Farmer Boys has been inching its way down to San Diego little by little and the closes one to me is in Escondido. However being in Rancho Cucamonga for a few days, I figure I would take advantage and give them a try. I like the flavor of natural beef so I ordered the award wining 1/3 "Natural" burger with cheese. The burger comes with a USDA Vegetarian-Fed Steer Beef, hormone-free and Antibiotic-Free all natural beef patty. A 1 star is too good for this location! I received an email promoting their "Big Cheese" for $2 on Sept 18th from 2 to 5pm. I called the restaurant a few days before to ask if they could substitute out the beef burger for a Veggie burger and I was told yes, for $2 more. I went to the Rancho Cucamonga location on East Foothill at 2:30pm, waited in line and placed my order. I was told I could not get the Veggie burger instead and that their Veggie burger is $6.19 each. I explained that I called ahead of time for exactly this reason. I was told by the manager that I called the wrong location! Which is NOT True! She said they Never do this. I said your employee said that you do. I had bad experience several times in this store. One time when I see the bill i want to double check with an order price, the cashier start with calling me "sweat heart" and a definitely fake friendly tone to explain there is no mistake on the bill. This defense attitude is really unnecessary. Another time, another cashier asked me to choose one source with my order. Because I have no clue which is which, so I told her that she can pick one or most popular one for me. She refused and told me that I had to choose myself and then she was staring at me and closed her mouth tightly. It was busy time and some customer behind me. Also, she looks like in a hurry, too. At that moment, she was kind of punish me to do not know the answer for a simple question and waste her time like she is my boss. In order to finish this unpleasant conversation, I just gave her a source name. Then she took a big noticeable deep breath and quickly typed several button on the board. Basically, I only delay several seconds on that single question she asked. Then she handed a paper cup on the desk and just look over my shoulder to directly talk to next customer. I felt that I should pick up my cup and move away as soon as possible. All those behaviors made me feel that I am not welcome to this place. A good friend of mine who works for Rancho Cucamonga police department was in the drive-through in a marked police vehicle and in uniform and when they got to the window, they were told that they were closed yet it wasn't closing time. The cars in front of them where given service but they were refused service. yet there were still cars behind them. I've always enjoyed there food but I will no longer be a loyal customer. My kids and i have visited this place several times and we keep having issues with one worker who seems to hate her job and customers. She is so rude, doesn't say hello or thank you. In fact, she often will stare you down and make you feel uncomfortable. I asked for ranch and she brought us a ranch that looked open and hardly had any inside. This was our last time visiting. This is what I like most beside the staff being awesome! The food is real! My Breakfast Burrito always consists of Bacon Egg and Cheese. Sometimes I get the Hash browns just for the heck of it but my diet is mostly meat and a flour totilla doesn't throw me over the top! Updating review based on recent experience. Out of all the local Farmer Boys this one is the most efficient and friendly. I prefer this one over the one in Fontana which is 0 stars in my opinion. Don't go to the one on Cherry drive here, you'll thank me. Most of the time the food is fresh but on occasion we have ended up with burnt hash browns, bacon and egg. This is especially true if you order breakfast items after noon, seems like they "save" breakfast items for later. In any case burgers, sandwiches n fries are usually fresh. When I first started eating at this particular Farmer Boys years ago, the service was inconsistent. The food was usually good, but the employees weren't always on top of their game. Nowadays, though, the service is excellent. Kudos to management for either re-training or re-staffing because it's always a pleasure to dine here or order to go at the drive-thru. Breakfast is my go-to meal here. The pancakes are huge and fluffy, the French Toast is good, the eggs are cooked just right, and the sausage, bacon, hash browns, etc., are all tasty. While they claim to serve an award-winning hamburger, both times I've ordered it have been plain and unspectacular and is nowhere near as good as nearby In-N-Out or The Habit. The fish-and-chips dinner runs on the bland side, too, but for some reason I crave it occasionally. At one time this was my favorite Farmer Boys location. I like the owner and her daughter that run the location. I was ecstatic when the son moved on. It was the quality of the food that kept me coming in. This place was superior and had an attention to detail that was above the rest. Now, it has all gone down hill. Today was the fourth bad experience that I have had. I will start with the pancakes which came out 10 minutes after the rest of my food. These used to be staple of what they did right, but these are now akin to a hybrid between microwave pancakes or McDonald's pancakes. One side was the perfect golden brown, the other was white bubbly dough. They were chewy and lacked the flavor they used to have just a year ago. The best I can say is meh. The hash browns were ordered well done and came out underdone. They needed salt and pepper aside from about 5 more minutes on the grill. The ham and cheese omelette was good. But, I like Tabasco on my eggs. In their infinite wisdom this location has switched to Tabasco packets instead of bottles of Tabasco. I am sure Cholula and Tapatio have a kickback deal, but they could at least have the mini bottles of Tabasco. The packets do not taste the same. This store is also the new remodel design. I don't know who the mensa member is that came up with the idea to board up the drive through window but it causes two issues. The first is with the hardwood floors, ceiling and new wall, the sound is ridiculously loud. Is it really that hard for modern designers to take into account people being able to have a conversation? Or, is this their way of painting walls yellow to get people to leave quickly like McDonalds used to do? Second, in the men's room, they removed the urinal. Is it too much to ask to save water and improve cleanliness by having a urinal? I am not a fan of pee on the toilet and the floor around the toilet. It was nasty. Just imagine the person cooking your food using this mess. So, the food quality has continued to drop and the remodel has major flaws. I don't know if I will be back. read more

This is the second time I have written a review for this Farmer Boys location. I feel that this location gets really busy at certain parts of the day, just like other fast food locations. Within that time frame, the manager needs to put someone at the drive thru window/speaker that is going to experienced enough to handle the flow of customers. Kylie has to have been the worst worker I have ever came across at this location. Not only did she almost overcharge me for my order (until I caught it), but it was because of her incompetence that I was in line for almost 30 minutes. I honestly feel she is not experienced enough to be manning the drive thru window/speaker at this time of the day. Wow it's been over two years since my last review and my thoughts about this place haven't changed. Keep in mind I mostly visit Farmer Boys in the morning time for their breakfast. When I bring the family here they all have their norm that they like to order. I sometimes will order their stuffed breakfast burrito with your choice of bacon, ham, chili or sausage. It comes with their delicious fresh salsa that you can include inside the burrito, or order it on the side. My kids like their little farmhand meals. They have the option of pancakes or French toast. My two year old who doesn't like to eat anything, devours the French toast. Also, make sure that if your here for breakfast you order their orange juice. According to their ingredients it's 100% OJ. Aside from their delicious breakfast the service here is always superb!! The girls who clean the tables and keep the crowd flowing are always on top of it. This location did not even bother to communicate this on their Facebook page, which shows this location does not care if customers are inconvenienced by pointlessly driving to this location, only for it to be closed. In addition to this, a year ago, I had an experience where a Server at this location was unrelenting at not conceding that I had been overcharged by $2.00, despite it being abundantly clearly that I had. I recently tried Farmer Boys for the first time again and I am hooked. I know this locations staff and the VIF Loyalty Club have a lot to do with it. Staff are friendly and engaged, checking on you as you dine and show they genuinely care for your satisfaction. The food is pretty consistent. I think that means a lot when you think about how much a burger can vary from place to place. The VIF Loyalty Club really makes a difference when I'm thinking about where to spend my money.
