Everything on the menu is great but my favorite is the chicken Louisiana with the side of fettuccine Alfredo instead of the red sauce because the dish has a cream sauce base. The Sicilian antipasto salad is large enough for the table to split. The service is top notch and Very friendly. I still haven't been to II Tony's, and on some random Monday night, my boyfriend tried to take me there. Turns out that place is closed on Monday - where to go when you're in the mood for some chicken parm along the Jefferson/Orleans parish line? The answer is Fausto's Bistro, which we found thanks to an iPhone navigation app suggestion. We showed up and were seated right away. The dining room is smallish and darkish, but let's just call it "atmosphere." Our waitress was perhaps a tad brusque, but she passed by often enough that our straws never actually slurped, and the other servers brought us yummy bread and salads while we waited for our entrees. (We both order chicken parmesan - go with your cravings!) I definitely was pleased when the plate came out - the portions were just right, the sauce was delicious, the chicken was breaded well, and the pasta was just yummy. I'm pretty sure the reason my boyfriend and I weren't talking to each other during that dinner was because we were both busy savoring the deliciousness. And sometimes, when the entree is so delicious, you just can't help getting dessert. (We usually don't order desserts at restaurants.) We ordered 1 tiramisu with 2 spoons, and it was yummy. My boyfriend said that he probably likes our homemade tiramisu a little bit better, but it's not like he didn't eat all of his half of our piece. Dinner with husband and son. Having just come from a mid-day party, we all just ordered an entree each. No appetizers, no drinks. The elderly, male waiter didn't like that at all. We all felt unwelcome. Food was not bad. Place too small could hardly move. Had a cannoli and an espresso to assuage the waiter's sensibilities. Won't go back. New Orleans has other more charming, less snobby, Italian restaurants. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I really liked this place! Have been here twice over the holiday season with my in-laws to be and it was fantastic both times. It's small and quaint looking on the inside and the food is great. The first time we went there I had the chicken Louisiana, an paneed chicken breast with tons of seafood and a lemony cream sauce. Fantastic! it came with a large side of spaghetti with red gravy. I had two other meals out of this one. The second time we ate at Fausto's we got the same waitress. She was very sweet and even remembered us. I tried one of the specials, a parmesain crusted gulf fish. It came with sauteed spinich and roasted potatoes, in a brothy lemon sauce. It was so large that half came home with me. It was a special but I wish it were always on the menu,. Both times we ordered calamari for the table which came with both marinara and also with a lemon garlic dipping sauce. The lemon garlic sauce really made the calamari special. I'm sure I will be back to Fausto's...word to the wise, make a reservation, because the place is small and there isn't much room to wait if they are all booked up. read more

Great place! We were looking for a new Italian place and ended up here thanks to an iPhone app. We walked in and were warmly greeted by the owner and seated right away. We had the escargot and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers and they were truly delish! For an entree I tried one of the chief specials, white fish with a crab white wine sauce with lemon russet potatoes & spinach. It was a perfect. My friend had a breaded chicken spinach pasta dish that was equally delightful. We finished our meal by sharing one of their home made canolli's, possibly one of the best I have ever had. Great place! Fausto's Bistro is an Italian restaurant that serves authentic Italian food. I ordered the Friday lunch special: Seafood Pasta. It had a large amount of crawfish tails, shrimp, a few oysters and 4 crab claws. The cream sauce was light and full of flavor. Yum! I ate it all! My BFF ordered a meatball poboy that was delicious. He inhaled it! We both ordered a small cesar salad that was so-so . . . would try another salad next time. The staff was very friendly. We will certainly return! read more

I have been here a few times to eat and I would say that the menu and food are solid. I think that the prices are a little high for the food quality, but all and all, it is a pretty good experience overall. I went a week ago on a Friday night, and the wait was over 40 minutes. I didn't mind and waited, but once we sat down, it took another hour and a half to actually get our food. I ordered the parmesean crusted fish and it was soooo salty that I could barely eat it. I thought about sending it back, but I didn't want to wait another hour for something else. My boyfriend got the veal parmesean and said that his meal was pretty good. So, overall, it was okay, but I wanted more from the experience. read more

This is a quaint and wonderfully authentic italian restaurant. Yes, it's a little noisy but being Italian... that gives it a homey feel! Great service, great food!!! Was not impressed at all. It wasn't horrible, but overpriced for what it was. Our server, Mindy, was harsh and unfriendly. We ordered what was called on the menu "traditional ravioli" but it came out fried and stuffed with jalapenos and what tasted like semi frozen. My fettucini was okay but not work $18. Came here on a whim. First time. Yikes! The least expensive entree is $16. Most average $19-$23. The tight space makes it extremely loud; can hear everyone's conversation and when someone laughs it echoes through the whole place making you pause your conversation. Food: meh. Wonderful authentic Italian food! We got there a little early so we sat at the bar and had a drink. My Martini was excellent; my wife's Cosmo was a little too strong (but not undrinkable). Table of six, but service was still prompt. Fried calamari was awesome with two different dipping sauces. The ladies loved the fried ravioli. The special fish was a puppy drum with jumbo shrimp, artichokes, black olives and a light butter-lemon sauce. Absolutely outstanding - the asparagus was well done, but kinda sparse in quantity. The wine was a little pricey - $40 for La Crema Pinot Noir? Coffee was very good. Dessert was good, but it's a little disappointing to pay $6.50 for one cannoli you know came from Angelo Brocato's (and costs $2.50 there). Ordered the stuffed mushroom app. Very good! Then ordered the Veal marsala. WOW is the only way to describe this dish. A lot of mushrooms and tangy marsala sauce. My only disappointment was that the portion was a bit small for my appetite. Order came with a side of angel hair pasta and house marinara. This place is really, really good. What in the world has happened to Fausto's? Over the years, it has been a consistently decent place where you could count on decent Italian food. Tonight earned them a spot on my permanent restaurant time out list. First, the breadsticks--Costco breadsticks--two cut in half, sprinkled with butter and a little Italian cheese. The food--I ordered the chicken marsala. I took one bite and almost spit it out. The sauce was lighter than it should be, way too much wine, and it left a metallic taste in my mouth. My husband saw the look on my face (I come from a long line of excellent Sicilian cooks, and this was the worst food I have ever tasted from an Italian restaurant). I really wanted to send it back because it was inedible, but instead, my husband took mine and ate it but was not enjoying it. The side of angel hair with red gravy--the sauce was grossly undercooked. In fact, it tasted as though they opened a CAN (not even a jar) of cheap spaghetti sauce and dumped it over the top of the pasta. Husband ordered the fried soft shell crab, served over crawfish pasta in a cream sauce with tomatoes and green onions, which was listed as one of the daily specials. This had no flavor, whatsoever. I asked for lemon, and I squeezed about 6 slices of lemon over the pasta and crab, and then poured a lot of Italian cheese on top--still no flavor. Almost $60 later, I am not happy. At all. Please think twice before you dine at this place. Occasionally, restaurants have a bad night. That's fair. A little off is one thing--inedible, undercooked, leaving a bad taste in your mouth is unacceptable. Someone needs to do a quality check on the food quickly. Fausto's has many regular diners. Maybe they are coasting on past reputation. My advice--fix it or people will stop coming, and they will tell their friends. There are way too many good placed to eat in the city to have to dine on food like this. Ew, ew, ew! read more

I have been going here since 1981 when I lived around the corner from Fausto's; way back then, I'd eat there almost every night. Good times, good times!! I moved away from that house in 1995 but still go to Fausto's as much as I can. I don't really have any favorites as I truly love everything on their menu!!
