Chef Jojo is a genius when it comes to creating recipes where he proudly showcases his Filipino heritage through his cooking. The brunch menu is superb. Short stack pancakes are only $6- you get three ultra fluffy as big as your face pancakes (no exaggeration). If it's your first time I also suggest the soft scrambled egg toast. Served with a spread of house Boursin on Maui artisan sourdough. Sounds simple but the flavors will scream and do a happy dance in your mouth. Also do yourself a favor and try one of the "silogs". Adosilog was my favorite- scrumptious pork belly with adobo sauce, garlic fried rice, sunny side fried egg and atchara. We are so excited that this restaurant opened to serve the community. We found out about this gem from a local and boy were we excited. Our first visit was for dinner and we were blown away by the space and decor. It's very open and spacious with a very nice modern chic but not stuffy ambiance with some jams playing in the background. Dinner was so delightful that I told my husband we have to come back for breakfast. My husband had the fish bento box with a fried egg and I had the bowl of Lox over tater tots. Just think of lox, capers and onions over a bowl of perfectly cooked tater tots! They had special to add a short stack of pancakes for $1 if you order $30 or more and of course we had to add that.... the short stack was humongous and so fluffy and delicious. We highly recommend stopping by this place. Since it's still fairly new you don't need reservations but I have a feeling that the next time we go to Maui word will get out and it will be tough to get a table here. read more

We were looking for a "last night" place to dine and fell upon Fond. This restaurant was perfect in every way. The staff is so attentive and very helpful with recommendations for first timers. Tried the citrus vodka drink and it was so tasty!! The catch of the day was perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing. The beef was cooked perfectly. Normally we don't order dessert but we couldn't resist. Cheesecake. Not heavy and just about the right portion size. No leftovers here! From the parking lot I couldn't tell that this was a restaurant, but once inside it has a very pleasant ambiance. My wife and I had the fried chicken bites to start (can't go wrong there), and then the paniolo burger and pork and lentils cassoulet (both fantastic). I'm extremely SATISFIED that I went to Fond Maui. This was our family's first experience in Hawaii and we wanted to go BIG! We first ate at the "fine dining" restaurants on yelp and left each restaurant full but not happy nor satisfied. Today is my Wife's Birthday and we tried to eat at two other restaurants that had full lines and packed booths. Luckily Fond had minimal reviews because once people find out about this place, it's going to skyrocket. The customer service was genuine and the music was very current and young family appropriate. Had an amazing dinner at Fond tonight! Started at the bar where the cocktails were yummy and the bartender super friendly. Moved to a table and our group of four ordered a variety of share plates. The appetizer bento changes daily and the spring roll was my favorite tonight. We had the three meat skewers, wedge salad, corn dogs, clams and homemade pasta, sourdough bread, and the Fond of Chocolate dessert. Everything flowed well and the staff was attentive. Our family is staying in Kaanapali for 9 days and are *thrilled* to have tripped across Fond Maui only because we decided not to wait for hours to eat brunch at The Gazebo. Fond is now our favorite restaurant in Maui, hands down. For brunch, I had the silog bowl with house-made sausage (longganisa) ... basically garlic fried rice, a sunny-side egg, and a choice of meat/veggies (there's also adobo and salmon). Yum! The longganisa was savory and flavorful. My wife had the Hawaiian omelette, which had Portuguese sausage, onions, cheese, etc. ... also quite tasty. Our 10 year old daughter had a short stack of 3 *enormous* and fluffy buttermilk pancakes as big as her head ($6!). Meanwhile, her twin brother smartly decided to eat what the rest of us couldn't finish while ordering sides of bacon and miso soup. We were so satisfied with brunch, we decided to cancel a dinner reservation elsewhere and come back two days later for dinner. Dinner was AWESOME. We started with a "bento box" appetizer that apparently changes according to what's fresh and in-season at the time. Ours had four compartments: deviled eggs, beef skewers atop pickled vegetables, grilled shrimp atop garlic noodles, and a poached egg atop a potato croquette. The main courses are meant to be shared, though they can be ordered as half servings. We had a full order of the miso salmon (12 oz.) with pickled cucumbers and a half-order of the manila clam pasta, alongside a side of sauteed kale. The miso salmon was to-die for: a light sweetness balanced out the miso, and the fish was grilled to perfection. We killed all of it so there wasn't a noodle, sliver of garlic, or shred of kale left over. AND we are going back for dinner again tonight. We gotta try that steak. We're just bummed we won't be here for the upcoming Wednesday to try their fried chicken night. We love Fond. The produce and fish are fresh, local, and flavorful. Somehow everything here tastes like comfort food. I know that if Fond was in our hometown of Seattle, we would eat here weekly. We received the skewers, corndogs, bento, and the meatballs relatively quickly. The skewers were dry, corndogs skin unexpectedly soft, and the bento items flavorless. The meatballs were mediocre. The staff are untrained and cooks are slow. I stood at the bar waiting for 10 minutes and even after calling for the bartenders was left unserved. We waited for the entree for an hour and a half and was never served. We paid for the appetizers and left, not willing to wait any longer. read more

Really wanted to like this place but it was a total flop. Seeing all the positive reviews my husband and I decided to give this place a try. So why the poor review... As many reviewers already stated, this is an order at the front, pick up your own order and bus your own plates after. So zero service. However, this wasn't what warranted the poor review. It really came down to the food quality and cost. The husband ordered their Hawaiian omelette. The eggs came from liquid egg. The same quality you would get from Mc Donald's. So the questions becomes why pay the markup of $15 + tax + tip if you could get it for $8 somewhere else. The potato's were burnt and inedible. All his food went to the trash. As for me, I ordered the Longsilog bowl. My meat was pretty much burnt. I would have complained but there was no server to complain to. So that too went into the trash. The only thing I enjoyed was the ice coffee. So all in all that was $42 down the hole. Lesson learned! Read all bad reviews and take the good ones with a grain of salt. read more

for the price we paid and the amount of food, i personally didn't think it was worth it. we had ordered adobosilog bowl, longsilog bowl,side tater tots. overall the dishes were good. sadly of the food we had ordered the tater tots was very good. if you have issues with cholesterol, i do not advise ordering the adobosilog bowl. we have 4 pieces of meat and i'd say 85% was fat. on top of the poor food portion to price ratio it was a self service set up where we had to pick up our food, get our own utensils, and even clean up after ourselves. read more

More like three and a half. Good premise but food is a bit meh. Because the chef is Filipino, I had the adobo-silog and longganisa. Adobo was not bad. More like braised and then seared pork belly with an adobo glaze. The longganisa however was a disappointment. Served in in a patty, it tasted like a hamburger in the midst of an identity crisis - "Am I American? Or Asian?" It didn't taste like pork. If it was pork, it was lean pork. Ugh. Whoever reviewed it and said it tasted great probably never grew up in the Philippines so had no idea what longganisa should really taste like... And it's not this. It's self-serve and clear your own tables so can be quite annoying when people don't know how to clear restaurant dishes properly... And why should they? Lots of clanging, clinking and the occasional crash. Also, tables are a tad too high. Don't think I'll be back unless menu is revised. read more
