Cuisine: 6 Service: 6 Decor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 6 Disclaimer: This review has been sitting in my drafts for many years, so take it for what it's worth. I was looking forward to finally trying this restaurant, but honestly it didn't live up to expectations. Not that it was bad, just not all that memorable, which should never be the case when you pay the type of prices these meals cost. The only dishes that really stood out was the Smoked Eel Velouté. The Siberian Sturgeon Caviar and Seared Sullivan County Foie Gras were excellent, but can you really go that wrong with these incredible ingredients? Most of the other dishes were decent, but nothing I will remember in a few weeks. Service was fine but felt a bit cold, as does the space. Honestly, I was never really comfortable the whole time I was there. Everything was just not bad, but that's not what I was looking for.

Perfect place for special occasions. Location: Street level of Grace building across from Bryant Park. Ambience: high ceilings, spacious, simple elegance. Separate round bar area in front. Main dining room separated by architectural elements. Definitely 2 Michelin Stars decor vibe. Most of the crowd were either groups of business men in suits for business dinner or couples, likely for special occasions. Service: Attentive, team service. Food: Alsace-French food. Alsacian tartes are a specialty. We got mushroom with added truffles ($85 add on), Crispy thin crust and earthy mushrooms. Tasty but not sure the truffle added that much to the flavors in this case. Smoked sturgeon tarte with caviar was stellar, such a delicate flavor. The foie terrine was highest quality and so creamy and the accompaniments were the perfect pairing. For entree, we had duck and squab. The duck was good sized in portion, juicy and exceptional flavor. For me, the squab was just ok. I like my squab with a crispier skin and more of the fat rendered. The trade is the meat is very tender and juicy inside. Dessert: delicate and tasty overall. Not overly sweet. We had 3 and they were all excellent. The chocolate soufflé Tarte was beautiful as well with signature crane design on top. I enjoyed the meal but nothing I crave daily, so this is probably going to be a special occasions kind of place for me (price point and time commitment). Definitely recommend for business dinner or special occasions.

Came for an anniversary dinner and was absolutely blown away. Every team member ensured every detail of our night was absolutely perfect. Everything we ate was to die for, from the tasting menu items to the amuse bouche. Months later we are still reminiscing over a little white chocolate cube filled with passionfruit that started off our journey at Gabriel Kreuther. The sommelier made sure we could find a bottle that could complement our different meals that was within our budget. Not a dull moment during this experience, definitely a splurge but beyond worth it.

    Ambience was gorgeous.

This was a fantastic luxurious dining experience. The service was exquisitely kind. This was my first night out solo dining and the staff here made the experience so comfortable, even though most other customers were couples. The food was amazing with every bite just as delicate as the one before. The food was plated with precision, deserving of the Michelin stars.

Went to Gabriel to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we absolutely loved it! Getting a reservation for a reasonable time on a Friday was surprisingly easy -- a rare win for a Michelin-starred spot. What really stood out to me was the flexibility of the menu. There were options for different dining styles and price points, which I wish more fine dining restaurants would offer. Whether you're going all-in or keeping it a bit more low-key, there's something for everyone. The space itself is beautiful, and the staff struck the perfect balance of kind, funny, and attentive. They made the night feel special without being overly formal. We chose the blind chef's tasting menu, and while it was a lot of food for me, everything was absolutely delicious. Highlights included the La Belle Foie Gras Terrine, Citrus-Cured Long Island Fluke Crudo, Sturgeon & Sauerkraut Tart, Squid Ink Orecchiette, Red Wine Marinated Golden Bass and Hay-Smoked, Two-Week Aged Hudson Valley Duck Breast -- each dish more memorable than the last. And yes, A LOT of food. We paired our meal with cocktails (all hits, no misses), and the desserts were truly out of this world. If you go, do not skip the chocolate -- you'll thank yourself later. All in all, we had a fantastic time. It was the perfect place for a celebration, and I'd return in a heartbeat.

I had been looking forward to trying Gabriel Kreuther, and while there were definitely some great moments, the overall experience felt a bit underwhelming given the hype and price. We started off with bread that was soft and garlicky almost like a brioche which I really liked. It came with this green spread that had a sour cream or mayo flavor (still not sure exactly what it was), but it was actually really tasty. Then came the amuse-bouche, which included eggplant puffs--crispy on the outside, flavorful inside. There was also a mini beef tartare sandwich, which wasn't really my thing, and oysters, which were good but nothing super memorable. For the first course, I ordered the foie gras, which sadly just didn't hit. I've definitely had better this one came with a jelly-like side that just felt like fancy Jell-O, and the brioche bread it came with wasn't as buttery or soft as I prefer. The person I was with got the tuna, though, and I tried a bite it was flavorful, soft, and way better than my dish. Later they brought out warm sourdough rolls with honey-butter, and the bread was steaming hot so the butter melted perfectly honestly one of the highlights. For my main, I had the sea bass, and it was okay. Not bad, just not amazing. It came topped with relish, peppers, and pickles, which I personally didn't love it felt like they clashed with the delicate fish so I picked them off. The sauce was fine but kind of overwhelmed the fish, and I wish it had been served on the side. For the price, it just didn't wow me. Overall, the restaurant had some great components (the bread and butter combo, and the tuna), but for the cost, I expected more consistency and flavor across the board. It's a beautiful spot and the service is polished, but I probably wouldn't rush back.

(if only Yelp would let us give more!) Dining at the Chef's Table at Gabriel Kreuther isn't just a meal, it's a transcendent experience. From the moment we sat down, we were transported into a culinary journey where time seemed to stand still. What started at 7:15 PM gently unfolded until 10:45 PM, yet it felt like only moments had passed. That's the magic of this place. The evening began with the Chef himself graciously sharing his life story--a personal and rare moment of connection that set the tone for what was to come. Each course, and there were many (so many!), was a masterpiece. Visually stunning, technically perfect, and layered with intense, unforgettable flavors in every bite. It was almost too much to eat, but every morsel was too special to waste. What truly elevates this above even the most elite tasting experiences is the team of chefs--each of whom took time to walk us through the ingredients, techniques, and inspiration behind every dish. Their passion was palpable, their hospitality unmatched. Sitting at the Chef's Table is dinner and a show--but not in the traditional sense. It's an immersive, intimate glimpse into the soul of a kitchen in motion, orchestrated with precision and grace. Watching the culinary story unfold before us, we felt more like privileged guests than diners. Gabriel Kreuther's Chef's Table is where artistry, storytelling, and world-class cuisine converge. If I could give this infinity stars, I would.

Gabriel Kreuther, a 2 Michelin star restaurant, delivers an exceptional meal and service in such a convenient location across from Bryant park. Reservations are quite easy to book across a range of times and parties. The dining room is quite large with ample space between tables and wasn't noisy at all. I did find the plush booth seat to be quite far back though in terms of leaning back. The staff were immediately attentive, warm and engaging and they operated like a well-choreographed team. For dinner options, you can select a 3- or 4- course meal or chef's tasting menu (though I assume smaller portions) with menu available online. Two wine pairing options are also available in addition to a book of drink (wine) options. I opted for the chef's tasting menu - unfortunately I lost track/didn't keep down details of every dish and I wasn't given a menu copy. The highlights were the duck, sturgeon caviar tart, Long Island fluke. The foie gras was good and had an interesting presentation, like something out of the MoMA. The duck was excellently cooked with a lot of flavor and the caviar tart had just strong, powerful bites. Overall though I found the course to be well-polished but little to stand out. The service was fantastic and wine pairing complimented each dish well. I think it's a good value for the dishes and especially for a two-Michelin star restaurant. The tasting menu had a solid baseline but not a high ceiling with the best dishes, for instance comparing to the langoustine at Aska or tuna/salmon at Le Bernardin, having that "knockout" dish for me but still an excellent meal!

This place l've been dying to try to eat for over a year since I discovered it on social media. It also took me a mini Ute to write this review as I forgot I had the photos with busy life. I was not disappointed a bit. In fact this was probably one of the best meals l've ever had. And all I do is travel and eat at the best restaurants in the world, and this is definitely in my top 5 restaurants I love! Every single dish I had just blew my mind, jaw dropping and just wow. Service was amazing as expected. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Decor was modern and beautiful. Didn't feel pretentious at all. Just soothing. Over all, can't wait to come back!

This week, I had the pleasure of dining at Gabriel Kreuther to celebrate my birthday, and from the moment we arrived, the service was on point--attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. Everyone, from reception to our servers, congratulated us, and we even received a personally signed card from the chef, which made the night extra special. We opted for their 4-course prix fixe menu. Since our selected wine wasn't ready, we were offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to start. Throughout the meal, amuse-bouches between courses added delightful surprises, making the experience even more exciting. First course * La Belle Foie Gras Terrine - delicious start, paired with pistachio, wild rice streusel, and marble brioche. The foie gras was smooth and rich. * Cashew & Wild Mushroom Pâté with Ossetra Caviar - one of my favorites! The earthy mushroom flavors paired beautifully with the salty caviar. Mid course * Sturgeon & Sauerkraut Tart - a GK's signature dish, and I see why! The imperial kaluga caviar and applewood smoke took it to another level. Every bite was incredible. * Gewürztraminer Poached Sullivan County Foie Gras - served with quince consommé, artichoke, and ginger froth, and it had a perfect balance of sweetness and richness. Entree * Hay-Smoked Two-Week Aged Hudson Valley Duck Breast - was perfectly cooked, tender, smoky, and packed with rich flavors of blistered cranberries, parsnip cream, and sweet potato. * Spiced Red Venison Loin - cooked very well, the slight sweetness of the cranberries complements the dish beautifully. Dessert * Chestnut Mont Blanc with Vanilla Cake - light, airy, and delicious. * Chocolate Tart Soufflé - I only had a bite since I'm not a chocolate fan, but my boyfriend loved it. Additionally, I received a special complimentary dessert with a personalized congratulatory message--such a lovely touch! This was easily one of the best fine dining experiences of my life. If you're looking for an exceptional meal in an elegant setting, Gabriel Kreuther is a must-visit--perfect for any special occasion!

These appetizers from the chef were so tasty.

My soulmate and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary at this beautiful restaurant. The atmosphere was so elegant, but not too stuffy. We noticed a few customers did not wear a suit jacket. The service was impeccable. Always so attentive - our water glasses were hardly ever empty. The servers also explained each course as they were coming out. Most importantly, the food was amazing. We enjoyed every item, even the buttery bread. We will be back for more!

Nicely spread out tables, hushed atmosphere while still being comfortable. Whatever you do, order the chocolate souffle..... I'm sure the other deserts are great... But nothing is going to be better than the chocolate souffle. I think the waitress thinks I'm joking that I'm coming back tomorrow night just for coffee, glass of wine and the chocolate souffle.

Ask the Community - Gabriel Kreuther

Do they still give out personalized menu?

We didn't get one. Overall, straightforward with no vibe.

Do you think the restaurant is kid (1year old) friendly and the atmosphere too quiet or noisy enough to bring a baby?

Regrettably, not recommended for this upscale restaurant

    What is the dress code?

We were looking forward to dressing up and noticed it is quintessential nyc - with "men" in sports coats / jackets or at least a nice button downs - I didn't see jeans / flip flops / etc. This was also for dinner :) enjoy !!

Is there indoor seating ? The website appears to be down atm.

Yes, I was there recently and they did a great job with spacing with regard to COVID restrictions indoors.

Those of you who've done recent outdoor dining, is there a roof covering for rain? And what is dress code for outdoor patio?

Yes, there's roof covering, and heating lamps overhead as well. I am not aware of any dress code. It was pretty code, most people including us just kept our coats on.

Do you have to pre-pay for the tasting menu?

Pre-payment for our tasting menus is not necessary. You may contact our reservations team directly at (212) 257-5826 to make your reservation or even walk-in without the need to pay in advance. Have a good day!

Is tip included in Carte Blanche price?

Good afternoon Stacey, Thank you so much for your kind inquiry!…

How many hours does a 6 course tasting menu take?

Good afternoon, Thank you so much for reaching out!…

Can the chef make modifications for someone who is pregnant (no raw fish/meat/eggs, no unpasteurized dairy)?

Ask. It I think yes. I am a vegetarian. Are with kosher bf. Both of us were accommodated beautifully. Be clear when u reserve.

    What is the dress code?

I would say business casual or business formal is fine. No jeans or any street wear.

The RW menu was nice and well worth it, but as for me, I saw something else that I would rather have than the choices on the RW menu. I decided to go with the duck confit, but I did not read the menu thoroughly to see what side it came with. When it came out I saw it was with Flageolet bean Ragout which unfortunately I cannot eat, so I had to let Anna our server know. I was hoping she would keep the duck and just replace the side, but it looked like they made a completely new order, what service. My wife and son both ordered from RW menu and chose the boeuf bourgigninon which was so delicious, very tender beef and smooth mashed potatoes. We decided to also order escargot and French onion soup. Our service was just amazing from Anna our main server and the support servers who brought out our orders and to those who made sure our glasses were never empty. Of course the prefixe dessert was also delicious. Just super happy we learned that it was restaurant week and that we were able to experience it.

Oh, what a delight to stumble upon Marseille on a rainy day!…read more We stumbled into Marseille completely by chance. We were actually going to a different restaurant but the rain came down so hard, we needed to go somewhere closer. I want to come back and have a true meal here! (Apparently they do a discounted steak frites and that is my love language.) The staff very kindly accommodated us even thought we didn't have a reservation (we were only two). Everything in Marseille is done with a purpose. The waiters are all dressed in the same charming uniform. The cocktails are crafted with certain flavor profiles in mind. The menu is there to whisk you away to a little, remote village in France - except, you're on 9th Avenue in New York City and the street is littered with pushy walkers and....well, you get the drill. Anyway. Marseille begins the meal with the most excellent bread service. A fresh, hot sourdough roll is placed upon your table, along with herbed butter and oil. I could make a meal out of that bread alone. My cousin and I split the mushroom ravioli as an appetizer - a little salty, but excellent. The flavors were very well balanced and six was a good number for a dinner portion. We actually opted for the French onion soup as out main, and it was probably the best French onion soup we've ever had. There was also so much, we could not finish it. My Francais G&T was unbelievably good and came with a cornichon. Actually, shout out to our busser (I wish I got his name!) who accidentally took my drink-pickle away and had the waiter bring over more to make up for it. It was such a kind gesture and he deserves to be awarded for his attention to detail. (The wait staff overall was excellent. Kudos to the tall waiter with the snake ring and the shorter waitress with the great eyebrows. Again, I wish I got their names!) Oh, and as a bonus - they gave us some incredible truffles as a parting gift because we didn't stay for dessert. Like I said - the attention to detail here is on point! Overall, this is a fabulous spot. I would love to try brunch here!

Our waiter was super friendly and attentive, with a great sense of humor that made the whole dinner even more enjoyable. We started with Rockefeller oysters, escargot, steak tartare, and an heirloom tomato salad. Everything was delicious and tasted very fresh. I especially recommend the heirloom tomato salad--it was the perfect balance to all the richer appetizers. For my main, I ordered the duck à l'orange. The plating was beautiful, and they even brought some fire into the presentation (the only picture I managed to take ). The duck was cooked to perfection--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The parsnips were okay, although I wasn't a huge fan of the pairing with the duck. We ended the night with a dessert recommended by our waiter. It was some sort of cloudy foam with candy on top. Honestly, I have no idea what it was, but it was light, not overly sweet, and a great way to wrap up the meal. Definitely recommend this place if you're around Times Square and looking for a cozy French spot that doesn't take itself too seriously!

The atmosphere is wonderfully comforting--dimly lit, warmly inviting, with nicely set tables that immediately make you want to settle in. The service was quiet and very competent. As a big fan of Lyonnaise salads, I had to try theirs, and it exceeded my expectations. The lardons were large and crispy, paired with wonderful brioche croutons and a perfectly poached egg. A classic done very well. And although it's not exactly French, their burger was superb. Served on an oversized grilled English muffin, it had a juicy patty topped with melted Gruyère. And the fries? As good as any you'll find in a bistro in Paris. A terrific discovery and exactly the kind of old-school restaurant that's getting harder and harder to find.

The wonderful lady who was singing and playing the piano did a really good job, it's such a romantic place. The food was good and I split a bottle of wine with my partner. We ordered off the pre-fix menu and added oysters on top. The oysters were so good and I really liked the vinegar. For the appetizers, it was a beet salad and pate. The pate was SO good, I get it again to be honest. Then came the entrees, we ordered the medium well steak frites and pan seared stripped bass. The steak came out rare and the fish was okay, it could have been a bit more seasoned for my personal taste. I traded dishes with my partner because I can't eat rare steak but he can. We also got the peach ice cream dessert and the dessert of the day which was a coconut gelatin(?) dish and it was AMAZING. Overall experience was good, the only thing that was kinda a miss was the entrees.

We ordered a traditional gran marnier soufflé with our dinner order as it takes that amount of time to make it. I came for the duck confit. It was tasty with the right amount of crispy skin. My sister ordered the Moules Marinieres which I think was the winner. It came with fries and a few small dishes of green beans. The Buf Bourguignon was rich and hearty. I've been craving a soufflé, and I'm not an expert but I wish I hadn't poured all the sauce in as the mariner was fairly strong and almost overpowered the soufflé in flavor. Overall, happy to support a small mom and pop business. You have to call for reservations. No resy or open table.

Putting the food aside (which was VERY good), the place is beyond charming... like walking into your nonna's living room- and the staff was welcoming. As for the food: everything is "perfect" in a simple, old school, traditional way. No trendy twists. This is a GOOD thing in my book. It has been years since Ive had escorgot that I loved, but this brought me back. I had almost sworn off of it. My steak au-poivre was cooked to perfection and green peppercorn sauce was sublime. The fries were basic but in a good, I dare say perfect, way. My gf had the sole and, altho she says it wasnt earth shattering, liked it as well. The soufle was a bit of a novelty for me but worth a try. This place is Old School New York at its finest. P.S. I cant stand liver or pate but my gf ordered the foie gras (which ive never had) and tho i resisted trying it, I finally did and loved it. I think that says something about the place. She said it was perfect.

There were only 2 other parties seated and we were seated immediately upon arrival. It's fairly dark inside and the decor reminds me a bit of New Orleans. I enjoyed the ambiance. The drinks were great! I had the cocobella while he had margaritas. The table bread was hot and fresh, so make sure they bring it to the table for you. We had the mussels for an appetizer, lamb chops and bass. EVERYTHING was excellent! The flavor of the broth for the mussels was Devine, so much so my husband used his bread to sop up all he could. The bass had great flavor and came with sautéed spinach that was well cooked. It initially looked like a small portion but turned out to be plenty. The lamb chops were cooked to the requested temp and seasoned well. We left no crumbs. This one is definitely worth a try!

I snagged a seat on their upstairs patio, surrounded by the kind of older, well-heeled UES regulars that give the place such a quintessential NYC vibe. I went with the $35 lunch special, which gets you an appetizer and an entrée. For my app, the Escargots de Bourgogne- absolutely the star of the meal, I could've eaten a second order. The Crêpe Forestière for my entrée was lovely too, and I washed it all down with a lemonade. Everything was genuinely delicious. My one small gripe: I got charged for two lemonades, which stung a little given that (a) it's lemonade, and (b) the glass was on the petite side to begin with. Minor quibble, though. Other than that, it was a perfect NYC lunch, exactly what I was hoping for.

While the French Onion soup was still a stand-out dish, the painfully slow service detracted. There appeared to be a single waitress working. I didn't notice during my first visit if there were multiple servers, but the first time I did hear the waiter advise another table that the kitchen was behind and there would be a wait for food. (This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.
