I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Incredible gelato, so many flavors to choose from. The flavors are delicious and the texture is so creamy. The owner/manager even gave us an ice cream sandwich to try which was so nice and it was amazing. We are only here for 3 days but we are talking about going back every day. The location is right on the corner so it's convenient to get to. And the inside is so nice, a decent amount of tables. Very relaxing feel. Gelatiamo always hits the spot with me for Gelato! It is one of my favorite spots in Seattle. I really enjoy Gelatiamo a lot. I enjoy all of their flavors. I have been there multiple times. I especially love their chocolate flavor. It is really good, creamy, and has great Gelato texture. It is a very small establishment, so seating is limited. Make sure you are prepared for that. During the summer tourist months, it is very busy and there can often be a line out of the door. The employees have always been nice to me, and I have no complaints. You can get a bowl or a cone, and there are limited options that you can add on top. Overall, I highly recommend Gelatiamo if you are craving good Gelato! read more

Very disappointed. I've had Whole Foods Tiramisu that taste better than this. It didn't taste like it had mascarpone cheese. It tasted dry inside. It tasted like whipped cream only. A cheap way to make it and this is an Italian Ice Cream shop. My Tiramisu taste 20 times better and more decadent. I thought there would be something more special and unique with an Italian store tiramisu. Their Gelato was very good though. I had the mint chocolate, rice, and caramel something. Diamond in the rough. I have passed by Gelatiamo at least 100 times, as it's on my route to work. Because of its unfortunate location at 3rd and Union, across from the post office and Benaroya Hall, a block from the stabby corner, with meth heads aplenty in the vicinity, I had never stopped to go in. I'm usually in a rush to get away from the area. I decided to give it a try when searching for an ice cream cake for my birthday. I wanted to try the gelato before springing for a whole gelato cake, so my boyfriend and I stopped by on a Friday before dinner. Having lived in Europe and eaten a very ridiculous amount of gelato in Italy, I'm something of a gelato snob. Any gelato snob will know the first potential indicator of quality is the color of the pistachio gelato. If it's green, you know they're using a lot of artificial flavors and colors and the place can't possibly be good. At Gelatiamo, the pistachio flavor was brown. I got a small with the pistachio and rice flavors, and both were heavenly. The rice was like a rice pudding, not super sweet, just right. My boyfriend and I shared it. It was so good that he wanted to stop by again AFTER dinner. He got the cookies and cream and the peanut butter cup. Cookies and cream was his favorite. It was a homemade Italian cookie, not an Oreo, and he described it as something between a cookie and a brownie. He said he'd never tasted anything like it. I inquired about the ice cream cakes. On the website, they had individual gelato cakes, but it looks like they stopped making those when COVID hit. They had 6" tiramisu gelato cake and another flavor in 10", and they require several days advanced notice for a custom order. I needed something for Sunday, and I wasn't sure about the tiramisu flavor, so I decided to sleep on it. The next morning, I woke up with Gelatiamo on the brain. I needed that gelato cake. I returned and got myself a decaf affogato (yes they do decaf!) with hazelnut gelato. It was so smooth and heavenly. I've had a lot of affogatos where the textures turn weird when it melts into the coffee. This one melted beautifully like cream and blended perfectly with the flavors. I can only guess this is because they require fewer stabilizers and preservatives since they make everything onsite. I left with a 6" tiramisu gelato cake. I wasn't thrilled that this was the only flavor, because I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to tiramisu, but it was great. My friends and I had a couple of pieces left over, and my Italian friend (real Italian immigrant with an accent and everything who had made a lasagna from scratch earlier in the day) loved it so much that he insisted on taking the leftovers. I will definitely plan better in the future so I can make a custom cake, but it really was a huge hit and easily in the top two ice cream cakes of my life. Flavors and textures were excellent, and the decorations were beautiful and delicious. I will add that service was fantastic and prices were VERY reasonable for Seattle. Yes, $37.50 for a 6" cake may feel like a lot for some people, but it's quite reasonable. They are paying Seattle rent and making EVERYTHING from scratch from high quality ingredients. They literally make the cakes and ice cream in the basement of this facility. Also, I got the same size ice cream cake at a different local ice cream shop for $70. Gelatiamo was half the price. Go there now, please support local businesses. I would hate to see a place like this disappear and be replaced with another chain restaurant. read more

Id give this place 2-2.5 but I feel bad doing so. I've heard so much about this place and how good and authentic the gelato was. Knowing that I had pretty high expectations, though after trying it out I was disappointed. This place closes pretty early especially for a dessert spot, so I came right before closing in order to try. The workers here weren't the best and seemed pretty rude and stressed. Though I wasn't surprised it was a super sunny, busy day and they seemed to be working really hard. I tried a sample of 3 flavors, which they seemed to be annoyed about. All the flavors I tried were very disappointing, all lacked that creamy gelato texture and good authentic flavor. The sorbets were also quite icy, which of course it's a sorbet, but much icier than normal. The place was also very small and quite busy for right before closing. And for the prices they were also very steep for the quantity of gelato they provide you. Overall I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend wasting your dessert craving on this. read more

Their pistachio gelato is so good! You can taste actual pistachios. One of the best I've tasted! Other flavors like Rice and chocolate were not as flavorful. I don't like chewy stuff in my gelato and the fact that rice was in my gelato did not appeal to me. My partner liked it though. Chocolate is not as rich as I hoped but it could be personal preference. I like dark chocolate. In a different occasion, I got the chocolate raspberry gelato cake for my birthday and it was a bit disappointing. Raspberry's sourness overwhelmed my taste buds. This is a must-try! Granted, the flavors sound funky, but rest assured, they're worth the courage. We ordered a medium; here were the flavors we tried (we asked the staff for recommendations, and that's how we got to our first 2 flavors): * Rice -- sounds weird, and would've never ordered this had it not been for the staff recommendation. I'm so glad we did, because this is my favorite flavor. Not just my favorite of the 3 -- my favorite of all time! * Pistachio -- Some pistachio bits inside with a good amount of pistachio flavor. Note this one and the rice are fairly "thick" gelatos. The consistency is pretty close to that of ice cream. * Cream Brulé -- The creamiest and softest of the 3 flavors here. Although, this was a bit too sweet for our taste. All in all, great portions, amazing flavors, and very friendly staff. Ample seating, and a decent line as a testimony to its popularity. Gelatiamo has the best gelato I've had outside of Italy! The hazelnut flavor is actually to die for - I could eat endless amounts of it! If you like hazelnut, nutella, or nutty flavor profiles you have to get it. One thing I love about this place is that they never seem to use artificial colorings (or flavors). None of that bright green gelato. They use the highest quality ingredients, and the owners are from Italy as well. They also sell Caffe Umbria coffee inside (and the owner of that is also from central Italy). I would highly encourage you support their business! Being near 3rd Ave downtown, I've seen their posts about the crime that goes on in the area and this undoubtedly hard for the staff to deal with. They have boarded up their doors to protect their property. Show them some love! It's right near Pike Place so if you go to the market, you should stop by - you won't regret it. I've never had their pastries, cookies, or cakes but they look super delicious. If you can't make a visit to downtown, they sell their gelato at Metropolitan Market which has various locations all over Seattle! read more

I pride myself on being an ice cream connoisseur and the PNW has been a great place for trying out local spots with fresh, interesting flavors. While molly moons, full tilt, and salt & straw top the lists of most Seattlers, I believe Gelatiamo has been severely underrated. I would go so far as to say this is my favorite dessert spot in the entire region. The pistachio gelato is on par with or perhaps even better than anything I've had in the US or in Italy. The rice gelato has a very interesting texture that goes well with pistachio so I always get these two in combination. Their other flavors are also brilliant and the staff is extremely friendly and will let you try as many flavors as you like. They will also put your scoops into a steel bowl and bring it to your table like an old school ice cream shop. Id give this place more than 5 stars if I could! read more
