I used their new online ordering system and it was so easy. It told me when to expect my pizza to be done so I showed up just a few minutes early to pick it up and watched it get cut. There was also a promo code for 30% off on their home page which was nice too. I removed sausage from my combo pizza and put a note in the special request section about wanting tomatoes instead and they did it. Round and round it goes in ever decreasing cocentric circles...think down the drain. Having my First Flying Pie Pizza in the mid 70"s when Howard started Flying Pie, I have been a a fan. Things went well over the first decades, eventually Flying Pie was sold ....Not a good thing. We gave up on the delivery service and went in today. Our first clue; it was during lunch hour. Only a couple of cars in the parking lot. My wife and I were the only ones there during the lunch hour. We ordered the Combo as we have for years. When we got the pizza and tasted it we knew something was amiss. The crust was like the worst frozen pizza from Walmart. It was thick and chewy and had a horrible aftertaste. Not at all what they have been serving. It lefts a horrible aftertaste. My wife and I asked one of the employees if they had changed their dough recipe, or if they were ordering in dough. They said they were making it...very hard to believe. Maybe the yeast was bad and the dough fell during rising, but it was like unrisen dough, or something else. read more

Flying Pie, what are you going to take away next? I first ate at your Fairview location with my family in March of 2010, and fell in love with the funky, quirky 80's vibe. I even remember leaving some notes in a green book that apparently all new diners used to sign on their first visit. The pizza was high quality, but the experience was so consistently good that I wouldn't go out to any other pizza place in the Treasure Valley. FP had something different. I used to travel a lot internationally, and literally almost every time I'd come home, my first meal out with the family would be FP. You expanded, opening in Meridian, and after some growing pains, seemed to have found your stride. But in the past year or so (2019-2020) I keep wondering what happened? Many or the quirky and unique things that made FP different and special are going away, or gone, and what's left is pretty good quality pizza, served slowly (45m-1h for dine-in), at a premium price. It might seem silly, and many of the things that are gone might not seem like much, but as they add up, FP goes from being a premium product, different from competition, to a commodity. And now that Idaho Pizza Company has decent draft beer, they're in my rotation. I applaud testing the market, and seeing if some of the stuff you do isn't appreciated or valued by customers. But I think you guys are going a bit too far, and are fraying long-term relationships. The old Flying Pie experience doesn't seem to exist anymore, and when I take out-of-town guests in, they ask me "that was good, but pricey, and man, we waited so long...what was the big deal about the place?" What's gone: -Mints at the exit -Fabulous 5 Pack (gone for awhile, now back...that's promising) -Free breadsticks for dine-in (costs you like nothing, and makes the long wait more bearable). -Gourmet Night -Many of the old staff that recognized us, and that we recognized Guys, the pizza's still OK, and I can live with the slow service. But without all the quirky fun things that made FP what FP was, you're just another pizza place, so why shouldn't I go to IPC and get a quick combo and a few pints of Sockeye? Downgrading my review (of the Fairview location) to 2 stars per above. TLDR: Good pizza, above-average quality, but expect a long wait. Decent draft beer selection (used to be much better). If you just want a pizza, you can do better somewhere else. read more

If you have the cash, get the pizza. I always get the pesto primavera (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and it is so good on the first day I can eat WAY too much in one sitting. Don't even get me started on how glorious the second day pizza is. It. Is. Amazing. Every single human I have brought to this place has fallen in love no matter the pizza, and one night they were out of what goes on my normal pizza so I said "I like spicy, I'm a vegetarian, surprise me" and they did, with an EPIC CUSTOM pizza right out of their imagination and it was glorious. It is always busy and always kind of loud, being an introvert the loud sometimes gets to me but it vanishes the instant that the pizza makes contact with my taste buds. Do you like to draw? Do you like art? Then check out their awesome comment cards that are sometimes works of art, sometimes adorable, sometimes inspirational. The people who work there are divers and awesome. The fact that the place hires different kinds of people is actually the main reason I am willing to spend the extra money, not that the pizza isn't worth it, but if I'm going to spoil myself it might as well be in support of a great institution that celebrates unique employees. They have FUN at their job, it at least looks fun. I envy them! Are you visiting Boise? The only reason you shouldn't eat here is if you don't want other pizza ruined for you forever. You will only want this pizza after, and its very possible you will consider residence. Beer. Tripple pie. Do it. Do lots of it. Get a damn gallon if they let you, it is the best beer ever. They ruined chain pizza for me, I have ZERO desire to ever eat at a pizza hut or dominos. If you are on a diet, and you are going to splurge for pizza. Do not, I repeat DO NOT. This is the best pizza in the valley and beyond. This is no chain or franchise pizza. The toppings are generous, the sauce and dough are one of a kind. Well worth the stop! The Fairview location is my fav, but there are others if you don't want to go that far. I'd highly recommend it. read more

We were brought here by locals on a Saturday night. Place was hopping. We enjoyed breadsticks and two pizzas...the zambini and a vegetarian one. They give you a "card", so they know where to find you (after you place an order at the counter). Everything was hot and the pizzas were full of toppings. Filling and very good. Loved the jalapenos on the zambini...just the right amount. I will say that the salad bar was a mess and not at all appealing, and not too sure what to make of the giant ball of foil. But overall the place has character and was a good choice for us on a busy Saturday night. Love to find local good eats when traveling! read more

Upon opening the pizza box it seems they burnt the hell out of sun dried tomatoes. Not a little Luke black as night. Flying Pie is for sure one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted! The crust is just the right amount of dough, crisp on the outside and full of flavor. I had a mushroom and pineapple and my daughter had a specialty Gouda and mozzarella cheese with a variety of toppings. I tried to work this out, manager decided it was better to let the business go. First visit to Boise and this pizza place is Everywhere, can't understand why after this experience. I love, love, LOVE Flying Pie! I've tried most of the items on their menu at one time or another, and have yet to discover a stinker. That said, of course I have my favorites--as does my family. No matter how many times we order said favorites, they are always just the way we remember them. Good dependable consistency. Dining at any of their locations always feels fun. The employees seem happy to be there, and this adds to a general party feel that just plain makes you feel good. The fact that you're eating amazing pizza during your stay certainly helps! Since the pandemic, we've gotted used to having our pizza delivered. There's never been an issue with getting our order right, and their website is terrific! If you're expecting visitors from out of town (or indeed, from out of state), why not make believers out of them? It'll make them glad they came. A Boise tradition in my family. My dad loves this place and has been coming for 20 years when we visit in the summertime. It's a memory- and walking in the door you can tell a lot of people have memories at this place! Murals, customer art, and a giant foil ball add character to this place that you can't get many places. We've done the lunch buffet in the past, but this year we opted for salad bar and a few pizzas to share during dinner time. Their salad bar has a lot to choose from- 4 varieties of lettuce, 6 or so dressings, and many other salad toppings and sides. Th pizzas do takes some time, but they're yummy! We got sour dough crust on a chicken/garlic/white sauce pizza, ham/pineapple, and some sort of pizza covered in meat. Their sausage looks a little like ground beef but it's definitely sausage. The staff is super friendly and I would recommend visiting this place if you're in the area. I think this is the original location- at least according to my pizza loving father. read more
