The flavor options walk the line between novelty and flavor very well. Unique flavors that you will actually enjoy eating. I got the golden milk and matcha mochi. The two flavors go together very well. My partner got Cornbread Honeybutter, Coconut Lemon Saffron (vegan) and Mango Sticky Rice (vegan). Her flavors were also fantastic. We sampled a few others and enjoyed everything we tried. The service was also exceptional. The lady that served us went above and beyond to make sure we got something we liked. Most of the time it's awkward asking to sample "too many" options but she encouraged to keep trying different flavors to make sure we found our favorite. We went here for the vegan options since my mother-in-law is vegan and for our last night visiting my in-laws. My husband got a double scoop of Oregon cherry & cornbread honeybutter. He loved it! It had chunks of cornbread in it, and I expected it to be strange but it was actually VERY good! It complemented the icecream very well. Talk about a unique flavor! But it works. I had a double scoop of the the lavender salted caramel & the brownie vs blondie. The lavender and salted caramel flavors were more subtle than I wanted-- I would've liked to taste more of those. It took me a few tastes to figure out if they gave me the right flavor, but I do appreciate the effort to make an original flavor as such, because you never see that combination! The first thing I noticed as I entered their door, was a weird smell. However, we drove all the way to this place so we wanted to try before we pass on the judgement. I tried three flavors and none of them were good, strawberry had a bad after taste to it. So I picked vanilla the most safest option. However, the icy ice cream and no sugar to the actual ice cream is what I got in their vanilla ice cream interpretation. Anyways, I am not going back and you can decide it for yourself. Let me say they ppl here were so friendly!! Not that this part matters but the person taking my order complimented a shirt I was wearing and I can honestly say it was well received! This is my new favorite ice cream place in Portland. It has exotic flavors without feeling pretentious or having a long line. I may like the non-dairy flavors more than I like most dairy flavors which says a lot about the quality of their product. They do a great job with fruit flavors. I first went to this location for an ice cream crawl meetup. The woman scooping was super friendly and knowledgeable. Her parents were there visiting to get ice cream but she was still focused on her group. Her descriptions of the ice cream were spot on. It also helped that Fifty Licks mentions which flavors contain gluten on their menu. I tried the cornbread and mango sticky rice flavors. The cornbread flavor had a ribbon of honey butter going through it. The mango sticky rice flavor was decadent but not too sweet. Since this visit was part of a "crawl" where we visited multiple shops I liked that I could get mini scoops. The walk up window was convenient and made me feel safer. Then a few days ago I ordered delivery via Uber Eats. The ice cream arrived super cold even though the driver had to make a stop along the way. I got two dairy free ice creams -- chocococomel and banana and loved both. I look forward to eating more ice cream from here. read more

TLDR: Awesome vegan flavors! Waffle cone is gluten free but not vegan. It was one of the crazy hot days and nights in Portland, it wasn't the best father's day... so we almost stayed home to wallow and soak up air conditioning. But I was still determined to celebrate fatherhood, the good and the ugly, luckily, Fifty Licks was open till 10pm. We drove, found parking down the street and got in line with about 15-20 other people ahead of us and then some more behind us. There were also large groups of people eating ice cream/hanging out. The line went fast and their COVID precautions/takeout set up was spot on. The store itself was closed off to customers, so the line wasn't as bad as when it first seemed. There's a plexiglass barrier at the front door, the cashier had a table and a microphone. Hearing each other was incredibly clear. The menu had large font and was behind the cashier. They also have their menu online so you pick a few flavors before ordering. I say pick a few flavors because you don't know what they might be sold out of. After the first bite, my eating partner's eyes grew wide, "OMG I'm so glad we actually came out to get ice cream." The flavors were bold and the texture super creamy, it would be hard tell the difference between dairy and non dairy ice cream. We got the mango sticky rice and bananas foster - both vegan flavors. Both so amazing. The mango sticky rice was delicious with a delicate rice flavor - one might think that rice ice cream would be more watery and taste like vanilla - not this one! The bananas foster was sooo banana-y. Bananas are not my favorite but they were in this ice cream! The 2 flavors went well together but I think it'll be better to have them in separate cups next time, so the mango sticky rice can shine on its own. There is an awesome selection of vegan flavors. The prices are $$ and there's no price difference for vegan vs. dairy. They have a gluten free waffle cone! But sadly for me, it's not vegan. Ultimately, my favorite part was the cats who hung out in side alley of the store. They belong to an employee and are soooo friendly! I probably spent just as much time eating ice cream as I was petting one cat while trying to get the attention of the other. I enjoyed the subtle rice flavor and the strong pandan flavor. I grew up with pandan so it was fun to enjoy it with my American friends. Waffle cones were made on sight in front of us, but weren't anything too special in flavor. Service was great! Super friendly, helpful, and let me try as many flavors as I wanted. Nothing super extraordinary. Got there and sampled a bunch of different flavors. The people working there were very gracious and really nice. They definitely have a great staff. But when I was trying the flavors - like Thai rice, I couldn't help but think, "I wish I could have some actual Thai rice with mango." And maybe that's what was missing - mango toppings would be a nice twist. Another example was the golden milk. When I sampled that I just keep thinking, "ah a cup of warm golden milk would be good right now." I also tasted the banana pudding. I just thought the banana was too much of the banana extract flavor instead of natural banana. (I think I've been influenced a lot watching the Great British Bake Off - they really don't like their "banana essence") I ended up with the french toast ice cream. It tasted like the milk where the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal had been sitting. Which was pleasant! In conclusion to this super long review, I don't think I would be craving to really go back to this place. It's just ok. read more

I like their vanilla flavor as you can see the vanilla bean. It tastes "super vanilla-y". The Water Avenue Coffee flavor is good. I normally don't drink coffee, but I do like the flavored ice cream. The Thai Rice flavor is definitely unique, but tasty. It has a hint of pandan in it. The employees are friendly and patience as I was able to try multiple flavors before ordering. I think that's right (all I really remember is that it was amazing and was some sort of berry flavor) This place almost has an old school vibe, and is cool because there are comics all over the walls!
