The staff is super sweet, friendly and helpful. Food comes out pretty quickly. Water glass bottle at the table so you can self refill. Hot coffee is good quality and comes in a good sized refillable thermal stainless steel carafe. Came for brunch. The kids menu has good choices (waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, French toast, grilled cheese, granola bowl). The tropical sunrise drink was very good, not overly sweet and very refreshing. A first alright....First time my entire meal came out cold or room temperature at best. Cold and hard waffles where the butter won't even melt, cold rubbery pancakes and cold sausages. Sounds like a recipe for food poisoning rather than a yummy breakfast. It took 15 minutes to even get water, another 20-25 minutes to get a table of cold food and have to send it back and wait another 10 minutes. Located in a strip mall, First Watch, a chain, is an unexpected place to grab fresh juice and breakfast. Meeting a friend who lives nearby for an early lunch, the diverse menu convinced me to order breakfast. For $8.69, I ordered two large chocolate chip pancakes. I also ordered a side of bacon and wow, I'm so glad I did. Four strips of bacon comes out with some herbs and maple or honey (something sweet). To drink, I got the "Morning Meditation," a fresh juice with orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger, agave, and beet. Stir it to make sure all the flavors pop. Service was impeccable and the space large. On Friday morning, 2 January, a friend and I went to the Falls Church First Watch. We waited several minutes before someone came to our table. He told us that he would be right us but waited longer. He took our order and like always, I ordered the Barcona omelette "very, very, very, very, very soft" because I do not like brown/burned eggs. He put our order in and never came back over to ask us if we needed anything else until our food came. My friend ordered the lemon pancakes which the food runner delivered. She had another dish that contained a burned egg, telling me that that was mine which I told her that there is no way that was mine because I ordered mine "very, very, very, very, very soft". Our server came up and saw it and said "oh, my". He told me that he would order me another one. 13 minutes later ... 13 minutes later!!!!! My friend had already finished his meal and I had to start on mine since it took them so long to prepare it. There were no more than 5 more tables that were occupied. And then they wanted me to pay for the whole breakfast? Are you kidding me? The cashier acted like nothing had happened and I questioned why I had to pay for a meal that was not prepared right AND took so long to get another one after my friend had finished his breakfast. She asked me if I wanted to talk to the manager and I said yes but my friend said that he didn't want to deal with it anymore because he was too upset. This is not the first time it has happened to me. It's probably happened 6 or 7 times. Cooks are First Watch don't seem to know what they're doing. We only came there because my friend wanted to try it out, but would never definitely never return. I have told several friends about what had happened and a few of them told me that they would never go back there because of all of the problems!!!!! I have noticed that the crowds are not as big and it doesn't take the long to make a reservation anymore which doesn't surprise me at all. Disappointing! I received their new flyer and the food looked delicious; I hadn't been there in almost a year. I was hungry and arrived at 1:45pm (they close at 2:30pm). When walking in, the guy at the front looked at me, then his watch as I was waiting to be seated. I asked to be seated in the far corner. The server told the other server she had a customer but she never came to the table. Then after waiting longer than needed, I asked the guy if there a section where I can be served; he moved me and took my order. The food took longer than it should have and when I got it, the sausage was freaking cold. I was looking for the server who served me but another guy walked up asking if he can help me (he was the guy at the front who was looking at his watch; HE was the Manager). I told him what happened and all he said was "I'm sorry. I'll..." I told him I was just going to leave. Why not say let me make it right and give you a complimentary meal for a future date? I was bummed because I was hungry and thought this was a great place. Kept hearing about this place, so tried it on a Sunday at 11am. It was really busy, so put my name on the waiting list for a 30 min wait. Luckily it's in a shopping center with Ulta, so I went there to kill time. True to their word, they texted about 30 min later and my party was promptly seated. The menu has lots of yummy sounding options. I went with the Trailblazer Bowl, and split the Protein Pancakes and million dollar bacon. This was my first time at first watch and overall from the food to the service I'd have to give it 3 stars. Let me start by saying I read about the service before we went so I was hoping it wasn't a factor but it was. Our initial server had no personality and didn't have knowledge of the menu, luckily another server recognized how slow our server was and stepped in. You can tell it's an all hands on deck/assisting style with the servers but sometimes this can be a bad thing. Overall getting things were just slow. As for the food the "Million Dollar" Bacon was tasty. I had a special of the Barbacoa Quesadilla Benedict, if you don't like spicy pass it had a lil' kick on it. Overall the flavor was good but the taco wasn't toasted enough you can see in the picture. My wife had a Turkey Sandwich and I must say the way they butter and toasted that bread was gooooooodt lol. If I did go back I would get a sandwich or club will probably be my first option. Ultimately I would go back and try it again, because who doesn't like a diner. read more

The food is delicious, and the restaurant space is lovely and much more upscale than one would expect in a strip mall. Both get five stars from me. However, the service was 1 or 2 stars at best. I came in behind a couple of other parties on a random Tuesday at lunchtime; the restaurant was mostly empty. Although there were a lot of people working, no one was at the host stand, and it remained that way for quite a while, while the rest of the staff ignored the growing line at the door. The host finally meandered over, seated the first party, and then wandered off again. It continued this way until someone else eventually came over to help. Then, no waiter ever came to my table. Someone eventually came to offer coffee, and she was visibly annoyed when I asked if I could order. She grudgingly took my order, yet ignored my request for a lemon for my water, and for my bacon to be crispy. She delivered my food without asking if there was anything else she could get me (such as something as basic as butter for my toast), and never returned to check on me. I had to go to the kitchen myself to get a box for my leftovers. I've never before witnessed an entire staff so unconcerned with providing basic customer service. read more

Even with checking in online, it was probably still a 45 min wait from when we arrived til when we were seated. The logistics of managing the check-in and seating could definitely be better. The same woman who was managing the seating system was also the person seating people which just left a big group of people waiting by the door while there were empty tables. The food itself was pretty good. The lemon ricotta pancakes were light and soft, the side of bacon was crispy. The breakfast tacos were pretty good too, but it was clearly just a larger tortilla folded to make a taco. No complaints as you could unfold it and make a mini burrito. Ordered Smoked Salmon Benedict, Elote Breakfast Burrito, 1 choco chip pancake and an iced coffee. 30 mins. in 3 follow-ups on where's our order (the table beside who came in 5 minutes after us were eating already; one follow up with the manager) and still no order. The pancake came ahead, dry on the edges, semi uncooked in the middle. Then the burrito followed and finally the salmon Benedict. Worse than the wait, everything was now cold except the iced coffee which was too sweet. Also, taste wise, the food was no longer a novelty and probably with some extra effort, it was something you could do better at home. The server politely told us to walk away and not pay. Sure, that was some form of compensation. The salmon Benedict was a little stingy on the salmon, and they slid tomato slices on the bread to either add a little acid, or add an optical illusion of thickness to the salmon?
