    Avocado toast with smoked salmon
    Jessica M.

Stopped in for breakfast while visiting the San Antonio area, and wow--what a fantastic choice. Breakfast was truly AMAZING. We started with the lemon blueberry cornbread, which was the perfect warm-up. My husband ordered an omelette, I went with the avocado toast topped with smoked salmon, and I paired it with the Morning Meditation juice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The coffee was delicious, and they even surprised us with their homemade bacon--sweet, savory, and absolutely unforgettable. Our waitress was kind and attentive, and the cute décor made the whole experience even better. I highly recommend stopping in for a meal if you're in the area. This place is a gem.

We typically frequent the location by North Star mall, but decided to come to this location today as we already had plans over here. Everything was okay, but I will say the glasses for water were dirty, as well as the water jars/jugs. We asked for a clean drinking glass, but was handed ANOTHER dirty glass. Not sure if they need to soak these or just change their dishwater, but it definitely affected the experience.

First Watch was recommended by a very good friend of mine. I finally got an opportunity to have breakfast there today, the night before Christmas. There are several of these First Watch locations around San Antonio but I tried the one just north of Wurzbach on the frontage rd. The restaurant is very nice inside, clean, modern but not cold looking, a place you would want to meet friend for breakfast or lunch. The staff was very friendly, seating me at a booth where I could look out the window. I told Lia,my waitress, this was my first time and would she recommend a few items. Her input was very helpful. I had the Tri-Fecta breakfast. A multigrain blue berry pancake with eggs sunny side up and I upgraded to the million dollar bacon side and coffee. OMG was this good! I like real maple syrup, so I added that to my order but the pancake came with a blueberry compote which was excellent. The pancake was tender and cooked to perfection. The bacon is to die for. Excellent coffee topped off the meal. There were so many items on the menu I want to try, their versions of eggs Benedict and different hash but it will have to wait until next time. Just sit down and enjoy your meal and bring friends, next time I will

I've been going here since they opened years ago! It was slow and quiet for awhile. Now they have such a reputation that there is a wait on weekends. Be sure to put in a reservation on their app. I pointed to my friends my fave: salad and sandwich. Funny bc we all ended up ordering the same thing. It was very delicious. Their Reuben always hands down the best. Our waitress was so lovely. Thank you for the great time! Now my friends want to go back ;)

The lemon ricotta pancakes are show stopping great! They are soft, fluffy and full of flavor. My husband went inside to pick up our food and he said they were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean inside. Now back to the food, the sweet lemon taste matches so well with the pancakes. Wow

First Watch is one of those brunch places that's quite predictable for a variety of reasons, and for that, we tend to visit it over other local brunch restaurants at times. While I wanted a skillet, I opted for something less oily and heavy. The BLT Egg Benny did the trick. While the eggs weren't as runny as I'd expect, it was still full of flavor. My family enjoyed their meals. We decided to split a stack of blueberry pancakes, and we learned that our stack was delivered to the wrong table. It took a while to actually get the pancakes, yet when they came, they contained the most and largest amount of blueberries I've seen in any pancake. My husband said the blueberry topping was good with the flapjacks. It was challenging to layer the butter since the pancakes broke apart early when we attempt to lift the top one to butter the bottom one. I was good with just butter and syrup. For all the time we waited to get them, they took them off our tab. If you plan to visit, make sure to check in via Yelp. That's saved us a wait every time.

We joined the waitlist online and were seated quickly! Lots of juice and coffee options. We got helpful recommendations from our server and the food was good!

Good food and fast service are very appreciated. Enjoyed my Morning Market Veg Omelet, with salad and toast ($12.99). Would have liked a bit more veggies, but portions were good. Airy and open place made for a comfortable meal.

Weekday breakfast craving- power bowl quinoa - sub sausage with bacon, coffee and OJ. Hubs had the Monterrey Club with a toasted English muffin. My quinoa had perfectly cooked over easy eggs so that you can spread the runny yolk all over the Quinoa, kale, bacon, mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes- yum!

We came here for lunch and parking and seating was easily accessible/available. Cori, the bartender and server gave us a friendly greeting upon entering. We sat at a table near the bar and told her we were there for the infamous Astro burger with fries. The bar/grill was pretty cool- lots table seating, electronic darts, pool table, arcade games, cool decor, and a stage for karaoke. Cori guaranteed us that the chef knows how to cook his burgers and I ordered medium doneness...and medium it was! The burger was absolutely fabulous! A good size, topped with delicious pastrami, that was not overly salted. It came with the fresh vegetables of lettuce, tomato, pickles, and crisp onion. The fries were to die for... cooked you know with a crisp outer and soft middle and had a sprinkle of some amazing seasoning. Dipped them all in ketchup too lol All this for $12 in lieu of SA burger week. I accompanied my burger and fries with a pineapple hard cider and the combo was perfect. The food was awesome and service was the best! We'll be back when in the area Military discount offered.

Tonight we split the Steak For Two special. Ribeye was beautifully cooked with a lovely marinade in the bottom of the bowl. Accompanied by potatoes mousseline and creamed(?) spinach. My companion intended to order braised short ribs, but the ribeye sounded too good to skip. After, we split a lovely lemon crème brulee. It was lemony enough even for me. Last time we had chicken fried steak (not on the menu tonight) and meatloaf (ditto). Both were excellent, but sort of routine, not spectactular like tonight's dinner. My water glass never got below half-full. The staff's team approach works well. Our waiter's by-the-glass recommendations for a white wine for crabcake and red for ribeye were ideal. We like the idea of supporting a business that has eliminated tipping. They make a big deal about that. However. I read the "Our Philosophy" page 3 times tonight. That page does not mention that tip is baked into the menu price. Like last time, no staff person mentioned it. AND the credit card slip has a line for "Tip." Should I feel shame for taking them at their word and not leaving additional tip? Well, I don't. We will go back often enough to try most of the menu choices. Even though they change seasonally. AI info from Google: At Max's Sister (located in the Alon Market at 10003 NW Military Hwy, San Antonio), tips are not expected or required. Chef Andrew Weissman pays his staff a living wage. While gratuities are received with sincere gratitude, you can comfortably leave without adding a tip to your bill.

We walked in without a reservation, and I really appreciate that they were able to accommodate us with outdoor seating. The patio had a fun, upbeat atmosphere and was a great place to spend the evening. The drinks were generally very well made, once they were prepared correctly. The food, however, was just okay. I had the cheeseburger with an egg, and while it was decent, it wasn't particularly memorable. The standout was definitely the fries, especially paired with the spicy ketchup. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service. Since we were seated outside, it felt like our table was forgotten. We sat for at least 15 minutes without proper plates, napkins, or silverware and had to ask multiple times before everyone was taken care of. We never had enough water glasses for the entire table, drink service was slow throughout the meal, and at one point I walked to the bar myself because my Old Fashioned had been made with agave and was far too sweet. I also had to track down our server just to get the check. Overall, I appreciate that they accommodated a large walk-in party, and the atmosphere and drinks were enjoyable. However, the combination of mediocre food and inattentive service left us disappointed. I don't think I'd return, as it felt like our table was simply forgotten once we were seated outside.

I was torn on bites but ended up going with the Happy Hour sliders and the pork belly appetizer from the regular menu.
