Not overly impressed with this place. I've tried the sauce before and we thought we would give it a try. The sauce is good (Rich and Sassy was my choice). The BBQ is ok. While the meat isn't the most memorable, the sauce selection was fun, from the names to the flavours. Our table's faves were Devil's Spit (peppery with medium heat) and the Rich-n-Sassy (traditional but savoury). The portions are extremely generous, and the turkey burger is very flavorful. But the piece d'resistance is the bread pudding - holy hell. A real treat, with caramelized nuts, a pleasingly custard consistency, and a just-right whiskey sauce. Yum. read more

I love BBQ, and Famous Dave's ain't bad... But it's not the best either. To me Famous Dave's is just average. The portions are enough for a filling meal, but I usually have left-overs at other places. The atmosphere doesn't seem authentic to me. It seems very much like a chain restaurant - I can't really explain. The prices are fair. The restaurant is popular - but I prefer B&C, Martin's or even Jim N Nicks. I forgot to mention. We stopped in Nashville for the night. Decided to have dinner at Famous Daves. We got a feast for two that easily fed 4. It had tasty tender beef ribs. Juicy pulled pork and half a yummy chicken. I used to love this place. We came today for my sons birthday. We got the feast for 2, got double brisket and the chicken. The chicken was great as was all the sides. The brisket however, horrible! She took it back once and brought more out. I came here for the brisket which is usually great! Not this time. They have changed it. It's like the consistency of processed meat and not tasty. I would like to say that I agree with Carmen P. that just because its a chain doesn't mean you should avoid it. We came here to eat after a bad meal at another BBQ place in town, we shoulda came to Famous Dave's in the first place! Right from the start the service was friendly and fast, they always make you ask each employee why they're "Famous" and they'll all give you a corny and funny answer. I have the "Ribs and Brisket" plate, I personally don't like me ribs cooked to fall of the bone, I like my with a little bite to it, and that's how they had it. Stopped in after a long day working outside, ready to relax. Sat in the bar area and seemed to be one of the staff's children there hanging out and playing with other staff members. Maybe they didn't have a sitter which is totally fine to me, but the child kept flipping a Gatorade bottle about 60 times making all kinds of noise and not once did anyone do anything about it. Some employees actually kept him going. I sat in the bar area to keep away from those kind of things and just wish a staff member would have done something to keep the noise down. For being a chain, we were very surprised. The hostess welcomes you with a smile and quickly gets you seated. Before you even have time to take it all in the waiter (Famous Ty) shows up and gets your drinks. The service was with a hitch. The cute little postcards you can place up at the end of your table, when you need service, is pretty sweet. Just as sweet as their sweet tea. We enjoyed the nachos for an appetizer and both of us had the barbeque combo. The St Louis Ribs you can just pull the meat off with a fork! The pulled pork was flavorful and tender. The brisket was soft and juicy but the pieces we had were a bit fatty. They give you nice sized portions so you can pretty much either expect left overs or forgo the appetizer. Our waiter was awesome. He was informative and even went into detail about each of the different barbeque sauces. If you are in the area, make sure you ask Famous Ty, why he is Famous. read more

It was such a nice Saturday that me and my wife wanted a nice place to eat outside. We've been to this location before without issue so we assumed it was a sure bet. We arrive, not very busy at all, we ask to sit outside to which they reply "absolutely!". We get seated outside and wait over 20mins....not even a drink order taken. I love Famous Dave's for the ambiance. I moved here from Montana and it brings back some great memories for me. I used to absolutely love the ribs but I was so disappointed when they went to "dry." They say you can still get them wet tossed or something like that where they are supposed to have sauce but I couldn't really tell much difference. I've tried it 2x now and the 2nd time was a little better. I still love to go there and probably will continue because I think they have lots of great food and you can't beat it for the price. Having lived in Nashville for almost a decade now I had never been to Famous Dave's. If it wasn't for trying my wife's nachos it would have a lower score and I'd never go back. I ordered the two selection dinner of chicken fingers and catfish fingers. Yes, I should have tried what they are known for, good barbecue. The chicken fingers - terrible, the standard pull it from the freezer nothin special except maybe they over salted them. The catfish - slightly better, unique way of cutting thin strips and breading them but the breading and flavor wasn't anything special My wife's nachos - my wife is picky about her nachos, needs lots of flavor and meat and this had all of that. I wanted some pulled pork; what I got was "Georgia Chopped Pork". Georgia Chopped Pork must be fast-cooked, careless BBQ because I had and equal ratio of fat to actual edible meat. For 14 dollars the portion size was TINY, and when asked by the server if everything looked "great" I had to politely say I was a bit disappointed. The manager quickly came out and said it looked like what was supposed to be my 8 ounce portion was indeed a bit skimpy. What erks me is that they are treating and pricing 8 ounces of pork shoulder like it's 8 ounces of a steak (and 4 ounces of that was unmelted chunks of fat). The server informed me the this so-called "Famous" Dave likes his BBQ full of chunks of rubbery fat and after proverbially "chewing the fat" for a bit longer she did admit that everything but the ribs were "hit-or-miss", everything is overpriced for what you get, and if you want traditional style BBQ without all that fat ask for it "lean" (nice to know after the fact). For being a chain restaurant this place is definitely one of the best chain restaurants I've been to in my life. Came here with some co-workers after a long flight and this place was just what we were looking for. A decent selection of local beers, and delicious BBQ. The sauces weren't all that amazing, I'll admit, but the meat itself was tender, juicy, and delicious. Started with the boneless buffalo wings and some potato chips, which were a good start, but man the rib tips and the brisket were definitely the star of the show. That, and the fact that my buddy polished off a full rack of ribs himself and bought a shirt to prove it! The ambiance here is great, with friendly and attentive service, and a good crowd for the most part, not too loud or rowdy.
