We celebrated my sister's birthday on Saturday night and it was a truly enjoyable experience! I made reservations for 7:15 on Resy. Our party of 3 arrived about 15 mins early and were greeted with smiles and friendliness. We were immediately taken to a round table near the middle of the floor. The decor was beautiful; wooden accents and traditional paper lighting throughout. Our waiter Jose arrived promptly. He was courteous and patient while we viewed the menu which was pretty extensive. For drinks, we ordered martini's with Lychee fruit which were outstanding! Not too strong or sweet.. perfectly balanced. For dinner, we started with the vegetable eggrolls. They are more like spring rolls but tasty. We also ordered the scallion pancakes. I didn't dislike the pancakes but they did lack a bit of flavor. A side of sweet and sour sauce accompanied them which helped a bit. For mains, the pan seared dumpling sampler, crispy ginger beef, spicy dried green beans and Yang fried rice. Everything was flavorful and shareable. And since it was my sister's bday, she received a complementary dessert which was three steamed buns with what I believe was a vanilla custard inside. Super good food, but super slow service. To start we ordered the Jade Margarita on the menu but it was soooo good. It was the perfect sweet, but it took so long to get it, literally like 15-20 min. We ordered the dumpling sampler to start. All but one were good, I didn't care for the cabbage one. For our entrees we got the general tsp chicken which was soooo good and had so much flavor. We also got chow mein with shrimp which was also very good. We tried to order another round of drinks half way through our meal, however it took so long we just asked for the check. I visited Fortune House with a coworker back in November while in town for a conference. He was chatted up a woman on his flight and he asked for suggestions in Dallas and she suggested Fortune House. So we grabbed our rental and headed over. Lots of restaurants and shops line Greenville avenue and it looked as if anyplace you went to would be a great meal. However, we were told the dumplings were awesome! It was a beautiful day and we decided to sit outside. The server was extremely friendly and welcoming and walked us through the menu. Unfortunately, they were out of a few items and that initially bummed us out as it was a Saturday afternoon and they were out of staple items already. However, we moved past this and ordered a few items. We ordered the Pan Fried Pork Buns (so friggin good!), Shrimp & Pork Dumplings (very tasty), and the Pork Xiao Long Bao (also very good). They were out of all of their chicken dumplings. We also ordered the Shanghai Baby Ribs which were cut into small pieces and were just okay. We also ordered their Fried Rice which was also very good. All dishes were enough to share and all were very good. The atmosphere was lively as a lot of young groups were sitting outside. A younger couple sat down next to us and we had a nice conversation with the local couple who began chatting us up as they overheard our convo and had some questions about our lines of work. On top of all this, the prices were very reasonable including the alcoholic beverages we both ordered. Would've appreciated the waiter letting us know beforehand that this would be an extra charge and not be confused when the bill came. The dumplings were decent but nothing to write home about. The walnut shrimp dish was good. The shrimp are colossal! It was served with your choice of fried rice or regular jasmine rice. It does have more sauce than I hoped. The garlic broccoli with the white sauce was the perfect veggie dish. My friend ordered the green beans. I hate green beans but these were surprisingly so good. It's served in a delicious garlicky/spicy sauce that's addicting. Service gradually decreased as the late dinner crowd dinned in. The food was fantastic, the service exemplary, and the atmosphere was conducive to talking with my spouse. Their hot and sour soup was very good and appeared to be freshly made. I've been to the one in Irving and this one is a different vibe completely! It's cute and hip and modern, whereas the Irving one is a little bit more classic and traditional. Still lacking in amount of seating so make sure you make a reservation for large parties or arrive earlier than you plan on eating. A downside in this area is that the parking is horrendous; an absolute nightmare. The parking lots fill up quickly and there's not much parallel parking available. The traffic is constant and heavy, so factor that into your trip here! The waitstaff is very efficient and friendly and the food came out quite fast! The pan fried pork buns were crispy and flavorful. The salt and pepper pork could use more pork and less batter, and the beef chow fun was a little more saucy than I'm used to--but everything was tasty. I was a bit sad they were out of Chinese broccoli but snow pea leaves were a delicious alternative, suggested by our waiter. Overall a good food experience! read more

Excited that we finally got to try this place. It's in a great location on lower Greenville and the restaurant is really big and beautiful. I had booked the reservation, at least a week in advance, so I would recommend getting your name down before just walking in. We started with the dumpling sampler and the vegetable spring rolls. The dumpling sampler was awesome, would order that again for sure. Our favorite was the vegetable and the pork dumplings. The vegetable spring rolls were just all right. For dinner, we split the house, fried rice and the sesame chicken and that was the perfect amount of food for two people. The sesame chicken was so flavorful and I'm already looking forward to eating it again sometime. I'd say it's a great date night spot or just a great spot to go out with a bunch of friends. Seriously, if you're into Asian cuisine this is TOP 5 and it's not five. For beverage I tried the lunar moon cocktail. It's $16 but it's HUGE, so definitely worth the price. If you're a light drinker like me one is all you'll need. For entrees we ordered the soup dumplings, blue crab rangoons, beef lo mein, spicy green beans & salted egg yolk prawns. The only dish I was disappointed in that we had to have comped were the prawns. If you've been to Bamboo House off of 75 you know they have a similar dish on their menu. I was expecting Fortune's to look and taste exactly like that. It didn't lol. They have a thick batter here that they coat their shrimp in, which takes away from the dish but also leaves it tasting flavorless. Also idk how they cook the salted egg yolk, but when you bite into it it's incredibly grainy and also tasteless vs creamy and umami. Needs work. Everything else was exquisite. Perfectly balanced in flavor and just enough portion wise for two to enjoy. All in all, I'm so happy this place was recommended to me and I don't hesitate to recommend this to anyone reading (if you're lucky to get Christian as your server you're in good hands). With everything we ordered the total was only $66. Name another restaurant in Dallas where you can order multiple items and walk out paying less than $100? OH OKAY! It's also the perfect place to dine in as you're just minutes from Deep Ellum.
