Thick cuts, super fresh, and none of that fishy leftover-trim vibe. The sushi rice underneath was really good too -- not overly sweet or sour, just balanced. The other dish we ordered was the Sashimi Lunch, and again, super generous portion with way more variety than I expected. No shortcuts, no skimping. It also comes with miso soup and salad, both clean and tasty. We added hot tea, which hit the spot on a colder day. That feeling of "randomly picking a place and accidentally finding a great spot" is honestly unmatched They also offer a $79 omakase, plus a more premium $135 one (reservation required). A nice feature is that you can upgrade to a combo for an extra $10, which lets you choose between California rolls or tempura. The food was decent, though we found both dishes to be a bit on the salty and greasy side. One thing to note is that unlike most Japanese restaurants that provide complimentary hot tea, they charge $3.50 per person here for green tea. The service was okay--the servers weren't particularly warm or friendly, but they were attentive enough and came over whenever we needed something.
