I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. I got the Avocado Caesar with chicken. It was pretty good but hard to cut in the bowl since it would start to wobble. My husband had to hold it so it wouldn't flip over. My husband got salmon, kung pao cauliflower and cauliflower risotto. The salmon was small but tasted ok. I had hoped for more flavor from the kung pao cauliflower and we wouldn't order the risotto again. We didn't care for the nutty flavor. They have two teas--one Sencha green which I liked and one passion black tea which tasted weak. Chick-fil-a has good strong tea which is why it's so popular. This time I'm Plano i got the soup and they put it in a rather large looking cup but they didn't fill it. The bowl was leaking so i grabbrd a water cup they had sitting outside for water while you wait or arrive (nice touch). I thought I'll put most of it in the cup and quickly eat the remain but there was nothing left. The "big cup" is the exact same size of soup you get as the water cup. I am biased as I fell in love with Flower Child since we lived in Austin and I was happy to hear that they opened up a new store close to my home. I love how you can enjoy every kind of dish (Italian, Mexican, Asian) without feeling the guilt of being too heavy or unhealthy. Their squash pasta with red sauce is so delicious! I made the mistake of placing an online order for the wrong location, but the two people helping me were so sweet and quickly got my order placed as well as called that other location to process a refund! Yoli at the Preston location is incredible, as is Flower Child in general, but today I felt valued as a customer. During peak lunch rush I'd made a mistake on my to go order, ordering to the wrong location. Yoli saw me standing in the crowd and walked up, then once she heard what happened sprang into action. She asked her chef calmly but directly to make the two bowls I'd ordered, and he calmly confirmed and made them right away. Yoli clearly garners respect in the workplace and her team clearly has an aligned mission. I was thankful for the help today. The food here is sooo good. I came in for lunch Saturday and they were so busy I was impressed. I'm new to the area and was getting advertisements for it on Instagram and I came in and I was so surprised. The woman (Jen) at the counter recommended the chicken plate with Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese and it was perfect! She appeared to be training some people and it was nice to see that they were so thorough. Found out they just opened and that there were a ton of locations so I might stop by another one just to try it out! Will be coming back sometime next week to try those chicken enchiladas ! We both heard that the gluten free Mac and cheese was excellent. Boy were we disappointed. The pasta was way over done almost mush consistency with barely any cheese if any. It was more of a butter sauce maybe? The broccoli was way over garliced, like stick a head of garlic in your mouth pungent. Brussels had great flavor but again over done almost mush. Sweet potatoes were a different take and actually good. The cauliflower was like a mushy rendition of a mashed potato type dish? The good, we tried the queso, lemon, olive cake, and chocolate chip cookie. All three of those were fantastic. The queso is real queso not some watery nastiness. The lemon olive oil cake was delicious for being gluten free. Almost like a perfect moist lemon pound cake without the icing. The chocolate chip cashew cookie was delicious as well as being gluten free. Excellent texture to flavor ratio. Service was so so. It's a place that you order then sit down. That was a let down to be honest. The ambience was medium loud and there were only maybe 20 customers while we were in here. Would I come back here again? I would for the deserts for the wife. I've been to this restaurant a half a dozen times in two months. Love the place--every food choice is fantastic. Service is fabulous and the eatery has a great vibe. I did ask the manager what type of oil was being used on my "glow" bowl, and she wasn't sure if it was olive oil or sunflower seed oil. I did some research about seed oils used at Flower Child restaurants and I understand grapeseed oil is also being used in their otherwise healthy food. Next time I visit, I'm going to specifically request that the chef use only olive or avocado oil on my meal. We are delighted to have this restaurant closer to our home but they need to step up their game and stop using toxic inflammatory seed oils. This is the reason I don't dine out more often. read more
