There were definitely a few standout dishes here, and I'd happily come back for brunch again. Great spot if you're going with a group and want a menu where everyone can find something.

I'm surprised by how bad they were versus the other food when it's a Nola breakfast place. My son got a pancake and it was way better than the beignet. Not sure if I would come back, but if I did it would be for a happy hour again (but I'd skip the beignets). Our server was wonderful. Nice and attentive.

The location is perfect step out the front door and you're right in downtown San Antonio. From the hotel restaurant, you can take the stairs or elevator directly down to the River Walk, which makes getting around so easy and convenient. What we especially loved is that this hotel has so much character and charm. It doesn't feel like one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. We had a balcony, although it was simply too hot during our visit to sit outside and enjoy it. I'm sure it would be wonderful on a cooler evening! The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the valet guys they provided wonderful service and were always so helpful. I came here twice when it was a egg&i and was not disappointed. My favorite breakfast items have always came with syrup and potatoes so those are my go-to; since coming here now that it's become a First Watch I can see the small improvements really make the experience something to come back for. Not only is everything much more formal but I feel like it all comes together for a overall better breakfast time. The cups, plates, napkins, chairs, tables and staff put you in a setting more ken to a upscale eatery versus a breakfast joint just outside HEB. I was promptly seated by a very sweet waiter who made me feel like I was the only one who mattered. The cook took the time to come out and ask how I wanted my hash cooked due to my picky requests. The manager looked at my food before it was received to ensure top quality and even asked if the sauces were to my liking. I was never interrupted while eating yet my glasses stayed full and I always had jelly. Needless to say this was an improvement on a already great place to eat and I would take anyone here just to experience what I did. Upon entering First Watch the ambiance of the restaurant was very serene and decorated nicely. I was in a party of three and was seated very quickly. It was not too crowded. I ordered the Morning Meditation and it was perfect. My coffee however came in a dirty cup and I wouldn't comment if I hadn't seen other people complaining about the same situation. My party ordered and it took 40 minutes or longer and it was not even packed in the restaurant. If it was busy I would understand but there was no explanation or even a discount for the unnecessary wait. The food itself was very good but to wait that long for it is absurd. They also do not have military discount here. I would eat here again only if I knew I was not in a rush and was maybe meeting up with friends for a nice brunch. If you're looking for a quick in and out place this is not the place. Perhaps management should have gone around and checked on their customers too and apologized but nonetheless this restaurants main issue is timing. read more

Ordered the croissant sandwich for the first time and was served a beyond well done croissant. When my waitress asked if everything was good I asked her what she thought about the croissant. She looked surprised that burnt bread was actually served and she wanted to take my plate to redo but I said all I needed was a fresh croissant and I could transfer the food inside to the new bread. Saw some chatter on my neighborhood app about this spot so I decided to check it out with my son…read moreand his mom. We went on a Wednesday for dinner. It was about 630 and there was a few people leaving and another table occupied. Pretty empty. Very spacious and clean inside. We were greeted by the young lady at the counter and told to sit anywhere. We sit and get to ordering. So started out with the unsauced wings. Can not recommend. At all. Was like boiled chicken with no seasoning. No flavor whatsoever. If you do order get a flavor; but even baseline chicken wings should have salt or something. My son had the burger plain, his mom had a burger dressed, and I tried the Cubano. I asked for the chimichurri sauce on the side. For my son, he liked the burger. It was only meat and bread but he was feeling it. The bread was falling apart though even without toppings. But he ate it all. So his mom's burger; man, had so much mayo. Sooooo much mayo. And she's a person who loves mayo. Ask for an extra pack of it every time. It was too much for her. She ended up just taking the top bun off and eating it with a fork and knife. Said it was good, just way too much mayo. And my Cubano came with the chimichurri on the side. But somehow it also came with the chimichurri on it which I didn't want. There was only one person taking oedwi and she was with a customer for about 15 minutes so I didn't get to say anything about it. Eventually I just ate it. It's a good sandwich. Just wish I had gotten it how I asked. Also the sweet tea was good. Oh. The fries were a little too done. Almost forgot. I didn't eat half of em. All in all just a couple hiccups. The food is actually good. Service good. Clean restaurant with lots of space. I wish them much success.

Our server was friendly and attentive. She told us a little about some things coming up that sounded great to us. I will be back often. I'll try to force myself to explore the menu and not get stuck on that AWESOME pulled pork pizza.
