The wait staff was extremely rude. We stood at the entrance for 20 minutes while there were open tables. When we finally had a fleeting conversation with a server, because there wasn't a host, the server was extremely short and condescending towards us. I'm not sure if the maltreatment that my group and I experienced was a result of a lack of professionalism or if it was due inadequate staffing, but it was completely unwarranted. I don't even know where to start. The location of this restaurant is so far out and in a random neighborhood of Spenard. Parking sucked. They take no reservations and your entire party needs to be here before you can be seated. Once seated you have the choice of either a bottle of wine or their house wines by the glass. They do not rotate their bottles that are stored. The house wines are terrible and the only wine you can get by the glass. When I decided to get a bottle after trying the house Merlot the waitress gave me a heavy side eye. I was most unimpressed with that. The food was okay. The chicken parmigiana tasted very bland. The chicken tasted boiled and unseasoned. The shrimp gamberi was mediocre and nothing impressive. The appetizers were the best thing on the table. Overall this place is usually very busy and I am unsure why the entire ambiance of the restaurant is very old. The mirror in the middle of the restaurant is deceiving making it hard to find your table if you are not familiar with the place. I would give the overall food a 6/10. The restaurant a 4/10 (considering parking, decor, and service). I'd rather cook at home for these prices. read more

The young man taking waitlist names kept saying he couldn't serve (underage) but he didnt work at all to get another server's attention to pour a glass of wine for someone waiting. 2nd try and I don't know if I would go back. It's frustrating because there is so much potential here! The bartender is amazing, drinks are hands down the best in town. Some of the food is incredible. The service however is so horrible it just ruins everything else. I give grace to the serving industry right now because I realize how hard it is. Arrive around 0530 with a couple small groups waiting in line. We stood there for 20 minutes, ( there are no seats in the waiting area) with no communication from staff before talking with one of the other waiting parties. They were told wait time for a table was an hour and the bar was full. We stood in line for another 45 minutes without any communication from the staff... there was no wait list, we were not informed as to when a table might be available, ETC. Several people walked through the line into the bar, where we were told no seats were available. We left after an hour at which time there were 20 people behind us. Super disappointing..this is the second Yelp review I've ever left... I've never felt more disregarded as someone trying to patronage a business. read more

We'd heard about this place for years but had not gotten a chance to try until now. We arrived right after opening so we were seated right away. Very cool interior and our server was great - very friendly. We ordered the calamari appetizer, had the house made soup and two entrees. The pros are - giant portions and everything was served piping hot. The cons are - even though there was a tremendous about of food, it was all flavorless/bland and the penne pasta was over cooked and falling apart. The calamari was the deep fried steak pieces served with a marinara sauce. It ended up being a little on the tough/chewy side and the sauce needed salt. For entrees, we tried the veal parm and the stuffed chicken with cheese sauce. The sauce was actually very delicious, but there just wasn't enough of it to make of for the rest. The prices were very expensive as well, but I think the portions offset the price. I'd rather have smaller portions with bigger flavor. The bar selection looked amazing and is pretty famous, so we would go back to have drinks and sit at the bar, but would probably pass on the food. read more

With as long as the wait for food was I was already skeptical on whether it was worth it. I have to say that it was! We were told it would be an hour before we'd get our food and they were pretty spot on with the estimate. Once we were seated we were able to order but with the understanding that there were a few tables orders ahead of us. The stuffed chicken was DELICIOUS. Didn't ask how many calories were in it but I ate the entirety of the plate. It was THAT GOOD! The Pizza was ok. It was our first time going there so we weren't sure what to order but I think we'll stick to the pasta dishes and save Pizza for Moose's Tooth or Dominos. Outside of the wait, I was disappointed that they were a family owned restaurant and didn't have a changing table in the restroom. I heard the bar was legit although we didn't partake in any libations. If you're willing to wait/aren't hangry, def try it out and get the stuffed chicken! The chocolate cake was pretty epic too! Food was great . Service is super slow for seating and getting drinks but after they were able to take our order the food went out quickly. We got there at 7:30 and did not leave until 10:30pm so you have to make time to be there. The bar selection is huge and their drinks were AWESOME. I tried the Passion fruit martini and the pisco sour! Skip the calamari that appetizer was very disappointing but otherwise food was delicious. I had the Melanzana Rollatine and loved it. I've been coming to the place for about 3 years now. It's a pretty laid back Italian restaurant with a wide variety of whiskeys to choose from. Going in the door, it oozed charm and character and gave the feeling it had not changed in 40 years, surprising considering it has only been in this location for 25 years or so. The hostess and wait person were warm & friendly & made me feel comfortable and welcome as a solo diner. I ordered the Negroni cocktail & it was delicious although served on the rocks rather than in a cocktail glass as I'm accustomed to. I ordered the veal with grappa sauce. Expecting thin, tender melt in the mouth slices, I was dismayed to receive thick medallions which required a stout steak knife to cut, served with a side of nondescript penne pasta. Flavor was decent, not anything to write home about. Salad was fresh but similarly unremarkable. I would probably try this place once more and maybe question the waitress a little more closely about the specialties of the house. read more

Pros - I enjoyed the food, the environment was really nice and drinks were great (definitely recommend the peach cocktail) Cons- Came in at about 6:45 wasn't seated till after 8 than waited an additional 45 mins for the entrees. Ended up being there till about 9:30. Didn't enjoy the sautéed mushrooms very much. I understand food takes a while for quality, but almost 2 hours for seating and ordering is entirely too long. Always say yes to Fiori! This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Anchorage! This family owned and operated gem is superb. My favorite is the Wayne steak - which is always succulent and cooked perfectly to your liking. It comes topped with onions and mushrooms - both amazing- and that sauce! I can not express how amazing that grappa sauce is... words simply can't do it justice. I've also tried bites of the stuffed chicken which is also fan The only downside is the wait - understandable as it's family owned and operated and very very very worth it! I can't speak for the food, I just went here to meet some friends that were eating dinner. I had a couple beers. First of all: this is the funkiest building and location of just about any restaurant I've seen in Anchorage. If you think "Man, I'm probably not supposed to be here..." then, you're in the right place! Very warm and welcome inside ambiance. I sat at the bar. The bar is low, it's low-down. You'll feel like a kid. A kid that can drink beer. Anyway, the folks that were working here were awesome. A man came out and we talked about world politics for an extended period of time. He was great and full of wisdom. And generally happy for us to be there. It reminded me of being a clueless 20-something, backpacking through Europe and befriending random people. Except that I felt like I was family. I'll definitely be back, and this time I'll get some food. read more

Fiori D'Italia is in the oddest location, smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood. We've taken many there for the first time and find ourselves warning them about its location and exterior of the building. It's quite homely outside, but that's forgotten once you step through the front doors. It's your typical old world Americanized Italian restaurant inside. Service is decent, food has always been wonderful! The Wayne steak is super tasty and always cooked spot on and honestly, the Chicken Marsala is incredible. I mean it is truly luscious... I give them four stars due to the fact that they refuse, and I mean adamantly refuse to swap out the pasta for vegetables on the plate, even if you're paying for a side of vegetables. So... the pasta is wasted and put off to the side while I'm trying to scoop the vegetables onto my plate with a fork. I have no problem with paying more for the veggies, but I hate wasting the pasta when I don't want it. So pasta goes to waste and could've been put on someone else's order. That to me is a total bummer. I'd just really like to be served Chicken Marsala and veggies on a single plate, even while paying an extra $5 for the veggies. read more

I have taken more than a dozen friends here throughout the years, and none have ever been disappointed. It's true, I have waited for my food anywhere from 30-90 minutes before. It's also true that Fiori is on the pricier side. I don't care. This restaurant has served well both as a quiet place to eat/have drinks and catch up with old friends, as well as for many birthdays and special events. The Involtini di Pollo con Prosciuotto Formaggio is so. good. It is my Fiori favorite - a prosciuotto and cheese stuffed chicken breast covered with whatever their house white sauce is! The sauce is to-die-for. You don't need an appetizer because portions are large, but if you like cheese and you must get an appetizer, the simple but perfected Fried Mozzarella Cheese is my recommendation. They make the marinara there and it's a must try. Fiori d'Italia's location is a bit hidden and seemingly difficult to find, so I suggest using GPS your first time. read more

It used to be decent but they just don't care anymore. I think they pride themselves on pissing people off with the long wait times and try to make it seem like an "authentic old school Italian place" but in reality it's an over rated 80's dump with poor service, over priced food and dirty bathrooms. Been wanting to try this place since I bought my home two streets away almost two years ago. I walked down on a sunny day with my cousin to give it a try. It's hidden gem in a neighborhood, a delicious secret! The decor may be a little outdated, but fancy finishings don't impress me, delicious food does and I was not disappointed! The waitress was very warm and friendly. She asked if we had been in before and then gave us some suggestions throughout the menu. I had the stuffed chicken which is a chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto, cheese and sage and topped with a white sauce. Meals are served with a soup or salad, side of pasta and a large basket of garlic bread. Let me tell you that white sauce was PHENOMENAL. Rich by so so so good. The sauces are made from scratch every day. My cousin had Wayne's steak and she said it was he best steak she had had in a very long time. It looked very good, but didn't get a sample :) she also had a pear cocktail which was very strong but also very good she said. We both had the mango strawberry cheesecake for dessert and it was bright and refreshing and a great finish to the meal. I look forward to many many good meals here! Best bar selection in town. If you like obscure, hard to find, high end selections? This is the place to go. I'd like to say that I've tried everything on the menu, but for the past 8 months of going there I still get the stuffed chicken (an Italian version of cordon bleu, but with sage and prosciutto and a white sauce that I would probably be willing to bathe in if I could purchase enough of it--yes, it's that good) every single time. Make sure you take enough time to fully enjoy your meal. This is not an Olive Garden, yo. The food is freshly made and it takes a while to get your meal, so go on an evening where you aren't feeling rushed.
