I decided to treat myself to a dinner splurge at Fogo de Chão. Having been to two other Brazilian steakhouses, I can confidently say this one ranks at the top of the list. We were seated immediately, and our server was quick to greet us and get our order started. We opted for the Full Churrasco, which gave us the complete Brazilian steakhouse experience of continuous tableside carving of premium Brazilian cuts paired with access to the Market Table. Every cut of meat was phenomenal. I only wish my stomach could accommodate the amount I wanted to eat! The picanha and roasted chicken thighs were the clear standouts, though it was a very close race. The customer service was impressive. The manager made a point to check on our table throughout the evening, helping keep the service running smoothly while ensuring we received the complimentary sides and dipping sauces. It was evident that hospitality was a priority. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. I thought I'd give this place a try I've heard so much about this place. The ambiance great, very put together and clean. Food 7/10 the cold sides were pretty good I enjoyed the chicken with bacon and the meat with a chilli sauce. The lamb chops were bland (which is the main reason outside of it being my bday) I didn't care too much about the services the staff was friendly but I they kept standing by the table looking back and whispering. I did not like it at all. But of course I wouldn't make a scene. I never mentioned anything, we paid/ tipped and left. we were the only AA in the restaurant at the time. Hopefully that isn't what was going on. Before we left another couple came in. Not sure for their experience. Will not recommend/ nor go back. A tasty dining experience! My fiancé and I visited Fogo de Chão for the first time about a month ago and we had a lovely time. Despite being located on the River Walk, it wasn't all that packed when we went, though having our reservation helped in us getting seated faster. Dinner was great as the staff and servers were attentive, the view of downtown and the atmosphere were nice, and for the most part things were pretty delicious. I started with a Caipirinha and had a small plate of assorted appetizers from the market table while I waited for my drink. The bar had a huge spread of cold cuts, cheese, salads, and fruits and vegetables amongst several other things. My drink and our appetizers were tasty, and it wasn't long before servers started visiting our table with various meats. Unfortunately my first slice of meat was literally nothing but fat, but everything after was delicious. I'd say my favorite was the Filet Mignon and Honeyed Cheese; we heard several other guests around us, ourselves included, ask for another round of the Cheese when it was no longer making the rounds. I will note that we were there for about two hours and the same things kept rotating through the dining room for the first hour and a half before the selection of meats started to change up. We were a little disappointed as we were pretty full at that point and would have loved to try the new items. If only they'd come out sooner! As we were celebrating our 11th anniversary, we were served an absolutely divine Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream on the house. We had the Ice Cream at the restaurant and the staff packaged up the Cake separately for us to take home as we weren't able to eat much more by the end of our meal. I'm not typically a chocolate cake fan, but this Lava Cake was one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had! I think this restaurant could make for a good date location or night out with friends. I'd say be careful of having any oils splash onto you when the meat is getting cut at your table, but it just comes with the territory of a Brazilian steakhouse. I come to this restaurant very often since Brazilian steakhouses are my favorite. This time around, I actually enjoyed the salad bar more. They keep adding more and more options, which I liked. The meat was delicious as usual, but we didn't get enough rotation. It felt like the same 3 servers were going back and forth trying to bring out different cuts, which made it take forever just to get something different. What really disappointed me was the service. Brazilian steakhouses usually take pride in customer service and etiquette, but as soon as we were seated, our waitress had an attitude and was dismissive toward the table. That sucked especially since this was my birthday dinner. Toward the end, another server, Johnny, was also disrespectful. I asked about my military discount, and he came back only applying it to my experience and nothing else, even though I was with a group of military friends and we had already stated that. When I questioned it, he responded with "well that's the only ID I saw" with an attitude. I understand if policies change, but I've been here many times and have never been asked to verify everyone's ID for the discount. All he had to do was ask and do his job with a little more respect. We corrected the issue and my friends showed their IDs, he still only discounted a portion, and when he came back, he still had an attitude. Although any attire is welcome most people are dressed nicely. We were a large party in the private room that can hold about 80 people. Our servers, Pheuelopy and Argentiua were impressive with our diverse party and did an incredible job keeping glasses full, providing fresh plates and meeting the needs of the group. 5/5 highly recommend reserving a room to Celebrate a special event or dining with a special someone. We visited this location on Friday, February 6 in the evening, and while we've always enjoyed the food and overall experience here, something happened that really concerned us. On separate occasions, both my wife and I saw employees exit the restrooms without washing their hands. This was visible from inside the restrooms, and it was surprising--especially for a restaurant that positions itself at a higher standard. We genuinely like dining at Fogo de Chão and want to keep coming back, but this raised real questions about hygiene practices behind the scenes. Look, if you've been to one Fogo location you've been to them all. This is no different in the set up, salad bar offerings and meat options. We had a work dinner for a party of roughly 20 on a Wednesday night. Place was fairly busy and we were off in a separate room almost. Main complaint is and always will be how long it takes for them to bring you a specific meat choice when it's ribeye/filet, lamb chops or beef rib. Seriously waited 30 min for the beef rib. Like I get it it's a more expensive cut and all but don't offer it if your strategy is you hope your diner runs out of patience or fills up on other stuff. Main bright spot was our server Chris, who made sure to stay after the kitchen and actively encouraged us to request what we wanted. I was very disappointed with our Mother's Day dinner at Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse on the Riverwalk. Upon being seated, the service was very slow and not attentive like it used to be. The proteins took a long time to make it to our table, and I even had to ask for bread because we were skipped several times. We requested filet mignon multiple times throughout the meal and did not receive it until the very end, when I was already full and unable to truly enjoy it. For the price we paid, $65 per person, the experience was definitely not worth it. This location used to be one of my favorites, but after this experience, I will likely visit the newer location instead, where the service has been much better. read more

TLDR: Excellent restaurant, even if you're not into red meat... There's plenty of places in Texas that do a mean steak - so we tried FDC for the seafood! Parking is easy enough at the surrounding garages but expect to walk a half-block or more to get to the restaurant. This is a semi-upscale kind of place, where you can arrive casually but there are no booths available. It's also right on the Riverwalk, but I didn't spot any tables that could take advantage of the view. Still, if you need a candid shot just go outside. Service was top-notch though I can see how they could get overwhelmed when the dinner service really hits. That, or we just got lucky. We tried their chilled lobster and shrimp appetizer, which was excellent, as was the grilled Chilean sea bass. The show-stealer turned out to be their creme brulee, which was big enough for two! Of course, our server thought she was in for a free ride when we were seated as she all but pushed toward the market table ("salad bar" in her vernacular). I get it, but she read the table wrong. We saw very little of her or our other server, though he did pick up our dirty plates and say he would bring two clean ones (he did not even bounce past us until the end of the meal). Water glasses sat empty. Another server popped by us three times, and when I asked for a crab fork, she had no idea what that was. No one asked if we wanted additional drinks until after we asked for the check. I know this is not a server-heavy environment, but our primary server did spend a great deal of time chatting up the young couple at the table next to us. The seafood tower ($112) took quite some time to arrive. That said, it was tremendously fresh and delicious. Still, the only utensils brought for crab legs and lobsters claws were the crab-crackers. The Market Table? Now that is the hidden gem. I could go, get just that, and keto-out on the charcuterie options. All the selections there were bountiful and fresh. Fogo has three nice seafood options at the top of their menu, and I truly hope they learn what a crab fork and crab pick are. For what the dining experience here should be, I was left disappointed with my visit. I've been to Fogo de Chão at their San Diego location and had higher expectations for service and quality than I received at the riverwalk. Brasão would have been a better choice in dining with their excellent waitstaff. This dining experience was on the mediocre side. The bad: a Coke is $4.65. That they pour from a can and leave on the table. In this dining setting it is incredibly trashy and in poor taste. Only once were we asked if we'd like another single Coke and never again. The same with water. If I'm paying already paying for a $7 bottle of water ask me if I want another so my glass isn't left empty during my meal It's crowded with little space between tables. Our server, Aline's demeanor seemed displeased and came by infrequently. There were times we had to ask the manager for a green/red card and flag down another server for a straw. The food is so-so for Brazilian. Pão de queijo isn't all that great but they do at least bring it by without request. The good: They have a laminated allergy menu. Some cuts are truly incredible. Crème brûlée was perfection. Gauchos were nice, friendly The high chair we had was functional and fitting. In all for what it should be the experience was lacking and could use improvement. Our family of 12 went Father's Day 6/21/26, which was the first time that my husband and myself had tried this particular one here in San Antonio . Upon arriving the whole atmosphere was chaotic! The reception area was very small and hard to check in for our reservations .This I realized may have been due to it being Father's Day, and very busy. Ok ??? The reason I'm giving such a negative review was the food was SO HORRIBLY UNACCEPTABLE to me! The meat was cooked properly, but SALTY DOESN'T even touch All the different cuts that were served to me. Sadly after trying a bite from each slice I wasn't able to continue eating it. Very disappointing and upsetting! The salad bar was much smaller than the other Brazilian steak houses we have tried and most selections weren't flavorful. My husband didn't eat his salad, but at least I was able to eat mine. If you have sensitive taste buds and don't want to feel like you're licking a Salt Lick you might not enjoy this place. Ended up here after a long all day meeting. Would have preferred to try something local but to accommodate a large group with little planning time, this was the choice. It didn't start off well as we waited 40+ mins for our table to be ready even though we had reservations. To be fair, it was a busy Sat night at Riverwalk, but at least be transparent about wait times. Like all Fogos, you know the drill; eat your veggies, minimal carbs, and keep the meat coming. I've been here so many times, I know exactly which cuts I need: picanha, ribeye, beef rib, lamb chops, and leg of lamb. I refuse to eat any other cuts and often take several slices when they finally come around. Most of the time, you have to request these items specifically since they try to fill you up with the other sirloins, pork, and chicken (seriously, who eats these other cuts?). I also love their 'fried' cheese, although they've changed the presentation from individual cubes and now they pour honey on top when you get it. Each piece isn't individually grilled anymore, so less crispy edges, but still pretty good. Also, they no longer have the grilled honey pineapple as part of the roaming dishes. They said its now a dessert that has to be ordered, which was disappointing. Service was OK, although at this price point, something more elevated is expected. The staff is very attentive and asked if we had any requests of meats or if we wanted anything cooked a certain way. As we savored our meal, the staff made rounds to each table, presenting meticulously prepared meats that practically melted in our mouths. Determined to address the issue promptly, I called the restaurant to speak with the manager. However, instead of cooperation, I was met with hostility. The manager vehemently denied any wrongdoing by their staff and dismissed my concerns, leaving me feeling frustrated and helpless. Realizing I wouldn't receive any assistance from the restaurant, I thanked them politely and ended the call. Swiftly, I contacted my credit card company again. Within minutes, they had taken decisive action. They traced the fraudulent purchase to its source and obtained a confession from the perpetrator, though the identity of the individual who leaked my card information remained undisclosed. While this incident didn't sour my perception of the restaurant chain as a whole, it did cast a shadow over the specific location's integrity and customer service. The lack of accountability and assistance from the management was disappointing, to say the least. A couple members of our party hold distinguished roles in top locations, within the broader hospitality group individuals whose careers place them among the top-performing locations nationwide (third overall, to be precise). To say they understand the standards is an understatement. That's exactly why we assumed this particular evening would be seamless. Instead, it was a case study in how a reputation can be squandered in a single service. I could sit here and elaborate on the fact that we only saw seven cuts of meat all night seven most of which were either inadequately rested, poorly cooked, or arrived with the enthusiasm of a cold doorstep pamphlet. I could mention the glass of wine that was delivered to the wrong table...and how it wasn't corrected until we pointed it out. I could discuss the 30-minute wait for cheese. Thirty minutes. For cheese. I could detail how several dishes arrived looking depleted and forgotten, as if they had been prepared by someone who had mentally clocked out before their shift even began. I could also emphasize the almost comical lack of attention to detail from being asked for our orders before we had even removed our coats, to the overall sense that hospitality existed only as a word printed somewhere in a corporate manual collecting dust. But truly, there are not enough characters allowed in this review to encompass every missed mark of the evening. Instead, I'll say this: as someone deeply respected in her own industry, I understand that at the end of the day, the governing word is hospitality. And here, it was entirely non-existent. The only thing that softened the blow of such an underwhelming dinner was the fact that I was still on cloud nine from having recently gotten married and that my new husband had just graduated from the United States Air Force, celebrating his final evening with family before leaving for training. Had I not been wrapped up in the emotion of all that, my disappointment here would have been significantly louder. This is not just feedback it is a warning. Do not come here for a celebration, and certainly not if you're honoring not one, but two members of our military. The lack of professionalism, confidence, and genuine care particularly from management made it abundantly clear that this once well-established location is coasting on name recognition alone.
