This is a small quaint family friendly restaurant, the food was amazing the flavors were ever present and very authentic Italian cuisine. Our waiter was excellent funny and friendly and very attentive. Will definitely be returning for another meal soon!

This place was founded in 1919 so, needless to say it is a remarkable piece of NY history still functional and kicking. Old school Italian (Continental cuisine) reminiscent more of Hollywood Italian bars and hideouts rather than rustic countryside food. Convivial friendly but small bar at the entrance and a cushiony comfortable warm spacious interior They also have outdoor seating when the weather permits. The staff is super friendly and efficient On a Friday at 8 we didn't have to wait for a table for two. I had the baked Ziti which was surprisingly good because it initially looked loaded with cheese but actually it did not feel overwhelming at all. The eggplant is scant or rather just the right amount. The ravioli is super tasty and feels home made entirely The cheesecake is just the right amount of sweetness (not overly sweet like most American cheesecakes are) and granular and again tastes like someone has just made a small batch in their kitchen at home. The relish plates and the bread which they bring out is a classic. I'd definitely come back

We have a very good dinner here. We were able to walk in with no wait on a Thursday night. The menu has a lot of classic Italian items but also some different options which is nice. The chicken parm was delicious as was the chicken liver appetizer.

Great food and ambiance. Cozy bar! The service was excellent and efficient. Great martini too!

Shrimp Fra Diablo. Not extremely tasty.

Most of the stars are for the excellent wait staff, service and ambiance. Gene's is old school Italian New York in the best way. Unfortunately that usually means the food is just okay. If you grew up going to Gene's I'm sure you think it's amazing. I thought all my dishes were typical family style restaurant fare. Seasoning and flavor profiles from decades past. Nothing really elevated. Would I come back again and again? Absolutely! This place is charming as hell!

The limoncello was simply divine, and the spaghetti Bolognese and short rib ravioli were both out of this world--rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Then came dessert... the ricotta cheesecake literally knocked it out of the park. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable dining experience. Then there was our waiter, Cem, he had a great presence, was very knowledgeable, and treated us like royalty! He made the entire experience worth coming back for. The menu has plenty of variety across pastas, seafood, and cocktails, with some unique dishes that made the experience memorable. The drinks were a highlight, and the seafood options stood out the most for me. My Tipsy Tayke: The Fragola Fizz was juicy, fruity, and refreshing. The Forever Summer was another standout, with the smokiness of the mezcal blending really well with the fruit flavors without overpowering them. Both are easy recommendations depending on whether you want something fruity or a little more complex. My Taysty Tayke: Get Down & Dirty, Expeditiously: Seafood Ravioli Unique, flavorful, and packed with different seafood flavors. The ravioli itself was delicate and had a tendency to fall apart, but the flavor made up for it. Standout: Calamari Crispy, seasoned, and enjoyable. It had a slightly chewy texture, but I still found myself going back for more. The Carpaccio wasn't necessarily for me texture-wise, but I really enjoyed the greens and dressing that accompanied it. The garnish felt intentional and helped bring the dish together. The Pappardelle came with plenty of sauce but could have used more flavor overall. The complimentary bread was also tougher and chewier than I prefer. Desserts: The Lemon Sorbet was easily my favorite dessert. Bright, refreshing, and packed with real lemon flavor. The Mango Sorbet was another refreshing option with a smooth tropical sweetness. The Panna Cotta Cheesecake leaned closer to a mousse in texture and was definitely on the sweeter side. I especially enjoyed it with the cherry, which helped balance everything out. Service: Warm and attentive throughout the meal, fitting the inviting atmosphere. Plates From My Visit: Calamari Carpaccio Seafood Ravioli Pappardelle Lemon Sorbet Mango Sorbet Panna Cotta Cheesecake Fragola Fizz Forever Summer In Conclusion: A warm Chelsea Italian spot with strong cocktails, unique seafood dishes, and refreshing desserts. The Seafood Ravioli was the highlight of the savory side, but whatever you do, save room for that Lemon Sorbet. Stamped by Elajas

We started off with a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic mixed drinks which were all rated good by the drinkers. We ordered a mix of appetizers - the caramelized onion & cheese torta was a table favorite, as was the salad which had a perfectly balanced tangy dressing. We also enjoyed the smashed cucumbers. Next we got a selection of pastas, the guanciale was a favorite and we also enjoyed the rabbit and crab pasta. Entrees were the steak, a good sized portion, grilled chicken on the bone and an excellent pork Milanese with anchovy sauce on the side. We ended our meal with a lemon torta, basque cheesecake and an espresso dark chocolate cake - which was more like a sorbet but nevertheless delicious. Our server gave us great suggestions, including going for a family style meal and did not rush us making this a memorable meal.

It was deboned fish stuffed with the mustard greens and there was an overwhelming wasabi flavor to it. Also it was very dry and seemed burnt. The server was very inattentive and we had to flag him down to get anything. This reminded me of eating at an Olive Garden but with way worse food
