I'm a tart guy so any flavors with that index has my heart. My fiancée's gear leans more towards the sweet side of the moon. Glad that you can order a small cup and they will mix and match different flavors for you. Glad that sampling and back and you can freely try various of flavors before committing to taste. A word of caution is parking. Can be tricky and you may have to park a bit far. Nonetheless, its Coronado. What better way then to go for a walk, grab some cold treats, and cruise along the beach. The staff is friendly, an array of gelato but gave a 1 for cleanliness and because they keep the kids size cup out of sight . Unless you know or ask if they have another size will they inform you of a kid's size cup, I found that deceptive. They have the three larger size cups on display except for the kids cup. Laguna Beach location doesn't do that and it's a lot cleaner they should share tips. If you just want a frozen dessert go to MooTime it's all around a better experience and worth the wait in line. read more

Such a dreamy creamery. Does it get any better than a frozen treat near the beach? I came here after enjoying a picnic at the beach looking for a sweet treat before heading back across the bridge. The lemon was one of the best I've ever had! Service was friendly and the line was long, but moved quickly! They had a few spots open for seating, but that whole corner is a little crowded (at least when I've been on weekends) so I took mine across the street. I give this a 3/5 stars but my family says I'm way too harsh with these ratings so they asked to be able to include their opinions in this review so see below. This is a gelato place which was open later on a Saturday so my family stopped by after our dinner. Each of my five member family ordered a regular waffle cone (which allows for up to three flavors!). If you get the cup, you can have up to four. And there sure is a variety. My dad ordered only espresso. Bold move since he didn't even try it beforehand, but he proclaimed it was very delicious and he'd give it a 5/5. My mom ordered the salted caramel, espresso and the blackberry chocolate chip. She enjoyed all the flavors and especially the salted caramel. She noted that the cone was thick and kind of tasteless which docked a point. 4/5 My brother ordered just the mango. He said "it's gelato, it's good" so we'll say 5/5 for him even though I think he might've said the same for any form of sweet treat we buy to him. My sister ordered the mint chip, cookies and cream, and s'mores. She said it didn't taste like that much. 3/5 I ordered the salted caramel, strawberry chocolate chip and the chocolate hazelnut. I agreed with my mom that the cone wasn't that good - felt like something you might pull out of a box at a grocery store. The chocolate hazelnut was pretty disappointing for me but the salted caramel was decent. Personal option: 2/5 but I may have just got the wrong flavors. It's Coronado so you expect to pay these prices, but I was hoping the quality would be a bit better. But again, maybe look to my family members' thoughts for a less critical review:) read more

On my wekeend trip in Coronado, I stopped by this place 3 times. This is such a great gelato and sorbet place. My absolute favorite is Lemon, it is so tangy and refreshing. I've been looking for a good lemon sorbet and this place checked off. Other flavors are good too, chocolate, mint, coffee, pistachio. Small cup is $5 but you get 4 flavors and they give big scoops. Had an incredible experience at Gelato Paradiso! So fun and inviting. Cute little shop in the heart of Coronado. Easy to find on the main street, Orange Ave. Turquoise tables decorate the outdoor area. You can sit and watch people go by while you enjoy the amazing gelato. I was surprised at how many different flavors they had. I tried four of them: double chocolate, hazelnut, mango sorbet, and coconut. Almost all of their 30 flavors are eggless - but they're so decadent and flavorful and creamy. They have a flavor of the month that rotates every month, and the only egg based gelato they have is the Lemon Bar (which was this month's flavor of the month). I chose a cone with three flavors - coffee, blackberry chocolate chip (their most popular tied with pistachio) and dulce de leche. I can see why the blackberry chocolate is their popular one! The tang from the beer and the richness from the chocolate, and the crunch from the chocolate chip! I can't put much more into words than it's definitely worth the hype. We have been a HUGE fan of Gelato paradiso for years, and we frequent the other locations in OC and SD. Latest visit was super disappointing. Came here recently and the lady that worked at the counter was unpleasant. Last week I had gone to the location in Laguna Beach and had a very nice pleasant experience. But coming to this location is very inconsistent. The 3 different cup sizes are much smaller than the one in Laguna Beach. We got to the shop and was told that the medium size is not available. When we asked why, the counter lady told us they don't have lids and all things have to have lids on them. Ok, fair enough. So we opted for the large size, the cup size is less than half of the cup size at the Laguna location. We got 4 different flavors in the large size cup and she proceeded to give it to us without lids. Which was very weird because the whole point was to have lids? She was also very impatient and did not want to answer our questions regarding the different flavors. When we went to pay, we wanted to use the Yelp check-in offer and she gave us major attitude because it's an extra step in the check-out process. Overall the service was terrible and the size is significantly smaller than the other locations. I would NOT recommend this location. read more

Still open during the covid pandemic, came here and got a quart of gelato ($20). You can choose up to 2 flavors, i chose strawberry cheesecake and double chocolate. There were so many options to choose from it was difficult to pick just 2. Some other flavors that i contemplated were peanut butter, caramel and coconut. What i was hopping they'd have was popcorn which I've tried once, it's phenomenal, but maybe it was just a flavor of the month type deal, as i don't see it on their website. The gelato here is smooth and has a very pungent flavor. They have both chocolate and double chocolate the difference is the double chocolate has thin curls of dark chocolate mixed in. I think some of it melts into the gelato and makes it a bit darker than the regular chocolate, i also like that the chocolate pieces are very thin so they melt on your tongue as you eat them. I would describe the double chocolate as a chocolate lovers chocolate. I wanted a complementing flavor to go with the chocolate, and ended up with strawberry cheese cake. It very much taste like cheesecake, with a strawberry ribbon going thru it, it was a great complement to the chocolate. At this time they are also selling cups (no cones), as everything sold has to have a lid on it. Because of the pandemic situation they are also not handing out samples. If you like chocolate, you can't go wrong with double chocolate, no sample necessary! Take home a pint or quart; Just a nice treat to make staying at home a little more tolerable! read more

However, Gelato Paradiso is one of my favorite dessert restaurants and I'm saddened to see the negative trend the Coronado location is currently experiencing and it would behoove the owner or manager to make changes immediately! Here's the honest truth...Gelato Paradiso located on Coronado Island has the best gelato and sorbet in San Diego County! Here is the hurtful truth...Gelato Paradiso has steadily declined in customer service over the past few months. Gelato Paradiso used to be a great dessert spot for families and friends to hangout and enjoy a nice cup of ice cream after watching a movie or eating dinner on island or before heading home after sightseeing around local San Diego. My family and I visited the spot last Saturday (18MAR2023) and this evening, (24MAR2023) . I don't know who is managing this location right now, but on both occasions every single flavor selection was empty at 8:45pm. I asked the servers behind the counters if they'll be bringing out more from the back. We could clearly see more ice cream of various flavors thru the large window facing the front service area, sitting in the freezers and on the counters. These geniuses said "no, we're out of ice cream and we're closing". WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS?? IT'S THE WEEKEND!!! I've been going to Gelato Paradiso for well over 5 years. Most of the time they would see a surge in patrons during the evening hours. The store has always had long lines, with welcoming and friendly servers who scooped ice cream with a smile, all the way up to 9:59pm when the store was scheduled to close on weekends. I understand when employees want to start breaking down for the night and begin the clean up process before the store closes. However, it is totally unacceptable to put all of your product in the back area and tell your patrons that all of the ice cream is sold out, an hour before closing! Just because you want to clock out directly at 10pm when the store closes, so you can go hangout with your friends? Give me a break and cry us a river! Typically, I've seen a group of young women working the counters over the years. They regularly demonstrated patience, good organization skills, and great energy during their shifts. Recently, there are two or three young men working together during the late shifts on weekends and they are driving customers away with their lazy behavior, constant horseplay and clear disregard for the "operating hours". Its sad to see stereotypical behavior proven true by the youngsters in GEN-Z. If you don't want to work or earn money as young adults, then stop wasting the customer's time, the manager's time, and ultimately your own time...and just quit! Go back to mommy and daddy's crib and try living off of them for the next several years! Tell me how that works out for you during this economy! Sheesh... Reminds me of a high class frozen lemon cup from Disneyland Forest Fruit - this was described as a mixed berry flavor... pretty good description. Could have been more flavorful in my opinion but still good. Strawberry - sweet and refreshing! You can get up to 4 flavors so I got Vanilla, Dulche de Leche, Cookies n Cream, and Forrest Fruit as four flavors. Price is not too bad for about $4-5 for that size and with many flavors.
