Came here for hot pot on a cold cold day. All the other hot pot places were 2 hours wait. This was our last resort. They seated us downstairs which was different from upstairs. The downstairs were decorated with Hello kitty which was super cute! The walls were decorated only. The food were not so don't get confused with that. So basically you choose a soup base and a favorite item (beef, caviar ball, noodles or lamb). All the other foods are upstairs in a small fridge that you have to personally get yourself. Fine.. I was okay with that even though we have stairs to climb. What I find that was a bit wasteful was that they use bamboo sticks for the items. They have a pretty good lunch special. For $5.95 you can get a big bowl of spicy lamb or beef soup, or a noodle bowl. I opted for the spicy beef soup - mild spice. It was pretty good, quite a large bowl and they give you quite a lot of variety of veggies, glass noodles, quail eggs, and beef. Also, the BBQ individual skewers are half off. Their honey bbq wings and beef shortribs are really delicious. The bacon on fried bread was interesting and quite tasty. The plain beef had a lot of pepper on it, but still not bad. We also came here one night for all you can eat hot pot. At $21.99 per person it's pretty cheap, but also you get what you pay for. It's interesting that they put everything on skewers (seems like a waste of skewers) but you can go up and get your own, and for the meats you have to order. Service was slow for the meats but I was decently happy with the selection of skewers i could get myself. I do with there was peanut sauce, because that would round out the whole hot pot experience. The food was nice but the service was really bad. The waitress spilled water on my friend's phone without apologizing. She also dropped a skewer onto the table while serving our food and just picked it up thinking we didn't see her. We wouldn't have mind if she just had said sorry. We didn't even finish our food when the waitress rushed over and asked us pretentiously if we were the table that asked for the check or the table behind us. Her acting was fake because the table behind us just got their food so neither of us had asked her. If you needed us to leave you could've just said so. We left a tip of 14% because we did not enjoy their service. The waitress had to make herself known by telling us that the tip wasn't enough and watched us change it to 18% before we left. This was the only time she was attentive to our table. I like how they called it "suggested gratitude" when gratification from your customer is forced. After being convinced to eat there together, I agree with the other reviewers regarding the lack of vegetables in the BBQ menu. They might argue that in China, BBQ skewers are mostly meat based. However, as they serve bacon wrapped food, it automatically disqualifies them as a truly Chinese BBQ restaurant. Bacon as we know it is part of the Chinese cuisine as much as California roll is to Japanese cuisine. Had AYCE for 2 visits. First visit was great and the service was excellent. I would've rated it at a 4. Although, there is nothing special about the hotpot broths or skewers, the options were great. I've tried both the bbq items and the hotpot at Funny BBQ so my review is based on both experiences. I do recommend you get the unlimited hotpot. You can choose the ayce option and you'll be satisfied with eating as many pre skewered items as you can. The soup broths are also pretty flavorful. Bonus to a do it yourself sauce bar too. The bbq skewers in my opinion were just okay. The skewers were cooked but I did not get an essence of BBQ flavor so that was a disappointment. I don't recommend you getting all you can eat with the bbq skewers though because the smoky bbq flavor is not up to par. I was full after eating about $18 a la carte worth of skewer items. The bacon wrapped with enoki mushrooms was the best one. All the other meats were just "okay" and I think it has to do with the lack of smoke bbq flavor in the skewers. Came here for hot pot for a friend's birthday. We had reservation and they gave us the only room located in the basement in which we can also karaoke. Downstairs was all Hello Kitty theme. They give you paper menus for you to check off what items you want and you can ask for a new menu as you finish off your items. My group probably ordered 8-9 times and even though we ordered the squid in every order we didn't actually get squid until the 5th order. We didn't notice at first because they give you everything you order on a big plate and it's hard to tell what's what. We only realized we didn't get squid until we started asking each other what our favorites and least favorites were. It is AYCE so we just kept trying to order the squid hoping to get it. Our favorites were the lamb and beef and the pork short ribs. The service was very mediocre, it isn't a very large place but like most places in Chinatown, service isn't why you're coming there. The decor in the main room (where I was sat) inside was nice, dunno if it had to do with Chinese new year, all red with dragons and lanterns hanging, but I liked it.
