Initial consultation - Dan and Xochitl came to our house, where we had in-person kickoff session. We walked around the property together, where they both carefully listened to how our ideas around how to the use the space, and indulged our numerous 'newbie' questions. They are tremendously insightful, very experienced, and remarkably patient with folks like us who are new to the process. Design phase - Xochitl took all our ideas and took a couple of weeks to think deeply about what our outside space could be transformed into. And, boy did she deliver! She and Dan unveiled their vision to us at our next in-person meeting, where Xochitl had drawn out a stunning illustration of what the final design would look like. We loved it so much, it's now framed an hung on our wall. You can talk about designs all you want, but it's only when you see it in front of you that the vision truly comes to life. Execution - The team indicated when they would be available to start our project (after finishing the ones they had already committed to), and they were true to their word. And when everything got started, it was a whirlwind until completion. I don't think there was even a single day where someone from the team wasn't on-site, pushing things forward. One things start, they are fully dedicated to your project, and you can see your outdoor space transforming everyday. Finances - One thing I appreciated immensely was Dan's transparency around the finances involved. He provided a detailed, itemized quote at the on-set, and set out clear processes around payment cadence. That left no room for surprises. Of course, as with any project, we made adjustments and changed our minds on a few things along the way. Dan immediately made the necessary changes, and gave us a clear update on how that might affect costs and timing. Communication - Dan was incredible when it came to keeping us informed on progress and answering questions. He would lay out the plan for the next couple of weeks, make us aware of any decisions he needed from us, and provide timely updates as we moved into the next phases of the project. This was definitely a huge help, and very much appreciated. Final result - This was our first major landscaping endeavor, so there was a lot of blind faith put in the team, and I'm so glad we did. They completely transformed our outdoor space, both front and back. From trimming trees to weeding flowerbeds to checking the irrigation system and even removing some dead trees, they are doing a terrific job! There are 3 big projects for which we contracted with Zarco Landscaping, because they continually performed above and beyond on the work. The first project was for a room that would flood when it rains. The team at Zarco quickly diagnosed the problem as poor gutter placement and cracks in concrete on the floor above, and they worked rapidly to connect a new sewer system and rebuild our concrete walkway. There has been no more flooding. The second project was to improve the terrain and usability of our backyard, which is on a hill that was very difficult to navigate. The Zarco team completely transformed the area, building stone steps and leveling the land with premium soil, mulch, and stone. Please see the attached photos (we wish we had before pictures, but it was all dirt and invasive plants before on a steep incline)! Lastly, our third project had to be done rapidly after the recent storms in the bay area. We needed three very large and dead trees removed that were at risk of falling on our house or the street. The Zarco team came the next day to remove all of the trees. Overall, the Zarco team has always delivered amazing service and treated us with respect. The prices are also very reasonable and competitive with quotes we received from other businesses. We have never had a CA Vendor try to charge us after a few days, the law even says right to cancel for 7 days. We would have been happy to pay for an inspection, but $1100 to cancel a job is absolutely ridiculous. DO NOT RECOMMEND We will not use them for any projects since this is how they want to run their business.
