So so cute! I was drawn in because of the name (ducks are so cute!) but definitely was greater with a positive experience. I actually left my wallet at home (shame on me) but didn't realize until I ordered both a drink and a pastry. The cashier said it was on him! This was within my first month of moving here to Cleveland so I can't emphasize how kind this was and set the tone of Cleveland for me. The best scones, danishes & croissants I've ever eaten. The scones are crumbly yet very tender, and the date nut has the perfect amount of sweetness & fat-to-starch ratio. This guy has some mad baking skills!! The croissants were flaky, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth excellent. My first time trying a Kouign Amann, and I'll get them every time! It's like a croissant topped with creme brulee crust. Excellent! The lemon blueberry danish was incredible. Although we'd already had breakfast before stoppin in, I still wanted to try one of everything. They have lots of savory choices, like ham/cheese croissants, broccoli/cheddar scones, and their take on an "everything" bagel, which is a croissant topped with the "everything" and filled with cream cheese. I saw them warming a construction worker's ham/cheese croissant in the oven for his take-out order & thought that was a good idea, especially on a blustery & cold day. Look- I like the food. Lunch sandwiches, baked goods, coffees and teas are nice. I've gone there many times. But the owner is miserable. He likes to make you feel like you are rudely interrupting his day. Today his machine could not read my swipe card and he doesn't have a chip reader or Apple Pay. This is my third time coming to this cafe! This place is great to do some work with a nice music selection. I have tried the Kouign Amann, let me tell you it's bomb. Today, I tried the ham and cheese croissant. It was so delicious, they heated it up and it was amazzing. I recommend the herbal mango tea too! Service is always friendly. And there are other touches that make one feel welcome. Let's call them pleasant lacks. The ambient music lacks the spacey bombast of some other local coffee shops. The restrooms lack retrograde gender signifiers. The baristas lack the tired grandiosity that often permeates their ilk. One downside is paying to park ($1/hr) behind the establishment, though the first half hour is free. Still, the fee for service isn't felt too much as the lack of cozy booths and weathered armchairs make the Duck seem like more of a refueling point and less a lingerer's haven. Should be called the Salty Dog Cafe. The older gentleman working there either hates his job or hates customers. I stayed at the hotel near and came to get coffee. The grumpy old man working didn't greet me, when I politely asked for an Americana on ice, he said "you're not getting food? Food is what we do here" in an angry tone. I told him I just wanted the coffee, thanks. He slid the coffee over the counter passively aggressively. He did the same thing again when I came back so I left. I will note that I was wearing a mask because I'm immunocompromised. I noticed he wasn't rude to customers not wearing a mask. I'll never go here again. Average coffee, horrible service. read more

Their breads and pastries are above average. So why only two stars? Because they are so poorly managed and customer service is nonexistent. What bakery doesn't have bread to sell at 1:20? After circling the miserable parking lot twice, I finally walk in to be told that not only was there was no bread to sell, but he only sells 6 loaves a day, and uses 8 loaves for their sandwiches. No placating words or apologies, just that I should not expect to buy bread here. His attitude was more or less "Tough titties!" Walked the block back to my car and drove away fuming. Pretty cool place (in addition to the name). My daughters split a pizza that was quite tasty, and my spicy turkey sandwich was very nice. This is a clearly more bakery than restaurant or coffee shop, so we will need to come to try the croissants, baguettes and pastry. It does provide a cleanly decorated, light atmosphere to hang out. All in all, a nice Fathers' Day experience to bike ride here with my daughters and check out a new place. This place has a small but high quality selection of salads, soups, sandwiches, etc. I really enjoyed a ham baguette and my wife had a small salad that was really fresh. When she asked for some bread to eat with it they gave her two slices of really nice whole wheat and didn't charge for them. Looks like they had a decent crowd on the day I was there. So many bakeries in Cleveland, so little time! Let me just say that you should probably, definitely put Fluffy Duck on your short list; it's a cut above most of the other bakeries in Cleveland in terms of professional, high quality pastry. I've never quite recovered from the loss of beloved Bonbon Bakery and their other-worldly chocolate crossaints, and Fluffy Duck's aren't an exact dupe, they are pretty darn close. This and the kouign amann would be alone to keep me coming back. All that being said, I will admit that I visited this bakery twice, and both times there was a rather surly gentleman working at the front. Perhaps he wasn't surly, just somewhat nonfriendly, but regardless, my first visit this kind of put me off. Partly because I rarely visit coffee shops/bakeries unless I'm planning to stay a while and enjoy the atmosphere, but when the staff is not so friendly it definitely doesn't lend a welcoming vibe. Despite this, the interior is bright and spacious and there's that lovely aroma of butter and sugar when you enter. I should also mention the cafe choices, many of which are made in house (homemade syrups, homemade chai blend) but I did find the coffee to be a bit weak for my preference. I've also tried their pizza, which I found a bit lackluster personally, and I wouldn't order again. All in all, I really really enjoy the pastry at Fluffy Duck, and should their service improve, I'd definitely consider visiting more based on this alone. read more

I don't usually write reviews but after leaving this place I was thoroughly disgusted. The man taking the order was rude and barely audible. He forgot to make my coffee. I stood at the counter and all the employees just started at me without attending to me. When I asked for milk for the coffee he again was rude and just pushed the milk carton towards me. The food took over 1/2 hour to make and I ordered a salad and a margarita pizza. There was a tattooed woman rolling dough in the back glaring at the customers and me. The pizza was good, but the salad was horrible!! So sour and consisted of carrots, lettuce a few slices of raddish and pickled onions. I should have asked for a refund but I'm pretty sure I wasn't going to get anywhere. Not going back here! read more
