We walked in and waited several minutes. Someone rudely asked "how many?", to which we replied "two", to which she replied "do you have reservations?", to which she said nothing and walked away. After several more minutes we heard a lady tell a man by himself that it would be an hour and twenty minutes.. we tried asking if it was the wait time, or for any specific item on the menu because we only overheard the end of the conversation, but were unsuccessful in obtaining a response. What a great meal. When we walked in, the aroma was enough to make you hungry. Oh what a wonderful smell. My sweetheart and I had pizza which was terrific, the crust had a nice crunch and it seemed strong enough to support its own weight if I were pick it up and eat it, but, alas, I used a fork. I had an 18 year old McCallan Scotch, I could get used to that, then I had a drink called "The Dude" really good. My Babydoll had "Fire Engine Red" super good beer. She refused to solve this problem and insist that is our problem and we should pay for it. I've lived in Alaska for over half my life and I had no idea this restaurant was even here until a few days ago. I can see why since the restaurant is located in an unassuming brown building in a primarily residential area in Spenard. Anyway, I've glad I finally learned about this place and had the chance to visit. While the outside looks like some kind of office building, there is a nice cozy ambiance inside. The interior reminds me of some of the restaurants in the North End in Boston. There's cases of wine and liquor bottles near the entrance and plenty of space between tables and booths. I went with some coworkers and we shared some appetizers and a pizza. My favorite was the caprese, which was fresh and delicious. We also had calamari, which was okay, and escargot just for the novelty. It was better than I expected, but not something I would eat regularly. There's a bar with an extensive wine list and cocktail menu. I got some kind of sangria drink with fresh fruit which was a little too sweet for my liking. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The large pizza was large enough for all four of us to share. It was hot and fresh and the texture of the crust was just right. I do wish I had the chance to try one of their pasta dishes, so I will definitely have to make another visit just for that. Overall, pleasant dining experience. read more

There was 3-4 empty tables with a line to the door waiting to be seated in the smallest waiting area in existence. Waited 30 minutes with no acknowledgement of staff who would run by with their heads down to the floor. Bar seating is self serve which is extra annoying if you're standing in line and watch people go from the back of the line to try to seat themselves at a table near the bar We left and ended up going to a cute ramen place 2 minutes from there. Amazing food! But the wait is forever and that is me saying on a weekday. I would not recommend the weekend. You have to wait with your whole party in line before you can get seated. I think they need more waiters I understand there is a shortage but if that's the case only open for the days you can work with the staff needed. We came in at 5 got seated at 6 and didn't get our food till 7:30-8ish. That is ridiculous. The food is amazing but the whole waiting game does not make it worth it. Plus after waiting all that time our chicken even came out raw and they had to take it back in the kitchen. When I called for reservations they said they are always 2 weeks out on weekends. 3 out of 4 guests arrived on time for the reservation and the place was empty, but they still wouldn't sit our party until the 4th guest arrived. Husband and I were in town for his work, a client of his recommended this place with rave reviews about the food. Stood at the door for over 15 minutes after being told twice someone will be with us soon. Mind you no one was in front of us. After being clearly ignored by everyone we left, if they weren't interested in our business it would have been nice to say so instead of making us wait. Came for dinner with a friend. Request for the spaghetti to be cooked aldente and the waitress told me that it cannot be done because its pre-cooked !!!!! An Italian restaurant with precooked spaghetti???? Toward the end of my meal we saw in my plate a small insect. Cooked. I told the waitress nicely she took the plate away apologize and brought us the check...we did not asked for the check....needless to say that they did not subtract from the check the item (it was an side dish, roasted garlic potatoes) from the check nor a manager came to apologize or even offer anything. Found this restaurant on yelp and decided to give it a try. First the address is a little deceptive, it is actually in a building off of Arkansas Dr, the map did take me directly. Walk-in and the decor is dark and a little dated, and the music is something my parents would love and actually I knew most of the songs. But let me tell you the food was delicious. Our waitress was very helpful with suggestions. I had the Involtini DI Pollo Con Prosciutto Formaggio was tender and tender and wonderful flavors. The cream sauce was wonderful cheesy flavor that complimented the chicken well. Family member had the Wayne's steak and enjoyed it greatly. I am so upset by the service at this restaurant. We arrived at 6:15, and at 7:30, we leave without being seated, neither have the people in front of us. No staff members even greeted us or asked us about our party number. They are operating under the fact that people will eventually get tired and leave, and then they won't have so many people to serve. I'm struggling to understand how this "establishment" has so many positive stars. There is absolutely nothing worse than being excited to go out to dinner at a nicely Yelp rated restaurant and ending up with service that you would expect from the DMV. My friends and I came into an almost empty restaurant. Exactly 5 tables were occupied with 2 waitresses running around. We waited to be seated and were not acknowledged for 5 minutes. Then, finally, one waitress asked us how many people were in our party, I responded with 3. We then waited another 5 minutes before we were seated. That's a total of 10 minutes to be seated at an almost empty restaurant. The service countiued to decline like the American economy circa 2008. We waited another 10+ minutes to get waters and be welcomed to our table. I won't complain about the time it took the food to come out because it is apparently made to order.... But the service....the service was the thing that left a bad taste in our mouths. Long delays, no apologies or acknowledgement. We couldn't wait to get out. The food was heavily average. Nothing to get excited over. If you don't mind long waits and poor service, by all means, pay this place a visit. read more

Went here with my fiance and some work friends of his. We got there at 7pm. The note on the wall in the cramped waiting area says all members of your party must be present to be seated and no more than 8 people to a party and no reservations. Weird but OK... We are told it will be a 2 hour wait just to be seated yet plenty of tables open. Eventually we are seated around 8pm. I go upstairs to use the restroom because its up a bunch of stairs for some reason. The stall doesn't lock, there's some carpet in the bathroom (yuck), and for some reason, there's no trash can in the stalls for tampons which is pretty unsanitary. I get back to the table and we're told we can't order any food yet just drinks or dessert. I order my drink, group orders theirs, older waitress suggests old man drink for my fiance which from me knowing him, doesn't sound like something he would drink and of course he didn't care for it. Might I mention drinks took about half an hour to get? We ask to order appetizers and lady says we can order it with the main course which we finally get to order close to 9pm. We tell her we know what we want. She cuts us off because she wants to tell us HER favorites anyway. Takes awhile to take the order. Food comes out close to 9:30pm. We do get the appetizers first but main course basically followed. Get this, my fiance and I ordered the same exact thing (whatever the seafood Alfredo was called) yet mine was full of flavor and his was bland. We both tried each others to confirm. We told the waitress we want to split the check (6 of us total, split 5 different ways)and are told they don't do that. The check was illegible and we asked again if we could split it somehow so she rewrites it based on how we wanted to split it and walks away. I don't know how long she was gone, but after a half an hour of waiting, my fiance and I walked out and we cashapped whatwe owed to his coworker whenever they were able to finally pay the bill. Which we received the text from them at 10:50pm so not sure if that's how long she took but I wouldn't be surprised. Food was meh, service was the absolute worst, the weird policies are a bit much, and the bathroom is gross. read more

This is hands down, one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in Anchorage AK. First off, it's family ran which I love. The staff actually cares about their customers and business. That being said, in these times and circumstances all restaurants are extremely understaffed. Think about how this is family ran... If someone in your family gets covid, it's likely a ton of others do as well. That's what is happening with the short, overwhelmed staff in this facility. If you don't have time to wait, you should probably go elsewhere. Aside from all that gunk, this place is amazing. The food is the best Italian food i've ever had (sorry grandma), worth every dime. My wife and I tried this place after reading Yelp reviews, when another Italian restaurant's dining room was just too warm on a 80 degree Anchorage day. I can't believe we're never heard about such a good restaurant in Anchorage. Thank you to all of the reviewers who recommended the stuffed chicken. It was delicious. The halibut with toasted almonds and white sauce was also delicious, but my wife thought the sauce on the accompanying pasta was a bit on the sweet side. We didn't try any adult beverages, but the owner must be a fan of high end liquor. There are display cases full of what looks like a small fortune in whiskeys lining the entry way. My guess is that this would be a good place to order a cocktail. The atmosphere is nice--comfortsble, but not unnecessarily fancy. Lighting isn't too bright. We'll definitely be back. read more
