Food: My salmon dish was absolutely delicious! I love capers on almost anything. Service: the service was low grade at best. We couldn't get her to come back to the table after bringing our food, we had a miscommunication about the bottled water they carried and she was adamant that she told me, I just said ok. I even tried to ask someone else for help and they pointed to her and she stopped at 2 tables before coming back to ours after we had been waiting for her to stop back by. I still left a tip but it was not validated. Ambiance: a lot of older folks and families, it was my friend and I and with a toddler. We discovered this jewel about a month ago. It was excellent. We live near Southlake, so there's no FCG near us. However we visited North Park Center today and were excited to find another location at Preston and Royal. (A month ago we visited the Lake Highlands location.) This one was just as good. They make an excellent Old-Fashioned for $9!!! Also had more Havarti mac-n-cheese as an appetizer....superb! My wife does not eat seafood, but had an excellent chicken dish. I had one of their nightly specials - broiled grouper with lump crab & hollandaise sauce, served over creamy cheddar polenta. An excellent entree. We shared a piece of Keylime pie, which was also outstanding. Our server, May, was outstanding!! We need a FCG over in the Mid-Cities area!! read more

Fish City Grill has some of the freshest oysters I've had! Their happy hour special is so great with tasty margaritas and good appetizers. I got the sampler, which included the calamari, crab queso, and fried pickles. The calamari was nice and crispy. The crab queso was very cheesy and yummy. The fried pickles were surprisingly very good as well. I recommend coming for oysters! The service was very fast. It's a great place to go with your family or even with some co workers during their happy hour! I loved the vibes and food here! read more

Recently I had the worst crawfish ever at another restaurant. I stopped by chance and had their fish and chips which were superb. The fries were crisp and hot and the fish was 3 large pieces. I then noticed crawfish on the menu. Taking another chance i ordered a pound. Folks! These were the tastiest freshest boil I've had in dallas. Unlike the restaurant where they tasted like poop these were large, clean and very tasty. Didn't just dump a pile of seasoning on top, but infused the seasoning in the boil. My server, Curtis could not have been more attentive. Whether drink refill, fetching cocktail sauce, or delivering the good piping hot he was beyond reproach. This was a wonderful lunch. Also ordered honey-chipotle shrimp tacos. Too saucy. Should have asked for sauce on side or light sauce. All depends on your taste. All fresh tasting and restaurant always offers a great special! Service is usually on target. Regular checks on table to see if meal comes out as ordered and drink refills. Not so much this time. But definitely not subpar. It's been six months since we last dined at this restaurant, and we won't be returning. The service was terrible from the start. Our server had a noticeably bad attitude and zero interest in providing a good experience. We ordered two slightly dirty martinis--both arrived drenched in olive juice. When I asked for a remake, I was told I'd have to pay half the price of a new drink because I had already sipped the second one. Then a female manager approached our table with attitude, stood over me as I tasted the third attempt, and asked for my reaction--awkward and unnecessary. Why not just make it right the first time? Next, I ordered fish tacos and specifically asked for cod, not tilapia. Sure enough, the tacos came out with tilapia, which is a cheap substitute. When I raised the issue, a male manager insisted it was cod and claimed he watched the kitchen prepare it. My guest ordered the fish & chips (also cod), and we compared the two--night and day. It was obvious my tacos were tilapia. Instead of getting defensive, I told the manager he should be grateful for the feedback--some companies pay people to assess service and quality. That seemed to register, and he offered to comp the meal and send a complimentary dinner certificate in the mail. I declined the free meal but accepted the offer of the certificate. Fair enough--except it's been six months and still nothing has arrived. Bottom line: poor service, poor attitude, and dishonest follow-through. We're done. read more

I sat down at the bar and instead of being offered a menu or asked if I'd like something to drink, the bartender greeted me with "How can I help you?" (Never in my black natural life have I been greeted this way at a bar.) It felt less like hospitality and more like I had wandered in looking for directions. I get it sometimes I'm in places people don't expect me to be, from zip codes to tax brackets. But still, I came to eat, not explain myself. The spot isn't upscale, but it's tucked in a ritzy neighborhood, which might explain the overly formal, borderline awkward energy. A simple "Welcome in can I get you started with something?" would've set a much better tone. Food was decent, drinks were fine, but when the service starts with a side of suspicion instead of warmth, it leaves an impression. Inside and out, Fish City Grill was beautiful. I had ordered the fried shrimp platter with buttered rice and coleslaw and it was delicious. I even ate the hush puppies. I was disappointed with the specials board in the restaurant because it didn't match up with the the specials board posted on the internet. My wife have been looking forward to one of the dishes on the specials board but when we got to the restaurant it wasn't there. Instead she ordered one of the other specials, the redfish broiled in a buerre blanc sauce with creamy Parmesan rice and asparagus. The problem with that was that everything on her plate was dusted with cajun spice and the board mention nothing about cajun spice. Due to a medical condition my wife cannot handle spicy foods so she was quite disappointed. In the future we will have to be careful to specify whatever we order for her does not contain anything spicy. Other than that service was friendly and prompt and the interior of the restaurant was sparkling clean. read more

I wouldn't call us regulars, but we love this place. Great seafood options with something for land lovers as well. The bar is always lively with lots of locals and a full-service menu. They have several daily fish specials which are worth taking advantage of. We love oysters on the half shell, and they usually have several types available. Usually a good experience, but the wait staff was really off tonight. "Honey" who waited on us was so totally obnoxious. I can handle that but she brought back our red snapper Vera Cruz without the Vera Cruz tomato topping. The fillet was half the size we usually get and we come here pretty much once a week. When we asked her why there was no tomato topping she said that it's a new item on the menu and the chef doesn't put it on unless it's requested because so many people don't want it. That was a total lie. They've had it on the board for months as it's what I always get and it's never been served without the Veracruz sauce. What's obnoxious is she goes on and on about bullshit you don't care about and then lies to you. Her way of selling a dish is saying that it's the 'talk of Preston Hollow'. Please. That amoung other things just completely turned us off. Honey is just so completely obnoxious and her elaborate lie about why the Vera crew sauce wasn't on just soured us on the whole place. In addition, she took our salad order and we had to ask three people to get her back to finally take our order for dinner as we had completed our salads and we're just left hanging. She's a terrible waitress. They probably had a dozen servers working or should I say employed this night. read more

Came for a late lunch on a weekday after browsing for restaurants in this area. We were seated immediately and waited on quickly. The waitperson, Kevin, was very helpful and made some recommendations which turned out to be great! I had the special, which was blackened redfish with a couple of shrimp, an incredible butter sauce over creamy parmesan rice. It was amazing and I ate every drop (wishing I had some good crusty bread to sop of the leftover butter sauce). It came with green beans which were obviously fresh and well-seasoned. They were a little too crisp, so didn't finish those. DH had a shrimp and scallop dish that he absolutely loved. He said the scallops were amazing and cooked perfectly. He sopped up every bit of that, too. Really liked this place and wish it was closer to us, but we'll be sure and make our way back soon! read more
