You should clarify that the mushroom risotto contains HUGE chunks of cauliflower. This is basically a veggie/fungi dish, with lots of cheese and a bit of rice. All I ask is that cauliflower is added to the description so people know what they're getting themselves into. Otherwise food and service is always good. Yeah....more like Fish OFF! Maybe it was an off night considering all the raves. We had a coupon from our B&B for a free appetizer and ordered their version of Oysters Rockefeller. Good thing they were free or I would have sent them back. $11.00 - and they were awful....sad looking squiggled up oysters buried beneath an indescribable mound of yuck. My $24.00 fish stew had plenty of seafood- farmed tiny baby lobster tail (overcooked), salmon, clams and shrimp. Some pieces of salmon were delicious, while other pieces were very fishy. The clams had a bit of sand, while the good looking shrimp had the WEIRDEST after taste. Not rancid- just strange. The taste lingered in my mouth. My husband had the famous crab cakes. Hmmm...What is the big deal? True they contained mucho crab...but were so lacking in flavor and needed spice- and Dijon, fresh chives or scallion. We skipped dessert because the meal turned us off. What is up with 3 tables without table clothes while the other tables all have table cloths? Strange. Were we seated sans table cloth because we were newbie's- and most folks here are local "Villagers"? The place is in the midst of an artificial city for retirees. Fish on is a great place any age and for any occasion. To start off, the atmosphere is spectacular. The modern style and open concept makes everything easy and quickly accessible. The entire restaurant is filled with art made by the locals. The service here was also very nice. The waiters and hostess were very glad to see me and my family. Our waiter knew the menu like the back of his hand. He came to check on how we were doing and refill our drinks frequently. The food was so scrumptious. The shrimp was so very fresh and plump. The shrimp and grits expertly combined good ol' home cooking and elegancy. My cousin got the fried chicken blt. He said it was cooked to perfection and all of the flavors balanced out. All the fish is so fresh and tasty. The bill was a bit expensive, but that is price you have to pay for food like this. Because of all the delicious food I quickly ate, at sadly couldn't order dessert. ate here for father's day with my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. when we first sat down, the waitress was serving a "baby kale" salad to another table. it looked so good that I tried it. it was awesome. I love kale, but have always had it cooked. never before raw. very interesting combination of kale, apple slices, sliced almonds, either blue cheese or gorgonzola (i couldn't tell which it was and do not remember the menu) and bacon bits. perfect dressing for the mixture, too. i had the "day boat scallops" for my entree. the four scallops were done to perfection and served on a creatively tasty bed of corn braised with bacon and onions. my only complaint was the price. yes, i know that scallops are expensive, but only FOUR for $27 is a bit much! my daughter had fried chicken on a waffle. she loved it. she washed it down with the restaurant's own creation, "black and white" soda. i didn't like it, but it is creative. my son-in-law had their fish and chips and was similarly pleased. the waitress was appropriately attentive and service was excellent. she also took care to answer my gluten content questions. four stars and not five because $94 is quite high for what we had even with one alcoholic drink and a "Shirley Temple " for my granddaughter. incidentally, my Yelp photo is of sunset over Lewes beach. read more

Fish On used to be one of our very favorite places in Lewes for dinner. Great food and great service. But I'm afraid it has fallen victim to the rest of Matt Haley's restaurants -- there are too many and Matt can't keep up the quality. Took friends there for dinner two weeks ago. The service is still good. However, the food is suffering. Everyone left dissatisfied. They used to have killer Shrimp and Grits. Sadly no more. Mine just looked sad. Flavorless grits. Shrimp that had hardly any flavor and was covered in a gelatinous sauce. How on earth can chorizo be tasteless?! The chorizo on this plate was. First of all they deserve a 3.5 but couldn't give them four. Went tonight for happy hour with my husband. Restaurant had about six tables seated. We ordered a few happy hour items. I said twice the total was five items. We realized she missed the fish tacos but she also missed the chicken wings and only knew that 15 minutes later. The sad thing was when we got them they weren't cooked through and weren't good. I mentioned it and the bartender seemed indifferent. The rest of the meal was good though. An evening which started with so much promise turned sour, disappointing me greatly. Fish On is in a great space, has high ceilings so it is not too noisy despite the crowd, and has the solid SoDel reputation behind it. We gave our drink order to our server and I ordered the Napa Sauvignon Blanc wine. I got the New Zealand one, but immediately told the server and asked for the one I ordered (there are only these two available). A different server brought me the new glass and just said,"here you go" and walked away. We had the rockfish and glazed salmon and were disappointed by how dry and bland they were, but soldiered on. I think they were understaffed in the restaurant since we saw little of our server and nobody topped up our water glasses. The bill arrived with both glasses of wine on it and when we questioned it the server said that I had ordered wrong but they would take off the one glass - like it was my fault but they'd do me a favor. I tried to talk to a manager but she was in the kitchen, I assume helping the waitstaff. I won't return to Fish On but will stick with Blue Coast in Rehoboth where the staff are wonderful. read more

Needed something else to brighten it up. I prefer the fried Brussels at Po Boy's in Milton. I wish SoDel restaurants would get a little creative and have some variety at their restaurants. Fish On is tucked away behind a grocery store just off the 5 points intersection in Lewes. The decor is really sleek and the atmosphere is great, they even have a fireplace! The food is fantastic, the best in Lewes. We got fresh rockfish with some sauteed vegetables and the captain's platter. Both awesome. The captains platter included the best crab cake I've ever had (and I'm from Maryland!). Not having been to many places in Rehoboth, this is def one of the better ones. Its a nice beautiful restaurant, spacious and clean. The food is amazing though, i had the seafood stew which i was hesitant to get, but soo good. Reminded me a bit of cioppino. There was lots of fish and seafood in my stew that had kind of a tomato base. My boyfriend had the halibut which was equally good. There was a delicious steak my friend had, along with the mashed potatoes. Now, im not always a huge sides fan, but the mashed potatoes were really good; melt in your mouth good. Will def be back there if I'm back in the area. Only downside which I didn't take stars from is that its pricey. Entrees were in the 20s. read more

Overall we had a decent experience, but you can decent at almost any place. I agree with the previous review that the food was good, but not great. We may have been the unfortunate reicpients of having arrived shortly after a large party. The shrimp on grits was a nice combination of shrimp, chorizo and grits. Tasty and satisfying, but not on my bucket list. The kids pasta was super small at 13 penne noodles. My 11 year old could have had 2 more portions. I think they should change the kids menu to read for kids 12 and under to kids 6 and under. The other entree at the table was salmon, which was way overcooked and is something the kitchen shouldnt have sent out, and the servers shouldnt have presented. I dont believe this is what the owners would say is their intention. Clearly the kitchen was backed up having to deal witha large party, and they just wanted to get this order out no matter what. There was a long delay between ordering and receiving our food, and an offering of another basket of bread would have helped. When we brought up the cooked to a crisp salmon to the server, she was indifferent and didnt say a word. Clearly she knew something was wrong, but hadnt been trained in how to respond approrpriately. We will give it another go in the off season, and for lunch, before we completely knock it off our list. read more

Every time we come to town we go to Fish On. We love seafood and we usually do all the Sodel restaurants. That's what we love about the area. There are many great restaurants and Fish On is one of them. We've been going there every weekend, when we're in town, for the past 4 years. The food is good, the wait staff is great and knowledgeable, and the place is clean. We've never had a bad meal/experience. The prices are also reasonable. If people want cheaper food, go to Mickey D's. read more
