I returned to Fields Jeep yesterday because they had the exact color combination I was looking for in a new Overland. Based on my experience last year I was reluctant to do so initially, but my salesman Roberto took fantastic care of me. They gave me a more than fair price on the Grand Cherokee I traded in and gave me an excellent price on my new Overland. I doubt there's a better car dealer anywhere, regardless of brand. My family has been buying cars (various makes and models) since Earl Fields first opened his Cadillac dealership in Evanston, IL. Now something of an auto empire, the Fields Auto Group has gotten and maintains my business at their Jeep (and the rest of Chrysler Group) location. Scrupulously honest from top to bottom. Last spring I bought my wife a Jeep Liberty, which she adores (her first ChryCo product) and I treated myself to a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland (replacing a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland). Admittedly I might be different from other buyers as I pay cash for my cars, Fields people never over-sell financing or add-ins. They make options available then you -- the customer -- make up your mind and that's that. They run up deal numbers with no nonsense and if I like them, deal's done. I truly don't like "dealing" in the conventional sense and there's no pressure to do so at Fields that I've ever experienced. The service department is top notch and gets things done right and on time... every time. Really! Good car wash, too! I recently had a technical issue with the 2012 Jeep I bought at Fields (where else?) and the dealer worked with Chrysler to make things right in my book. The details are between Fields management and me but let's say I was amazingly pleased with the results as orchestrated by Fields professionals -- specifically by Jim Moyer, the general manager, and Jeff Malec, my sales professional. I'm fairly sure John Fields had a role as well and probably organized Chrysler involvement in resolving issues -- he's good at that. So a long-time customer (I've had 5 Jeeps from Fields in the last 10 years; I get bored easily) remains a loyal customer. Sure, I might to to a Chrysler or Dodge brand product next just for a change of pace, but I can assure everyone it will be purchased from Fields! No issue at all. read more

Good, fast service but there always seems to be a minor irritating unresolved issue, such as a tire not completely filled or the service light still on. For the major repairs they do an excellent job, but attention to detail is not always perfect. read more

Buying a car is the worst. After several disastrous trips to other dealerships, my husband and I ended up at Fields. Our salesperson, Mike Schechtman, was great. My husband and I have been looking for the right jeep for a couple of months. We went to a local dealerships and were not happy with the service we received....so we continued our search. Last week we had the pleasure of working with Michael Schechtman at Fields in Glenview. I spoke with Michael on the phone and he research and gave me a few stock numbers for my husband and I to look at. He was spot on with having us look at models we were interested in. I called him the next day and told him the one we were interested in and came out later that day to test drive the jeep. Of course we loved it and bought it that day. I should mention we live in St Charles and drove to Glenview to buy our new Jeep and let me say it was worth it!!! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Despite what others have said about this place, I decided to give it a try. My oil change (which I had an appointment for) took over two hours. I bought my used Grand Cherokee at Fields at the end of 2007 and they have serviced my car ever since (oil changes, repairs, etc). The car purchase process was fine (I would say a typical process for buying a used car at a reputable dealer) and they treat me great in the service department (regrettably I have some experience with the department due to several issues I have had with my car but that is a Chrysler issue). The service department staff has always been very professional and has always treated me well. I do not feel I am getting the run-around despite the fact that I did not buy a new car with them. I like their ability to provide loaner cars for longer repair job and they are willing to drop me off nearby on occasion. The free car washes, ice cream and coffee are also nice value-adds. read more

RUN FROM SERVICE! May be a nice new building but the service people are rude and inept and try to UP CHARGE YOU. All lip service, no follow through. Brought my car in for service and when I picked it up the steering wheel was "off of center". I was told to bring it back and they would "make it right". (It was right when I brought it in). Dropped off in the early a.m. a week later (since that was when they could fit me in) and was told the fix would take 1.5 hours. I called at 11 to see if finished since I had to get a ride over to pick up my car. THEY HADN'T EVEN STARTED! I was told they started the morning 20 cars behind! What!? Not my problem. When I was told to bring it in I assumed they had their game plan for the day's repairs. A few hours later I was told to fix (what they had messed up originally) would cost ME "their warranty rate" of $500!!!! Yup, I brought it in fine, they messed it up, I needed to pay them $500! WOW! Had another mechanic look at it and he told me FIELDS heated up the part so badly that it put the car out of alignment and he had to replace a part they wrecked - thankfully it only cost me $100. STILL, I HAD TO PAY $100 FOR FIELDS' MISTAKE! THE SERVICE WRITERS ARE RUDE RUDE RUDE when they can't UPSELL YOU! Actually one good thing came from this - we were thinking of purchasing a NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE - now, not even a chance! I thought this was a great place to do business with because my two sisters purchased cars from here's week prior to my visit . I found a car that I liked on line go there to test drive the car to be told by the salesman that I need to look at an Audi since my credit score was low ok cool , with that being said we go for a test drive in the Audi the minute the salesman brings the car to me ,, the transmission light is on in addition you could smell something like it was burning I mention it to the salesman he says that the light cams on because it has been sitting , so during the test time I tell him it not changing gears he says the reason is because it's a foreign can and I am use to driving American . Time comes for him to appraise my car he come to get my keys the funny thing is he ask me do I have any valuables in the car I say just glasses and lunch bag but after they did the appraisal I am thinking like why would he ask me something like that upfront . Plus he told me my credit score was low which was not the truth because I have a credit block on my credit and I have to verified before I can apply for any credit , so I tell the salesman that I am going to leave because he suggested to me to just get the car keep my car and that will work out better but I am all confused because you said my credit score was low so I now I am really running, get in my car everything I had in my front passenger seat has now been pushed to the floor since it was dark I always leave my eye glasses in the front seat , they were gone the salesman said that he didn't see them but offered to help me look for them ,now I am more pissed off . He told me that someone would call me the next day about my glasses no call , so I receive a email from Matilda about my visit. I send a email about my whole experience on Saturday night , so Monday thru Thursday no response or call so I call I ask for the salesman that was on the card that was given to me guess he doesn't work there I explained to the receptionist what happened she says well I need call service and tell them I lost my glasses I abruptly interrupted her to say I did not loose anything so then she changed the story for me to tell service between 9-6 but when I originally came in it was after 6 pm so who performed the appraisal on my car then ? After speaking with her capital on finance finally got me on the phone to verify me for credit and I told the representative that after all I went thru the only way I would buy a car from this place is if they gave me a free one since that isn't going to happen I will call the service department while I wait for a response from the Matilda that says this dealership prides on customer service and satisfaction . This is the worse I go to purchase a car for them to be taken, and yet the consumer (me) is doing all of the run around , emailing phone calls. First off, let me start by saying I made an appointment weeks In advance. These people had my car for three days. I had to call numerous times to find out what was wrong with my car. They had my car on day one, and no one even looked at it and I told them what was wrong with it. Day two I called and asked how long it would take, they to me they would call back in two hours. FIVE HOURS LATER NO CALL BACK...Day 3, THEY STILL HAVENT FIXED MY CAR. I had my father call them to find what was going on because I felt like they weren't taking me seriously. They people tell my dad they do not have the parts, which would have been fine if they had at least called and told me that and that they would call my dad back later that day... Three hours later, my dad calls them back and THEN THEY TELL MY DAY MONDAY OR TUESDAY!! I sent my dad to get my car, I HAVE TO GO YO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP NOW AFTER THREE DAYS!!!! After taking my Dodge Dakota to AAA, they diagnosed the problem as needing a new central timing module that had to be installed by a dealer. I made an online appointment for my Dodge Dakota at Fields after reading Yelp reviews of area Chrysler dealers. I clearly stated that the truck needed a new central timing module. When I arrived for the appointment, I gave Sean Dohoney the detailed inspection report from AAA. Sean claimed that he couldn't use the report and that Fields had to do their own inspection. After five hours, I asked Sean for an update. He said he had to check with the technician and get back to me. Minutes later, he came to tell me what I already knew. The truck needs a new module. However, Chrysler no longer makes that part and therefore the truck cannot be repaired. Then he handed me a bill for $155.00 for an inspection I didn't need. I just wish that he had told me, before he wasted my time and money, that they could not repair the truck. It seems that Fields just wanted to make money. I feel totally disrespected and ripped off! read more

Two star rating because the sales rep I worked with, Kris, was great. Walked me thru the used cars on the lot and actually found a perfect vehicle given the various alternatives and options. That was the easy part. Once you agree on the car, price, trade-in, etc. that's when the snake out of the grass rears his ugly head. Tony might be king of the slime balls I've ever had the unfortunate experience of dealing with. Greed takes over and they (Fields or Tony I'm not sure) try to rape you up the ass. No trust in the customer when it comes to "out for myself Tony". The place is best described as Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde. Kris is a Saint and Tony is the devil. Caveat emptor. read more

Walked into the dealership at 9:15am on wed before thanksgiving. Had my family with me ready to ask some questions about their top of the line SRT Jeep that i have been following. After 15 minutes waiting and strolling around no one approached us asking if they could help us. Looked around and saw many sales people checking us out and continuing on w/ what they were doing -- they didn't look busy. Checked out the Dodge side and came back to give them one more chance but again no one. Walked out and person at front was texting on his phone and looked up and half heartedly asked if they could help us after 20+ minutes in there... take my potential biz elsewhere. I'm on my fourth car from fields - two jeeps, a Volvo, and a BMW Z3. Their service has been simply outstanding over the last 10 years. The sales staff Iwork with have all been quite knowledgeable and accommodating. But let's take a second and discuss my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Back in 07, I was given the opportunity to pick up an unlimited warranty on the wrangler... I think the cost was around $2500. Special shout out to Sean in fields jeep service. He is kept my wrangler running now at 137,000 miles. While the 07 was the new model car, and with all new models, it had some significant issues - the folks at fields, both before and after the factory warranty expired, have been outstanding. Now we are deep into this unlimited warranty, and Sean has become a household name - something breaks we call him we; get it fixed. It's just that simple. This week they are replacing the engine... and the team and Fields is once again coming through, covering their commitments and servicing us as though we bought the car from them last week. Very well done - and the added pizza at lunchtime is a nice touch :-) read more

Car buying experience was as expected. I was there for six hours to make a deal. I was patient and knew it would be a process on a Saturday. After I was off from their "bottom price" by $400 I proceeded to walk out the door. Only to be chased down and said they could go $300 lower. I agreed and left happy with my price and car. However, "the game" wasnt over. I needed to give a control number to them on Monday since they were holding a check of mine for $875. I supplied that and spent another day verifying the information to satisfy the Sales Manager. I was told my check would be returned and I left for vacation. I'm still OK at this point. I come back from vacation and my check was not returned. I check my bank and find it was cashed. Was it a mistake or purposeful? I call and explain how I am not happy. I never speak again with the Sales Manager, he passes me off to the finance guy and my salesperson that I have to tell each of them again what happened. I'm told no big deal they will get my check back to me. I state that is the minimum they owe me, but anything else since I'm quite upset about this and I have to fill out a survey about my experience. My sales guy then proceeds to say and I quote "Well, if you want to ding me on the survey then go ahead." Well that was not my intent until I spoke with you today, but since you insist then I will! And that is the minimum I will do. My advice to any buyer is beware, and realize this is what you can expect. If I did/said these things to people at my place of business I dont think it would go over well. I am extremely disappointed in what transpired with this experience and people will know that. UPDATE: Received a call from the GM after I sent an email today and he apologized and fixed the situation. But why did it have to get to that? Thank you to the GM at least. read more

I brought my van in for service for a side door latch that was stripped. While I was there I had some other issues, such as a windshild washer sprayer on one side, electronic door locks that were malfunctioning, and to check the brakes while they were at it, and an oil change. They informed me of a $132 diagnosis fee, to be charged if you didnt do the work. They called back 2 hours later to say they couldnt fix the door latch because it was related to the electronic door locks, which they couldnt fix. (And I know they are NOT related to the electronic door locks. The mechanic was too lazy to diagnose the problem). But they did say I needed new front brakes for $960, a leaking transmission fixed for $250, and the windchill sprayer for $125. I argued with them about the latch. Then i called the service manager, paid for the oil change, got him to waive the diagnosis fee (no resistance there), and picked up the car. I said I didn't have confidence since he misdiagosed the door latch. After paying for the oil change, and driving away, I noticed that the windshill sprayer was now working! They must have taken 30 seconds to fix it, and was waiting for me to authorize $125 (which I didnt do, thankfully). The van is now at another shop, and I'm waiting for an HONEST assessment of what the vehicle needs. I'm definitely done with Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. read more

I recently almost bought a Jeep Renegade at Fields Jeep in Glenview. My experience there was mixed, but ultimately disappointing. The Fields dealership is very nicely appointed, slick and clean and airy. Unlike most dealerships, they don't just grasp, but embrace, the general concept of customer service. Lots of niceties and perks, state of the art service department, free car washes for life, free loaners, etc. So, good grades on all that. Our salesman, Dennis, was a very nice and earnest guy. His love of Jeeps was sincere, not an act. And his determination to keep the whole process on the up and up, transparent, no sneakiness, was evident. We appreciated that. Of course, as with our other car-buying experiences, there is a tendency on the part of salesmen to shoot from the hip, to give quick easy answers and sometimes make stuff up. In Dennis' case, I don't think this was an intentional ploy. For the most part, he did his best to get real answers, and he patiently explained a lot of the financial stuff repeatedly, though not necessarily clearly. As it turns out, the car we wanted was at a different dealer and they had to go fetch it. We got the impression that they would get the car that evening and we could look at it the next day. We told them we could come to the dealership at 1pm to see the car. When we hadn't heard anything by that time the next day, we called and learned that they had just sent someone to get the car at 2pm. Which meant we wouldn't see the car until 4pm or later. This is when it started to become a problem. We had to leave at 4:30 to get to work on time. On top of that . . . We made the mistake of shopping for our car during the last week of the month. As the end of the month approaches two things happened. We became anxious because some incentive being offered was going to expire and there was no telling what next month's incentive would be, so we were under pressure to pull the trigger before the last day was up. The sales guys also got caught up in what felt to us like a feeding frenzy related to getting the number of cars sold that month up as high as possible. In our case, this led to the blowing up of the deal, at least in part. With a couple hours to go on the last day of the month, as we waited to see the car we were thinking of buying, we were still trying to find any discounts or incentives that might be out there to get the price of the Jeep down to, if not within our budget, at least somewhere in sight of it. So we're sitting at the dealership at 3pm or a little after, with an hour and a half window before we had to leave for work. Either we were going to agree on a deal, or walk away from that last minute at the end of the month deal in 90 minutes. Dennis knew we were there at the dealership waiting, but he let us sit for more than 45 minutes of our hour and a half window, before he turned his attention to our last minute concerns. We thought we had found a couple of online incentives-including a $2000 rebate--that hadn't popped up before. Had these been what we thought they were, it would have lowered the price sufficiently to put it within reach of our budget. But one of the incentives had already been factored in. The other incentive--the rebate--was listed on dealsea.com. However, Dennis could find no evidence that this incentive existed. As we struggled with all this, time ran out. My wife and I simply had to leave. So we started walking away and Dennis asked us to wait while he got his manager, Patrick. Then, the two of them started a sort of desperate "what will it take to put you in this Jeep" pitch, even offering to lop off $300, which presumably had not been possible, according to Dennis, the previous day. We told them that they were missing the point. It wasn't about $300, it was about a couple thousand dollars beyond our budget, and we just hadn't been able to find a way. Dennis and Patrick, I'm guessing, were already counting this sale in their end of month tally and so, for them, it was a real bummer to have to un-count it. On top of that, they had had to get this particular model from some other dealer because they didn't have what we wanted in their own inventory. So now they were "stuck" with this additional car in their inventory. We left, frustrated and with a very bad taste in our mouths. I felt that, after being fairly respectful of our time and our priorities, Dennis had kind of dropped the ball in not respecting our time or our situation on that last day. When the dust had settled, what had looked like a possibly positive car-buying experience went bad. Partly our fault. But definitely partly their fault as well. And, in the end, we didn't buy the too-expensive car. read more

Called throughout the day and they were unable to give me any kind of an update, though they told me they'd call back with more information. I called once more at 6, at which point they told me their service department was closed for the day. I can live with them holding my car overnight, but it's absolutely ridiculous that I have to be the one to call them for this. Totally unprofessional. read more

I must admit since I had a Honda Pilot, I was looking for a 2015 Pilot since the body style changed after 2015. I called ahead and went there for the purpose of buying the Pilot they said they had in stock. I ended up talking to the used car Manager Josh and one of the salesman Max. I must admit I was not looking forward to the purchasing of a car experience. I was pleasantly surprised. After looking at there SUVs, I sold on the Jeep and sold with the Dealership. I have read some of the reviews that others have written and honestly quite surprised at some of the comments made. I have visited business that I have had been a little disappointed with however went back for another try. You all should try the same. Buying a car let it be new or used should be a good experience. I admit that the bookwork can be a little lengthy but with the service they offer ( have some ice cream) make it a great overall experience. read more

The car buying process is terrible. I don't care what anyone says... Its the worst. We went to several places and looked at a ton of cars. I was done. I was about to give up. Then I walked into Fields. This place is elite. When I walked in I was warmly greeted. I didn't feel like fresh meat like at other dealership. I was free to roam around without being bothered. Several people asked me if I needed anything but they weren't pushy. We found the Durango we wanted and then Sean showed up. His no haggle and honest approach was exactly what we were looking for after being attacked at other places. Sean's customer service is top notch. He didn't seem fake like other car salesmen. He treated us like friends and he worked for us, didn't just push paperwork. After we bought our new Durango the dealership was about to close, yet, he still took the time to go over all the features with us. He even told us to come back at anytime If we had more questions. It wasn't just, "here's your car, now leave". If you are looking for a car at Fields ask for Sean. If he's not there, ask for his card and then shoot him an email. He's really your guy.. I didn't buy my Jeep here but I will buy my next jeep here based on the service department. I drive from Chicago to this dealership passing 3 closer ones to get my Wrangler serviced. I was having an issue with my transmission making weird noises. After the first visit, they couldn't get it to make the noise again (Murphy's Law). On my second visit, when they couldn't find something, the shop foreman actually came out to talk to me and drive the car around to see if it would do it again. He was very knowledgeable and really made an effort to discuss the issue. I've never had such a positive experience at a dealer shop. Long story short, the shop foreman worked with Chrysler and got the transmission replaced under warranty. He could have blown me off especially since I didn't buy it here but instead he listened to me and responded when I video recorded the sound and emailed him. Beyond the great service, as mentioned in other reviews, the dealership is one of the nicest Jeep dealerships I've seen. The waiting area is incredibly comfortable with complimentary snacks and water, etc. The service department rivals BMW and Infiniti dealerships I've dealt with. Bravo Fields. read more

Brought my car in for service and was told the repair would be $1,500. I told them not to do the repair and put the part that he said was bad back in my car. When I went to pick up my car it wouldn't start. Odd that it started when I brought it in, now it didn't. The service guy told me "well that's how far gone the part is. It needs to be replaced." I had my car towed off the Fields lot and brought to another dealer 50 miles away. They fixed the problem for $300. They found the problem to be completely different than what Fields had found. Strange! let me add that it was significantly cheaper to have my car towed 50 miles away AND repaired then what Fields wanted to charge me. I was so impressed with this other dealership that I went back and purchased another car from them! Sure, this other dealership didn't have a waterfall, ice cream or leather couches and flatscreen TVs.... But they did have honest people who didn't try to pull one over on me and that's what really MATTERS, Fields!!! read more

I was thinking of buying a new Jeep Grand Cherokee to replace my 4 year old grand Cherokee. I went in and dealt with Sam Mauro, it was a real pleasure working with him. No pressure, very professional, and very thorough. He was great. I decided on a car and put down a deposit. That night I thought about it and decided I wanted a few more options. I called in the morning and Sam was not yet in. I asked for the sales manager Ron Allen who Sam had introduced me to. Ron got me the exact car, with the exact options and color I wanted. When I went in in the afternoon the deal was all set with the new car. It went very smoothly. This was the 6th or 7th car I have bought at fields and probably the best experience of them all. Fields has always been a pleasure to work with. I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of the main reasons I buy my cars at Fields, it is their great service department run by Doug Morris. Doug has been servicing my cars going back to fields bmw on Green Bay road in winnetka. Doug runs a great service department. my son found a jeep he liked on line at fields we went there to buy it. we walked the lot for 25 minutes looking around and found the one he liked from the web. was a little weird that no one came out to help us so we went in . We walked around for 10 to 15 minutes checking out the cars and trucks on the floor. No one came over to ask if we needed any help. We fully intended to buy that night but after 45 minutes there we could not get any help I told my son we had to leave . If this is how they treat people we want no part of them. We drove over to sherman dodge and jeep in skokie and bought a nice wrangler that night. read more

Service was AWFUL. I had heard this several times but just experienced it first hand. It took an hour and a half for an "express" oil change. When I went up to inquire about my car after an hour, they said it would be next and that they had been busy. Very poor communication and disappointing service. read more
