There have been more than two times where I hung up and went somewhere else in recent history because they did not answer their phone or they dropped the call . Hire some competent people! you know, chain restaurants really get a bad rap, and I've even guilty of being an elitist: "i won't say good things about chain restaurants" but, famous dave's actually has pretty legit bbq. the hubby and i had some pretty bum experiences at a few of our favorite local jaunts, and so we went back to famous dave's, and one of the best things about it is: consistency. it's consistently good stuff. never a worried visit of the quality, but just, constantly good. service at the hermitage location is pretty friendly as well. i ordered the half rack of spare ribs, and had no shame sucking the meat off the bone like a famished dog. no one in hermitage really cares anyway... their fries are awesome too--think and perfect. we like to dip them in ranch. we never have room for dessert, though one time, i did gluttonize myself into depression by shoving banana pudding down my throat-because it was that good. read more

I can't believe I haven't wrote a review yet for famous Dave's. Since coming t Nashville 6 years ago, I have visited this location at least once every two months and always get the rib tip appetizer and usually get ribs and brisket for dinner. Wife loves her brisket! Overall, a location that you can always depend on for a good meal without having the issues of having an off day on the food that some local BBQ places can have. read more

We went there last Saturday at lunch when my mom was in town visiting me. I'm not a huge fan of BBQ so I got a burger with cheese and my mom got the baby back ribs. My burger was plenty big and tasted ok, though a bit more done than I prefer. My mom said the ribs were good too. The service was all right too but nothing to write home about. We split a dessert as well. I guess maybe could be becoming a bit of a food snob as when my mom and I were talking about ratings, she said to go with a 4, but I think 3 stars means it was ok, so that's my score and I'm sticking with it. read more

The BBQ is delightful. I have been more than once. It is always great. We always get the trashcan lid which comes with your choice of sides and a couple of different meats. They have about six different sauces, all worth a try. The service was great as well. Our glasses were never half empty. If your looking for good BBQ, this is the place. read more

This place has character! Everything from the antiques on the wall to the food and tables feels like a true BBQ hole in the wall. The ribs are perfect, not fall off the bone, but still easy to chew, with a great flavor. Even though the ribs are good, the brisket is my all time favorite. Wow, what a great place to eat. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They have great deals on different meals Monday thru Friday. Today I had their BBQ Feast special. Everything was delicious. Our company loves loves loves this. We get it at least 1 time every 2 months. We get the brisket and chicken, coleslaw, bread pudding and beans. The Coleslaw is great, as are the meats but a little salty. The bread pudding is amazing. The kicker is I have lived in many BBQ states and just don't get it. My son, however is a lover of all BBQ so this has to be a regular on our rotation. Servers are very good and helpful every time we go or have it brought in. No complaints. Wish I loved BBQ. I had Famous Dave's cater a business meeting of 45 people. "Famous Sarah" did an outstanding job of coordinating the order, delivery and set up. Everything arrived on time, at the right temperature, and was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant for their catering service. We had the roasted chicken, pulled pork, BBQ beans, coleslaw and banana pudding. There was not a scrap of food left at the end of the event. read more

This place is the Chili's of Barbeque!!!!!! Gave me instant heartburn!!! After a few bites me and my girlfriend did not want to eat that crap at all. The place was not busy at all. The waitress was very pushy and hardly around. All the meats tasted the same like mystery meat barbeque. Unfortunately our take out didn't live up to the famous part. Although the presentation was excellent. The meal Feast for two was very disappointing. The potatoes were good, the corn of all things was perfect. Corn the one thing that's not done well. But when it came to the ribs. They were overdone, dry and had the texture of jerky, you know that chewy tuff pull with your teeth part. The most disappointing part was that I ordered extra. Maybe it was because we were to go. the food was good, but we all got sick from it (3 people) so i'll have to give it two stars. i ordered the two meat platter with pulled pork and rib tips. both were really tasty and very tender meat. for sides, i got mac and cheese and cole slaw- again both really tasty. for the price, you get like 4 meals worth of food, too, which i thought was pretty impressive. we shared the banana pudding for dessert. the pudding itself was awesome but it came with WAY too much whipped cream. read more

A decent barbecue meal. Went on a Saturday nite around 6 pm and it was packed. Waited 35 minutes to be seated. My waitress, Shelby, was pleasant and efficient. The 'Big Slab' of ribs, baked beans, and potato salad were ample in portions. I liked the potato chips given as a way to sample the 3 sauces on your table. This place is great. The service is exceptional, the ribs are tender, and the variety of sauce is awesome. Only reason it's 4 stars and not 5 is because their idea of brisket is a joke. It's one of the more expensive menu items, so imagine my surprise when it came out not only cold, but it looked like a sliced loaf of canned cat food and tasted like it too. I alerted the waitress of it being cold and disgusting and switched it out for something comparable in price (ribs) which were perfect. If you love brisket as I do, go to Martin's in Mt. Juliet. This Famous Daves location is great. While they are usually over busy and under staffed, you may wait awhile, but the team here makes it work. The best food I have found so far in Hermitage and Nashville. The feast for two on Tuesday is $19.99 and well worth it. Everything I have had so far is good I can't complain, I just ask for another side than the coleslaw. They also have five sauces I think. If you are in the mood for some good BBQ stop here. I have eaten at Famous Dave's before and the food was good. Today, my company ordered (in advance) a catered meal from them for approximately 40 of my coworkers. We had chicken, rib tips, baked beans, Cole slaw, and tea. This was for a 25th anniversary celebration for a wonderful coworker who actually chose this restaurant. The chicken was just barely okay but we were sorely disappointed in the rib tips! The first pan were fatty, most were dry and the second pan were worse...so hard you could not chew them. I'm not much on chain restaurants either, but Famous Dave's is the exception. I've eaten at the Hermitage and Franklin locations probably 25 times over the past 5 or 6 years. I have only been let down once, and that was at Franklin a few years ago. The other 24 times it was the best BBQ I'd ever eaten. I recommend the brisket, spare ribs, and pulled pork. All are very smoky and very tender. I'm sure the baby back ribs are good too, but the spare ribs are so good I can never bring myself to try them. All the sides are really good especially the fries, and mac n' cheese. For desert you must take some of the banana pudding home with you. It's better than my Mom's. Just don't tell her I said that. read more

Stopped in after a Dr appt - was really wanting Chili and it didn't disappoint at all. Reminded me how I make my own in fact so highly recommended. I sat at the bar and the bartender/service person named Melissa was outstanding - very courteous/responsive/friendly and made everything that much more enjoyable - tip her well. I also went with the wings (have pics of both will post) which are BBQ based (makes sense given the theme of the restaurant) which where decent (still will go to Hooters for Hot Wings personally) but it was Wing Wed and they were very good if you like the BBQ sauces they have which I do. Have a script from dr to pick up in Hermitage today so may just stop in again - hope the bartender is the same and I get outstanding service like I did yesterday. I ordered the "Two Meat BBQ Combo", which comes with your choice of two meats, two sides and a corn bread muffin. For my meats, I ordered the BBQ roasted chicken breast and the Texas style brisket. The brisket was smoky and tender and amazing. You could see a nice pronounced smoke ring and a little bit of char on the outside crust. I wish I would have ordered something else instead of the chicken. It wasn't bad, but for some reason in my mind I was hoping or thinking it would be pulled chicken off of the smoked breast. The meat was slightly dry, and I hate dealing with chicken bones but I doused it in different kinds of BBQ sauces that they have at the table and it was good. For my sides I ordered the mac and cheese, which was gooey and cheesy like it should be, and the garlic red-skin mashed potatoes. I am also really picky when it comes to cornbread because although it's supposed to be slightly "crumby", I still like it to be sticky enough that it holds together when you try and eat it.
