Initially I tried to order a takeout order over the phone to add some items to a menu item and I was told I had to order it online. I then ordered curbside pickup online and they have no signs or curbside pickup. I called in to ask and was told I can wait in my car or come in but that my order wasn't going to be ready for awhile- even though I was already past pickup time. The person who answered the phone was not friendly. It's unfortunate because the food is good but the experience made me not want to deal with them again. read more

The food was soo good! I got the traditional breakfast and also got a side of waffle and they were both excellent! The syrup was great too! My daughter ate all her breakfast and fruit too, she never eats as much as she ate here! They also have great coffee too, I'm picky with my coffee and loved it here I had to take a cup to go! Hubby and I were in town for the weekend. Looking for a breakfast place and came across First Watch on Yelp. Food was fantastic and service was great! Hubby had the barbacoa breakfast with poached eggs. The barbacoa was so flavorful and delicious! I had the hash with the Italian sausage. Scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly! Came for a work breakfast and ordered the eggs Benedict. That was a mistake. The eggs were hard poached... literally ready to bounce off of my plate. The magic of eggs Benedict is when the yolks are runny. If a breakfast place cant make a classic dish like this they should probably take it off the menu. read more

This was so much better as the egg and I. When they changed names, they removed all of our favorite items, raised prices and dropped portion size. They also no longer give a military discount. Total let down... no potatoes available and I was there at 8am. Food taste was totally different. Seemed like they went cheaper with food production. This used to be my favorite breakfast place but I will no longer be eating here. To top it off I did not get any sides and I still had to pay full price as if I got the full meal. Obvious the juice was poured either too early today, or even yesterday, the juice was separated in the glass. Fresh poured, after a vigorous shaking would increase the quality of the juice. Absolutely love this restaurant chain usually go to the one in Chandler, Arizona but while I'm visiting here in San Antonio we went to this one. I come here nearly every weekend with my husband because I can't get enough. I really appreciate the vegan options they have. Every. Time. I usually take my family to this first watch at least once a week. We enjoy the staff they are very sweet and kind. They have recognize us as regulars. The food is amazing and fresh. Elevated egg sandwich was ordered on servers tip. Was 5/10 nothing special. Coffee was below average they need to work on this, just days prior had a taste of a venders coffee off Fremont Street in Vegas it was smooth not bitter, no suger and no cream and very strong. First watch coffee could not hide the horrible bitter taste found in lower quality brewing techniques. I was an Egg and I fanatic and was sad to see the menu leave but I've tried to be open minded about trying First Watch. This was our third visit and it will likely be our last. Got there and put our name in, the host said it would be around 20 minutes. No big deal we expected to wait. We sat on the bench outside for about half an hour and saw 4 or 5 parties go in ahead of us that arrived after us. We figured it was because they'd used an app to put their name in. Waited a few more minutes and still nothing. I went to check how much longer it would be and the gal hadn't even put our name on the list to begin with. A server took us back right away and apologized. I worked in restaurants for a long time and understand that these things happen. Tried to let it go and enjoy our meal. It took our server a while to come over and greet us but he brought coffee so we didn't mind. He took our orders and apologized for the wait saying he'd be back with water. Our food took about 25 minutes which seemed like a long time and I asked for syrup...the gal who delivered the food never came back with syrup. But our server finally showed up with water and brought the syrup back over. He did give us a complimentary cold brew coffee for the waiting inconvenience, but he seemed rather absent during the whole experience. We finished eating and sat with our napkins on our plates for another 10 minutes or so before he asked if we'd like our check. Another 5 minutes passed before he brought it and by that time we were standing ready to leave. He was very nice but the service just wasn't great. Overall it seemed very disorganized and hectic in there compared to when it was the Egg and I. The food redeemed the experience but still wasn't as good as what we had from the previous establishment. This has been our basic experience each time we've visited since they changed over. I originally drove to this place thinking it was still The Egg & I. I decided to give it a chance. Being plain old me; I got the Traditional Breakfast (Eggs, Sausage, Toast and Potatoes) with an Iced Coffee. My boyfriend got a Power Bowl (Fruit with yogurt & a muffin) and coffee. The food was okay in my opinion. I am a total foodie and to be honest it was no different than eating at Denny's. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because the atmosphere is nice and their iced coffee was delicious! For me and boyfriend it was a little over $30 and that was without a tip, which I thought was a little pricey. I really wanted to love it, but I don't know if I will return. read more

Great coffee and the menu is very extensive, something for everyone. Unfortunately, I ordered eggs Benedict and it was not so great. The eggs on the top had been completely hard boiled and did not have a runny yolk like traditional eggs Benedict does. The ham also suspiciously looked and tasted like turkey. What a great meal!! I centered more on a brunch type meal and husband went for a more traditional breakfast. Both were excellent!! Server was energetic and helpful suggesting menu items. I played it safe and ordered the Trifecta considering it was my first time. Eggs, protein item, and your choice of pancake or waffle. I added a bowl of cheesy grits. It's not the biggest of portions, but I certainly did not leave unsatisfied. The coffee tasted great and was complimentary while waiting to be seated. The granola, banana pancake was a nice option opposed to the regular pancake on the trifecta. No mind blowing flavors or deals, but you can tell the quality of the food is there. It's sad really. Given this place three chances. The food is great but there's no sense of urgency here even though they're always busy. I've never seen so many dirty tables at a restaurant that people just walk by. The guy who I'm assuming is the manager is nice enough but just walks around and hands menus out when I asked to have a table cleaned I was told, yeah it'll happen give them a second, 10 minutes later sitting here still hasn't been cleaned. In fact I ate my entire breakfast sitting next to dirty dishes the entire time. Hire some bus boys like come on! If you're short handed and can't handle a restaurant maybe you should close off your patio?
