We came here on a Sunday afternoon at 2, and the place was packed. After a few minute wait, we were seated in a comfy booth and greeted by a bright, chipper waitress. We got the mixed orange juice (carrot, orange, and a few more), cobb salad, ricotta lemon pancakes, sides of bacon and eggs, and each and every thing we ordered was freshly prepared and delicious. Service was prompt, attentive, and cheerful, tough to do when the kitchen is backed up a bit with a late lunch rush slam. The space was open, comfy, bright, and well cooled (it was HOT outside), which puts it in the top 10% of Dallas eateries in the middle of the summer. This is a late review and I cannot even remember what I ordered. I think it was some sort of egg sandwich and the farm house. Egg sandwich was okay. Nothing memorable here. The farm house was also okay and came with a lot of potatoes. Interestingly, they don't give you a print out of your receipt after payment. I thought that was weird but whatever. Million dollar bacon is really really really good. I mean, we know bacon is always good. You cannot mess up bacon. But they have found a way to improve it by adding sweet brown sugar goo. You should go for that alone. I had the oatmeal, which sounds bland, but isn't once they are done with it. And it comes with a big ol' muffin and some fruit. My friend had the Chickichanga, and said it was top notch. The prices are steep. The portions are not large. There's plenty of parking. Service was good. My friends and I came to First Watch yesterday and it was just okay. We were able to get a booth made me feel as though we were tucked away. The place was packed when we got in, but our server was friendly and attentive nonetheless. The place has a casual fast diner feel to it which can be cozy, and the menu items were fairly affordable. I ordered the veggie sandwich, a juice (the one with beet in it), and decaf coffee with honey. The food was 'okay.' I thought it could have used a bit more flavor, and maybe an add on plant protein, while the drink was uniquely flavorful. Overall, I enjoyed the experience because of the service, and, while this wouldn't be my first choice because of the menu offerings, I am glad that I got to try a new brunch place out. read more

After the initial excitement of having a new brunch place in Lake Highlands, this is no longer one of my favorite places. Pluses: limited outdoor seating that faces parking lot, super friendly and attentive staff, bright and clean eating area, and wait list seems to move pretty quickly. Minuses: inflated post-Covid prices (like everywhere else) and lack of simple breakfast plates. The menu was made to be fancy to justfy the prices. For example, the side of bacon is greasy, chewy and over-seasoned. They have a seasonal menu but to me the food is still bland. The sandwiches, which go by fancy names, don't have a special taste. I'm not a health nut, so maybe there are folks that go for the healthy-sounding fancy menu items. The past couple of times, I suffered from sticker shock because the food was not worth what I paid. read more

11-16-20 9am I was in Dallas Texas on business and First Watch Café' was recommended by Paul as great place to have a healthy breakfast. Upon walking the restaurant was not crowded just a few tables. Our greeter was also our server, Melanie. She made every effort to make us feel welcomed. After taking our drink order and some menu suggestions, Melanie took our order, we ordered the Avocado Toast, whole grain toast, toasted crisp, topped with fresh smashed avocado, seasoned and a side dish of 2 poached eggs. Avocado was creamy and fresh tasting, the poached eggs just ok, misshaped, over done, seem to be a struggle, untrained. Also ordered the Power Wrap, with egg whites, turkey, spinach , mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes. This was d'lish! light, very tasty, crisp and healthy. Lastly, we ordered the house specialty, The Classic Eggs Benedict, the experience went down hill from here quickly. Melanie, brought the dish out, I noticed the hollandaise was broken and almost clear, no color and a very sour taste. The poached eggs were grossly malformed missing most of the egg white. I was able to get Melanie's attention, I asked her, is this what the dish is supposed to look like, after a long pause, she said yes. She then very nicely removed the plate. I then ordered two soft scrambled eggs, after waiting for some time, Melanie brought my soft scrambled eggs. The eggs were not soft scrambled, it was a chopped up loosely fried egg. An additional thought, surprisingly, I never saw a manager, nor did they ever come by the table. Not a great experience for a first timer, perhaps I will revisit again. I've been here 5 or 6 times now. I go here over other breakfast options for perceived healthier options. Service is always good but the food is just ok. Today's barbacoa bowl was so disappointing. It was more like wet nachos. There was so little barbacoa in there that it wouldn't have filled the little jelly dish. The pile of soggy chips made up over half the dish. It would also be in keeping with the healthier options to have real cream - not shelf stable International Delight plastic single serve containers on the table. read more

I was almost turned off by the rating, but then I saw it was all from nit picky people complaining about bs. So glad I ignored them. I got the meal delivered so that did effect me, but everything was perfect. I got the power wrap, cheese grits, and purple haze. Grits were think and perfect, power wrap had the best flavor, and the purple haze was delicious! I am again, so happy I skipped those reviews. I will definitely pay them a visit soon.
