staff. Our waitress seemed to kick it into gear finally, but it was at the end of our visit. We noticed a table next to us get up and leave after waiting for a while for someone to engage them. They were sat with menus and then....crickets. No one came to get their order for anything. AMBIANCE: The ambiance is cool. Team is friendly. Probably won't come back. I've eaten at BBQ restaurants all over the country and my favorites are usually in the south where pork ribs are sacred. I am cured of Famous Dave's as of tonight after ordering the full baby slab platter from the Airway Boulevard location. Even though a local warned me off, I didn't listen, to my regret. These ribs are the toughest, chewiest, stringiest I have ever come across. Really, I've had boiled ribs in a institutional cafeteria that were more enjoyable. Terrible. What's worse than a ruined meal? Knowing that some poor hog gave his life only to be mistreated like this. Respect the meat. Stay away from this restaurant. read more

Not sure who is managing this place but it is obvious they are doing a horrible job. Ordered an Ultra draft and they had the wrong keg connected to the tap that they could not correct so I had to order a different draft. Ordered a simple grilled chicken salad and the chicken was cooked to death and dry. We requested ranch... they were out of ranch. The croutons were stale and chewy. There were several trays of trash from bussed tables that sat on the end of bar the entire time we sat and watched the NFL game. It's a Thursday night and they are totally dead. No ones here. Mean while, next door at the Chop House is packed, bar full and on an hour wait. In fact that is the only reason we came to Famous Dave's bc we could not get a bar seat at West Texas Chophouse. Nice atmosphere, not too bad to watch a game at the bar. I have enjoyed a game here before. Ordered the 2 meat ( brisket and pulled pork) with a side of green beans. As a precursor, they brought out a side of homemade chips to use to sample the different bbq sauces. Great idea since they have 6 different unique sauces to sample. Settled on a combination of Devils Spit and Wilber's Revenge. The brisket definitely needed it. The meat lacked smoke flavor and spice and was a little dry. Pulled pork was tender but also lacked a smoke flavor. Overall just average. Maybe try it one more time when in town again read more
