Ford's Garage is located in a newer shopping strip in Plantation. I've previously visited another location and it was great, so I was excited to go to this one. Unfortunately, the experience and food was not as good as the other location. The restaurant decor, props and bathroom sinks are very well thought out. We arrived and checked-in and the host asked if we've ever visited. We told her we've been to another but not that location. She proceeded to explain their service charge policy. When we sat down, the server asked the same question and proceeded to explain it to us again, which was odd because we just heard the same thing from the host. He shared multiple times how he works on a commission based pay and not a single penny of the the auto gratuity (of 20%) goes towards him, but instead, the team he is overseeing that day. The food was average, again, not as good as the other location we visited. It was just an average meal and the service was also not spectacular since all the servers already know they will receive the 20% tip. read more

I ate here honestly because Taco Craft was extremely packed and had a 1 hour wait. BUT this place was definitely worth the check out! It's a perfect place to watch a game because of the sports bar like ambiance. The burger choices were mind blowing on the menu and their beer options were also awesome. I think this is a great place to grab a burger and beer if you're in the area. We got a small beer flight and then got an espresso martini; both were good. My burger, I had extremely high expectations for, I'd say it was good, but not the best burger I've had. The fries were also very crispy and good. I think the highlight of the meal was the chicken tenders!! They were so tender and also the perfect crunch and crisp. There wasn't too much breading and the sauces were also delicious. I'll definitely be back for the chicken tenders. Also super random, but the bathroom was amazingly designed and really stood out to me. Go check it out! read more

Came here for a late lunch after picking up our marriage license certificate since the courthouse is nearby. Loved that they have an early happy hour (starts at 2pm)! It was our first time there and we were greeted with friendly faces, surrounded by life-size Model T cars, and they explained their experimental Team Model -- basically they're adequately staffed and they're placing an automatic 20% service fee and tipping is not required. Interesting concept! I've been told that they're known for their burgers, beer, and bathrooms... yes, definitely visit the bathroom before you leave! And we did try their burgers and beers, not bad! We started with pickle spears and we absolutely loved it! As you could tell in the photo, the pickle spears were well seasoned and fried well to a good crisp! The wasabi, cucumber dip went perfectly well with it. As for the burgers, I ordered the Mushroom Swiss with a side of truffle fries and I got to try my fiancé's Model A burger with a side of jalapeño cream of corn. I'm pleased to get truffle fries because it had more flavor than my burger -- I don't normally add salt to things but I needed to. My fiancé's burger was a little more flavorful than mine but not mind blowing either. Though his jalapeño cream of corn was very delicious! Packed with flavor and texture, and no worries, it's not spicy. I omitted a star just because the burgers we ordered didn't meet our expectations, but definitely not bad! We took advantage of happy hour by first ordering cocktails. He got the old-fashioned and I got the espresso martini... Both were good and strong, but I will admit, I've had much better. Then, we each grabbed a beer in which they rotate seasonally, and I will say, I absolutely loved my South Beach Brewing strawberry orange mimosa ale! For dessert, we ordered the caramel apple cookie skillet and we enjoyed it, although, we wished the cookie was much warmer. Overall, it is what we expected from a typical chain restaurant but we are pleased with having a good first experience there in terms of service and not having a dish or drink we disliked. First time here, and I was blown away. Large selection of beer and clean atmosphere. Gelsys and Byran took great care of me. Recommended the buff shrimp which is a great small bite. I had a Delirium Tremens draft which is hard to find. They have a frosty ice rail on the bar top to set your drinks on, usb charging under the bar(and purse hooks :) ) Very cozy atmosphere here. Good for groups despite me being alone. I liked the music too. Looks very family friendly too. Highly recommend stopping for lunch, dinner, game days if you're in Plantation Walk area. read more

Now to the part I didn't appreciate - both the host and the main server told us about their service model - a head waiter and others that support in a team style. Our waiter went out of his way to tell us the required 20% tip was only for the other staff, not for him. He stated he was based on commission and continued throughout the night attempting to upsell for additional drinks, apps, and specialty meals. I can't believe this was my first time here but certainly won't be the last. I've been to the one in Tampa a decade ago and didn't realize they have one in Plantation. As you might expect, this a Ford-themed restaurant featuring automobile memorabilia and trinkets. They also have Ford branded merch at the boutique located by the entrance. Everywhere you look, there's a car part, history pics of Ford, and even a life-size truck displayed prominently on top of the bar. Such a cool design. It's industrial-like but still a very comfortable dining space. Oh, plus the food is actually very good. For apps, I suggest the Classic Wings (who doesn't like wings?) and definitely get the popular Edsel's Hot Pretzel. I also tried the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna and it was delicious (plus it's a healthier option for some). For the main course, my server suggested the Jalapeno Crunch Burger. Wow! It was piled high with tasty toppings and the patty was perfectly cooked. It came with crispy fries but I also opted for the Onion Rings. They were the perfect size. Not those giant ones and also crispy. If you prefer something lite, I suggest the Chicken Henry. Its a marinated grilled chicken breast with lemon butter sauce. I paired it with their Mac N Cheese (so much for eating lite LOL) but the extra calories were worth it. For dessert, I highly recommend the Caramel Apple Cookie Skillet. Yeah, that's a mouthful, literally. This scrumptious dessert is enough for 2 or even 3 people. So good! Great experience at Ford's. Staff was very friendly and professional. Even the manager stopped by to check on my food and my experience. Definitely a good place to bring the family or group of friends. I would definitely come back here and hangout at the bar. Great food and friendly service! I got the veggie burger, and I'll be getting it again. It has guacamole, which adds flavor and creaminess to it, and the fries are delicious! My friend got the chicken cobb salad, and it looked just as good. It's a large plate, and the presentation was top tier, with avocado and bacon lined along the side. I'm not a huge beer person, but their mango cart beer was super refreshing! Service was very friendly too. Will be coming back for happy hour times. read more

Ok, so it seems that nothing has changed since my first review earlier this year. My daughter and her husband and kids went there for the first time to celebrate my grandson's birthday. I asked her how it went and she said, "The place sucks." This is coming from someone who gets embarrassed if I say anything negative during a meal, even to her! She said she finished her drink before the waiter came to take her order. At no time did he ask if she wanted another or come to check on the table during their meal. As she pointed out, an automatic service fee is typically included in higher-end restaurants and the service is stellar. Here, the food is just OK and the service is sub-par. Fun, lively, casual spot. Ford's Garage is located in the new Plantation Walk. You can find parking in the street (no meters) or in the garage. They automatically charge a 20% gratuity to your bill no matter what. But they advise you of this at the hostess station. We decided to give them a shot. We found the service to be worthy of the auto charge so no issue. We sat outside on a lovely day and had delicious eats. We enjoyed everything we ordered but mostly those burgers. So freakin good! When I crave a burger from now on, Ford's is definitely on that list. My brother told me they have a unique feature at the bar. Can't wait to go back and check it out. Pass! I have been to four different Ford's and the Plantation location is the worst. The food came out wrong and the burger was clearly a frozen patty. Other locations were much better and burgers were bigger and you got more than ten fries. Beware this location adds an automatic 20% surcharge on your bill. Fun concept. Ford as in the car company. Our server Garrett said they specialized in Beer, Burgers and Bathrooms. The bathroom has a lot of cool car related things in it. There are old Ford cars out front and over the bar. That's the decor but how's the food?!?! Food was GREAT! The burgers (cooked medium) were juicy and well seasoned. The tater tots were crispy, not greasy at all, and well seasoned. The onions rings were super crispy. The burgers!!! The burgers!!! Delicious. The service! Wonderful. I worried that this would be like a Hard Rock. All decor and blah food. But no, I'll be back for the delicious Amercano burger. They operate tipping on a "team basis". The 20% service charge doesn't go to the server but to the bussers and support staff. The servers get a commission. Not sure if the system really works for the servers. We bought 2 burgers and 2 beers, no apps no desserts. Kind of felt like I was shorting the server. We did add something extra and I really hope this model actually helps everyone involved. Ford's Garage joins a bunch of new eateries opening in the new mixed-use space that use to be the mall with Macy's on University Drive south of Sunrise and north of Broward Boulevard. It is affiliated with the Ford Motor Company, and the place has the car/garage theme with it's napkin holders, napkins that look like car rags, door openers that look like gas pumps, and bathroom sinks that look like tires. There is an automatic 20% surcharge on each bill. And patrons are told that they do not have to tip, but can. Servers and workers are paid wages averaging about $18 an hour. There is a card on the table spelling it all out. The aviance is car-themed and bar-like with TVs and such. There is indoor and outdoor dining. Now to the food. Hubby and I ordered the fish and chips, and substituted the chips with sweet potato tater tots, and the swiss mushroom burger. The presentation of the fish was stunning. I fell immediately in love with the dish. And it was a hefty piece of white fluffy fish. But then the romance died because the fish did not taste as good as it looked. There was no seasoning on it nor on the breading. Usually one or the other has some flavor. If you like tartar sauce, Ford's is really good and does complement the bland fish. Unfortunately for me, I am not a fan of tartar sauce. So, I had to season my fish with salt, pepper, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, and malt vinegar. It was still lacking but palatable. The swiss burger and fries were divine. The burger was perfectly done with a robust, meaty flavor. The fries were exceptionally seasoned (maybe they can add some of this seasoning to the fish?) and done well (as we requested) and was so scrumptious we ate each and every one. I think they are the best fries I have had in ages! We don't drink beer. And since it was a lunch meal before an important appointment, we opted out of trying any alcoholic drinks or desserts. My $1.99 upcharge for substituting sweet potato tater tots instead of fries appeared as $3.99 on the bill. (The server was wrong. She should know her prices.) And with tax, the 20% surcharge, etc. our meal for two was about $50. We did not leave an additional tip. We will be back to try some other items, along with scarfing down more fries. And please let me know if you add any flavor to that marvelous looking fish! read more

Came for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. The restaurant is huge so there was no wait. We were sat immediately, but not greeted by any servers for quite some time. Today was my first visit to Ford's garage. I have to admit I was slightly underwhelmed. Let's take it from the top: - hostess was great. She explained that 20% gratuity is added to all checks and we are free to tip an additional amount if we would like but it isn't necessary. I didn't have any problems with this - far too many servers are not tipped correctly. - our server was super nice. - I felt like the food took a really long time to come out. In all we were there for close to two hours. We ordered the onion rings to start - very yummy. Not greasy at all and had a good crunch and flavor. - we both ordered burgers for our main course. I ordered the brisket burger with tots and the other person ordered a regular burger with cheese. My side order of tater tots came out way before the rest of the food. The server stopped by to ask where our food was... and why had we only gotten the tater tots. She disappeared to figure out what was going on. About ten minutes later the burgers arrived - both were very cold and had obviously been hanging out somewhere before they arrived to our table. This really bothers me - I would prefer you take time time to make it again that serve cold food. Even though the burger was cold it had a decent flavor. I ate about a quarter of it and was done.
