Visiting Denton and needed a quick lunch, so I decided to try Fuzzy's. Great choice! It's very casual, fast food, kinda fun and funky. It's not a fancy restaurant. The choices are pretty straight forward. I had a crunchy ground beef taco and a soft chicken fajita meat taco. Both were excellent. I was surprised at how good the crunchy taco was. It was easily the best taco shell I've ever had. I can only guess that they make them there fresh. The chicken taco was really good with some great seasonings that you don't find at fast food places. There was fresh cilantro on the tacos, a nice white cheese, and some seasonings that I can't place but definitely aren't taco bell. I will definitely go back here again. $2 for a taco of this quality is a bargain. There are many more menu options to explore. I think I'll have a fish taco before I leave town. read more

The food here was delectable as the meat from my taco was seasoned to perfection. The chips were cronchy but not brittle, unlike my cold step mother. The margaritas were sweet and comparable to the ambrosia of the Gods. This weird witch lady was staring at me though, and the manager told me she would wear herself out eventually. I came to this location today and my fish was cold, and tough to chew. I had this same experience a month ago, but I thought it was due to the fact I came 30 minutes before closing that time. However, a month later on a Thursday afternoon (today) my fish was cold again and hard to chew again. I thought if I came earlier during their hours of operation this experience wouldn't repeat itself. I requested a refund today to a worker at the register as I explained to him my food was cold. He got the manager for me stating that he is unable to do the refunds, but the manger can, and that he will explain to her what happened. When the manager (young lady) came to the front register she didn't seem to care, neither ask or apologize about my experience- she just handed me the receipt. I came into this establishment for a quick bite to eat last Friday prior to seeing a show at Dan's Silverleaf. I honestly wasn't expecting much but for the price my dinner was decent. I ordered two grilled fish tacos with black beans and latin style potatoes on the side. Our food arrived promptly. The potatoes were pretty unremarkable and I likely wouldn't order them again. The beans were flavorful and enjoyable.My tacos were tasty. The fish was tender and flavorful. I was initially skeptical of feta cheese instead of cotija but it was definitely tasty. Fuzzy's is definitely one of my favorite casual places around Denton. The tacos are really good, especially the shredded, garlic beef tacos and the fish tacos. And all of the tacos are made with corn tortillas (yay!). Everything is very light, which is nice because you can eat Mexican food and not feel like you need lipo afterwards. A lot of people also go for the very cheap margaritas and beer. For a 16 oz. margarita it's only $2.50! And the beers are priced like happy hour all day long. The reason why I didn't give Fuzzy's 5 stars is because the salsa and queso are not so great. Neither are the rice and beans. The salsa is a little too marinara-y for my tastes and on occasion the queso has tasted more like cheese-flavored water than actual cheese. read more

This is my second time at Fuzzy's, but first time at this location. This is the place to visit for affordable and nice size portioned meals. The cashier and cooks were nice and service was fast. I ordered a shredded chicken quesadilla and dined in with friends. The plate was still on the tray. As I prepared to dive in and eat, my food tumbled on the floor! I was worried that I had to pay for another meal, but after I told the cooks what happened without hesitation they prepared me another chicken quesadilla! My bf and I went to Fuzzy's to eat before a show he was playing at Dan's Silverleaf. I walked in and it smelled awfully good in there. My mouth instantly watered! I liked the colorful decor, too. I was a bit overwhelmed with the choices, and finally settled on a special ground beef and chicken taco, with black beans and mix-mex fried rice. I thought the ground beef, while tasty, was a bit too greasy for my taste. I asked them to remove the feta, because the Mexican in me just cannot justify putting that in a taco, no matter how good others think it might be. The garlic sauce was unnecessary, since the beef has enough seasoning on its own. If anything, it just made my taco soggier. The chicken was also pretty tasty by itself. I liked that this one wasn't as soggy as the other taco. I think this place is rather forgettable as far as the food is concerned. I prefer my tacos a little less California-style and more Mexico-style. I also don't really care for overstuffed tacos on a small corn tortilla. I didn't care for the greasy rice too much. The black beans and queso were decent, but I think that overall, Fuzzy's needs to realize that when it comes to tacos, less is more. read more

I'm just reviewing to give them a little bump up on the stars, because they should definitely be a 4+ star establishment. Love the grilled shrimp tacos loaded with their butt burnin' hot sauce and I could drink the queso with a straw. Everything's super fresh with a nice combination of flavors. Beers are cheap with some decent options on tap. They do have margs, but they're wine or beer based, so beware of headaches. They can get pretty packed at peak times, but there's quite a bit of seating and they do have two patios if the weather's right. They're opened late and are a nice walk from the Denton square, Dan's Silverleaf, OSDH&CP, Hickory Street Lounge, and many other local bars if you plan to make a night of it. My ONLY random complaint is that most of the time it seems like the food comes out cold, despite them grilling it up right in front of you. I think it's because the only warm thing in the burrito is the meat, so all the veggies and such cool it down quickly. But you'll get over it once you taste it. I've had and quite enjoy their burritos (grilled shrimp), tacos (2 grilled shrimp + chips & queso is perfect), big salads (grilled/tempura shrimp, shredded chicken), and grilled sammies (spicy pork). The garlic beef is delicious but can get on the chewy side. Hint: you can order the garlic sauce that comes on the tacos on the side for dipping or to add to any other menu items. After asking the cashier what she recommended was good, I ordered the pork nachos, shredded beef taco, and shrimp taco.... Overall it wasn't bad, but I just don't get why people think the food is so much better than any other Tex-Mex/Taco place. I mean it's pretty cool how they use ricotta cheese on everything, but nothing out of this world. If I want a decent taco I'm going to have to stick with the hole in the wall taco stands.... Went with the taco plate to get the bang for my buck. Ordered the "special ground beef" with sides of "latin fried potatoes" and borracho beans. SGB just means has some kick to it in regards to seasonings and not sure what is latin about the potatoes. But, who cares because everything was great. The tacos were piled high with fixings (I suggest getting the soft tortillas so more can be crammed into your taco). The beef was a lesser version of picadillo but tasty nonetheless. The potatoes also had some flavor...prep is essentially roasted new potatoes style. The beans were good enough as a stand alone side. The vibe was relaxed. You order and then pick up your food when called. TVs were on but you can't hear anything over the crowd noise. I stumbled across Fuzzy's when my original destination nearby was closed. Fuzzy tacos. What a funny name! Isn't this place kinda close to Hot Box? So on my journey for a taco, I stopped here for one. Denton does not have much of a taco selection as Austin where I've been for the past few years. The best part about Fuzzy's is the comfortable hangout feel it emits. Perhaps if I were still in college, I'd throw back a few brews with friends and eat some tacos. The patio seating is also nice. On a day of good weather, it would be most excellent. The only tacos I had were the fish tacos(fried). I saw the prices and thought, "wow, cheap prices!" but I was sorely disappointed in the size of the taco. If want my fuzzy taco to be juicy and full of meat. Haha. But the tacos are those mini tacos, so don't fool me twice. Also the amount of fish was maybe a couple of McChicken nugget sizes. Wtf, I thought. Most egregious. That's fine though, but goddamnit the taco was flavorless. They had a bottle if sauce on the table, so I put a generous amount before it settled with a good taste. Looking for a quick bite to eat on a very hot summer day last week when I was in Denton for summer classes. I came across Fuzzy's and liked the casual feel. Most tacos are $2 or you can get a taco plate that comes with sides. I ordered the grilled shrimp taco and a grilled veggie taco. I was NOT a fan of the crispy taco shell as it is exactly the same quality as Taco Bell. WTH????? I just wasn't expecting that at all. But the actual grilled shrimp with lettuce, cilantro and feta was very tasty. Next up was the grilled veggie taco that was served on an uninspired cold corn tortilla. To make matters worse there was nothing grilled about it. The "grilled veggies" was basically chopped lettuce, shredded cheese, feta, cilantro, diced tomatoes, and I kid you not 3 black bean kernels. Place was packed, but of course it will be on a Friday night with all the drunkards. Tis was my first visit. Heard all the rave about this place and I can only say that I was underwhelmed. It could be that I just made the wrong choice. I got a Seasoned Beef Burrito with a large drink came to $8.10 Burrito $5.49 Drink $1.99 Food came out quick, the burrito was Chipotle (DISLIKE) sized. My beef was seasoned alright with a pound of salt. It was edible and I was hungry; another negatory thing was that my burrito fell right apart. I hate getting messy, I chop down trees for napkins when I eat fried chicken. My partners in crime got Shredded Beef each and another got two Crawfish tacos which looked delicious. 3 of us said meh while the taco guy said awesome. Next time I will have to try a taco probably, thats why the place is called Fuzzy's Taco Shop and not Burrito Shop. On a good note this place has a nice selection of beer on tap, probably better then most bars I have seen. Blah. I've tried to like Fuzzy's...multiple times! Maybe I just always order the wrong thing. I had their chicken salad one time and something just seemed very off. Like the chicken wasn't cooked quite right. I brushed this off seeing as they hadn't been open very long at that point. The next time I went and had the fish tacos. UCK! The fish seemed like it was definitely not fresh. However I tried a bite of tamale off of my friends plate and it was pretty tasty. The tacos here are pretty good except for the shredded beef... almost broke a tooth trying to eat it! The queso also isn't that good. It doesn't have much flavor and the consistency reminds me of snot. All of the food is over priced but I come here for the margaritas to be honest. My first time there and I was curious. These Taco's are now my favorite tacos. While they have several options, I went with their ground beef in special sauce. It was a great choice. My soft taco was on soft corn shell which is my favorite. This included Feta Cheese which I wasn't quite sure about, but I loved the twist it added. The Burrito had a great mix. Cheese, lettuce, tomato, ground beef, garlic sauce, guacamole. Personally, I thought this burrito was far better then those at FreeBirds! Lots of menu options, and more reasons to go back. Prices were reasonable. Slightly more then fast food, but less then a mexican restaraunt. Also, they are biker friendly, which always is a plus. read more

I was born and raised in the Tex-Mex capital aka San Antonio. I know that Fuzzy's isn't really aiming for Tex-Mex or at least I hope not, but I was still disappointed with their food. I got the beef tacos which were expensive and not memorable. My friend got chips and queso, which she raves about. I got the nachos. I love nachos, and I was so disappointed. They essentially served me my friend's queso but instead of it coming in a bowl they poured it on my chips for me. That's it. I paid extra so they could pour the queso cheese on my "nachos" for me. There is nothing bad that I can say about Fuzzy's! I have had most everything on their menu and I can't complain about any of it. The service is consistently fine and their portions are awesome. My favorite thing on the menu is the Tempura Fish Tacos (although all their tacos are amazing.) The addition of feta cheese and garlic sauce on the tacos is to die for!! Additionally, they have this decadent, clog your arteries queso that is pure magic. Pour that over some pork nachos and you'll think you died and went to Tex-Mex heaven!! read more

Third visit to Fuzzy's in the past year and the food quality has greatly declined. I used to Love Fuzzy's and tried to eat there at least once on every visit into Denton. As I always do, I ordered two soft shell brisket tacos, cilantro rice and seasoned fried potatoes. Unfortunately, this time the brisket was very watery and quite flavorless, the rice was just plane white rice with a pinch of flavor salt sprinkled on the top (not cooked in seasoning) and the potatoes were undercooked and flavorless as well. I thought the food taste just like like the food from Salsarita's Fresh Cantina, so perhaps they purchase the brisket and rice from the same vendor. Everyone in our party of six commented on the decline in food quality this visit to Fuzzy's. Anyway, it is a shame that one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Denton has declined. I would not recommend Fuzzy's Tacos after this last visit. read more
