Where's the beef? Came here when nearby French Toast had a half hour wait, as was packed. I ordered the $18 crawfish omelet and wife ordered the $18 crab and bacon omelet. Takes 25 minutes for our orders to arrive. My omelet comes with 99% mushrooms, bacon, cheddar, and trinity. Looked for the crawfish, and could barely see some white specs. They skimped badly on the crawfish and jacked up the price above the other omelets. Wife's omelet comes with 99% bacon, trinity and cheddar. the other 1% is chunk crab-looks like specs of body crab from a can. Another case of skimping on the crab in this case, and jacking up the price. Would have been better off waiting the half hour at French Toast. read more

Here for the weekend and was waiting for a table at French toast but the line was too long. Flambo was across the street and we walked right in. We order quickly and the food was amazing. I got an egg croissant. It was so good! Now called Flambo Breakfast.Brunch.Bar with new hours, currently they're open about 930a to 5p. We were told they have a new Turkish pastry chef who makes her own biscuits and croissants. We got the biscuits and gravy, Farmer's Omelet with a biscuit, and Classic Eggs Benedict with a croissant. This place was honestly our 2nd choice. We were headed to French Toast (myself & 2 kids & a baby) & realized it was absolutely packed. Ok. I know this place has a bunch of good reviews, however, I feel like this is a good late night food review. First of all, I had 5 people in my party. Of the 5, 3 people ordered wings. On the menu, wings are 10 for $14. All 3 of us got 9 wings (we counted multiple times). We also got hardly any ranch with our wings. One of our party got tartar sauce with her wings. We also all got honey mustard and some strange fruity vinaigrette for our wings (wtf??). We also had to ask for napkins halfway through our dinner. There were napkin dispensers in the place, but they were all empty. At 10, the place did look like it was understaffed. It took us 2 hours to eat, get napkins, and get another part of an order. I happened to be in NOLA with three other friends the weekend Flambo was opened. We walked in not knowing what to expect, but we were delighted with amazing service, food, drinks, and ambiance. We started with cocktails and then ordered the mac n cheese and the Flambo burger. Wow to both of those! It was a processed piece of chicken with cheese that more resembled burnt plastic than melted cheese. It was described on the menu as having coleslaw and special dressing but came with neither. Came here to watch the Super Bowl. They had a huge tv front row to the bar so it was really nice. The bartender told us he was grump because he was on his third 15 hour shift. But he seemed alright. My friends didn't like him because he was being rude about ordering but I didn't notice. He also wrote us a long list of things to do in New Orleans. "Double meat, Double heat" burger- very comparable to any burger you've ever had, made with 3x as much oil. The only thing good about the burger was the meat- juicy, good taste but the experience of eating the burger was just a mess. Cajun Veggie burger- The veggie patty (house made!) was dry and didn't quite have any taste. Not so sure what was "Cajun" about it, unfortunately. The truffle mushrooms were the best thing about the burger. It was a little disappointing-- I would recommend the fish tacos as a meat free option The fish tacos- Very good portions of fish inside each taco. What a way to top off our Sunday here in the French Quarter. Since I'm typically the Yelper in our household- hubby was stoked when he found Flambo's on Yelp. I know one of the things I've been dying to try while here in New Orleans is some shrimp grits. And Flambo's BBQ shrimp grits doesn't disappoint at all! Now, when you read BBQ- I was thinking of tasting that vinegar, brown sugar... something like a Kansas BBQ taste. Nothing like that from this dish! Lots of flavor from Abita amber garlic butter sauce, & sautéed shrimp tossed in Worcestershire sauce, smokiness from spices... that's it. Cheese grits. This dish is served w/ fresh slices of French bread. Not toasted. The fries. Thick cut, not like steak fries. It has the texture that the fries are coated in potato starch & then fried. Decent sized for the order. There were a few specks of crawfish- my greed was hoping for more crawfish though. Especially if I'm paying $13. Shredded cheddar & jack cheeses. I wanted to love this place. They were so super friendly next to the other breakfast place next door, plus they had crab cake benedict and my daughter was dying for that! They were out. Sold out. At 9 am? And no house potatoes. FROZEN FRIES! We were forced to pick smoked salmon Benny, but, just so not the same. And then we went adventurous and ordered the goat cheese toast. AN OVERPRICED TOURIST TRAP If you remember Fuddruckers, the classic tourist trap chain that overtook the Central Business District in the 1980s, then you remember a restaurant that excelled in that genre. 5 Guys is its homogenized clone with peanuts and bagged burgers served warehouse style. We sent it back and the bartender had a very bad attitude and treated us like it was our fault. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The experience here was subpar from the moment our group walked in. We were waiting around to be seated only to be told by a staff member that it was open seating with an attitude as if we were supposed to just know. Once we sat our drink order was taken and waters were brought. The waters had minimal ice so make sure you ask for extra. We ordered a margarita and a hurricane, both of which did not taste good at all and were definitely not worth the $10. After telling the server about the drink the bartender came over and asked what was wrong with the drink. My friend explained that her margarita had an apple juice taste and he said ok and took her drink. While we sat I noticed food sitting at the kitchen counter without being taken to the table. The group behind us finally got the order of Mac and cheese and I overheard them saying it was cold and bland. Our group ordered a couple burgers and a po boy. I ordered the smoke shack burger and let me just say I think a quarter pounder with cheese from McDonald's is bigger. This burger should have been priced around $5 for what you get. My fries were also cold but did have a good taste. When the server came I told him I did not believe this meal was worth the cost and he said he was going to have the manager come out. After about 10 minutes the manager finally came by and he told me that they had two burger options. The other burger included lettuce and tomatoes. This however was not my concern with the meal and I reiterated to him that both burgers were small and not worth $15. While waiting for our checks to come out we spoke with the table next to us who were going to order food but after their drinks were bad opted to not eat. I would recommend skipping over this place and opting for one of the other great restaurants in the area. read more

This is an unassuming little place just off of the French Market that has great food, great friendly staff, so much more than burgers. Their biscuits are crazy good, the salads and all ingredients are very fresh, and they have several unique and perfectly done items on the menu. All women run, which is a plus in my book. read more

I wish I could give a better review. This was by far the worst experience on our trip. The server forgot to put in our order. It happens. Not that big of a deal. When we asked why 5 tables that came in after us received their food they went back and looked at the KDS screen on the cooks line and went straight to the computer and put in the order. Instead of telling us they made an error they acted like our order was coming up and we shouldn't be concerned. The food came out and it was wrong. The eggs were over easy when we ordered over medium. I asked for no onions and it was covered in onions. When we asked for the eggs to be remade they took my wife's whole plate instead just replacing the eggs. With nothing to do but wait while everyone was eating. We finally gave up . I paid for my breakfast and we went somewhere else Forgot the order sucks but just be honest so you don't make the customer feel stupid Give the guest something to do when you are remaking an item. She could have had the bacon and toast. Were you going to give her the same cold toast and bacon? It could have been so easy to recover that guest experience. Epic fail. read more
