We usually aren't concerned about the service pace as it was nice to enjoy the weather and chat but my tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich was cold when it arrived. Both were tasty, though. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich which was the right temperature and the fries were crisp and warm so it sounds like a kitchen timing issue? Either way, we will certainly be back. read more

We were here tonight for a birthday party and the waiter was leaving a very bad impression. It turns out he walked in and quit mid-shift with several other staff out. The manager, Jacob, came out and took care of everyone. He was very professional and was concerned with everyone having a great time! I'm confused about the great reviews for this place. We were not impressed with the food or service. Arrived for Sunday brunch excited to try it out, but sadly we had to wait about 45 minutes for our food to come out and it was mediocre at best. I had ordered the luckenbach chicken sandwich that is supposed to come with grilled pineapple and cheese. The cheese and pineapple was about the size of a quarter and my chicken was barely warm, so don't expect anything with your sandwich besides the meat and bread. Service was so slow, and we honestly just got tired of asking for basics (water, app plates, etc). We were just ready to leave at that point. Don't plan on going back at this point. read more

Just tried Frio last night, and we loved it! They have tasty specialty cocktails, and a full bar if those don't interest you. We had the quail bites with cheese grits as an appetizer, and it was amazing! Dinner my hubby had the mahi mahi, and I had the bourbon pecan crusted chicken, and both were excellent. Good portion sizes, with outstanding flavors! The gravy/sauce on the bourbon chicken was unique and worked perfectly with the crust. Finally decided to stop in and try their food. Wasn't busy, but waitstaff assignment for tables seemed confusing and uncoordinated...even to the staff!!! I ordered a simple mixed green salad with grilled chicken. They actually don't have one. HUH? Really cute property with great outdoor seating. The weather has been nice, so we sat out for dinner and the live show in the courtyard. Our very attentive server, Justice, made sure our customer service experience was fantastic and the food quality was above average. Overall, it was a great experience for our first visit. We went for early valentines dinner and were not let down. We started with the fried mac and cheese which was scrumptious, then the wife had the pecan crusted chicken and I had the shrimp and grits. Both were excellent. My daughter had the Fish tacos also very good. The waiter was extremely courteous and friendly, the executive chef came to the table and answered questions and recommended items for us. The food all came out quick even with a fairly large crowd. So many mixed reviews I was nervous, but we went on saturday at 6p and they did everything right. Still had some happy hour beers (on a saturday!), amazing potato soup with bacon and cheese, bacon-wrapped shrimp for appetizer came out sizzling hot, burger loaded with onion strings and fried egg. Extremely upset after visiting The Frio Grill. Sunday afternoon, beautiful weather. We decided to try this place for the outdoor seating. We were told it would be a 5 minute wait, hostess extremely polite. We decided to order two beers while waiting for our table, which was ready in under 5 minutes. We were sat at a picnic table outside, several tables were full. We understand they were busy, however we were NEVER attended to. We waited over 20 minutes . Finished our beer, watched 3 THREE other families get seated and attended to instantly. Watched not one but two waitresses just pass us by as if we were invisible. My boyfriend and I were so upset and offended. Plain offended but decided to just let the hostess know what happened and just left. We will never return. The hostess offered to sit us in another section but there was no excuse for being ignored. We are not one to make a scene or get angry so we simply just left. Offended is the only word I can find. Disgusted. Will never return or recommend. read more

So I came in over the weekend my family and I was seated at a table that was a little to small for the amount of people we had but our server ask us would we like to move after getting our drink. We had fried Mac which was amazing but I wish it came with more then three. I had high hopes for this place and finally went for dinner. Was a bit concerned when we walked in and there was only 1 couple in the restaurant but we gave it a shot anyway. Out table had syrup on it from breakfast/brunch and there was sausage on the floor most likely from the same meal. Appetizer was good. Had a burger that was good, wife had soup and salad and she liked the salad but couldn't eat the baked potato soup as it was unusually sweet and she didn't care for it. Ran out of tea while eating appetizer but didn't get a refill until after our meal was delivered, even though someone had asked what I was having long before I got my meal but they must've been overwhelmed by the 4 other tables that they and the other two servers could not refill our drinks. At the end of the meal when we asked for the check we were apologized to and told that they were "short staffed". It's frightening to think what it would be like if the restaurant was anywhere close to full. The silverware was greasy. A couple at another table ordered a bottle of wine and from two tables away you could see the cloudy smudges on the wine glasses when they brought them out. I simply do not understand how difficult it is to maintain a clean restaurant, dishes and silverware much less keep up with customers drinks. We will not be coming back. read more

Nice lightly smoked brisket with a savory bbq sauce and melted cheese made for a filling and tasty meal. The onion rings were lightly battered and had a nice flavor. My wife had the ultimate BLT with fries. She said as big as the sandwich was, it was light. She loved the combination of a traditional BLT with fresh avocado slices. My fiance and I browsed the menu online and chose to come here because of the supposed lunch menu. Well we get there and were not given any lunch menu, and the menu we were given was missing some of the things we had seen online. My fiancee was not able to order what he had planned on ordering. I had planned on the bourbon pecan chicken and thankfully this was still on the menu. He ordered just a basic caesar salad with chicken. Fiance's caesar came out unchopped, wish the waiter would have mentioned it came that way so that he could have requested it chopped in the kitchen instead of having to do all the work himself. My bourbon pecan chicken was ok, it was nicely cooked but I just wasn't a fan of the flavor. The mashed potatoes it came with were good. I was also bitter about the fact that online it said this dish came with both garlic bread and your choice of a side....well I got neither. I also hope you don't want any salt, pepper, ketchup, etc. because none of this was on the table. Wasn't a peaceful or relaxing meal whatsoever because parents kept yelling over us at their kids to behave, get out of the road, etc. Lastly, and because of this I will NOT return, the prices we were charged were HIGHER than the prices listed on the menu we were given. So, CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS if you do not want to be charged more than what the menu states. To me that is a very shady thing for a restaurant to do. The Frio Grill is my FAVORITE restaurant. Hands down. I will always go here over anywhere else. Such a cute place to take pictures, really good vibe, clean restrooms, very nice servers. I always get the pecan bourbon chicken it's literally the best thing on the menu. All of the desserts are great I've had them all, the queso compuesto is awesome too. Fun place to go on Fridays to listen to the live music! Sometimes we sit there from 6 until closing time just listening to music and enjoying the place. I love the Frio Grill 10/10 read more
