Basic American diner food here. Very similar to Denny's. Came for brunch. They do offer mimosas if you were curious - I couldn't tell by their Yelp reviews and menu pictures. You can get singles or a "half liter" (basically a carafe). Their hash browns look like mashed potatoes.. but taste very good! Biscuits and gravy and "soft scrambled" eggs were also very tasty. My sausage came out cold, but I told the waitress and she immediately went to get me some ones. The new sausage came out very freshly made.. almost deep fried. But they were good! The bacon was veeerryy salty and fatty. Probably wouldn't order it again. But definitely give this spot a try if you're looking for some tasty American brunch! I've been here twice. The food is always consistent and very good. Excellent service! The waitresses are super nice and refill your drinks before they are half empty. It's always busy, so that's a good sign. I got the corned beef hash with flapjacks and I added hash browns. The corned beef has was so good I got it for a second time! The hash browns are crunchy and crispy on the outside and warm in the center, perfect. The flapjacks are so fluffy and perfectly sized. Even the butter is super good! Safety and sanitation is a must and a Need in this establishment! I visited on a Sunday, very busy. Fortunately, I got to sit across from the toasting station. All the servers will go and grab your bread out of the bag,throw it in the toaster and butter it. No gloves, no utensils/tongs, just dirty hands all over your warm buttery toast. Not one person washed their hands before making toast. It was disgusting. Many of these girls have nail extensions or polish violating another CA health and safety code. Wash your hands before preparing people's food. Wear appropriate gloves or use utensils to handle cooked food. Fist time here in what seems like forever. Got the chicken fried steak and eggs with hasbrowns and sourdough toast. We had them smother it in gravy. The gravy is super tasty for just being peppered white gravy. The steak was amazing. Even though it is store bought. Hash browns were fresh homemade as well. Tasted very good. Let's start off by saying, I ate my entire meal. I was either super hungry or the pancakes were that good! Came here on a Sunday with my husband around the 9:20 am hour. Maybe a 15 min wait for 2. We were sat in a booth. The booth was next to a window next to the parking lot. Not such a great view, but you aren't here for that. I opted for a lighter breakfast- turkey bacon, hard scrambled eggs and of course, flapjacks. I loved the turkey bacon and my eggs? perfectly cooked the way I like it. I didn't know what to expect from the pancakes...the place is named after it so one, I expected fabulous pancakes. I don't like to smother my pancakes with syrup....a little goes a long way. I LOVED their pancakes. I'm glad I ate my eggs and bacon first. The pancakes felt just the right amount of fluffy, and deliciously sweet. It tasted like a dessert!! This place has plenty of booths, some single seats and tables. I saw a lot of families here as well as couples. The food is tasty and service is fantastic. We decided to check out Flapjacks yesterday morning before heading to the movies. The place was pretty busy at 9 am and we waited about 5-10 minutes for a table. Our waitress was very friendly and came and took our drink order quickly. I ordered the iced mocha which wasn't very good sadly, but my daughter's OJ was. We ordered the kids 3 pancake and egg breakfast and added strawberries and whipped cream to it (per our waitress suggestion). I ordered the pancake breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage and 1 pancake and a side of hash browns while my husband opted for the breakfast sandwich which he substituted ham for linguica and country potatoes on the side. The food came out quick which was nice and everything tasted good. My over medium eggs were cooked perfect and my husband's sandwich was stacked perfect and didn't fall apart or get very messy. Overall the place was good, but I was bummed about the iced mocha. It's mostly what you can expect from a diner-ish place. It's good for a quick bite, but I don't know if I will become a regular here, but I wasn't disappointed. Wish I could give them 3.5 stars! read more

For a diner with flapjacks in its name I was expecting great pancakes. Went on a Thursday morning, I orders flapjacks and eggs. I'd have to say meh. Decent but not better than I can make at home. I wonder if they make their own batter or use a mix? Wait staff was friendly enough. I suspect they were understaffed as they really said the fewest possible words when taking orders or refilling our coffee cups. Oh and the coffee. Not great. The service can be hit or miss, however, they do get busy so it's not entirely their fault. The ambiance could use a little updates but it is a decent spot for breakfast. The booth backs are really stained and dirty. Need a good fabric cleaner and scrubbing. The TV screens are dirty. The orange wall above coos is pretty bad something dripping down the wall. Needs a fresh coat of paint. The white duct covers are 1/2 black. Lighting above the tables is dirty on the inside dusty on the top. A/C outlet covers pretty dusty as well. Flapjack's in Sacramento is like an old-fashioned diner. The waitress was gracious and the service was great. It was packed with customers. But speaking for myself as a home cook, the food was far below mediocre. The ham & onions in my $16 Denver omelet were burnt. And the pancake was undercooked and slightly doughy (which the waitress kindly replaced). It seemed like their hashbrowns were cooked using margarine instead of oil. I didn't make a big fuss because I know they were overwhelmed with customers and figured this was probably as good as it was going to get. My family liked their meals but I definitely would NOT recommend the place for their food. I won't be going back. However, I will say there were plenty of other people that came to eat. read more

Wow. First time at this place and I'm ready to go back. This dinner has a nice home feel and very friendly. I liked how they leave you alone, bit will peak around and see if you need anything at your table. I'm more use to server's coming by and asking you when your mouth is full with food how everything is or of you need anything, but this place is a little different. I noticed that no one checked up on their tables,but they will constantly peak around the corner and keep an eye to see if anyone needed anything. So your still getting the service,but in a very subtle way so you can still have a conversation or eat without interruptions. The food is awesome. There are so many choices to choose from. The portions are big, but they are not greasy and don't leave you feeling bloated. Most dinner food can get really greasy or when ypu order their hashbrowns it can be oily and make you feel heavy. I like that the hashbrowns were not oily and extra crispy which is really hard to come by without asking forbit to be that way. My Turkey Benedict's Omelet was great. The hollandaise sauce was a nice complente and helped make the food a little lighter. I have never been able to finish my food at a dinner, but man i cleaned my plate. This is the first time I've been to Flapjack's since they moved to their temporary location. I have to say, Flapjack's is the best place for breakfast in Sacramento. Our waitress Jackie was really good about suggesting alternatives. She was super friendly and quick. My one recommendation: come hungry. Like I said before the portions are huge. My son ordered two flapjacks with a side of bacon. He is a 15-year-old boy, and the pancakes beat him. We had to put half of his order in a to go box! I had a Monte Christo sandwich with fries. This is the lunch special, and a great concoction of ham and turkey and lots of melted cheese, and pepper jelly. Jackie brought me a bowl of syrup to dip it in. Oh boy, this place had me mind blown. So much life in the establishment which ultimately makes it like no other. Truly a miracle of miracles to be quite frank. Upon entering the place I was extremely hungry. I walked past a group of people and opened what seemed to be like an ordinary door. Do not let doors deceive you folks. As I walked through the door I was met with beauty. Made straight from the heavens I tell ya. Everything was so vibrant and welcoming. Chatter amongst the customers while bacon, eggs, and their infamous flapjacks sizzled inside the kitchens. Television playing throughout the diner while customers get to watch with ease. Brilliant! I was met with one of the waiters. Extreme elegance on his end. He led me to a table at the end of the building which was quite the hefty walk. However, I enjoyed the light walk. He offered me a coffee, I accepted, so he proceeded to go on his merry way. *5 minutes later* Coffee has now been received.......... Ahhhh, how delicious. *7 minutes later* Another waiter arrived to take my order. I can't quite remember the name of the meal but it consisted of cinnamon rolls with eggs and hash browns. Truth be told, the entire meal was phenomenal. I drenched the rolls with syrup which complimented it perfectly. The rolls were overall made very well by the chef. Hash browns crispy as ever. My eggs came in scrambled which ultimately resembled my mother's eggs. Made me feel right at home. I drenched them with ketchup which overall made for a nice combo. All in all, amazing place. Waiters were quite the treat they were. Service is impeccable considering how busy they were. Last but not least, the food. 10/10 for me, had me going with a good morning after I left the place. I was not expecting to fall in love with this place upon my first try. It's one of those places that I drive by a lot but never really tried until today. And, boy, oh, boy, was this worth finally checking out. I can't believe it took me this long. My fiancee and I went in and were seated almost immediately. The place has a nice 50s diner vibe to it. I ordered the eggs benedict with hash browns, and she had the turkey benedict omelette. The eggs benedict were absolutely delicious, and the hollandaise sauce was nice and creamy. The hash browns were extra crispy and probably the best I've had at any diner. The turkey benedict omelette was also good and filling. It had the right amount of ingredients and wasn't too stuffed. I am surprised that, after eating what we had (she and I halved our meals), we didn't feel bloated afterward. The food wasn't too greasy; it was cooked right to perfection. And it was quite a lot of food, too. What I especially liked was, after we got our food, the waitress wouldn't approach us to ask how we were doing. Rather, she saw us from a distance and would take note if we needed anything -- such as if our coffee needed refilling, which it did at times. Flapjacks is the place to be! Wow! The waitress, Jackie, made my visit super enjoyable with her great personality. She told me where they are located now on Arden is a temporary location, but their new restaurant (which burned down) is being rebuilt near El Camino and Fulton. I will remember to look for them the next time I'm in the area. I created my own egg white omelet with turkey (It was real turkey not processed slices!), avocado, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and a dash of jack cheese on top. I also had a side of fresh fruit and sourdough toast. Jackie even commandeered all of the strawberries to make my fruit bowl! Wow! Thank you! Though Jackie described Flapjack's as a 'hole in the wall' eatery, they have a lot of heart. They know how to make you feel real welcomed from the minute you come in. My coffee cup never ran dry.
