I was excited to try this place the minute all the soft opening reviews popped up on Facebook. Hubby and I popped in around 1:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. There were 4 occupied tables. We were seated immediately. The first thing we noticed was the chairs slipping and sliding around, almost as if they were on rollers. For those of you coming with squirmy kids, beware. I got up to use the bathroom and the chair almost slid out from underneath me when I sat back down. We did have to wait a few minutes and had to flag someone to get a menu. Please note that the photos on the menu are for "reference only" and do not depict the actual quantity you will receive. I did notice the text quantity on the menu but over heard another patron complaining when their food came out, expecting to receive more. We ordered chicken dumplings (8), pork soup dumplings (6), garlic green beans and custard buns (4). The green beans arrived first. I was hoping they would be more dry fried with crispy garlic pieces. Flavor did not wow us but was good. I ended up drizzling with vinegar, soy sauce and chili oil to brighten up the flavor. We were pretty hungry and ate about half of the green beans until the soup dumplings came out. I asked for soup spoons, as this helps catch the soup when biting into the dumplings. I was hoping to get the kind you would typically get when you are served soup in a Chinese restaurant, but instead received ordinary tablespoons. Since the soup dumplings did not come out piping hot, a regular spoon did the job. The downfall? they did not come out hot. The soup inside the dumpling was luke warm. We did finish all the soup dumplings before the chicken ones came out. The chicken dumplings also contained corn and were a little dense. The sauce that is served with the dumplings was ok and a tad sweet for my taste. They do offer chili crisp oil, vinegar and soy sauce at the table, but you do have to ask for a dish, as it is not given to you with your place setting. We were still a bit hungry and ordered the custard buns. When they came out, the first thing I noticed was the scent. They gave off an odd, almost plastic smell. The second was the uniformity of the buns did not look handmade. The paper on the bottom had a familiar yellow print on them. I broke it open and didn't get that gooey lava yolky ooze. It was more of just a lump of yellow goop. The flavor did leave a weird artificial aftertaste in our mouths. I looked at my husband and said "i think these are frozen". He took out his phone and took a picture of the yellow wrapper. We did a quick internet search and found that they were in fact frozen Din Tai Fung buns. This suddenly made us wonder about the luke warm and over dense dumplings and wondered... were those store bought too? We were super excited when this establishment opened but unfortunately did not meet up to our dim sum standards. For local fresh handmade dumplings that come out steaming hot, I will stick to 88 Bao Bao until Fortune is a bit more consistent with temperature and timing of serving their dishes. Giving a 2-star rating because it is edible and does the job for your dumpling cravings. -minus one star for safety and cleanliness - the sliding chairs are a huge hazard and their single bathroom had no seat covers and paper towels strewn all over the floor. -minus one star for store bought dumplings, poor temperature and food timing -minus one star for staff - getting seated and having to wait/ask for a menu and having to watch a waitress dramatically plop in the table next to us and lay her head down on the table. Place was packed at 2 pm on a Monday afternoon. A lot of people order to go as the place is a bit small. Service is excellent , they are very friendly and seem to really want to excel. Food was just ok. In consideration if the price and the wait. I ordered stir fry , takoyaki, wings with fried rice , siomai - did anything stand out ? The staff are super friendly! I mean they go out of their way to make sure their dining experience and food is great. The spicy chicken is delicious deliciously crispy and very spicy. The sesame chicken was great too and I had enough leftover to make a full meal when I go home. I will come back to this hidden gem. This place was highly recommended by a friend and when we arrived a couple were leaving and raved about the food, we asked what they recommend, all was great but their favorite was the soup dumplings. The ambiance was nice, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. Our favorite was the spicy wonton with the chili oil, the pork soup dumplings and veggie dumplings. The octopus dumplings I didn't try but my BF loved it and the green onion pancake was also delicious. I didn't get a chance to take pics, I was hungry. Service was great. The food was okay. Sesame chicken was good. The fried rice had an overwhelming shrimp flavor but no actual shrimp. Didn't care for the pan fried pork buns. Wonton soup was okay. I may try them again in a few months. This was their soft open. read more

This was our first time trying Fortune Dumpling. We went on Christmas evening (our tradition is Chinese on Christmas) and they were pretty busy. They were super nice and our order was ready when we arrived. My family had orange chicken and crispy chicken with fried rice, which they all loved! We also had soup dumplings, BBQ pork buns, pan fried pork buns, wonton in chili oil, and spicy garlic edamame. The pork buns and dumplings didn't really have much flavor to me, and the wontons in chili oil I really had high hopes for, but they also lacked in flavor. I LOVED the spicy garlic sauce for the edamame! I'm hoping maybe it was just an off night for food because they were so busy. New favorite restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the fried rice (add bbq pork as option would be great). We have been back several times, the complimentary cucumber salad was a plus! The only thing I would recommend is any appetizers come out first before the main entrees but it's soft opening. Service and staff were excellent. read more

I've been here 3 times in the last week and a half, I think I have a problem. A good problem though, the food is amazing and service is even better. Wontons, dumplings and bao are fresh and hit the spot every time. The garlic green beans hit all the right garlic notes and the green beans themselves are cooked to perfection each time. I'm not sure what any of the negative reviews are about but this place is really good. Hospitality and customer service was great, staff was friendly and accommodating. The decor and ambiance is nice, although the floor is really slippery especially when it's rainy outside and water gets tracked in (I think that's what was causing the chairs to slide according to others complaints about the chairs.) Right away we were served a crushed cucumber salad and were told it was a little gift as a thank you for coming in. I hope they add it to the menu permanently after the grand opening because it was SO GOOD. It has a vinegar soy type sauce that reminds me of the dipping sauce at Din Tai Fung. We ordered: 1. Chili oil wontons - not impressed and wouldn't get them again 6/10 2. Pork soup wontons - pretty decent 8/10 3. Beef roll - SO GOOD 9/10 4. Honey walnut shrimp - SO GOOD 10/10 **They aren't drenched in sauce like you find at most places** They served us a complimentary dessert at the end that consisted of a banana with cherry sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles. Wasn't great but it was the thought that counts. I say give it a try and form your own opinion on it. After reading some of the negative reviews, I was reluctant, but glad I went and tried it for myself because I don't agree with the bad reviews.. the food is good! We went during their soft opening. Though you would expect complications during an initial opening, we did not encounter even one. Food was spot on, with flavors that are way above what we expected. The spicy fried chicken was amazing! The chicken was covered in Szechuan peppers, onions, ginger, etc., but be warned... It is really hot and spicy!!! The beef rolls were flavorful and the chicken fried rice was simple yet flavorful. Simon and Ting were friendly gracious and welcoming. We tried Fortune Dumpling House for the first time tonight and we were blown away by the food quality. The sesame chicken is some of the best I've ever had. The sauce is perfectly flavorful and the chicken is crispy. The steamed barbecue buns are preferable over the fried pork buns. The service was friendly, kind, and attentive. Holy cow!!! We found our favorite Chinese restaurant. Everything was fresh and fantastic. The Spicy Crispy Chicken was beautifully seasoned and SPICY. If you love spicy food you would love this dish. The Sesame Chicken was perfectly breaded and delicious. The Barbecue Pork buns and Taro buns out of the world! Best of all friendly, attentive waitstaff. Quick service even with a crowded restaurant. Wow, we loved our lunch at the dumpling house. I hope they continue to do well. The food was great, they got crowded quickly but they seemed to have enough staff to handle the noon rush. I have been dying to try this place and when my friend and I first stopped by it was packed with people waiting to be seated. It's a nice and cozy little spot. We went there for lunch which wasn't busy and sat down right away. All of the menu selections looked great and wanted to try everything but ended getting the wonton noodle soup, green onion pancake, siomai, and my friend got the special plate with fried pork and fried rice. The broth from the soup was tasty as were the wontons. And I loved the bok choy and egg noodles. The green onion pancake was nice and crispy with a sweet and savory dipping sauce. The siomai was delicious as was the homemade dipping sauce. The ride plate my friend ordered looked good and with a hearty portion of the fried pork and fried rice. They also served fried wontons with a sweet sauce. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. We enjoyed our lunch there and plan on returning! read more
