The best Indian food in Glendale. Great if you're looking for brown rice, Vegan and gluten free options. Always delicious.

(Take-out: 03/07/26)…read more IN SHORT: Beyond exceptional - phenomenal - sensational. My take-out was popadoms, mango pickle, carrot pickle, garlic basil naan, mulligatawny soup, chicken buna, chicken balti, fried rice. PROS: insanely delicious and authentic Indian cuisine, succulent tender & crumbly chicken (100% very fresh white meat), melt in the mouth awesomeness, the freshest of spices & ingredients, with exceptionally-good service - top notch, lovely staff. In short, the BEST Indian cuisine I have ever had in Los Angeles. You will NOT regret this choice of restaurant, I guarantee. CONS: Almost none, but I would say the poppadoms were advertised as 4, but were more like 2 - difficult to tell since they come in broken pieces in a small brown paper bag (for take-out); also, the garlic basil naan was a little too 'doughy' for my personal liking, but that's just me - no biggie whatsoever - it was still fabulous. Limited parking on the lot, but street parking all around in the historical neighborhood of sweet Los Feliz. Inside, the main restaurant is medium-sized (cosy & intimate, certainly not cramped) and totally gorgeous - plush decor, terrific ambience, high-class romantic vibes, perfect lighting and music, with very pleasant seating booths for parties of four, and the some additional tables for two. Great choice for a date night. SPICE LEVEL ADVISORY: I had requested my two curry dishes as spice level 'hot', and they really were at the top-end of my tastebud limits (I am a very experienced curry diner from Manchester, England, where hot really does mean hot!) - both dishes were truly out-of-this-world (no exaggeration), but they really blew my socks off - in a good way. Can't imagine having spice level 'very hot' as I'm sure that would be WAY too much for me to handle. But, you on the other hand, should totally go for it - if you dare! :-) In conclusion, I was literally blown-away by this wonderful restaurant - both metaphorically and gastronomically. Thank you to the lovely lady and her brother who made this, my first try-out, unforgettable. From this day forward, my 'go-to' Indian restaurant without hesitation. Finally, I found you! :-)

I came in specifically to replenish our incense supply, we were down to our last box of nag champa. There are so many to choose from, and most right now are buy one get one free! I loaded up and also purchased a 2 pound bag of Sorghum Millet for $5 which is an excellent grain packed with protein. It took all of my willpower to not purchase the dark chocolate covered McVitties Digestive Biscuits from the UK, they really are wonderful and happy to see them in stock with many other British favorites. I also passed on the hot prepared foods, Spice District has installed dining booths, so I look forward to coming back and dining in.

The store is currently undergoing major renovations and expansion, so some products were temporarily difficult to locate, and there was some construction dust. However, Hardeep and the staff went out of their way to guide us and help us find everything we needed. It's exciting to see the vision for the new Spice District. The expanded store promises to offer a wider selection of products, a cleaner environment, and a much more organized shopping experience. We are looking forward to seeing the finished result. We also had the opportunity to try the food from their restaurant, and it was delicious. We ordered from the South Indian menu, and the masala dosa was excellent, served with flavorful sambar and fresh chutneys. Their specialty samosas were outstanding and tasted truly authentic. We also tried several sweets, which were fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to end the meal. What stood out most was the combination of great customer service, authentic food, and the passion the new ownership is putting into improving the store. We highly recommend Spice District to anyone looking for quality Indian groceries and authentic Indian cuisine. We will definitely be returning!

The set up is a little odd. There are maybe 4-5 tables total, and one was being used as a workspace on the right when I came in. All of the plates, utensils, and cups were disposable. paper plates. plastic utensils. The food itself was above average, taste-wise, and the garlic naan was also above average. I had my usual of rice, chicken tikka masala, and sag paneer, and all were good, but just a bit bland, which normally would not be an issue, but there were absolutely no condiments or spices visible with which to customize one's food. There also wasn't any yogurt to speak of, so while the food was good, it was all of a similar consistency, a lot of curries, without anything fresh to juxtapose with it. The employees were very friendly, with one lady asking us a few times if we needed anything else, and at one point, taking my paper plate and saying I could get myself a new one, but it was a little strange that the whole time we were there, there were only two other people eating by themselves, and everyone else who came in seemed to be friends or family, talking to everyone, hugging, going into the kitchen, and then just chatting at a table by the door. It very much seemed like a family business, but more family than business. I felt like I was at a friend's kid's birthday and had arrived late, and was eating in the back on a folding table while everyone else chit chatted. I think this experience would have been better if the buffet was better advertised/promoted, if there were spices and yogurt, and if there were fewer non-customers present. Still, I'd probably go again.

I got the Chicken Shawarma wrap with fries and hot damn if that wasn't some of the best vegan food I've ever tasted! I'm more of a flexitarian, but I try to eat at least one vegan meal a day. And wow, am I glad I chose this place! First off, those fries. Seasoned to perfection. I think they use some sort of cajun seasoning. But whatever it was, it was hella good. Next, the wrap. Um, what?! How is this vegan?! Whatever meat alternative they used, the texture was perfect. Also amazing seasonings and sauces. It was packed with flavor and lots of veggies. And it was super filling, too! I also grabbed a coconut water cause I need my electrolytes. I took my meal to-go, but kind of regretted it because the inside is so cute! Retro diner chic. Counter stools. Tiled floors. Adorbs. Also, the staff was super helpful and very attentive even though I was doing take-out. Just a five-star experience all around. Can't wait to come back for more delicious vegan food!!
