We live in a neighboring burb near the new Fogo in Bridgeport so we were eager to check it out. Since I'm not much of a meat eater and my husband is working on some health issues, we decided to try a different approach to our dining experience. Instead of the customary, meat-centric meal, we went on a Friday afternoon for a Market Table lunch. The vibe was cozy, not overly chaotic or crowded, and the service was attentive. Though the 'Table' seemed a bit abbreviated compared to the downtown location, there were still plenty of lettuce greens, marinated and roasted veggies, potato salad, charcuterie-style meats and cheeses, smoked salmon, sliced fruits, and an especially yummy chicken salad. The breads served at the table were the same as usual and, if you wanted a different vibe, there was also sliced French bread and butter located at the soup/rice/bean (feijoada) table. All and all this was a really good experience for us and we plan to do this again soon. read more

There's so many tables so there's a lot going on and it's hard for the staff to be attentive to any particular table so be prepared to wait for a lot of stuff. Like others have said, it feels like they go cheap on the more premier meat options so I got the same rotation or cheaper stuff over and over like chicken and pork as opposed to better cuts of steak. A couple of meats I never even got to try because they never came to my table, and one meat I really wanted didn't come until the very end basically at the end of my dining experience. The salad bar was excellent, and my wife and I probably enjoyed that and the table sides more than the meats themselves. For $36 per person, it felt more like an overpriced salad bar with a few underwhelming extras--short ribs that were tough, smoked salmon that was too dried and just okay, and an omelette station that didn't stand out and super slow to get your order. What made it worse was the service: several dishes sat empty for a long time, and even after asking for refills (including the salmon, fruits, and susuages), nothing seemed to happen. Fogo de Chao has one of my favorite happy hours of all time. I am staying at the hotel across the street so coming here was a no brainer! They have bar bites starting at $6 and cocktails for $10 all day, every day! Service was quick and friendly and they brought out delicious complimentary cheese bread. Service was disappointing from the moment we were seated. Our party of eight was placed at a table just outside the kitchen, but that didn't translate into good service. It took a long time just to get drinks, and getting our meal started was equally slow--even though the Market Table was ready to go. Our original server seemed frustrated from the start and never recovered. About 30 minutes after we were seated, they handed us off to another server without passing along the order we'd already placed, so we had to start over from scratch. There seemed to be an army of employees on the floor, yet the restaurant struggled to keep up with the tables. The atmosphere among the staff didn't seem very positive, and it appeared other employees were trying to avoid our original server rather than work together. One person in our group ordered the sea bass, while the rest ordered the Best of Brazil experience. We eventually tried: Picanha (Prime Top Sirloin) Fraldinha (Bottom Sirloin) Torresmo (Pork Belly) Alcatra (Top Sirloin) Linguica (Spicy Pork Sausage) Cordeiro (Lamb Picanha) Lombo (Parmesan Pork) Frango (Chicken) Queijo Assado (Blistered Cheese with Malagueta Honey) The sea bass didn't arrive until everyone else at the table had already finished eating. Even with our table located right outside the kitchen, the meat service was surprisingly slow. We were frequently passed by without being offered cuts. The replacement server did check on us several times, and each time we explained that we hadn't seen many gauchos. He would round someone up, we'd receive a single piece or two to share among the table, and then we'd wait again. To make matters worse, the table sides--including the Brazilian cheese bread, mashed potatoes, caramelized bananas, and polenta fries--were never replenished without us asking, and some weren't refilled at all. For a restaurant that prides itself on continuous table service, it simply wasn't happening. This just isn't the Fogo de Chão experience we remember from before COVID. We've given this location multiple chances over the past few years, hoping it would return to what it once was, but each visit has been disappointing. The quality of service and overall dining experience simply aren't what they used to be. It felt more like eating at a Country Kitchen that occasionally served premium meat than the upscale Brazilian steakhouse it once was. The downtown Portland area has improved somewhat, with fewer people openly using drugs and less harassment than in recent years, but it still doesn't feel like the family-friendly destination it once was. Unfortunately, after several attempts to give this restaurant another chance, we won't likely be back. read more

I was APPALLED that the restaurant NOT ONLY jacked up their prices from $50 to $72;but charged my grandson (who ate a lot of pineapple) $72 FULL PRICE just like an adult. Who does that. The restaurant was busy but not quite half full so there is room to walk b through (there are too many tables imo, it's hard to not get in someone's way). Started out with an Old Fashioned, which was strong and good, I also ordered the Market Brunch. Everything was tasty and there were lots of options to choose from! Came here for a birthday dinner and turnout to be one of my worst dinning experiences I've had in a long time. Our server was friendly and everything was fine at first until it started to get busy. Apparently his section was across the restaurant from our party so we ended up getting ignored a lot. Felt bad for him because it was his first night on his own. Well I don't eat much meat (only chicken) and mostly eat vegetarian so only two options. A cauliflower steak for $45 or a tofu dish for $49. I ordered the tofu and it included their salad bar/buffet. Didn't get told that they were out of tofu for 30 minutes waiting for my meal. No manager came by to apologize or render the situation until a manager came by and was helping clear plates. I asked about the tofu and she said well we are out. Then explained to her I ordered it and wasn't told for 30 minutes. Then I got my meal/salad bar $37 comped and a free dessert. Salad bar had a lot to choose from but the veggies were all very bland. The mushrooms and corn salad were about the only good thing. Drink service was very slow and took about 15-20 minutes to get your drink. Then it took forever to get the dessert menu and dessert. Best dessert was the crème brûlée cheesecake. Lava cake was cold with chocolate syrup in the middle and my crème brûlée was descent. Then when it came to the bill it went even more downhill. We split it 3 ways. Not too hard but boy was that mistake. It was all messed up and we just gave up, paid and left. I will not be back. Overpriced and poor service and management. Best part of the meal was the rolls. Fogo de Chão popped up in our search when we were looking so we gave it a try. When we first got there we were seated quickly at a large table in back. The ambience was pretty casual which was not a bad thing since we had children with us. One downside was that the location of our table was in an awkward spot by the kitchen that made us feel like we couldn't move without being in someone's way. It was also kind of close to a door and we had some flys that wouldn't leave us alone. We were a very large number of people so we all wanted different things and the set up made it interesting to navigate. Some of us would be waiting to eat while others were being served. The food kept coming for a while but did seem to become less and less as time went on with awkward periods where we were all kind of just looking at one another. Still, with the price point it was hard to complain. The meat was cooked to the temperature you asked for and you could keep requesting if you wanted a particular type of meat. The deserts were very tasty and overall we had a decent experience. We must have lucked out with our table placement too because it felt like we were the first stop for all the meat, we didn't even bother with the salad bar. Still the best buffet/steak restaurant in Portland. The food is so fresh. Where else can you go for fresh salmon lox, gourmet cheeses, fresh fruit (including papaya), hearts of palm, and marinated vegetables? The bread puffs are to dream about. The lunch market table in 2025 is still $18 if you forgot the meat experience. Weekday lunch is still reasonably priced and the experience is so beautiful and fun. I haven't experienced this, but they even have a weekend brunch too. Yelp first introduced me to this restaurant about 9 or 10 years ago when they first opened up here, and I'm forever grateful. Came here for our 20th anniversary meal with our three teenagers. I have been here in the past and this time it definitely missed the mark. OK, it was New Year's Day but the first thing that greeted us was tacky paper signs listing that it's dinner menu all day. Then after checking in, had to wait 20 minutes to sit down. The best table they brought us to was next to the back door. I kindly refused that as I wanted one that wasn't cold. They were obviously understaffed but everyone was running around working hard. No shame on the staff that was trying really heard to help. The meats came out but we were skipped often so we started to Just ask for certain cuts but eventually after 2 hours we got one of everything. The special was grilled cheese with honey and I loved that and we asked for grilled pineapple with cinnamon (both are off menu). We loved the cheese bread and kept asking for more. Kids liked the fried bananas and even the fried polenta sticks were good. Loved the beautiful Market Table, to call it a "salad bar" is an injustice as it's way more than that! The downer was the service. We had no dedicated waiter and told 3 to 4 people the same thing and nothing was done. For instance, we ordered cocktails upon sitting and after 30 minutes, we asked 4 waiters about them, we even told someone that was supposed to be the manager about them and then still nothing....an hour and 15 minutes later got a round of them but by that time we were not in the mood to quickly drink them and declined them. 15 minutes later another round came to us, but again, we were almost done and about to order dessert and so we declined them again. 1 and half hours after we ordered??? Seriously, they should have just left them at the table and comped the drinks by that time, but no one did! Sadness as it is our 20th anniversary...but no cocktails for us. We did receive one free dessert after we told them it was our anniversary. Overall, 5 for the food variety, 2 for the service. You pay $80 for the *chance* to get all the cuts of meat you are looking to try, and you just have to hope that you get a good variety at your table. It took a while for things to get started - our cards were turned to the green side and yet no one was stopping at our table - but when we finally got attention, we received multiple visits from wait staff with the same cuts of meat over and over. We didn't even know there were other kinds (lamb chops, sausage) making the rotation until after we had finished eating and saw them pass our table. The market sides buffet was great, but it constantly felt like we were trying not to totally fill up on sides while waiting for new cuts of meat to come our way. The price is just outrageous for what ends up being an extremely unreliable way to get a satisfying meal that is anywhere near worth what it costs. read more

I'm not a huge steak fan, but I did try several different cuts. I like that you are still able to pick how you like it cooked & if they dont have it available they will come back.
