I don't like giving negative reviews but this is the 3rd time my step dad and I have problems with this restaurant. First of all please whoever manages or owns the restaurant put up a sign that says you dont accept bills over 20. Its truly annoying having to leave the line and get change at the liqour store. This has never happened before but on Sunday we went in and a older lady who by the way had an attitude took our order. I guess she was in a hurry to go home that she didnt check if she put our order in right. My step dad ordered a chicken fried steak and I ordered the the shrimp plate. She charged us $26 but somehow my order wasnt coming out. I waited for 20 minutes for it! The thing that pissed me off was that she left happily home no consequences. The girl who apologized for her co workers mistake wasn't even supposed to apologize to me because it wasn't her mistake! I felt bad because she had to go back into the system and find my order. She had more customers to attend to which sucked for her not for the actual responsible person who messed up my order. Lastly the food use to be so good but for some reason it didnt taste good and it made my step dad sick. I found a eyelash or mustache hair in my fries and the salad needs to be cover correctly it was old and turning brown. Thats not ok! I honestly believe that the only good worker is the girl with the piercing she take so much crap for others when its not her responsibility! This place was DISGUSTING and FAILED miserably! I'm not really sure what's with the hype on this place, but something tells me that the residents of Cerritos are missing out on some good food. If that's the case, it's completely understandable since they've been sheltered all their lives. The three of us came here over the weekend because we were in the area and our friend wanted to eat here. Seriously, food in Cerritos REALLY SUCKS. Ever since I left the city, everything's just been spiraling down hill. I mean, all the Korean restaurants I used to go to aren't so good anymore, the Chinese restaurants don't taste as good as Rowland Heights, and all their chain restaurants here are worse than any of their other locations! What's wrong with this picture? This can only explain why the food trucks have to come to Cerritos to make all the residents happy. I can't blame them! I would ask for a food truck every day if I had to be in that miserable city! LOL. We just stood there for a good 5 minutes deciding on what to order from their massive menu... For obvious reasons, I knew I shouldn't order their Chicken Teriyaki or even bother with their corn dogs, so I went with their "SPECIAL COMBO" meal: Philly Cheesesteak. You would think if it's one of their 8 special items for their combo, it would be good, right? M wanted the Carne Asada Burrito because my friend said "IT'S SO GOOD". J ordered the Chicken Wet Burrito with Green Sauce. How this place failed miserably? #1. The Chicken wet burrito with green sauce my friend ordered came with RED sauce. Incompetent employees. #2. Philly Cheesesteak was just GROSS. Everything tasted OLD and the bread was just STALE. There was hardly any cheese in the sandwich, too. -_- #3. The carne asada burrito was just a gross mess. The meat tasted old and dry. #4. We felt incredibly sick 30 minutes after we finished eating. #5. This place is really dirty, too. What I appreciate about this place is that it is very spacious inside. For a burger place, it feels more like a diner than a fast food joint. I also appreciate how they have the condiments lined up in the middle of the restaurant. This makes it easy to grab more Tabasco sauce, ketchup, mustard, napkins, and the yellow chili peppers without having to deal with employees. While they do offer a $.99 Jr burger special, I opted for their 1/3 lb burger with bacon and avocado for $5. The burger came out tasting pretty good. I like how they have their own special sauce on the burger. I also ordered a side of fries and it came out tasting nicely cooked too. The price is a little on the expensive side, but they do offer certain Specials that makes it worthwhile. Next time, I'll order one of the specials and enjoy it. This place is definitely a 2 star establishment. With so many great restaurants in the SoCal area, this place does not complete at all. They have a couple of specials that are really cheap. But overall their food is very dry, stale, and old. The vibe of the entire place is pretty chill as it looks like a diner fused with an in-n-out. However, it felt that the workers just wanted us out, even though they had not officially closed for the night yet. I am not a fan of places that rush you to finish your meal. I used to come here at least 2x a week with my coworkers, food was great & AC worked well. They changed ownership sometime over the summer & the quality has gone downhill. Portion sizes are much smaller, they now charge extra for tiny portions of ranch dressing the AC is barely on today (a 90 degree day). Fantastic's serves your typical burger diner fare but does so in a much cleaner environment. In fact, now that I think about it, most burger joints are pretty dank, dim and dark. Fantastic Cafe is the exception. I just don't like its location. It's located right next to a pretty bad neighborhood in Norwalk where there are several gangs active and have caused general trouble in the area. During most of the day, the place is safe and you just might get one or two unstable people wandering in, but nothing a little ignoring can't handle. The food quality is great. They also have a complimentary chips and salsa bar to eat on while you wait for your food to be cooked. They have good fries and fried zucchini and the burgers are well made. The burgers aren't overly run with grease and actually hold their shape pretty well as you eat it. I mentioned earlier that this place is everything most burger joints are not, large, bright and clean. The ironic thing is that I never see more than three other groups eating here at the same time me and my friends come by to visit. I just wish to get the word out that there are good places like this out there within Cerritos city limits. You just have to have the mind to look around in the northern blocks more. read more

I use to go here a couple times a month. The manager mr.genaro was nice and the workers friendly. New owners, workers and this place is not the same. They want to charge for an extra ranch for your salad. I bought a large fries which looked like a small, I asked her if this was the large and she said yes. I told her it use to be bigger. Fantastic's is really clean and has plenty of seating. A very spacious dining room with 3 flatscreen TV's, usually showing sports of some kind. The food is delicious. Especially the burgers, fries, nachos, fried chicken dinner, pancakes, and breakfast burritos. You really can't go wrong. I especially love the fries here. Lightly seasoned with seasoned salt, it's impossible for me not to finish them. The one my bro gets, bacon, steak, cheese, potato, egg wtf--who puts that many different animals into one fluffy, homemade (tasting, if not actually) wrapper?!? Fantastic Cafe, that's who!! I've stuck with salads, and munch on my brother's burrito when he isn't looking. They have this taco salad thing in a hard shell and they make the shell to order. So much for a salad. I needed a quick fast food fix. This SEEMED like a fast food place, but little did I know that this was more like a restaurant type. I was running on a time budget (15 mins) and was hoping I'd get a quick bite in that limited time space. The inside of the place looks like a burger joint (reminded me a whole lot like In-N-Out). Their menu however, was much more elaborated than In-N-Out for they had a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu along with different variety of foods besides burgers such as salad, hot dogs, sandwiches, and rice plates. It kinda was hard for me to decide what to get, but I decided to get a burger combo with a drink and fries ($5.95) for it was the safest route to do and maybe faster to make as well. ***They have an all day special all you can spaghetti for $5.95. Boy, the order line was soooo slow. There was only one person taking up orders and families ahead of me just keep ordering and ordering ... I would expect a place this big with at least 2 cashiers. I think I waited in line for a good 15 mins (there goes my 15 mins already). My order took another 15 mins or so. Finally I get to eat. Their burger and fries were pretty fresh though. The burger was not as good as In-N-Out (maybe because they neglected the onions), but other than that, it's comparable. Their fries however are thick cut and fresh. I found it much better than the way In-N-Out has it. In conclusion: If you are expecting your food right away, please don't come here. But if you want to come here for relatively cheap food and need a different getaway/vibe/environment then yes, please do come here! I've been calling to place a phone order and the first time Carlos put me on hold for over 7 minutes then hung up on me . I guess he forgot I was on hold . I called right back and i immediately asked for his name and again I'm Spanish he said please hold and again waiting and waiting . Like a lot of reviewers here, I too used to be a frequent visitor of this establishment. Before I knew (for sure) that the owners changed I could just tell by the way the business "changed". Food took too long, cashiers have become rude and ... Well, just rude. It was weird because the walls were/ARE filled with "owner and customer" pics, and even though they OBVIOUSLY changed owners, they have kept those pics up. Which is nice, I guess.. But also feels a bit like a poorly conducted "bait and switch" job trying to say, "hey we haven't changed owners.... It's still the same old fashioned burger joint." But, quite frankly, it isn't :(. The food on our LAST visit took 35 minutes :( and was cold :(. We won't be back. For an establishment that has "burger" in their name, they sure make an awesome breakfast burrito! The only thing I ever order is the sausage breakfast burrito, whether it's in the morning or late afternoon. Eggs, cheese, sausage, hashbrowns inside a warm tortilla is just too good. They have traditional diner food as well. Got the chorizo breakfast plate one time and it was quite good. They also have some great deal after 4:00PM. For example, all you can eat spaghetti for $4.99 (I've never heard of anything like this), tacos for $.99, and a buy one cheeseburger get another free. I grew up on the same street as this place and have seen it evolve from Steam City, to Fantastic Café, to now the Fantastic Burger Grill. Right across from the ABC Unified School District office, you'll find a place with burgers and fries with huge portions, along with a decent sampling of Mexican and Asian food for good measure. Basically, this place caters very to the demographics of the area it serves (Norwalk/Cerritos). You can get huge portions for relatively cheap prices here. A burger and fries will run you about $7, and it's a lot better quality than you can get elsewhere. This place is also very supportive of the local community and schools - Gahr, Cerritos, and Whitney High Schools have all done fundraisers here and there's tons of pictures all over the walls in here of the local community. If you're looking for a good brunch/lunch spot somewhere in Cerritos that's NOT Asian food or super healthy, come try this place! read more

First to review! YES! . . . Honestly, I've never had anything bad here. I don't think I've ordered some of the big dinners (fish, chicken breasts, etc) but I get the usual stuff - fries, burgers, burritos, CHILI CHEESE FRIES! Always awesome! The Mexican food is always great. The best thing is they always have chips and salsa for free. We always come here after little league games and it's just the perfect spot, always clean, nice layout, and great selection. The only other place to get food like this in Cerritos is Johnny Rockets in the mall or Red Robin and that's a whole different thing. There's In-n-Out nearby but that's different too. read more

Came here on Christmas just as they were about to close. The guy behind the counter told us they were closed and was not going to serve us. Luckily the owner came out at that moment and offered to serve us. He also gave my girlfriend a free Snapple. (I think he felt bad) The burgers were delicious. Very flavorful and automatically came with a 1000 island type sauce which I love. The onion rings were huge but a bit too bready for my taste. The vibe in there is like an old classic diner. *Need I remind You?* So I remember coming here back in the day, especially those after school trips. Now, I've been coming here since it was originally called Fantastic Cafe. I also came here once when it was Steam City Grill. Now it's Fantastic Burger Grill. I decided to write this under the Fantastic Cafe review, simply just cuz that's what most people still refer to it as. Now this place is literally down the street from me, and I just ate there today for the first time since it changed to The Fantastic Burger Grill. They now have LCD Tv's which modernize the place, but they no longer have free chips and salsa. If you want them I think it's like a dollar or so. Looking at the menu it pretty much looked the same as it used to, and they serve breakfast all day. I love it when places do that. Now, I ordered the "Cowboy Burger," and it wasn't till my order was ready that I noticed that it was basically a "Western Bacon Cheeseburger." I must say that it was rather tasty, and what sealed the deal was that when I bit into the onion rings in the burger, they didn't do that thing when you bite it the entire onion gets dragged out. It's not a huge deal for me if it does, but the fact that the onion was crisp enough to snap is a nice touch. The barbecue sauce was your typical tomato-based sauce you find at many restaurants. It was closer to the runny side, but I don't mind. I added Tapatio throughout the burger, and the sweetness from it added to the overall experience. All in all I would come back and eat here. It's your typical burger joint (If you live in the Southwest that also means Mexican food as well) and the refills are free!!! Always a good thing. Back when I worked in Cerritos I always enjoyed taking occasional lunches at this place. It's in a small plaza with a good amount of parking, but shared with other businesses. Once walking in you get a nice feeling with the atmosphere. You are immediately welcomed with countless pictures on the wall of customers. Some with the owner. That's a good sign for community involvement. They do special fundraisers for charity/youth groups. What I normally have here is the patty melt and cheese fries. The patty melt is definitely on my top 5 list. The cheese fries are cooked well. They use fresh cheese. I usually ask for grilled onions on my fries and they give it a great taste. They have a pretty big menu with different type of foods. I've never been a fan of places that serve all types of food. I say stick with a specialty type. Maybe it's because I didn't have my morning coffee or breakfast, or maybe if I got my phone order sooner it wouldn't have been a problem. I phoned-in my lunch order to keep the waiting process a minimal. I walk in the restaurant and I see my food ready for pick up. The register worker told another co-worker handling the ready-food that the phone pick-up order is here. As I was waiting at the pick-up section, the co-worker didn't give me my food that was sitting there. I had to wait 10 minutes until I asked another person to give me my food that was sitting there! The food was lukewarm and unappetizing. This isn't the first time I had to deal with poor pick-up service. Customer service is what keeps your business alive. I come here often for my lunch breaks. It's your average food joint and it's in a very convenient spot for me. They have a lot of options for food from burgers to burritos, nachos, chili cheese fries, club sandwiches, salads, tacos and more. Breakfast has a good amount of options as well. Even when it gets busy they've been nice to me and the wait for the food isn't bad. Great place to take the family or dine alone. Your typical greasy spoon diner but their portions are huge. We like to come here for breakfast (served all day). Their burgers are huge. They serve a little bit of everything from Huevos Rancheros to a simple hot dog (my daughter's fav). Pass on the onion rings (deep fried beyond all recognition or resemblance to an onion ring)..the fries are good. I love the coffee/condiment island in the middle..so frigging convienient. If I need extra silveware or napkins, I can just go to the station and pick it up.. I'm not sure why they have all the pictures of the guests in there..didn't recognize anybody.. The name is kind of misleading as it is far from fantastic. It's a requirement that you watch your food being cooked or you will get the wrong order. Ordered the chicken breast breakfast with egg whites and a milk. Recieved normal eggs with a piece of un melted cheese on top and no milk. Ask the lady if those are egg whites to which she replies "idk i put it in the register as egg whites" Wish this was an isolated incident, but my past 3 experiences have been the same, either "nachos" which means bean dip w/e leftover animal fat they have as meat and litterally grated non melted cheese on top. Or my 15 dollar egg white chicken omelete *a chicken breast is 4.99 extra to an order* with a piece of cheese layed on top non melted *really haven't figured out that melted cheese thing yet* Fantastics was a pretty decent little spot when everything was 3 dollars cheaper, but since the new management it's been pretty awful. I was in desperate search for a breakfast burrito, a good one. One like the joint in Pasadena (Lucky Boy if you didnt know). This place didnt come close but what came close is to the ones I have had while on fishing boats (and these are pretty good). I ordered the combo burritos and its was pretty good. Lots of hash, crunchy bacon, sausage, lots of egg. Add into it some tabasco and you are all set. I rate this place 3 stars because it isn't a Lucky Boy - but it does satisfy my craving. Breakfast burrito STUFFED with food AND it's the size of my forearm. Everything about that sentence is wonderful... except that I no longer live in SoCal, so I can only stop by when I'm near my wonderful Cerritos friends. But in all food related seriousness, this is the way a breakfast burrito should be. We flew through the drive through and even though they forgot my friend's drink, all is forgiven when we unwrapped our three giant burritos and sat in heaven. My burrito was stuffed with bacon, hashbrowns, eggs, and salsa. I have to say they could add a lot more salsa, but nothing that tapatio at home can't save. Definitely the cerritos location is by far my favorite. I didn't really know there locations are not all the same or all owned by the same person. Cerritos definitely has prices that can't be found anywhere else especially for the amount of food. My favorite was the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the fries amazing and so many. I will definitely be coming back to the Cerritos location. Don't see myself returning to the Santa Ana location any time soon. read more
