Really fantastic food we had a kebab platter and a Gyro platter and the moussaka is really something else it's fantastic. The meal comes with potatoes that are really good and moist. We had take out which was perfect. We ended the meal with the cheesecake which I've never heard of it or tried it and it was fantastic. O. M. G.! My wife and I went to this restaurant about a month ago. Boy! Were we surprised!! The storefront and location of this business make it very unassuming. But, the service and food was excellent! Since we spent 10 days honeymooning on the island of Crete, Greece, we are very VERY particular when it comes to Greek food. And, until we visited this restaurant, we would go to either, Kosta's, Stratos, or The Little Greek Cafe, all of which serve pretty authentic Greek food. But, Flaming Cheese Saganaki really does, I think, edge those places out a bit. This restaurant is quaint and the service was good. Interestingly enough our server was not very familiar with Greek cuisine. Nevertheless, she was very friendly and attentive. The Saganaki appetizer was excellent, both in flavor and portion size. The Dolmades were served in a small ceramic boat and were swimming in lemon sauce, which I could drink a gallon of, if they bottled it. The absolute best lemon sauce I've had! My wife had the Chicken Souvlaki and I had the Gyro Platter. I usually have a Gyro Platter as the first dish I order when trying any new Greek restaurant. My wife's Souvlaki was tender and juicy and my Gyro was really delicious. I'm not sure if it was just because I was already in food euphoria after the Saganaki and Dolmades, or it was really that delicious... But, believe you me it was delicious!! The highlight of the meal - for me, anyway - was the french fries. Yup! The fries!!! These fries were cut and cooked EXACTLY like the "Pommes Frites" one can get in Europe, especially Germany. They were off the chain crispy, not oily, and got with a bit of salt!!! They tasted even better when I dipped them in the lemon sauce. This restaurant does not serve beer or alcohol, other than the Ouzo used in preparing the Flaming Cheese Saganaki. The only negative impression I had at this establishment was an odor of sewer in the men's restroom. I suspect the toilet could use a new wax seal. What a pleasant surprise this little mom and pop restaurant was! We came here last night with a few friends. My husband and I ordered an original gyro pita with fries. The sides are a la carte, but don't worry, they don't skimp on the sides. Our serving of fries was huge, as was the gyro. There was so much gyro meat that the pita was overflowing with goodness. My only complaint was that it need more Tzatziki sauce. With all the meat, it needed more sauce. While the meat was flavorful, it was cut extremely thin. I enjoyed the thinness of the lamb because it solidified the flavor. The meal was affordable, substantial and delicious. I couldn't finish mine, so I have another meal to indulge in. Flaming Cheese Saganaki - Original gyro pita and fries - Greek Near Me - Dallas, Texas

I don't see myself coming back here. But if there's one thing I liked here, it's the gyro meat. But really, I'm not the kind of person who goes out to a sit-down restaurant for shaved gyro meats. That's usually food-on-the-go, for me, as I'd do the same with a Middle Eastern shawarma. That being said, when I go to Greek places, I EAT Greek, not SNACK Greek. Plates, entrees, and stuff are the thing for me. And to get an idea of what is good here, I figured I would try a sampler plate, and the Olympic sampler plate seemed to be the most comprehensive. And to with that, I picked lamb kabobs and moussaka. Well, when it came out, I was disappointed that it was kind of small for a sampler plate. Additionally, it was mostly gyro meat. Luckily, the gyro meat was the best part of the sampler platter. The lamb kabobs, Greek sausage (loukanico), and the roasted Greek-style potatoes were all okay. And the Greek eggplant casserole, moussaka, fell flat - there was very little béchamel sauce, and they even put tomato sauce on top of it - which is really unheard of in any Greek restaurant. It didn't taste as good and it didn't seem to be authentic at all. If I didn't know any better, I'd think that they Italicized the dish. Thinking that they can save the lackluster meal with a dessert, I ordered the Greek phyllo-custard, the galactoboureko, and it also fell flat. While I appreciated that they have it in the menu (most authentic Greek places have them, but most Greek places are not authentic), it was poorly made - the custard itself was too pasty and had no flavor, and the phyllo dough had a burnt flavor, from being cooked too long. After all that, and seeing the bill, I can say that this place isn't worth it. I even think the lower-rated (according to Yelp) Stratos is much better than this place. NOTE: If you want a gyro, sure, by all means come here - even though there's so many places out there that serves gyro sandwiches, or come for the flaming saganaki (Greek cheese lit on fire), which is what seems to make this place popular as I had saw this dish being served three times during my dinner. The positive: Came in for my months 70th birthday. We don't come in often but we really enjoy the food and byob. The place was empty so getting a table of choice wasn't a problem. The negative: being 4 people out of 6 In the restaurant we would expect the staff to be a more initiative then they were. We asked to have some pita brought out for my 3 year old. Had to ask three times. Never brought out any small plates to share our appetizers and only asked once if everything is okay. I put off trying this place way longer than I should have!! Especially considering how much I love mediterranean food... Their menu contains a limited variety of the very home-cooked Mediterranean food you'd find at an authentic buffet. I stuck to my basic favorites & got the Lentil soup, Feta & Varelisia app and Falafel pita sandwich. Seriously.. it was so good I went 2 days in a row and got the same thing. The customer service consisted of 2 young girls standing idly by the cash register - they were sweet. The space was a smaller dining room, although they did offer outdoor dining. What surprised me the most was the speed of service. My food never took any longer than 8 minutes to be bagged & placed in my hands ready for me to be on my way - if even that long. We came here on a Saturday night around 6pm and was able to get a large table in the corner no problem. Overall, the service was a bit dicey as there was a miscommunication on the order. The food is pretty good and they do offer a few unique dishes. You definitely get a lot of food here and the value is there. It is authentic for sure! I had the Gyro combo plate and it was pretty good. I was surprised when it came out with rice and I had ordered it with fries. I suppose those two words sound similar, but I thought I was pretty clear. Anyhow, they brought out fries quickly and made up for it. We really enjoyed our time at flaming cheese- discovered it through yelp... as a heads up, the parking lot is run down and older flaming cheese stands out on the corner of the lot. The service was super good and fast- we tried the baba ganoush appetizer- it was good but not quite as flavorful as what we have back home at our Mediterranean restaurant. My mom got the salmon entree and it came with a lot and she enjoyed it and ate the whole thing. The Greek salad that came with it was large- she said she would have preferred less dressing or dressing on the side. Good prices for what you get! Only $40ish total with 3 people so for a place like this, it was a great deal. My husband enjoyed his platter and even had food left over. Seriously still so upset about this experience. Five of us ate here and ordered 5 entrees, 2 appetizers, and all got water. What they failed to tell us was that they charge $1.75 for TAP WATER. When we saw the bill we questioned it and they said "yes, we charge it as a soda." When we looked at the menu to see if we should've been smarter and looked it said nothing. Also, bottled water was only .75¢. I understand it's not the waiters that make the rules but they should've told us prior. Will never return. Food was mediocre. Came here specifically for their namesake "flaming cheese" and while it was great for IG video with the fire theatrics, the cheese was small in portion for the price but it had a nice salty flavor to complement the pita bread. What I enjoyed is the family atmosphere, cozy & intimate. If I had to guess it's probably a family owned business that's been around for a while. While the service was efficient and friendly it begin to lack severely towards the end of my meal where I was just completely forgotten about. The waitress had a lg group and a couple of families to attend to and since I was having lunch alone I was lost in the sauce. Which sucks but honestly understandable. I would suggest(if you do dine alone to ask for your ticket early on to avoid 20minutes of waving down service to leave. The food: I ordered the Falafel sandwich/Fries/Greek side salad. I fell in love with this combination via Little Greek Cafe and pretty much can't order any other Greek food since lol. Since I stopped eating meat It's the ultimate vegetarian comfort food like my staple burger & fries so I take it seriously lol. The salad was good I'm not sure I can attest to the freshness of the green but it was enjoyable. The fries came out room temperature (personal pet peeve) if I'm going to indulge in saturated fats I want it to be worth it! They were seasoned beautifully and crunchy however. Lastly the Falafel sandwich was such a disappointment. The Falafels did not hold up well at all and were just pieces of flour on top of my pita. They tasted like flour quite honestly. (See pictures). I'm not sure if this is just their variation of the dish or a mistake. What was cool about their menu is that they list the ingredients; for instance, in their tazaki sauce it was maybe 4-5 ingredients which was a welcome indulgence vs that 'white sauce' at Halal Guys. Verdict: I'd definitely say give this place a try. What I came for is not what they're known for which is their cheese fire presentation they have when the 'cheese flame' appetizer is ordered. How about Oom-NO! Based on the previous reviews I was expecting a fun atmosphere and good food. I was so disappointed to find a mostly empty restaurant with bored and unenthusiastic staff and NO BAR. It's now BYOB. I was in town for work and dining alone, I was hoping for a glass of wine with my dinner but was informed they just went to a BYOB model. I ordered the flaming cheese as an appetizer thinking it would be the star of the menu. I was instead given a piece of cheese that happened to be on fire for a few seconds by a less than happy waitress. The gyro platter was uninspired and the meat was tough. We really enjoyed this place. We are used to the Greek food in Chicago where we used to live that was phenomenal, like so much there. This was very good though! Their flaming cheese saganaki was really good and made with Romano cheese over feta which had a great flavor. The mediterranean appetizer combo with spreads and veggies was great. So much better than any feta spread or hummus you could get in a package that's for sure! We also got the Olympian platter and my husband and I split everything. It was all very good! I spotted Flaming Cheese Saganaki a couple of weeks ago and tonight was the night we went to check it out. Very pleased with the decision to try it! My dining companion started with the greek salad. He said it was very tasty. I tried a bit of the dressing and that was outstanding. I started with the avgolomeno soup. The soup was wonderfully lemony and very tasty. I'm used to avgolomeno being a little less creamy than this and with more rice and little bits of chicken but overall it was good and I was pleased with it. There were also some yummy warm pita slices served with the salad and soup. For the entree, I got the traditional Gyro pita and my dining companion got the Olympic Platter. The gyro was very tasty. Good-sized pile of meat on a nice, warm pita with onions and tomato and some tzatziki sauce. Very tasty and very filling. I would have liked a little more tzatziki but I am a huge tzatziki lover so I think someone else eating the dish would have been satisfied with what was there. The Olympic Platter my dining companion had was a very nice-sized plate that had pork souvlaki (very tasty! Well seasoned and flavorful), gyro meat (a really nice-sized pile), potatoes (well seasoned and a great complementary side), moussaka (extremely tasty, I was a little envious), some sausage that was really tasty and a portion of tzatziki and some warm pita wedges. It was a wonderful way to get to taste a bit of a number of different dishes. I still can't quite believe that we had dessert, too, but we did. Baklava cheesecake. It was DIVINE. Double decker cheesecake with baklava crumbles and a drizzle of honey. I was SO full but it was just so good I couldn't help but continue taking nibbles! I live about a mile away from this restaurant and have been meaning to check it out for quite some time, but tonight I finally did and I was not disappointed! This is a very quaint and unsuspecting place from the outside, but inside it is very warm and friendly. We were promptly greeted and sat. The service was quite good. My water glass did go empty once, but the apologized profusely without my even saying anything. As for the food, I always judge a Greek restaurant by 3 things, saganaki (flaming goat cheese), the gyro, and baklava. The saganaki was great and believe me, I've had my fair share of it in lots of different places. Besides, who doesn't like to yell "Opa!"? I had the original gyro and the taste was really good. I had read a previous review that said she would have preferred more tzatziki and I couldn't agree more. I asked for more and they gave it to me no problem. Now, I normally just get regular baklava, but they had a cheesecake baklava and oh my goodness it was AMAZING! My boyfriend got the lemon shrimp special and I tried some and it was fabulous. His dinner also came with a side salad and the dressing was fabulous. I ended up asking if they made it there and sold it by itself and they did on both accounts so we brought home a half pint of it. For my platter, I had the original gyros, broiled sausage, moussaka, tzatziki and pita. The Flaming Cheese Saganaki has a cool presentation as the server lights the cheese on fire before serving it. As a result, the cheese is hot and melty with a nice toasted crust. The cheese is pretty good, but a little on the salty side for me. The Olympic Platter is okay.
