This outdoor cafe had some of the most friendly and best servers we experienced in our time in New Orleans. They also had delicious drinks and the muffuletta was SO good. In addition, there was a small band playing during the lunch hour. It made for a great vibe. Overall, it was definitely a highlight of our trip to New Orleans. read more

This is the perfect place to hit when your diversions bring you down near the river. I happened to be headed back from the French Market, and since I had a sudden craving for a blended beverage, I stopped and purchased a rum rummer. I did not regret it. It packed quite a punch yet lost no delicious points in the process. The price wasn't bad at all either. I'd love to eat here on their outdoor patio; it seems a great way to relax and people watch. read more

In front of the French Market there are 2 open patio restaurants in the middle of Decatur across from Cafe Du Monde: The Gazebo Cafe and The Market Cafe. Walking up from Jackson square you see the Market Cafe first, so it's much busier than its sister restaurant right behind it, Gazebo. Almost the same menu because it's the same owner, same kitchen pretty much. The Gazebo is less crowded and certain items on the menu are $1 less. You get less seafood at this restaurant, so if you are looking for seafood gumbo go to The Market, but if you want chicken gumbo, come to Gazebo. Since it's less crowded a lot of times the jazz band is situated on the Gazebo side. This isn't the best New Orleans fare you can get in the area, but it is decent and convenient. If you need a quick bite and feel like sitting outside and seeing the sites, listening to great music, then this is the place to go. If you are looking for an elegant meal, a flavor bomb, etc. go elsewhere. Tons of options in NOLA. read more

I came in here for a quick bite and break from the sun while walking around the French Market and surrounding parts of the French Quarter. There was a live band playing while I was eating, which was pretty cool. I wound up ordering a cup of gumbo and half a muffuletta. The gumbo was great, as I expected. The muffuletta was pretty good as well. It was only a half order, but it was gigantic! I assume a full order of it would be enough for 2 people, lol. As far as the service goes, it was quick and friendly as well. I recommend this place if you want a quick bite while listening to some good tunes. read more

*THIS REVIEW IS STRICTLY FOR THE DRINKS* I enjoy starting my morning with The Bloody Mary-- I love the touch of the pickled okras served in this drink-- and the Frozen Daiquiris WITH ICE CREAM (The White Russian and the Dreamsicle are my favorite)! The White Russian is served with Coffee Liqueur, Vodka, and Ice Cream, while the Dreamsicle is served Vodka, Amaretto, OJ, and Ice Cream-- both delicious, creamy alcoholic concoctions. I love being here because it's very casual. It's right next to The French Market, and you can sit back, watch and listen to the jazz musicians, all while taking in the sights of The Big Easy. read more

Live music and attentive service, while eating barely average food. Stopped in here for brunch/lunch during our New Orleans visit. Looking through the menu, we were offered a breakfast buffet. I was intrigued until I noticed that all the offerings were very basic and nothing creole/local cuisine was at hand at the buffet. A holiday inn breakfast buffet would have been very similar. So instead we opted for two a la cart items. The good: muffuletta sandwich was delicious and a generous portion The bad: the jambalaya was served like warm, looked like a kid made it and tasted bland. Looking at the other photos being posted, I wish I took one of my dish, because it looked nothing like those. I had large slices of peppers over a rice serving with a couple sausage pieces. If I hadn't been starving at that point, I would've asked for another dish on site. read more

Nice live cover band. We ordered to-go and it took forever! We saw other customers who were seated after us get their food prior to us. We had to ask the waitress how much longer the wait. Would have preferred they inform us instead of having to ask. Food was OK. Po'boy needed more sauce, the lettuce was old and soggy. Fried chicken sandwich was OK. Alligator sausage sandwich was flavorful. read more

Ok I will admit I was torn at first checking out this place. My wife wanted a po'boy and I was dead set on a muffalotta. Not many places serve both. Arrived just after 1130am and a live jazz band was smoking hot. It's an outdoor venue so consider the time of year. My wife got a roast beef po'boy with beef gravy, outstanding, I got a little nibble. My muffa was solid and to boot, extra olive sauce. I did a little fried gator as a side also good especially the sauce, just the right bite. I know there are other places that boast better boys and muffas,but you can't go wrong here. Get you bignets and coffee in the am, shop the market and walk the quarter. You will be hungry by then. You will drop back and thank me. read more

Worst experience in #NewOrleans hands down. Manager is a nightmare and clearly in the wrong industry. We saw the signs that said "no outside food" BUT the woman who made our drinks at the stand AND the server who brought us our menus said we were fine to have half our party eat the sandwhich we brought with us (together with drinks and sides we were ordering from them) while the other half ordered exclusively from them. We would never have assumed it was ok had two people not given permission!!! After we were seated, the manager came out and began verbally and publicly berating us. We explained that two of her employees had given permission but she only grew more confrontational. We left and sat in the park and about five minutes later she left her business to follow us and asked us to identify her two employees. Given how inappropriate she was with us, we refused so as not to shift her ire to them. Sad. She was absolutely awful and her behavior was inexcusable. read more

Great Place to hear live jazz near the historic French Market I came to this place 2 days in a row. The first day, I came and listened to some live music while sipping a starwberry daiquiri made with ice cream. It was a refreshing treat in the Louisiana heat. Even met some new friends here. The next day, I came and listened to jazz and ordered a shrimp po boy. It was delicious. The shrimp were clean and perfectly cooked, I'd suggest ordering a side of remoulade sauce vs the cocktail sauce that it comes with. The french fries were especially good! After my food digested as I did a bit of walking around, I came back and ordered a Hurricane. I am a drinker and I doubted I would feel anything from it, but by the second one, I had a nice little buzz. The Hurricanes here are only 7.75 and they are strong! Dont forget to tip the band! read more

Stopped in for a quick bite after the Hop On Hop Off city bus tour. It stops right at the French Market which is where this was located. The band was playing great Jazz music. I saw a lot of people just having drinks and enjoying the music. We were starving so we ordered the jambalaya and half a muffuletta. My friend also got a Long Island iced tea and it was delicious! The rice in the jambalaya was a bit over cooked but had a really good flavor. The muffuletta was delicious and served warm. Service was awesome. Our waiter saw our lost looks because we weren't sure if we just sat ourselves as it was just an open cafe. He came over and took very good care of us. He was very personable and accommodating to not only us but everyone around us. I wish I could remember this name. Lively atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, great drinks! read more

Service from our waiter was excellent, the breeze felt amazing and was essential on this hot afternoon, and the music was festive! Covid19 Guidelines were followed by the outdoor restaurant but unfortunately with so many people walking through (without masks) it was hard to control Alot of people sat and drank and enjoyed the music (please be reminded that it is customary to tip the live music/bands in New Orleans) We ordered food also (ordering drinks at bar hurt waiters tips so we started ordering drinks from our waiter) We ordered the Seafood Platter that came with Fried Catfish, Shrimp, Oysters... I ordered onion rings also. The food was good for a casual eatery. This was our first meal of the day after walking a few miles in the hot sun so unfortunately I wasn't feeling too great at first! But then after getting some food and drinks we were ok We stayed awhile after our lunch, enjoyed the music and ordered some drinks... Gazebo Cafe is always a must when I fly into New Orleans. If you need shade from the heat there is an inside to this Cafe, but I always prefer to sit outside where you can listen to some New Orleans Jazz preformed right in-front of you. The serve drinks however you like em frozen or non-frozen they'll take care of you. The food isn't that amazing, but its worth the trip if you're in the area. The one thing I found odd is right after we receive our food, the next thing we get hit with is the bill. I don't know about you, but personally I end up ordering more than one drink while eating especially if their is live music involved. Our waiters always end up reprint our check 3-4 times because of how much we order after our initial order was placed. read more

We've usually stopped here for drinks as we're walking around the Quarter. This place is so much more than a quick drink stop, though the ice cream cocktails are delicious. Try the banana split cocktail! We were looking for a quick nibble and ordered the gumbo fries. They were beyond fantastic, a great gumbo to fries ratio. We needed forks to finish. YUM!! read more

Rude boss, stupid. I ordered hurricane for my girlfriend. Their workers spill on me some drinks and never apologized. I hate this place and my day is spoiled. This business is worst in USA and I never had such a bad experience here, I consider it's it's like insult and it's true. This place shouldn't exist. Rude and dirty place. I'm not to sure how you can really have a bad experience here at the gazebo cafe, but it seems some folks have. Everyone was fairly friendly including the bartender I had, Enjolie (I sat in the self service tables). The waiters in the service areas seem to make all of their guests laugh and hang out for a good while. There is a band that plays all sorts of music very well they keeps you entertained under the trees and sun. I have the Dreamsicle, which is vodka (upgraded to Tito's), orange liquer, amaretto, ice, orange juice and vanilla ice cream. Not to bad.... if I have it again I will definitely ask for more of the orange liquer and vodka as opposed to amaretto, which slightly overpowered the drink. I surely had a good time sitting outside and enjoying the sights and smells of New Orleans. read more

We were walking around the market and found this cute spot. The outside seating were great on a warm day and the love music was just the perfect touch. Staff was sweet and attentive. We ordered the mudslide, Bloody Mary and a local beer. They were delicious but the mudslide was my favorite. We ordered the red beans and rice -which was the best I've ever had and the muffuletta. It was good but nothing extraordinary which was perfect with us. Great prices and great place to spot and relax read more

I was walking from Jackson Square to the French Market when I heard the loveliest chill-lounge jazz. I followed the sound to this spot with outdoor (covered) seating. They have kitchens on either side - one for drinks & another for food. I just got in line for an amazing daiquiri, found an empty table & sat down, but there were servers around who could take your order as well. If I hadn't already had lunch, I would've loved to try some of their food - the daiquiri was so good, I'm sure the rest of their offerings would be as well. Now - the band. I saw quite a bit of live jazz in my trip but this was by far my favourite. The lead singer/guitarist had such a personality - he was so engaging, and his lyrics ranged from perfectly sweet to SO naughty! They played a great variety, everyone was totally into it, laughing & cheering. It was a lovely spot & I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town! read more

Ice Cream Daquiri's are made wih delicious ice-cream and alchohol. We also ordered some without alcohol, which were very refreshing on a hot New Orleans day! There are a lot of flavors to choose from; I chose the White Russian kind of hastily, (the female bartender seemed slightly irritated and impatient). When it's two in the afternoon and you find yourself craving something sweet, steer away from the beignets and walk one block east to this place for a Mud Slide! (The beignets will still be there later... And without a line!!) 7.75 for a blended ice cream alcoholic milkshake.... So delicious! No wait at all at the walk up window and they have a live band playing jazz (at least at 2pm on the Thursday we went) We've gotten so many tips of places to go and things to eat/drink, and I'm so glad to be able to be the one recommending The Gazebo to my friends with future trips here! read more

Home of the original ice cream daquari! This spot was a must do for me. I love gazebos and it sounded so fun to go check out. There is plenty of seating outside around the main gazebo where drinks are made. You can get the drinks on the rocks or blended. Always blended!! Lots of flavor options as well but went with one of the recommendations the bartender gave me. These drinks are absolutely delicious and great to sip on while you listen to some live music and people watch in this fun area. It seems like they often have live music here. It was the perfect treat as a dessert and an alcoholic drink! There's plenty of seating so we didn't have any issue sitting for a while to enjoy everything. We weren't rushed out either. Prices are reasonable and the service was good here. I would highly recommend checking this place out! I didn't do food here, just the drinks, but the menu looked good as well. Plenty of options for your group when going out. If you're just going for drinks you can order straight with the bartender and take your drinks and find a seat. Ice cream daquari!! Great spot for an outdoor meal/snack and drinks. The waiter was all over it. Mr. Personality and efficient handling everything "I don't right anything down!" We tried the vegetarian muffaletto-it was very good. Had the Po-Boy shrimp sandwich-another very good sandwich. Had an order of shrimp-generous portion and cooked just right. Also went with the Jambalaya fries. That was different and I'd eat it again! Very nice meal and a generous military discount. There were 6 of us in our party, a Tuesday evening, seated and served quickly. All the covid safety precautions were in place and we felt safe. Right off the bat, after arriving on a Friday around 4:45 PM we were seated promptly, given water and the tastiest little sweet yeast rolls ever (the tops actually crackled when you squish them you guys), and made our bevvie choices. Tonic with lime for me (I'm behaving rn) and an Old Fashioned for wifey. Killer. We skipped the appetizer course and ended up ordering off the specials menu for both meals. She got braised brisket with deviled egg potato salad (fantastic!) and I got grilled Amberjack with roasted Brussels, topped with pickled peppers, onion, capers, and a drizzle of olive oil and Crema. Did I mention this place has a rustic atmosphere, and cozy feel, AND a Michelin recco without a dress code required?!? We had Lemon Buttermilk Icebox pie for dessert... MY GODS. This pile of words I just typed doesn't do this place justice. Chef Link has got something special going here, and his butcher shop next door is totally groovy too. I can't rave enough about this place, and I wish it wasn't so dang far from Texas, but hey, it's just another in a list of damn fine reasons to come visit the fine folks of NoLa again.

The sandwiches other diners had on their plates were large and looked delicious just glancing around at other tables. Everything comes up fast and the atmosphere is . . . just ideally New Orleans. It feels all the way "working CBD lunch" yet unhurried, a reflection of Cochon's greatness but scaled down and with utterly no pretense. There's simply a real sense of both care and expertise in everything done here no matter how simple or complex. Beyond all else, they're doing what they love here with no scaling back or dressing up to make it anything else. A winner through and through.

Iama Critic Rating - The Gazebo Café - 3 Stars 1018 Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA Overall: During our week long foodie vacation to New Orleans Five Star Restaurant Reviews had the chance to dine at the finest restaurants in Cajun country. Naturally we had to go to The Gazebo Café and try their classic Cajun Po-Boys. The Gazebo Cafe was packed to the hilt so we ended up at one of the outdoor picnic tables. I enjoyed people watching but didn't enjoy the attention of all the bugs and pigeons. The Gazebo is right down the street from the French Market and the Mississippi river, so it is right in the thick of the action in New Orleans. However this is also a negative as The Gazebo's prices not only reflect their food but also reflect their "tourist appeal". We deducted one star for each item we rated because of this loss of value. If money is no object to you then you can add a star to our sandwich ratings. The Service - 2 Stars (12%) The service was terrible as could somewhat be expected considering the shear mass of people milling about this restaurant. I can't recall what our waitress ever did for us but it wasn't much. We typically provide 20% or more for 5 star service on the pre-tax portion of the bill, 18% for 4, 15% for 3, 12% for 2 and 0% for 1 star service. The Food: $12.95 Oyster Po-Boy - 3 Stars This po-boy typically comes with potato chips but was ordered with onion rings, which may have been an up-charge. The onion rings were fabulous. The oysters were the smallest we had during our entire New Orleans vacation. While the sandwich was good, it was not worth the $13.00 price. $13.95 Alligator Po-Boy - 3 Stars This po-boy typically comes with potato chips but was ordered with fries, which may have been an up-charge. The fries were average. The taste of the alligator was not distinctive and could have been any number of other meats. I am not saying it wasn't alligator, I am just saying I see little point in paying so much for a sandwich that tasted like fried chicken. I used to cook alligator all the time when I lived near the Everglades and it never tasted so mild and generic. Total Bill: $35.84 for two people including tax and tip and drinks. Final Thoughts: The sandwiches we had at The Gazebo Café were good, but good po-poys in New Orleans are available on every corner. The next time we are in New Orleans, we will likely skip the Gazebo and look for better po-boys elsewhere. read more

I did not catch the waitress name but the one who was there on April 1st 2018 at 2:45PM. It's juicy inside - no hint of dryness. It wasn't spicy at all, but irrelevant. (You can always add hot sauce.) We had it the first night we were here and never failed to put in an order each time we made a stop. Highly recommending that if you happen to find yourself here, GET THESE! FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 5. Grant and all other servers and workers were amazing. VALUE: 5. More than fair for what you get! PARKING: I believe they have valet parking, possibly for a fee. OVERALL: 5. NOLA was close to our hotel, so we thought, "Why not give this place a try?"…read more Just be ready to understand the culture. Don't drink alcohol? Just ask for a lemonade. We found that was our option. But, really, alcohol seemed to be why people go there. However, if that's all you get, you are missing out. My wife and I both really enjoy led our catfish po' boys. Balanced flavor, great condiments, not too much lettuce. The place had about 10 other people and when someone came in and asked for the catfish, it was all gone. The atmosphere was quiet enough to talk, if with a futbol match on the television. The single gentleman tending the bar and grill seemed really angry at something because he kept swearing and didn't seem happy to serve us. But we don't hold that against him. It just made things a little awkward. Overall, not bad.
