One of the top spots for lunch in Rowland Heights with arguably the best Suancai fish in LA. Restaurant is very clean and runs pretty efficiently. Service is always on point and the waiters are very attentive. You sit down and scan the QR code to place the order. Most of the crowd is during dinner but usually during lunch it's not that bad of a wait. Located within Diamond Plaza so parking can be difficult during peak times. Food My go to is definitely the Laotan Suancai Fish because I'm not a huge peppercorn fan. I've tried almost all their soups and always end up coming back for the Laotan Base. This time visiting I noticed they had new items so I decided to also try the Guizhou Sour Fish. The broth is very delicious and seems like a Laotan broth + tomato broth combined. Very appetizing and would come back for this flavor as well.
The food here is good, a bit too numb at times. I'm giving a one star review because the cashier told me I am supposed to give a minimum 10% tip. We only ordered 2 things, we were not given any other service than the server giving us our food, and the workers were on their phones the entire time... I was tipped $2 instead because the service wasn't even all that but I wanted to tip something to be nice. If they wanted tip to be mandatory then they shouldn't have an option for custom tip.
Awesome fish spot with plentiful amount of rice. It hit the spot when we wanted pickled sour fish. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Fish With You is located inside Diamond Plaza in Rowland Heights. They specialize in making different soups with sliced fish. I thought the signature soup was good, but it's not good enough that I would come back. -Signature soup $17.95 is simple - snakehead fish slices with sour pickled veggies and wide vermicelli. I liked the slices of green veggie (I don't know what veggie it is though.) -Golden soup $16.95 had a different flavor, but not as sweet as signature soup. Also had sour picked veggies, but you could add 2 other toppings like napa cabbage, tofu, black fungus, vermicelli, etc. -Blood tofu in chili sauce $19.95 was just chili oil. If you're a lover of intestines and pork blood, get this. Each soup comes with a bowl of rice. I think the portion size is so big that one soup listed as one person serving could feed two people. Service is not really there because you order on the QR menu. They just bring you the food and water. Parking is in Diamond Plaza. There is an underground lot. Apple Pay accepted. Bathroom is available in the back area.
I really wanted to like this place, but was so disappointed. Overall, I think the food is too greasy. The broth was way too oily for my preference. Got incredibly sick after eating this for lunch. We got the popular suancai, and angus beef. The waiters gave conflicting information about whether noodles were included (pro-tip they're not). Their version of noodles here are the wide flat potato noodles (but they call it vermicelli). The fish is also not filet style - so it doesn't absorb flavor quite well. It's a lot more tough than flaky and soft fish. I did enjoy the Taiwan sausage though!
This is a great spot for a quick, casual meal. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering how generous the fish portions are. We ordered two one person serving to share among three people, and it ended up being plenty of food. I also liked how customizable everything is since you can choose your own toppings. We tried both the Golden Soup and the Classic Aromatic Spicy broth. Both were enjoyable, but the Golden Soup was my favorite. It had a more layered flavor profile, whereas the Classic Aromatic Spicy was more focused on heat.
If you like hot pot/fish/veggies with great flavor, don't miss out on Fish With You. The large portions are great for 2~3 people. Anything with the sour soup is killer with the fish. My favorite appetizer is the spicy clams. It's so flavorful and easy to eat! Parking here is terrible but that's just something you're going to have to deal with if you want to dine here.
Visited on a Saturday afternoon to satisfy my curiosity about this spot known for its sauerkraut fish. I ordered the Golden Soup with Black Fish. According to the staff, this option is less sour than the Laotan version, which made it the better choice for my preference. Ordering is done through a QR code that leads to their website, and the process was simple and convenient. However, it would be even better if each menu item included ingredient descriptions, especially for guests who are not familiar with Chinese dishes and may not recognize the soups by name alone. The soup comes with rice, with portion options for one or two people. Service was quick, and as shown in the picture, the broth included peppercorns and dried chili that added a nice kick to the flavor. The crispy fish somehow I found no presentation when it comes to serving despite it tastes good. The decor follows a bright orange fish theme, which I found eye-catching and memorable.
I have always kind of wanted to try this place out but have seen lines and the store is always busy. But on a fun night recently was able to have this for dinner. The place is super packed with all the tables and chairs filled with people enjoying this fish. It has many locations all across the world but this was my first time having this style of fish soup. It's a little sour and a little spicy with what I would say is sort of like a mustard flavor and I am pretty sure not everyone is going to like it but I thought this was actually pretty nice. You can order different sizes based on the number of people you have. Tonight's meal we had a party of four and shared two different types of soup bases with a few different sides. It came super quick and I would suggest getting a bowl of rice with the fish. So if you want to try something different and you don't mind bold yet sour and spice than this will be for you!
Five stars because it's one of the very few places I can take my dad out to eat at and he won't complain about the wait, the price, or tax + tip! Arrived early enough on a rainy day to not have to wait too long for a table. Quickly ordered the green peppercorn fish small and the old pickled veggies fish in large, giving us 3 bowls of rice. Additionally, ordered the pork and the fried milk. Everything was good! The pork is a nice sized portion of the price and the fried milk is hard to find in LA these days. Both fish options were really tasty, good enough my parents kept saying "taste like China". 3 people just barely finished all the ordered food left stuffed. Service was friendly, but this is a classical China-like restaurant, add your name to a waitlist, get seated, scan QR to order, wait for food, notify them of checkout online, wait for them to come collect payment. Parents were big fans of this method
This place is so amazing! I dont usually like fish but due to the popularity i knew i had to try this place. My friend and I got the one person portion which is enough to share for two people. The fish is super tender and the flavor is great! There was also plenty of veggies and noodles. Price is very reasonable so I highly recommend this place.
I don't think I've had this kind of soup before but it's delicious! The soup has that deep flavor broth, unique and authentic. The portions are huge with affordable prices. The only thing not very much to my liking is the soup leans too oily. However, it is packed with flavor and ooh I actually enjoyed my tangy lemon bowl. Menus are by QR code each table and you order directly from your phone. The bill is shared by table which makes it easy. This spot is tucked away at Yes Plaza so there will be lots of parking but can be a little difficult on rush hours. Overall, a solid spot with bold, comforting flavors and generous portions. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.
Refreshing, clean but still flavorful pickled fish soup! Dont know anywhere else that offers this which explains why it was so busy on a Tuesday night Large portions so since hubby and I weren't too hungry, we shared 1 portion which comes with 1 bowl of rice, if you want another bowl its $1.99 but unlimited after that ---signature fish soup: enjoyed this although it wasnt at all spicy unless you got lucky and one of the fried peppers were spicy (they act like shishitos, only some are spicy) ---Taiwanese sausage: ehhh Will have to come back to try other soups! Omg! Finally a restaurant that serves this mind numbing fish that doesn't break the bank! You order at three front for take out or you can grab a seat and order from the table for dine in. Got the golden soup and the signature soup with added tofu and vermicelli noodles. Rice is ayce which you need to offset the heat of the dishes. Love that you can control the level of heat in the soup. The portion looks small but don't let that fool you because a single portion will get you full. Especially if you are eating rice with it. I'm so happy this is here. I'm addicted to this and will def be back to try other flavors. read more
From what I know, Fish With You is a popular chain in China, and this is its very first location in the States. How fortunate am I that it's just a short drive away for me! I'm always looking for new pescey friendly eats and Fish With You definitely delivers that and more. The food is stellar! Both the tomato and green peppercorn/mustard green soups were amazing. The tomato is not spicy and is less oily. I saw parents ordering the tomato for their kids and I can see why, as it's flavorful and sweet. Lots of fish and tofu are included for a surprisingly fair price. I did find it a little strange that you're only permitted two add ons (can't add more for an additional fee, maybe due to the bowl size) so it feels like a bad deal to pick anything but the two tofu options. I got one pot with napa and it felt silly, considering how much tofu skin I got for the same price in the other bowl. I would also love more tofu options as well (fresh beancurd/yuba pleeeeeaseeee). A good variety of trendy desserts are also available! I really enjoyed the fried milk, which was mildly sweet and not too oily. Mine came out together with the hot pots, so time your dessert order if you like to have your sweets at the end of the meal. BTW, the takeout bags are absolutely adorable and they're insulated too. Came here on a Sunday night with a party of 2 and was maybe 10th on the Yelp waitlist. Their service was pretty fast so we only waited maybe 15 min. I've been craving sauerkraut fish cause I love the sour and tangy flavor. The squid skewer was spicy, soft texture, and cooked well. I thought the Signature Suancai and fish was great! The large portion was perfect for 2 people; it had a ton of snakehead fish. I misunderstood the free side dish, I thought we would get to pick 4 free side dishes for the large portion, but in small letters the signature comes with 2 fixed free sides already added to the soup (a green veggie and yummy soft chewy potato noodles). I really enjoyed the signature, it was very rich, savory, and sour, and not too spicy. Great casual place to hangout and eat with a small group. The price is a big bang for your buck, a little less than $20 per person. I will definitely come back to try the other broths! read more
Located in the center of Diamond Plaza, there are plenty of places to eat. Parking during rush can be a little hard to find, there are underground parking and the restaurant is conveniently located near one of the stairway. This place is well lit and bright, the limited selection of items available is all you really need. Like the name of the restaurant, they have a few selection fish and one for Beef. The menu and ordering is via QR code scanned on the table. Food comes out really quick and the portion is great for sharing. i really enjoyed the green pepper one as it has a bit of numbing effect. The soup is perfect to sauce the rice and you may be asking for second on the rice bowl. Staff was very efficient and helpful. Would like to go back and try another soup based. Highly recommend getting there early as there tend to be a wait during meal time. read more
I picked up take out here for the first time. Very clean and nice indoor seating. The place is not too big with limited tables. I picked up a Laotan fish dish medium size. It came with 2 sides and one rice for $19. The portion is pretty descent and enough for 2 people to share. The fish and the broth were both tasty and flavorful. I would give this place 3.5 stars. Most of the dishes here are spicy. If you like fish and spicy food, you might like this place more than I do. I don't care for spicy food, so the food here is just okay for me (not spectacular.) For some of the dishes, you can choose between two kinds of fish. The fish does taste fresh, not fishy. The flavor is not bad; but I think the broth is too oily and spicy for me. Service is average, not great. This place is kind of small, so be prepared to wait if you come at a busy time. read more

It's food take awhile so don't to there starving. I ordered 2 fish soup (lemon and house special). One of my recent favorites when I'm in the area. It's kind of a mix of sit-down and fast-food in terms of service which actually works out great for fast table turnarounds. The place is a bit small so expect a short wait during dinner rush. Their main thing is spicy suancai (preserved/pickled vegetables) fish soup which comes in a few varieties. It's on the intense side in terms of flavor but actually quite refreshing! Their menu is pretty streamlined for the most part and they offer some interesting sides and unlimited rice. At first the portions seem huge, but the bowls are actually quite shallow. However, I find that it is usually quite enough food. For two people, we usually get a large and a regular size entree, take anything extra home for an easy meal the next day. read more

I stumbled upon sichuan fish in Taiwan and was looking for a place here in 626. Found Fish with you and had high hopes with all the high reviews! I can gladly say I am yet again thankful for the Yelp community for living up to the expectations. Busy restaurant but got lucky as they had two empty tables so we got seated right away. They do have a few seats to wait in and outside of the restaurant, but I do recommend joining their Yelp waitlist during peak eating times. Hubby and I ordered their #1 which was the Laotan signature dish with basa fish, soy skin, tofu, Celtus, and fungus mushroom. You choose the type of fish (basa or snakehead) and 4 side options to throw in. We also got the lotus root cake which I thought was absolutely delicious. There's filling stuffed between two lotus root slices thats fried in batter. The portions are pretty generous. Its nice that they tell you how much it feeds. Their staff is also very attentive and quick. They were prepared to refill rice before we finished the bowl. The place is also kept pretty clean. This is definitely a good soot for those who know what theyre getting, but I don't think this place is for everyone as it's szechuan numbing spicy along with sauerkraut sourness. There are other options though like tomato. I'll be coming back to try their other dishes. read more
A Rare WOW! I came here for an early dinner with a friend last Friday at 5:00 pm. The place was still relatively empty. It was our first time here, so we stood around inspecting the menu board, only to realize we were supposed to order at the table after being seated. The seating area is bright, welcoming, and clean. We ordered one regular signature suanchai fish pot, one regular spicy boiled beef pot, and the fried rice cakes with brown sugar sauce. The food came out quickly and in generous portions. Both dishes were very flavorful. The signature fish pot came with sides like potato noodles, napa cabbage, choy sum/cactus heart (?), and pickled vegetables. The fish in this dish was also excellent. The boiled beef was very flavorful and not too spicy (mild to medium). It came with plenty of garlic, bean sprouts, choy sum/cactus heart, and napa cabbage. I believe bowls of rice are free, and they offer refills. The fried rice cakes with brown sugar sauce were amazing! Crispy fried and drizzled with just the right amount of brown sugar sauce. It was perfectly sweet, but not overwhelming. The meal was fantastic, and the service was great. I can't wait to come back. Best Szechuan fish in the area. There are so many different flavors, my favorite are the signature and the green pepper fish. I've got many times since I've discovered this place and brought friends and family. They were all impressed. You get bottomless rice as well so eat to your hearts desire! Had a really nice lunch here! We each ordered our own dishes, and I got the royal tomato dish while my wife got the signature suancai. She found the spice level to be tolerable on hers, and my tomato dish was tasty as well. I liked that the tomato soup wasn't too sour, and still had some great flavor. The rice is unlimited which is a nice touch. I would've liked to see more fish in the dish, but overall I enjoyed the food and would come back. I ordered the Basa fish with lemon sauce and it was pretty yummy! Although, the fish portion was on the slim side, but sauce is 10/10. My brother in law ordered the beef with tomato sauce, he said it was decent but nothing to brag about. Overall experience was pleasant. read more
We enjoyed this spot when we visited on a random weekday afternoon. It is very specific but it definitely hits the spot if you are craving pickled fish dish. We got the 2 person serving Laotan (comes with 4 sides included) with black fish. We were starving and the serving size was perfect. We were very full afterwards and didn't waste anything. Service was excellent; the lady working there was attentive and nice. She also helped with explaining the menu (in chinese). Clean restaurant and such a delightful addition to the food options in RH. So good so good I said it twice. But fair warning, you have to like mala, because they like to add it to their broth which numbs and zaps your tongue with a slow burn. But actually it's mild here. We got the signature suancai (sour cabbage) and fish which was pretty good and their hot pots are slightly build your own. I could probably finish the large bowl alone but honestly I liked the super Angus beef better. The fried pork appetizer was ok, the fried squid better but the fried oysters were really good with a mild oyster flavor. They're open until 10:30 too so I liked that. read more

Incredible! I don't eat a lot fish products but my goodness this soup was everything and more. I got the green Sichuan basa fish soup and the crispy pork. The green Sichuan was the perfect spice level and the fish was so succulent. The crispy pork was delicious too! The inside is bright with plenty of seating. The service was fast and the worker answered my questions simply. The size is perfect to share one bowl between two and have some leftovers. I highly highly recommend. read more

Thank the food gods because I've been craving this spot since I first tried it earlier this year in Flushing, New York. I couldn't believe they opened one so close to us in the Diamond Plaza! They're known for a Chinese specialty called water-boiled fish (Shui Zhu Yu, 水煮鱼)--a rich, flavorful broth filled with fish, veggies, and often that spicy, numbing kick Sichuan cuisine is famous for. It's best enjoyed with a bowl of rice to soak up all those delicious flavors. We came on a Saturday, right when they opened, and it was already a full house with people waiting to grab a table. We ordered the large Laotan fish soup, which comes with toppings already included, and a squid skewer. Ordering is super convenient--you just scan the QR code at your table and place your order online. The food came out quickly, and the flavors were on point. The broth was rich, spicy, and aromatic, though I'll admit the flavor in the New York location was a bit bolder. That said, this was still absolutely satisfying, and I was thrilled to find the same dish done so well here. If you're a fan of Sichuan boiled fish, this place is a must-visit. Went here based on all the five star reviews. Very disappointing. Had the suancai fish with cabbage which was bland. My friend had the Angus beef. Both had no spices or anything to give it any flavor. My friends, Angus beef had all the noodles stuck together like they came out of a box. Mine had very little fish in it but I'm kinda glad because the fish didn't taste good at all. The sodas are in a can, and are warm with no glass of ice offered. And the service is average, and that's why the one star. Have no intentions of going back. read more

I was at the Diamond Plaza picking up breads at Duke Bakery when I noticed a crowded new eatery called Fish For You. Within a few days I returned for a late dinner around 8:00 p.m. Parking was really busy but was fortunate to secure a spot in the large strip center underground parking. From China this chain claims they have over 2400 locations worldwide and they recently made their debut to the U.S. with locations in Flushing NY, Rowland Heights, CA and another location opening in San Diego CA. I waited about twenty minutes to secure a table since it was at capacity. Once seated the waiter took my order for the spicy fish stew with cabbage that had an abundance of with red chili peppers. The soup broth was savory and contained pickled mustard greens and thinly slices of fish. Included is Wuchang rice with complimentary refills. The eatery is clean, atmosphere casual and I noticed many patrons picking up orders to go. I'm looking forward to returning here to try some of their other entrees on their simplistic menu. read more
I am literally obsessed with this place. I have been here like five times since it opened and have never been disappointed. Their signature suancai fish is my favorite and a must order. The soup is so flavorful with a nice kick. Out of everything I tried, the only dish that I would not reorder is the blood tofu with chili sauce. It was way too spicy for me and did not have a lot of blood tofu or meat. It was mostly tofu skin and other fillers, so I would rather get the suancai fish or beef. Crispy pork is also my another favorite appetizer. I also really enjoyed the fried rice cake for dessert. They offer free rice refills which is a plus. The restaurant is new and clean inside, but not fitting for large groups as it is more like a fast food chain vibe. If you love spicy food and haven't tried this place, I highly recommend it. read more

The first time I tried Fish With You was two days ago and I came back today because it was so good I kept thinking about it lol So far I have tried: The Signature Suancai & Fish Royal Tomato Fish Crispy Pork & Tomato Stew Super Angus Beef Tangy Lemon Fish All were very good and I personally like the Bass fish better than the Snakehead. For some of them you get to choose your own sides (you can choose 2 for free) and some of them, the sides are already chosen in the menu. You also get free rice that comes with each fish dish. If you don't eat fish, the Beef option was really good too! My favorite has got to be the Signature Suancai & Fish and the Tangy Lemon Fish. It has a little bit of sourness and a kick of spicyness which is really delicious and pairs great with the soft fish fillets. There's a lot of people if you come during rush hour but the wait isn't too bad. Inside the restaurant is very clean and bright. Staff are very friendly too! The portions are pretty big so you can share with a friend or take the rest togo if you have leftovers. Highly recommend trying it if you like fish and hot soup! read more
Very fast paced lunch spot with sour and spicy soup. Flavors are good if you haven't tried this northern chinese cuisine, go give it a try! There is an ipad waitlist left of the counter when you enter the store. we didn't immediately see cause people were standing in front of it, but that's where you waitlist and it doesn't take too long since table churning is decently fast. You do have to get staff attention like most asian places so you can't be scared to make eye contact or raise a hand when needing something. Fast casual dining. read more

Really enjoyed the Suancai Fish here. The soup is rich and comforting, not too oily, and the fish melts in your mouth. The pickled vegetables add a perfect tang. Good portion for the price and overall a very satisfying meal. Would come back again. read more

I got terrible service today. I ordered takeout 3 items Signature Suancai & Fish, Laotan Suancai & Fish, and Seaweed Salad with the guy in the front. I'm not sure of his name, but the receipt show HUIXING XING name taking my order. When I saw the receipt, it showed he put the wrong item because I didn't order Green Szechuan Pepper. I let the lady know about the mistake she walked into the kitchen to let them know what the correct item. After that, when the guy brought my food to me, I asked him one more time to make sure that it was the correct items, but he did not answer, tried to avoid me, and pointed his hand to the receipt on the bag and walked away. That is BAD communication and I got the wrong order. I'm not a problem if he doesn't have great English. I try to listen and talk to him. But his attitude is really bad, and finally, he makes mistakes. I drove from Pasadena for 35 minutes to buy your food, and I always put the tip even though I order takeout because I appreciate your job, BUT it seems like your guy likes the customer NO TIP for you. read more
It's like a 3.5 for me. I'm not sure how often I'll come but I think it's nice to have a new somewhat genre/cuisine type and can see as a new trend. Although not exactly the same, I think I prob rather have mala tang than this. I will however say that it is pretty decently price for today's inflation. You order through the QR menu and they have a few options. We got the signature suancai & fish and the classic aromatic fish. I personally liked the signature one a lot more but my friend liked my classic one more. I thought the taste for the signature one was more special AND more importantly it was hot and it stayed hot versus. It just either was already kinda not that piping hot in the first place or it just doesnt stay hot like the signature one which was rather disappointing for me. I thought the fish quality/quantity was pretty good. We also tried the sausage and that was ok. Although, opened recently, it does seem like a trendy place cause it was pretty busy on a weekday. read more

The food was really good for the price. My favorite is the signature sour cabbage fish soup out of these 2 that I got. I really enjoyed the golden fried oyster rolls, they were so light and crunchy with the oyster and leek fillings. It surprised me when I bit into it! The fish is not fresh live fish however it was prepared so well that there's not a significant difference between this and a place that serves fresh live fish for the sour cabbage soup. The service and was attentive, my friend dropped his chopsticks and without a second thought, our server brought another pair. The interior was very clean and tidy, I really appreciate a nice clean smelling environment when I'm eating. We could not finish and the server wrapped our leftovers to go for us which is also very nice. read more
