I actually really want to commend this place on their peaches and cream gelato!!! It was amazing! Easily the best peach-flavored thing I've ever had. Everything else was a normal gelato experience lol, but if I was here longer I would've came back to try some other flavors since they knocked it out of the park w this one! (That being said, I totally forget the other flavor, so maybe it's hit and miss)
Gelatiamo is a well-regarded gelato shop in downtown Seattle. Other than gelato, they are also a bakery selling Italian style cookies and cakes. They also sell coffee to pair with the sweets. We are allowed to sample flavors, with (I believe) a limit of three. We ordered a grande size gelato ($7.95), which we can choose up to two flavors - Blueberry Lavendar and Marionberry. Both flavors are on point and excellent. Definitely recommend the gelato. They have small tables both inside and outside. Service was friendly. I was eyeing the pastry cases, but I will need to wait until next visit.
I've taken cakes home from here, but never posted an evaluation. Those cakes factored into this rating. The ice cream is creamy and a split scoop (two types) is still a very generous portion. I was able to try a few before settling on my selection. Pistachio tasted exactly as it should, and the rice pudding ice cream was an unusual treat. Coffee was made perfectly. The raspberry cake was okay - a little sweet and a tad dry. Whipped cream would enhance the flavor and texture, so I was glad I ordered ice cream. On other occasions, I 've had their mille feuille cake which is phenomenal. Even picked up a whole one for Mother's Day. This brings the overall rating uo to a 4. Solid place and convenient location when walking around downtown.
If you're looking for creamy gelato, daring flavors, and an overall phenomenal experience, Gelatiamo is the place for you. As the name suggests, Gelatiamo serves authentic Italian gelato, providing a perfect break for guests exploring the nearby Pike Place. I actually went here twice because it was so good, and I only got the gelato, but they also offer coffee, cakes, and other goods. I would certainly recommend the usual, safe flavors like the coconut and the mango. However, where Gelatiamo really shines is in its experiential selection. Namely, the fine matcha tastes freshly ground, slightly bitter, slightly sweet, as true matcha aficionados would appreciate. Definitely worth a try. The rice-flavored gelato was a pleasant surprise for me. I've had my fair share of rice in various forms but I've never had it in gelato. I was expecting something bland, boring, and disappointing, but it was instead light, creamy, and with a slightly sweet turn at the end. Overall, Gelatiamo is the perfect sweet treat for anyone in the area and totally worth the visit!
Gelatiamo is a great stop if you're in the mood for gelato. I got the cappuccino gelato and really enjoyed it. The coffee flavor was rich without being overly sweet, and the texture was super smooth. The employee helping us was very friendly, she answered our questions and let us sample some flavors. There's a nice cozy vibe inside with a decent amount of seating, and the pastry case looked great as well. I'd definitely come back to try more, especially if I'm nearby.
What a great spot to drop into before checking out a concert at Benarpya Hall across the street. It's small and can get crowded but they have a nice selection of gelato and make a wonderful caffe con panna -- feels like the whipped cream was homemade. It's not always easy to find a good hot chocolate but my child finished theirs happily so we give a big thumbs up. Service was friendly, ambience a bit crowded before the show.
gelatiamo was a cozy hideaway spot from the crazy seattle wind and rain (someone had to be by the door to let people in and out). overall very vibey with a few tables to sit at! staff were friendly as well. for the smallest size, you can get two scoops of any flavor! the berries and cream flavor reminded me of the plain tart frozen yogurt flavor (but much creamier and a bit sweeter from the berries). the strawberry sorbet was also very good! you can taste the strawberries for sure. eggnog was an interesting flavor! i've never had actual eggnog before so i don't have a good comparison point but it was good and not overwhelming in any flavor profile. cookies and cream was good too :)
Yes, I absolutely do recommend Gelatiamo!! If you're a fan of gelato or great ice-cream then this is the place for you!! I tried the rice gelato and I have to say that it immediately became my favorite dessert here!!! The service is quick and friendly! So yes, come by and check this gem out!!
Gelato is one of life's sweet treasures; one that I believe should be indulged in with reckless abandon. On my 3 week long trip to Italy years ago, I helped myself to a serving or two of gelato every single day. That set the bar of expectations very high and I haven't really had anything that came close to it since then.... until now. Gelatiamo is an artisanal gelateria in the heart of Downtown Seattle. For 20 years, they've been finessing their craft to bring authentic Italian gelato to all who wish to indulge. Incorporating thoughtfully sourced ingredients like organic milk and seasonal fruit, small batches are made fresh daily. The owner also grew up in Italy and I now see why her gelato immediately transported me back to my days frolicking through Rome, Venice, Verona, Milan, etc. After much deliberation, I decided on 2 flavors, rice and rainbow. Although it sounds so plain, almost pedestrian even, rice is one of their most popular flavors. I was optimistically skeptical, but it must be a favorite for a reason, right? Rainbow was a new flavor, created for what I assume was the upcoming Pride celebrations. A mascarpone and cream cheese based flavor, it was brought to life with a rainbow of mini cake bites topping the gelato. The verdict? Rice was amazing, even in its simplicity. It really tasted like rice, but in the form of gelato and I just could not get enough. It was SO good. The rainbow, oh my goodness, that was absolute heaven as well. Perfectly balanced flavors in every aspect. I truly haven't enjoyed gelato this much in years. My only regret was not being able to share the experience with friends or family. Really. If ever I'm back in Seattle, I am definitely coming back here. I'm truly impressed and I highly recommend! It is in walking distance to all the main Seattle stops like the Waterfront and Pike Place Market so it can easily be incorporated into your itinerary. read more
What time is it?! It's gelato time! Whoops, excuse me *ahem*... it's GELATIAMO tiiiiime! All of you gelato fiends out there; this one goes out to YOU. Yes, you. Because I know you need this gelato in ya life. Hell, YOU know you need this gelato in ya life. So... creamy. So... rich. So... decadent. So. effing. DEE-LISH-UUUSSS! Getchu some... NOW. Did you hear me? Like righ' nah'!!! I'm in love with the 'lato! What an amazing little find! Whilst searching for parking (which is a struggle in this area by the way), I drove passed this place. I guess you can say that it tickled my fancy a lil' bit. I actually wasn't even gonna try it at first. So what changed my mind, you ask? Welp, I was standing in front of Target and saw two people holding these massive ice cream cones! I just thought to myself: I know they didn't just get those from that gelato shop. I know they aren't gonna finish all of that. I wouldn't be able to finish all of that... I. Want. THAT. And guess what? I. Got. THAT! Well, not that exact same thing but ya know. I got one of those delicious gelato cones. This place is darling! The interior is so quaint and comfy. It was still early when I first arrived, and there was only one other person in the shop who was in front me. I just kind of admired the place as I waited for my turn. Not only does this place have gelato, but they also make cakes, cookies, shakes, and café drinks. Their cakes aren't ordinary cakes either. These cakes are state of the art! They're custom made with the cutest little designs. I would love to be surprised with one of their cakes on a special occasion! Now back to that gelato; just SCRUMPTIOUS! This is one of those places where you can just LOOK at the gelato and you'll know that it's top tier quality. All of those sexy ripples of pure creaminess! Mm mm mmm! Now, that's what I'm talking about bay-beh! They also have a great variety of flavors that they rotate out from time to time. You can try as many as you'd like! No need to feel rushed in making your decision. The nice young man who assisted me at the counter was so pleasant. He chatted me up as I sampled the goods. The sizes are HUGE here! I got a small with two different flavors, and I could barely finish the damn thing. This is some of the creamiest gelato that I've had in a long while. I got crème brulee and apple pie strudel, both of which tasted incredible. It was only necessary to enjoy this in a waffle cone which only made everything even that much better. So much flavor packed into that cone. I fell in love with the first bite and have been having withdrawals ever since. This will be a Seattle staple for me. Best gelato in Seattle! Gelatiamo is located in downtown Seattle and features gelato that's worth checking out! Every time I've visited Gelatiamo they feature a new flavor, depending on what's available for the season. Free samples, so get some and find a favorite! In addition to gelato there are other desserts, such as cakes, tarts, cookies, etc... They also have a full coffee menu, so yes, affogato is served here. When you dine in, they bring your order to you at your table. There is some seating inside, as well as outdoor space. Some favorite gelato flavors of mine are red velvet, mint chocolate and egg nog. For anyone wanting a gelato treat in Seattle, this is where you'll find it. Treat yo'self! read more
I went in early in the morning when they opened to purchase a cake for a birthday. My original plan was to buy an individual cake, but the only flavors available were pumpkin & vanilla and tiramisu. The larger cakes were so pretty that I convinced myself to buy one of those instead. It was my first time buying a cake for someone so I asked for the store's most popular flavor. I don't know if it was just too early but the lady seemed a little annoyed by my questions (maybe I asked too many?). But she did answer that the Raspberry & Chocolate was the most popular. The cake was a hit with everyone. I don't think many people have had "gelato cake" before and they were surprised at how good it was. Keep it in the freezer until it's time to eat though. It is mostly made of gelato. I did call in later for a receipt for the cake and the male staff member that answered the phone was super friendly. He asked a few questions and within minutes I had the receipt emailed to me. read more
Excellent gellato. Made in small batches there is a constantly changing selection. A small dish can have 2 different flavors and I wanted to maximize my flavor options. The the maple pecan and blackberry were refreshing. There are also specialty European desserts available but I wasn't looking. read more
I love going to this gelato shop every time I am around downtown Seattle. A scoop or two always satisfy my cravings! The gelato here is natural and consistently delicious. We ordered butter pecan, espresso, pistachio and melon sorbet, the sorbet has concentrated flavor and so refreshing! The nut flavors are noteworthy too, especially the pistachio! I look forward to birthdays in my family now because I know there's going to be a cake from Gelatiamo!! I'm not a huge fan of the traditional American-style cake with lots of frosting, so Gelatiamo is perfect for a little bit of variety. I highly recommend the tiramisu and the diplomatica sheet cake. They're both so rich in flavor but not overwhelmingly sweet. HEADS UP: They are only open Thursday-Sunday from noon till 6 pm and you do have to order in advance if you want a specific cake. They also have gelato and small pastries so definitely worth checking out! read more
My boyfriend, his brother and I stopped by here to grab some gelato after a day at the convention in the city. The line wasn't too long but it was still busy, 30 minutes before close. We got to experiment and try so many flavors, so they were still patient and not too upset with us coming in. The whopper malt was absolutely delicious and the horchata! My boyfriend got some fruity flavors and loved it but he regretted not getting the malt. Definitely need to come by here again when I'm in Seattle! This is probably the best gelato I've ever had! The cup is pretty small but they give you generous scoops! 10/10 for both flavors. The rice one was pretty interesting, you can taste cooked rice grains, which might be weird to imagine but it was good would come back and try the other flavors! Wish they have an option to let you try more flavors Rice 9/10 (very unique!) Salted hazelnut caramel 10/10 Blueberry lavender 8/10 (strong blueberry flavor) Raspberry 8/10 Crème brûlée 9/10 (actually taste like crème brûlée!) (I'm not a fan of sorbet usually, or lavender and I prefer creamier ice cream/gelato) read more
Daily handmade ice cream is good and cakes are good as well. Must try Rice flavor. Service is okay. If you are Asian, you probably will not experience a nice service in this store, especially with the cashier. Otherwise, everyone was nice. Note: The smallest size comes with two scoops, but you can always ask to put in two cups. read more

While walking through the streets of Seattle, my friends and I decided to stop by for some gelato. We were lead by the sweet smell of gelato and baked goods here. My friend and I decided to split a Small Cup of Gelato (~$5). We got half Strawberry and half Creme Brûlée. Both flavors were delicious and we were able to try out many flavors before deciding. I found it strange that for a cup, they didn't put the flavors side-by-side but on top of one another. It was difficult to get a good mix of them in each bite because the flavors were stacked. It would have been nice for taste and picture purposes to have them side-by-side or staggered. They do give a pretty big portion of gelato, even for a small size. Seating inside is a bit scarce and there were many people just standing around waiting for a table. Overall, Gelatiamo has good gelato that would hit the spot on any cold or hot day! read more

Excellent place to get gelato in downtown Seattle. The strawberry sorbet was flavorful and refreshing (especially on a warm day like today) and the chocolate hazelnut was amazing. However, I do not necessarily recommend getting these two flavors as two scoops in one cup because the combination of the two flavors was slightly odd. They are individually excellent though! My friend also really enjoyed the vanilla flavor. The interior was surprisingly spacious given its location. Will definitely be returning to try the coffee and some of other desserts. read more

AFAIK the only true Italian gelato in town, a Seattle institution. When I'm in downtown Seattle I find any excuse to pay a visit to Gelatiamo to get some gelato or some pastries. My favorite gelato combo, since I was a little kid, is cioccolato and stracciatella, and Gelatiamo's doesn't disappoint. I love their stracciatella and so does my daughter. There are many other awesome flavors, but I usually stick to my favs. I tried the rice gelato once and I loved it. Pastries and espresso are great too. Parking is really tough, unlikely to find any spot nearby, expect to have to park a few blocks away and then walk to the place. They're currently open for to-go orders only (covid lockdown period). Highly recommended. read more

Love love love Gelatiamo gelatos! I've only been in one other time (way long ago) but didn't remember it to be this clean and orderly, considering that they're located right on 3rd. The employees were incredibly helpful in proving generous samples as we decided what we wanted to get. All of us ended up getting a small scoop with two half flavors. I love when places allow for combined scoops! I got the peppermint and chocolate chip combined on a sugar cone and the serving was generous but not overwhelming. I loved my combination and my friends also enjoyed their choices as well. Apparently the rice flavor is a popular one & must-try. And as it's the holiday season, they have quite a few themed selection, ranging from egg nog to peppermint. They also have diary-free options for those who have dietary restrictions. They also have a large display of cakes and other desserts, which I will definitely have to come back and try! read more

a nice and almost upscale atmosphere with good service. I got the rice gelato and passion fruit gelato which you can't see because it's under the rice scoop but both were soooo good. the rice gelato especially was good because there were small grains of rice within the gelato that gave it such a nice and surprising texture. I would recommend that flavor if you want to try something new! read more
A pretty modern and hip/trendy looking gelato shop with some uppity pastries and candies that are pretty overpriced, but you should just come here for the gelato. It's simple, creamy, decent stuff. We ordered the coconut, chocolate, cappuccino, and cherry flavors. A small with two flavors and a medium with two flavors for under $10. They all had subtle flavors, nothing that "popped" or made you go wow but it was simply decent gelato. read more
I visited Seattle for three days and this was my favorite dessert place! They have a good selection of flavors and their most well known one is the rice pudding. The flavor is subtle and grows on you so it's a must try! It has bits of rice mixed in, very cool and def something I've never seen before in a gelato flavor. If you love rice pudding in general, then you'll enjoy it. I got a scoop of blackberry to go with my rice pudding and the tangy fruit flavor balances out the rice pudding very well. Highly recommend the combo if you're not big on super sweet flavors like me. I was walking around in 45 F degrees weather with my gelato that day. My hands were freezing and I couldn't really feel my face but it was worth it. Never too cold to have gelato, right?! But if you're more sensible with decision making than I was, try their hot drinks like the hot chocolate. My friend got it and it was rich and tasty, perfect on a chilly day. read more

Gelato is one of my vices, and as a result whenever I'm in a city I'm less familiar with it's the second thing I seek out only behind tacos. Gelatiamo showed a whole lot of promise given the Yelpy consensus, and while it was good and the service couldn't have been nicer, the gelato itself didn't entirely blow me away. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Gelatiamo has some serious real estate especially for a gelato shop, but the service here outshines the space. The woman behind the counter couldn't have been nicer and was generous with the portions. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? To my surprise, $4.50 got me a small where I mixed vanilla and strawberry cheesecake, which was a surprisingly low price point. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Also to my surprise, this gelato was just okay. I can't quite put a finger on it, but it almost felt overfrozen and lacked the whipped lightness that makes gelato so appealing. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? One other thing that I'll point out is that while I was able to pretty quickly land on some good flavors, Gelatiamo lacked some of the classics that I was looking for like caramel or cookies and cream. Not a huge deal, but it did give me some pause when thinking through whether in the future I'd be excited to come back versus seeking out another gelato shop in town. No Star. read more
Let me start by saying that I really don't know much about gelato. In fact, I don't remember the last time I even had it before this past weekend. But as we were walking past Gelatiamo for the bajillionth time, we noticed there was no line--and no one there! YES! So we took to the rare opportunity to get some walking gelato and holy mother of god am I glad we did. I got a small portion in a waffle cone and so did my fiance. It includes two pretty generous sized scoops. So I chose the mango and strawberry. My fiance got the blueberry lavender and the raspberry. Honestly, I didn't get to try his but I totally understood because once I tasted mine, I did NOT want to share. The texture of both flavor was smooth and creamy, yet bright and refreshing. The flavors were so on point, perfectly sweet and a little tart. So damn good. The waffle cone was good too, but I was there for the gelato, sooooo... I can't wait to come back here on the weekends for some walking gelato! I'm officially addicted. read more

I have to say this is one of the best gelato shops I have been to outside of Italy! Ive been wanting to try this place for a while now (I pass it on my way to work everyday!) and finally decided to stop by on a hot summer day last week, walking through downtown in the scorching heat. I must say that they have a good assortment of items - cakes, cannoli, gelato and some other good-looking pastries. I tried their rice gelato (which tasted like rice pudding - SO good) and their chocolate gelato (a decadent chocolatey flavor). Both were amazing! I give 4 out of 5 because it was very pricey, a little more than I think it's worth - I paid $5 for the smallest cup! But this place is definitely worth trying :) read more

This is their most popular flavor and their best flavor. The little bits of rice just make the texture so nice and contrasts the smooth gelato so well. 2. Lots of flavors to try if you don't like rice. All the servers are super nice and will let you sample plenty of their amazing gelato. 3. Right by pike place; so you can grab a free mug at Storyville and then stop by here for the perfect morning. Reasons not to go... 1. This is our favorite bakery in town. We have been their loyal customers since 2010. We get all our birthday cakes here! Or cakes for just any occasion! We especially love their gelato cakes.They are not only beautiful and elegantly decorated, but also very delicious! They can customize different gelato flavors for the cakes as well as size of the cakes. Some of our favorite gelato flavors are: Strawberry, raspberry, pistachio, passion fruit, mango, cantaloupe, passion fruit, vanilla, rice, salted caramel and hazelnut! Some of the flavors are seasonal. Besides gelato, we also liked their tiramisu, ricotta cheese cake and strawberry jam/apricot jam cookies. Staffs are generally friendly and helpful. read more
Came here for a nice dessert after eating some sushi. When I first arrived I was surprised by how central this location was - I must have walked past this place a dozen times but this was the first time I noticed this place! They had a nice selection of gelato flavors and apparently their rice gelato is their most popular! It reminds me a lot of kheer which is an indian rice pudding (which makes sense). I ultimately wanted the tiramisu gelato but was torn because I was also craving a cake! Thankfully, they have the best of both and had a tiramisu cake with tiramisu gelato in it! Perfect! Overall the ambiance was nice, gave a city like feel to a upscale gelato place. Service was superb, the server brought my order to me even though I didn't expect her to. This place was so so so so soooo good. I absolutely love sweets, especially ice cream/froyo/gelato and this place got it HANDS DOWN. Nailed it. Swung by on a whim and tried 2 fruity flavors (lemon and strawberry) and 2 milky flavors (pistachio and chocolate hazelnut) and all 4 were so good! Service: 5 The worker behind the counter was so patient as I was super indecisive between all the flavors omg. I think I sampled like 5 and she was still so happy and helpful. She then scooped our icecreams into chilled bowls and brought them out to us when we were sitting Food: 5 WOW EVERYTHING SO GOOD AND YUMMY. The pistachio is to DIE FOR. The chocolate hazelnut tastes exactly like the ferrero rocher chocolates. They are the perfect amount of smooth creamy goodness ever. The fruity flavors were really refreshing and the lemon was super tangy, i loved it! We also got a piece of the tiramisu and it was less sweet than the gelato, but i liked it enough. It wasn't super rich but it's a gelato place so.. Atmosphere: 4.5 There is definitely limited seating (but it might have just felt that was on a saturday afternoon) but it is super clean and they always pick up your bowls and stuff occasionally! read more
Super cute gelato cafe with tons of awesome artisanal flavors. A small cup is two scoops and you are free to sample and choose a variety of flavors. I opted for the salted chocolate almond and the raspberry sorbet and the consistency of the gelato was super smooth and rich with flavor. In addition to the gelato there are coffee options and if you want both, opt for their awesome affogado. Can't wait to try all of their other flavors as the weather gets warmer! Some of the cool funky flavors ranged from rice, horchata, red velvet, mango, and tons of other seasonal flavors. read more
A popular gelato place in downtown area and finally got a chance to try it! It's not the best I've had but it's pretty good. I ordered a small cup with pistachio and chocolate flavor. The gelato is creamy and I particularly like the chocolate flavor as it tastes like cold and melted dark chocolate bar and it's less sweet than most of the options. The pistachio flavor was pretty strong for the first few bites but the sweetness dominates over it as I ate more. I've also tried the hazelnut one, which is pretty popular according to reviews, but it's too sweet for me, and so does the tiramisu flavor. In general it's a little bit sweeter than I thought but it's still decent. For a small cup you can choose two flavors and it's $5ish. Will come back to try more flavors! read more
Still pretty impressed by their gelato! We got a rice gelato and it was so good. I know it sounds weird but it reminds me of this Asian rice pudding dessert! Had little pieces of mashed up rice too, so had a fun texture. read more

Ok, so this is probably a little backwards, but I discovered I like rice pudding because of this rice pudding flavor gelato. The flavor itself is simply called Rice. While eating the gelato, you get a little chew from the bits of rice. There isn't much, because it's the smooth gelato consistency after all, but the little chew here and there makes for a satisfying dessert. 5 stars - Tiramisu flavor gelato. I asked what flavor would complement the rice flavor best, and they recommended tiramisu. They were so right because it was so good! It tasted just like tiramisu. One of my favorite desserts to go with a newly discovered dessert. What a pair. It's been a couple days and I keep thinking about when I can go back. So do I go with the perfect pair or find a new flavor combo?? Hmmmm. read more
