great little dine in/out spot. i've always enjoyed these kinds of joints where they have 1000 things on the menu that can be made any time by the one guy on the line. burgers, burritos, salads, sammys, hot dogs, tacos etc etc etc. so many options. AND the prices are great. burger combos and such. i almost held off that 4th star cause the little lady behind the counter wouldn't take my Check-In offer for a free Soda with a purchase. she kept telling me that it was for the other Fantastic somewhere else??? anyway, i read her the address of my Check-In, which was this place, and she still was hesitant. after i told her no big deal, cause i don't drink when i eat anyway, she gave me my cup. I ended up waiting until 10:55 and when I told the manager I had to leave and was upset, she ripped a burrito off someone else's plate and gave it to me. Today I came in alone ordered two breakfast burritos and fries with ez cheese then went to rite aid to grab something. I come back 20 min later and wait for 5-10 then go up and ask if my order was ready as they cleaned off the grill and had no one in only to be told that they gave my order to someone else bc they thought he was with me and had to wait another 10-15 for my food. Get all the way home and take my first bite of the burrito and it was all cheese. I unwrap and take out a lot of cheese only to take another bite and eat eggshells in the burrito. Cockroach warning! I'd been here a ton of times until I ordered a chicken burrito. I took a few bites and it seemed normal. I ordered this thru postmates. When I received my order which was corn beef hash and eggs. This burnt corn beef patty was in my container. I called fantastics and the lady that answered put the cook on the phone and had the nerve to say maybe it was too burnt for me. He offered a credit or to come get another order but by then I was over it. I hung up. This is the 3rd issue I've had with them. The first 2 times thru postmates same order and they always sent me something other than their hash. Prior to these last 3 times I enjoyed their food but the fact that you could put this burnt ass piece of hash patty in my container and then tell me maybe it's too burnt for me is beyond ridiculous. This place has the best fries. Every Sunday I go over to the darn place and order many fries. The seasoning is divine.

I am convinced that you don't cure a hangover. You just convert it. You convert and postpone one bad situation into another. Either way, you are going to pay some sort of price for whatever happened the previous night. Let me 'splain. Standard hangover means nausea, headache, thirst, shivers, sweats and shakes. Typically I follow the night before with a huge gut bomb of grease the next morning. For years I thought this was a cure, but in reality, I was just converting one explosive situation into another. After eating lunch from there and bringing the remaining onion rings to Steve W.'s that I couldn't eat, he was left almost speechless when I told him what I saw. Eww, umm... where do I start? -dirty floors -dirty dining area -tables not whipped clean -insects -no hair nets -no gloves -open containers of food stored over the grill -a worker whipping her nose on her hand and then serving food -workers with their own personal drinks in the prep area -my onion rings, so hot from the fryer, melted the top of the styrofoam container and they served them to me that way. I was almost throwing up a little in my throat while observing all of this going on while waiting for my order to be made. I'm going to be nice and give 4 stars, I split it between 2 and 5 as a rating and then gave an extra boost because it's a couple blocks walk from my pad. I had the burger special which was your basic frozen meat patty on a sesame bun, a large plate of well done fries, and a drink. I don't know, I was feeling like ponding my gut with this Jenny Craig nightmare, call it cross training. Not much going on in this place, it has a back entrance that's all windows as is the front so you do get a view of the street traffic or those sitting in the cozy patio to the back. But I was facing the kitchen and what caught my eye was the menu... I started counting... 24, 25, 26... 59, 60, 61... 88, 89, 90... 116 ITEMS!!! As well as 10 Specials!! WOW! It was a diverse menu as it includes breakfast, traditional and mexican. This is what boosted the score for me really, if you're going to serve bad food you ought to be able to serve it all! As I got to the last 1/3 third of my plate of fries I watched the cook re-fortify the deep frier, he was slicing with his spatula large chunks of lard off an 18 inch square cube. I kept saying to myself that Ketchup is healthy for me as the handfulls of gelatenous animal fat went for a swim, then I pictured later this ooz to lazily travel my arteries. mom & pop shop in the heart of el segundo. came for breakfast after my meeting with my coworkers. this is the type of spot with 200 items on the menu; burgers, pancake breakfast plates, breakfast burritos, sandwiches etc. all the items are a bit overwhelming. i looked for the healthiest item on the menu which seemed to be the grilled chicken pita sandwich. sadly, when i asked what came inside the cashier didn't know. i'll cut some slack because what weirdo orders a chicken pita from a place like this? I really like Fantastic Cafe. Basically, it is diner fare. It's a cute little shop there in El Segundo. Erica F. turned me on to this place and we used to get take out orders at work. One time, I had my car (I usually take the bus to work) and went to go pick up our phone in orders. When I got there, I was surprised to find that there was more to El Segundo besides the corporations on Sepulveda! I had never been to the cute downtown on Main Street. So I was charmed by the area, and the store. I mean, I have early lunch breaks, so I'd get pancakes/breakfast from here all the time. They always would mess up this one coworker's order, but he was a weirdo and they would mess up by putting avocado in. I love avocado. What a great mistake. Anyway, breakfast and burgers are where its at here. Recommended! read more

The food is good but the cashiers don't show up on time for work. The place opens at 6am and they walk in at 6 most days. Then have the nerve to ask you wait while they prepare the cash register. I ordered a breakfast burrito with chili and I was disappointed. I've been here before and was satisfied but seems like they are cutting corners now. I felt like I was eating a vegetarian burrito. Where is the dam meat(ham, sausage, bacon that was advertised??). The chili was the only meat it seems was on my burrito. $10 is excessive to not have almost no meat on it. Look at the photo I provided. Outsider of the chili its loaded with potatoes. If I ever eat here again I'm gonna definitely make sure I get what I ordered. Okay, this is an interesting place. It's a bit run down (but clean) and it's not "good" food in my opinion. It's sketchy, greasy, heart-attack-inducing diner food. Which means it's also awesome and delicious! And like you'd expect, the prices are decent too. They have a ton of things on the menu, anything from breakfast to diner food to mexican food, even some combinations of the two and everything in between. This time around I got a chili burrito and onion rings and it...was disappointing. The burrito was basically a can of hormel chili wrapped in a tortilla. It may have been homemade, but it didn't appear that way. The tortilla was dry and crispy. The onion rings were way overcooked to the point that almost every one looked like it was a red onion inside, but it wasn't, the onion was just burned completely dark. This visit basically earned two stars, but three things pumped it up to three. One was the service; it was fast and the people were very nice and smiley and happy, which is always a good thing. Two was the portion size; it was big and you get a ton of onion rings with the order. Three was what I know this place can be!
