4.5 stars but I'm rounding up to 5. My bf and I tried this place for the first time a few days ago and we both liked it a lot. Definitely old school and hole in a wall kind of place. When I think of American food, this is what I imagined the food would be. We tried big boss burger, spicy chicken burger, chili cheese fries, cone-dipped ice cream, and zucchini fries. We liked everything except the zucchini fries because it didn't taste like zucchini at all to us. We loved how they had so many options from burgers, fries to fish & chips, toast, etc. The ice cream, milk shake, smoothies, root beer float, sundaes options are also extensive. I was in the mood for a Oreo/cookies n cream shake so I decided to come here. I thought since this place was known for their ice cream and shakes I'd try it out. I was a little disappointed after eating my Oreo freeze. The cookies and ice cream was good, but it just wasn't my style. The Oreo cookie inside the freeze was really dry and had a chalky feel to it. It would get my mouth a little dry after eating some pieces which is weird since its ice cream. I'd try this place again but not the Oreo freeze. read more

I came into this Foster Freeze location for the first time as I happen to be in Milpitas. I always go to the downtown San Jose location and love their service I saw an ad stating buy one get one free hot chocolate sundae. When I ordered this cashier looked at me and said no. No explanation and he was rude about it I asked for manager and he was quick to say no manager was available. He said that he was gonna call the manager and the manager was coming over to the store I've been waiting for 30 minutes and still no manager. This place is nothing fancy but they make one of the best burgers in town! I think "nothing fancy" is the proper description of a good joint to get a good greasy burger, although the burgers here are not all that greasy either. I just went here today. I had a dipped cone. The girl served us our cones almost immediately, and she gave us plenty of napkins which was pleasing. The cone wasn't the best in the world I've ever had but It was still pretty good. Almost all the food on the menu is reasonably priced. There are places to sit and all the benches seemed to be clean. 100% the friendliest staff you'll ever encounter. Orders always come out right and they'll go over where they put everything in the bags so you know how to unpack. Food is great and they have SO many options. Your best bet is a burger and fries with a shake. My family has been going to Fosters since long before I was born and we don't plan to stop anytime soon. Yes, the BEST Foster Freeze in the Bay Area. I have been going to this place for years, long before the Great Mall. And, because of it, I have tried other Foster Freezes in the area, but they do not compare to this one in Milpitas. If you're heading to the Great Mall or find yourself near this place, you should at least try one of their shakes or malts. Nice outdoor seating and a classic menu of burgers, hotdogs and fries. So skip the fast food places and the Great Mall eateries, just drive down Main Street a couple miles and try this place. You won't be disappointed! read more

So I just ordered some fries and a shake but they were going to make me wait after two big orders that were going to take a while. I told the manager I needed to go since I had an appointment in Livermore. So eventually I asked if they had at least made my shake but they hadn't so at that point I just wanted to get my money back and go. The manager was difficult and refused to give me my money back in cash even though I paid with a debit card. He demanded I give him my debit card which I had already put back in my car for safety and also because there wasn't going to be a need for it anymore after that and there shouldn't be a need for that. I also needed to sit down since my feet and knee were already really swollen from excessive standing the last two weeks in my two new jobs. So I didn't want to keep going back and forth and make my feet and knee worse. So the manager didn't want to give me my money back but at the same time he didn't want to "take another minute to finish making my order" lol and even said no he wasn't going to "give me" another minute" (lol what?) So yeah they make good fries but they could work on doing things a bit more efficiently and not make people have such long waits for their food and/or drinks and then yell at customers for their own inability to cook at a more reasonable speed... to avoid further complications. read more

If your craving fast junk food this is the place to go. Located right next to an Oil/Auto station. At a quick glance it appears to be a drive through, but its actually not. You can order inside or out, they have outdoor and indoor seating. The parking lot is small, but I always manage to find parking to order to-go. I think they have the best fried zucchini, they're sticks not like the round medallions they have at Carls. I especially like their french fries, crinkle style~! :)) And they have Pepsi! most places don't have it. And It looks like they updated their window display the last time I visited. I totally dig Foster's Freeze! Came here with my son for ice cream and got hooked on their "Twister's"...think Dairy Queen Blizzards. Now, mind you I'm normally a gelato kind of girl, however the Twister is sooooooo good made with chocolate ice cream with whatever candy or cookie dough mixed in. And so good for you too! Tried a burger here last time and it was pretty good. Affordable and a great place to take the kiddies on a hot day to cool off with a cone, sundae, or twister! read more

Wow! What a disappointment. The food here has gone way down. And the prices have gone way up. The lettuce on the burger was awful, the dressing sauce was terrible. The burrito tasted funny. And the Coke tasted awful...how do you do bad Coke?The only thing that looked decent was the fries, but I didn't order any. The menu was even confusing. Because everything was handwritten. OCCASION: I was hanging out with a friend on a very hot summer day and he wanted to try out this place because he found it on Yelp. ENVIRONMENT: Located in a very empty and ghetto street. You park your car close and it is basically a drive-in (Like the Falafel's Drive In). The restaurant is outside and you tell them your order and sit outside on the very limited number of tables. I came there on a Sunday evening and it was extremely crowded. Place is dirty and not very clean. We parked next to the dumpster. There was also a line but the line went by fast. ICE CREAM: Awesome! I got one of the cheaper stuff on the menu but it was extremely delicious! I highly recommend! Come here for cheap ice cream and frozen yogurt! There is a lot of stuff to choose from the menu! PRICE: Super cheap! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Fast and to the point. Nothing special. OVERALL: No place to sit down if its crowded on a Sunday evening. One of the better burgers in Milpitas. Especially if you stack the cards by ordering frys and a shake. I love the old style greesy cheeseburger that is just slighly too large. I had the most heavenly chocolate malt here a few months ago which was as good as or better than the ones from the far past. So I was looking forward to trying another one, strawberry this time, and was surprised it tasted blah and apparently had no malt in it, and which had cost $5 for a smallish medium size. So the point is, I think, taste or check out your purchase before you drive away with it. I try not to come here so much and make it a treat (like maybe a few times a year!) because it's THAT decadent and makes me feel shitty after.
