I was in the market for a used car. Jeep was the first stop on my search for a car. I did my "research" Dennis Glauner was super knowledgeable, honest, to the point and informative. He wanted to make a deal, but he did it the right way. I was partially loyal to him and partially loyal to the car so i ended up coming back here after a few obligatory looks at other cars. While it was delivered to me without being properly cleaned, i texted Dennis pictures of the dirty windows, carpets, seams between the seats etc, and he apologized and had me bring it back in and had it properly cleaned for a used car delivery to our expectations. Great atmosphere, clean, spacious, friendly and knowledgeable, i am so glad i chose Fields Jeep. _ note, tony in finance was fast efficient professional and to the point. thank you for matching my Credit Unions APR. we did it . i am the happiest customer in the world. I just bought a Jeep here and was really pleased with my purchase. Northfield is a pretty ritzy area, and I am a pretty middle-income person. Because of this, I was initially concerned that Fields would not be game for cutting me a good deal on a middle-to-lower-end vehicle. I was wrong. I went to Fields first and got an idea of what their prices/deals were. Then I went to 2 other Jeep dealers in the city, in much more working-class neighborhoods. But, lo and behold, the prices at these other dealers were actually worse than at Fields. I also got more hard-sell pressure to buy today, or to settle for a model they had sitting on the lot that wasn't really what I wanted. The buying process at Fields was easy and friendly. My final concern was that, again, being a higher-income neighborhood, they would not be able to give me a good trade-in value for my old clunker with 110K miles. However, they were able to match what I was quoted at Jeep dealerships in rougher areas (where there would presumably be a bigger market for cheap used cars). I see that many of their low ratings here on Yelp are critical of the service department at Fields. I've never known a dealer service department that didn't 1.) take all darn day, and 2.) wasn't overpriced. Thus, I will probably take my new Jeep to the garage I already use and where they know me. read more

I'm so pleased I chose Fields to trade-in my beloved 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland for a new 2017! Everyone, from Melvin that started the ball rolling in Internet Sales, to Maxx, my salesman, and even the Finance Manger were all professional and helpful. I wanted a specific model with options, and Maxx went above and beyond to find it. He even picked it up and brought it to the dealer for me. He spent time going over all the features of the car with me (self-parking was the best!!), to make sure I didn't have any questions. He even installed the new chrome pedals I wanted, and transferred over the tag frame from my old Jeep as he knew it would have sentimental value. We recently purchased a Jeep Cherokee. With a young family, our taste in cars has changed and we targeted going to Fields because were getting our car serviced at a different Fields and had a really nice experience. We ultimately worked with Michael who helped me through the process during a late weekday night. Pros- Michael identified a car with the requirements I was looking for. He stayed well past closing until i was finished working with Sal (in Finance who was good to work with as well). He was professional and pleasant which was appreciated (particularly because our initial salesperson at Fields was not a fit). He made sure I got all of my belongings out of my former vehicle and even went back into to hunt down a few more lost items. Cons- As mentioned above, our initial salesperson was not a great fit. for us. When we walked in, we were just starting our car buying experience. He asked us what we were looking for-- we told him generally what we liked-- and then he handed us a list with 2 point font and told us this was what he had in stock. Not terribly helpful in educating us about Jeeps, etc. We were then told to look online at the stock and the cars we picked out at the price we wanted didn't work for one reason or another. I felt like this was a waste of our time. My expectations are that the associate will help us identify the car that meets our needs. One other bone to pick pick with many car dealerships. We saw a great deal on a Grand Cherokee online and of course it was gone when we got there and there wasn't another to be found. When we pressed a little harder we were told we "didn't want that car". A little strange...We are extremely busy so didn't want to waste a lot of time hassling over that. Overall, 4 stars: 5 for Michael because he ultimately got us into a car we feel good about; and -1 for our initial bad experience and the bait and switch action happening... read more

Over priced service by the mechanics. They wanted 620 dollars for literally a tune up. I refused and I took the auto elsewhere. They charged me $139.95 for a diagnostic test which takes a few minutes. They said they will send me via an email a survey. I am still waiting for the survey. They called to ask me about their service. I told them that I was not happy they said a manager will call me back. I am still waiting. I spent 160.00 dollars with another mechanic and the issue is solved. 620 dollars for a tune up was a joke. They lost my business. read more

Crooks. They tried to hide a 7% interest rate on the financing of a new vehicle. I have a credit rating of between upper 700s and low 800s. I had to ask them over and over again what the rate was and they kept trying to dodge the question. I knew the quotes didn't look right but wanted to give them a chance to be forthright. After having a horrible experience at three different dealerships, I checked out a pre-owned 2015 vehicle at Fields in Glenview. Dennis Glauner was my sales person, and he was awesome! It has a really good vibe to it and the food court is awesome too. We bought a used Dodge Journey at Field's a few years back and the sale was very easy. The salesman was friendly and we did not feel pressured to make a purchase. The car was new enough at the time where it even still had a warranty period remaining. 10 "free" oil changes were included as well. Fast forward over the course of the oil changes, my wife is told we desperately need new air filters for "only" $70! She of course does it. I ask her never to do that again since I put a higher quality carbon filter in myself for $30 for both cabin and engine in less than 5 min time. Field's tries to tell us a few more things are wrong as we near the end of our "free" old changes. The last free oil change rolls around and we get a report that the car will soon need a timing belt, rotors (which were just replaced by NTB), and brakes for a deal at $1600. They tell my wife they can't even in good conscience let her drive off because the brakes are so bad. I am at work, she calls me and I have her leave because I know it's all games. Of course she comes home, we check the brakes and they do need adjusting, but not any sort of replacing and the pads even have life left in them as well. So post-sale they are VERY shady. Fast forward a bit more. Our gas pedal breaks off on I-55 in rush hour traffic with my two small kids and wife in the car. Field's has us call FCA Group (which is the parent company of Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM). This is a whole other experience that I cannot fault Field's for. But, we are told by Sean, the service agent we dealt with that the car will be fixed once the FCA Group case manager approves it. The FCA Group case manager tells me that the case is approved for direct payment to the dealer and the new gas pedal is replaced (with yet another OEM plastic pedal). We get a call stating the work will not be covered despite being a major safety hazard and are told by Sean that he has "devoted too much time to this vehicle and can do nothing else; it is between [us] and Dodge and [we] are going to need to return the loaner and pick up our car. The car will have to be paid for in full for release." I state how unacceptable it is that Sean had the part put in the car and is now requesting payment since the work was only to be conducted upon approval. He stated he was under the impression that it was, but "something changed". His manager Chris Capparelli (service manager) states this was a misunderstanding and to keep the loaner until everything is worked out. The next day he calls and says we need to bring the loaner back, but will "eat the cost." I think this is great, the dealership is doing the right thing. The catch - we pay for the tow from Naperville Dodge to Field's which Sean also stated would be covered. If we don't bring the loaner back, we get charged, if we don't pay the towing fee, we don't get our car back. Since my wife needs to be able to go places while I am at work and needs to bring my kids to school, we need a car, so we'll have to do this. It is interesting that a dealer we did not even bargain with to begin with during the initial sale and whole sold us (stupidly on my part) and extended warranty would not simply pay the towing charge and have us on our way as they originally stated. They know we're in a hard place and have to do it to get the car back. So, now our only option is to recoup all the time we spent on phone calls with FCA Group and Field's, the time spend waiting on the side of the road, the time spent researching options, as well as the tow charge is to deal with litigation. We were advised by an attorney that this is such a clear case that we should not even require services and to press suit in small claims court representing ourselves. It makes no sense to me that the dealership would not pay $164.00 vs.the approximately $1450 after time, charges and court fees are established. It is not about $164. This is about unethical practices conducted by a large company. Companies need to act ethically. After writing this, we ended up going to the dealership and finding out that the tow was mis-stated. It is not $164, but rather $205. Sam told us were unable to speak with Peter the service rep on staff. Furthermore, she could not even make eye contact as she was smacking her gum looking away and working on other things while we were conversing. After showing her the damages we were seeking on the Pro Se court paperwork, she said the price is the price. It is baffling that a company would rather get the negative reviews and go to small claims court for a higher price than simply doing the right thing an paying for the repairs and tow as initially agreed upon in good faith. Also, Field's prides itself on always having a Fields family member present on staff - this is not the case and we could not even get a phone number, email address or appropriate department to address a letter to. Ripoff scam artists. Took my car in as the power steering wasn't working and serpentine belt was loose. Called next day at 4:00pm as I hadn't heard anything. Service advisor said power steering pump needed to be replaced. When asked about serpentine belt he played dumb. Called back and said power steering pump was OK, belt tensioner was bad (obviously forgot my car). Wanted over $600 to replace a belt tensioner (should be $200-$300). having already read my warrenty, I asked if it was covered. After arguing (and him refusing to look it up), I said "You've already flubbed this up...I want my car back." He said "Sure, but you are paying a diagnosis fee" I said "Not after I talk to the shop manager and tell him how you flubbed this up." Talked to Service Manager who confirmed the tensioner is covered, but advised the belt was shredded and needed to be replaced at $140. I called 3 other Chrysler dealers...all wanted $70 for the belt (called Fields who, not knowing it was me said $140). I told them to go ahead and fix it...took them no more than an hour (so $500/hr labor???). Got the belt back and it is fine. In short: - Forgot my car - Lied about diagnosis - Lied about warranty - Lied about belt - $500/hr labor fee - double other dealers for part Good thing my dad was a mechanic and I grew up around cars. Had I not been an educated consumer, they'd have taken me for a ride. read more

I have bought over 10 cars in the last 8 years, everything from Lexus to mini and dodge; I would have to say this was one of the best buying experiences I have ever had. Brought in our jeep because the ignition was sticking and we also wanted an appraisal as we were looking to trade it in. They said they had the part but wouldn't be able to get it for a day or two. We had to call them 4 days later at which point they asked us if we wanted them to order the part. For our 'appraisal' they said we needed at least $2000 in repairs and gave us a lowball offer, so we said no and took it somewhere else (still got charged the minimum inspection fee). The ignition repair was less than half the estimate from fields, the $2000+ in repairs turned into an $800 'if we wanted to keep it, but not recommended if going to sell', and we received an offer for 50% higher than the one from Fields. All in all, we took it to two other places (another dealer and a garage) just to be sure and both were more helpful and neither saw anywhere near the 'problems' that Fields said we needed to correct. If you go here to service your car you are throwing away money. Another example, if you need to change your transmission or differential fluid you can get it done right up the road at national pride for less than half the price. read more

I found Fields through the Costco Auto Program. Everyone I worked with on the purchase of my Jeep Grand Cherokee was pleasant and helpful. I felt like I was being educated (in a good way) and I was amazed that I could actually enjoy buying a car. My Costco Certified Sales rep, Dennis Glauner, was very knowledgeable about Grand Cherokees (and many other cars, in fact) and very patiently explained anything I had questions about. He even helped me set up my vehicle settings, safety features, and navigation before I left the lot. I love cars, but I generally HATE the car buying experience. My wife and I were in the market for a minivan and decided to go to Fields because of their positive reviews on Yelp and Google. We were not disappointed. Our salesmen - Andy Madenberg - was helpful and the negotiation process was straightforward. In full disclosure, we did NOT end up buying a new car from Fields because we got a better deal on a different vehicle elsewhere. Field's is adjacent to HWY 41/Edens on the North Shore. It's kind of a pain to get here, since I have to get to either Tower Road, from the South, or Dundee from the North to reach this dealership. Anyways, service here is hit or miss. I like how there's coffee and food in the waiting area. However, the wait to get your vehicle when it's in for even a basic oil change or cleaning can take a WHOLE DAY. I would still come here since Field's does a great job - just plan on spending your day with Field's. They're slow. read more

I have bought 6 jeeps and been loyal for years to Fields. SOMETHING has changed. I took my jeep for an oil change on a Sat morning. After 3.5 hours I was told it was done. When I got my car the front right bumper was totally cracked up. No one had mentioned this. I was told someone would call me Monday. No one called. I called Chris the service director, left 6 messages over 3 days, no return call. Then was told he's leaving Fields. I finally got ahold of Kenny and was told to come in to look at footage. We agreed there was not a clear picture to prove either way. Then I spoke to Coleen, she said she'd review the tapes. There was a walk around when I dropped car off for oil change. No mention or writing of cracked bumper (Mike told us they always write prev damage on the sheet). We asked for a copy of the sheet and were told the printer was broken. They pass you from person to person with no help, then ignore your calls. I also purchased a 6 year warrantee. This past visit I was told it expired (It should have another year). NO ONE at the dealership could explain this and I was told to bring in my contract and PROVE I had a 6 yr warrantee. I brought it in and was told they'll look into it. Jeep stated the contract was cancelled 3 years after issue, and a new contract was written for 5 years not 6 (NO ONE had ever informed me of this). Paul is kindly looking into the problem and is returning my calls (thankfully). This place has CHANGED BIG TIME. Customer service stinks, treatment stinks. I purchased a 2015 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock Edition from Fields this past Saturday (2/21/15) and had an amazing experience. I worked with Max, Roberto, and Sal. Max was a fantastic salesman, and was willing to work with us as much as possible and make sure that everyone was comfortable. Max loves what he does, is very knowledgeable about products, and was fun to work with. His primary concern was making the whole car buying process as efficient, pressure free, and fun as possible. Roberto, the sales manager, tried his best to give us the best price possible on the vehicle, and we feel like he really did. He was pleasant, and just as receptive as Max. Sal worked with me on the financing and was awesome. Aside from being a hilarious guy to talk to, he was really low pressure, and very realistic about warranties, packages, etc. Overall, I thought the buying experience at Fields was top notch, the staff was great, and the facilities amazing. I'll definitely be sending over more business for the guys, and I'll be in for any necessary services, etc. One last comment on something a lot of other yelpers have pointed out - the dealership was EXTREMELY busy that Saturday, and, although we weren't approached by any salesmen immediately, the team was more than willing to help when we asked the man up front to speak to a salesman (Max got to us in less than two minutes), and from that point on we were very well taken care of. I think that some folks are used to dealerships where salesmen swarm customers, but those are usually the places that are also high pressure. I have purchased a vehicle from Fields before and I was really looking forward to furthering that relationship by purchasing another. I felt that there was an overall lack-luster energy in the showroom. I was looking to purchase a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara and apparently the all-black or all-white models are like unicorns. This was not a problem and I understood their situation. My issue was in their website and the interaction between the site and the sales floor team. Models were listed as available when they weren't. The online sales associate stated that I could hold a car with a down payment when I later learned in a terse note that you could not do this from the sales associate. I felt as if there was little familiarity with the process and I was being batted back and forth; the sales manager and sales associate could have handled this process in a much better fashion. My suggestion would be for Fields to offer their sales team (online associate through floor sales manager) some standardized training on their sales processes. The cumbersome manner in which my case was handled made me feel concerned about any possible follow-through had I been able to buy the Jeep. I'm disappointed that I was not able to work with Fields Jeep. I have nothing but great things to say about Fields Land Rover. I found the Jeep that I was seeking in the same weekend from Ziegler. Their customer experience from soup to nuts was phenomenal. All that being said...I was quite impressed by the grandeur of the building and the sitting area. Apparently they do a lot with the community and that is nice to hear. read more

The new location and showroom is nice, very family friendly. They have a lot of new & used cars in stock. We drove our old Jeep in and drove out in a newer Jeep! The service here is impeccable! I did my entire negotiation online and directly with the sales manager Pat O'Donnell, but I was assisted with the sale process by Jim H. in their sales department. Both are great guys and were very helpful in helping me select the right Wrangler. Their communication via email was fantastic and they were the only dealer in the Chicago Land area that would negotiate pricing via email. Their facility is pretty sweet as well. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE I just picked up my new Chrysler 300 last night. I love the car AND this was the best car buying experience I've had in almost 30 years of buying cars every few years. Michael Schectman, my salesman, and Paul Laton, the sales manager were terrific to work with. Not only did they offer me a deal that beat the competition right off the bat, they went out of their way to find the exact car I wanted. They identified that the car I wanted was located on the south side of Chicago. However, when they could not connect with that dealer after several days they had the car flatbed delivered from Ohio! At their expense!! Each step of the process was conveyed to me in a timely and professional manner by Mr. Schectman. This is my second experience with Fields(I was driving an Infiniti). This review is specifically pertaining to the service department. So back in February 2017, I took my Jeep SRT in for a noise that was coming from the back end of my vehicle and to get the wrinkling off the leather on my dash fixed. At this time, my car had about 43k miles on it. It took the tech Oscar almost three days to diagnose the problem. He came back and said that it was the transfer case that needed replacing. I was told that my car would be ready the following Tuesday which was about a week away. On the day I was supposed to get my car, I did not hear from the dealership so I contacted Oscar to find out when my car would be ready. He informed me that the part had not come in and it would be another week before I would get the car. I asked him if the dash was fixed and he advised me that it was fixed and that it was covered under the warranty. The weekly calls continued for 6 weeks until I finally got my car back. Every week, I would have to call Oscar to get an update on my car. I would assume that they would be the ones calling the customer to keep them updated about the vehicle but I guess that is not how they work. Upon picking up my vehicle and being excited to finally be in my car again, I didn't take a look at the dash to confirm it was fixed as they were in possession of the car for 6 weeks and Oscar told me that the repair was completed. Fast forward a couple weeks and the car starts making the same noise again along with other noises. I take the car back in and was told that there was a misfire on one of the cylinders, the lifters needed to be replaced and the cam shaft needed to be replaced. I advised the tech that the car was still also making the noise from before. Once again, I left my car at the dealership for about 2-3 weeks. I was told the problems were fixed and off I went. A day after I left the dealership, I called them back to inform them that the car was making the same noise. I took the car back in and went on a road test with the shop foreman. He agreed that a noise was present and that was not normal. So I left the car with them yet again. It sat there for a couple days before it was worked on. It was deemed that a valve cover needed to be replaced in the transmission. After another week, I picked up the car. I drove about 10 miles to my house and noticed right away that the noise was still there but even worse my transmission was shifting very hard and banging when going down in gear from 4th to 1st. I'm not mechanic but I know this is not normal. My truck was not doing this when I dropped it off. I sent a message to Mike and he said that he needs to consult the shop foreman. He informed me that this is normal since they had to open the transmission. He said to drive the car for a few hundred miles and the transmission should adapt and will be smoother. Well I drove the car for another 1k miles with no change. So again I bring it to the dealership. This time it sat on their lot for 4 days before it was even test driven. I was called by Mike who told me that the car was driven by the shop foreman and his feedback was that these cars with this mileage 60k makes those noised and shifts that rough. I honestly don't think it was test driven this time because the car was sitting in the same parking spot it was when I stopped by two days earlier to pick up something I left in the car. In my opinion, they have been trying to diagnose the issue with no luck, so instead of being honest about that, they are saying this is normal. If it was normal, why did they replace multiple parts on my vehicle trying to fix the problem? I am very disappointed in the service I have received at this dealership. My vehicle is still under warranty which I paid a substantial amount for. I am not asking for an special treatment, just for my vehicle to be fixed so I can enjoy it. read more
