I really like this place. The reason being is that they always give you extra noodles. Other places just put noodle on top of your meats and vegetables and that is it. But, here they give you more noodles than ever. The combo deal is worth it. Why? because for just a dollar more than an entree you get one rice, hot soup, and a soft drink. At other mall, they charged you more for rice, soup, and coke. IMO, I think the cooker that cooks your noodle tend to favor people. If the cooker like you, they will give you more noodle. I used to eat it every time I went to the mall while ignoring the fact that they don't clean the grill and the "sticks" they use to "cook" the meat are all kept in a trash can. Love this place but there is always a long line! They give you an empty bowl and you fill it up with anything you want to include in your stir fry. I love the variety and the options. Lots of veggies to pick from as well as sauces. After filling your bowl to the brim you take it to the stir fry masters and they throw it onto their huge grill. I love Mongolian BBQ. Period. I've been coming here longer than I can remember and it has always been consistently filling my craving. The prices have gone up a little, the cashiers are always pushy and rude, it seems less and less sanitary, and the line is always long. Yet I can't help it! It's cheap, and most of all, delicious. I always just get the plate because it's enough food for me (plus I've heard the rice and soup aren't all that great), and it comes out to ~$7. There is: beef, chicken, pork, turkey, and then tomatoes, cilantro, cabbage, bean sprouts, green peppers, broccoli, mushroom, onions, and carrots. They always give you extra noodles and I get it spicy with garlic! The cooks are always super nice and do a great job. Add some white sesame seeds and some Sriracha on the side? Golden! read more

It's one of my favorite treat when i go to Brea mall. I'm a big fan of their noodle too! Meat quality is very good and all spices are heavenly. I really don't like the soup that comes along when you order combo meal. Just go for plate and a small drink. One thing i really hate about this place is they use the cheapest Styrofoam to-go box EVER. I love this place inside Brea Mall! Located in the mall's food court (2nd floor next to Macy's Mens, Children, and Home Store), this place always have one of the longest line. I guess people prefer Mongolian-style chow mein over the Chinese. There are only a few things on the menu and everyone usually orders the same thing. You get in line, pay for your noodle bowl, and off you go! You are given a bowl to fill with the things you want in your stir-fried noodle: types of meat (beef, chicken, pork, turkey) and veggies (cabbage, baby corn, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, etc...). Once you reach the end of the "buffet" line, the "chef" will take your bowl and ask you if you want garlic in your noodles (yes for me!) and if you want the seasoning to me mild, medium, or spicy. The chef will then stir-fry your meal right in front of you-- Mongolian style! The portions always turn out a lot bigger than I expect and I usually have to take the rest to go. As you are waiting, you can grab a take-out bag, extra sauces, and utensils, which are located right at the end of the line. Tips: -Choose pieces of meat that are flat because they won't take up as much room. Also, carefully stack all of the items i your bowl... it takes practice and skills, but you'll find yourself regretting how little broccoli you have in the end if you won't just pile everything into your bowl. -Don't feel rushed either. The buffet-style line is cramped, but take your time because trust me, you are a paying customer. -Also, don't feel bad if you want to try and ask your "chef" to add a bit more noodle (or other topping) to your creation after he throws your bowl onto the grill. If you are in the mall, this is probably the best walk up restaurant to eat at! The proof is the 20-30 minute line that comes at no additional charge! I personally love Mongolian BBQ! The only issue that I have with this place is that they usually add a little portion of noodles for me, which forced me to tip them if I want "extra" noodles. For mall food, this is pretty fair. I like being able to custom make my meal, and after cramming as much meat and vegetables into a small bowl, I can honestly say I have a guilty pride for being able to get max food. The mystery here is that even though I ask for little or no oil, the bottom of my food container is oil soaked. Must be the meat. The food's good, and it's a lot of eats for the $$$. The one thing that gets me is that I don't really like the often times rude cashier that won't make eye contact, shoves your change into your hand or puts it onto the tray or counter. The best part about this place is that you can enjoy the food here on a normal day AND on a cheat day. Genghis Khan is one of the first things you smell when you walk through the food court so it's hard not to think about mongolian bbq. As a matter of fact, keep your eyes closed when you walk through and you'll probably end up at Genghis Khan. The service here is pretty quick. We usually share one and pack the bowl pretty good. We can get a pretty good meat and veggie mountain going. On cheat days, they'll give us extra noodles. They make it tasty and spicy. They give you a plate and you pile it up with as much frozen proteins/veggies/sauces as you can and then the cooks prepare and cook it for you before your eyes. The portions are large enough that the left overs last me at least one extra meal of not two! First timers should note that once you add veggies they do the rest. I made the silly mistake of adding my own noodles before realizing my mistake when I saw the person after me wait. She got twice the amount I was able to fit when the cooks did it for her. Not sure how in the hell I haven't written a review for this place. Been coming here 10 years, ever since working in the Brea Mall. Always great service, fresh vegetables, good meat, and great food. Huge portions, defiantly recommend sharing. We get a combo of the meats. They offer beef, chicken, turkey, and pork. Vegetables, almost every single one you can imagine. Topped high with possibly the best noodles and seasoning combo. Everything is grilled on a flat round grill. These guys are troopers and grill experts. They work the food around the grill so it doesnt stick or burn adding water, oils and seasonings to allow the steam to speed things up a bit. Seriously my favorite place to eat. Only place that always has a line, especially on the weekend. Come hungry, and don't forget to tip. The cooks are melting next to that grill they deserve it. read more

There's nothing like watching your food being made in front of you and eating it steaming hot. If you come here during lunch or near evening, expect a very long line as they are very popular compared to the other food places in the court. I was so sad when the Mission Viejo mall axed Gengis Khan for chipotle of all things! I was working an event at Nordstrom and saw there was one here and could not wait for my lunch time. One thing I did notice is their bowls are smaller than others but the same price? okay.... I'll just mash as much as I can into this small bowl. It ended up being a lot of food. Easily enough for 2 to split. But missing this food so much I devoured almost all of it. The person behind the register hoards the Sriracha so ask for it while ordering. I didn't know this since I'm used to it being at the end. So I had to stand there with my piping hot food waiting for someone to let me in line so I could ask for it. I know it's liquid gold, but totally inconvenient to not just have it at the end with the soy sauce and sesame seeds. They also use very cheap forks that almost melt with your food. Meh. I wish they could lay down some aluminum in the bottom of the container because yeah... the styrofoam is probably leaching cancer into my food. YUM! read more

Pretty good stuff. Not the best meat, but pretty good deal. I love going to this place and trying my best to pack the bowl. For the classic bowl combo, they give you a bowl, napkin, and a drink. Using the napkin, push the meat as hard as you can, and stuff as much meat until it's at the tip of the bowl. Make a perimeter of the top of the bowl with mushrooms and broccoli. This acts as another inch of the bowl. Then u put all yours veggies and goodies, and u give it to them and just ask them to throw in some noodles. These guys wont care, they'll throw in the noodles happily with a smile. Make sure to tip them though! Watching them cook it is always a treat. Eat it with some sriracha sauce though! 3.5 read more

My gf & I love eating at "the drum" as we like to call Gengis Khan. The sliced meat are flavorful & the veggies are fresh. You get to pick what combination you can fit into a bowl. I've got it down where I can stack enough for me & my gf. =) then you decide how you want it seasoned (mild, with lots of garlic for me!) noodles are added & the cooks with the giant chopsticks stir fry your meal. It does not take long before he hands you this hot, delicious meal for 2 (In my case anyway) So why only for stars? I always get the combo, includes the meal, small soda, rice & soup. For a dollar more this is a good deal. The soup & rice, because they're pre-packaged in styrofoam containers, is only lukewarm. and the selection does not compare to YC's, (located in Scottsdale, Arizona). They have a whole section just for the sauces & oils for you to try different flavor combinations! But since Scottsdale is such a long drive, we go here to get our Mongolian barbecue fix! read more

I used to come here pretty often back when I was working in the mall. Often to the point where the cashier and chef actually knew me by name. Now not so much since I do not work in the mall anymore and been trying to save money. But decided to stop by here yesterday after visiting some friends that were working in the mall. And it looks like the management and/or policy has change. One they don't allow you to press down the meat down anymore (they literally have some one watching you now.) and Two the chefs can't give extra noodle anymore. I happen to know the chef cooking my food when was I there yesterday he pretty much had to sneak the noodle over. And yeah I honestly do not understand why they need to use these tactics since they are one of busiest joint in the food court throughout the day. Disgusting and unsanitary with serving tongs lying directly on top of food (as in inside the bin as opposed to propped up), contaminating items with germs. Except for the cashier workers were rude and rushed me, dumping sauce and condiments into my bowl instead of letting me customize it (I had to raise my voice to stop them). My go to spot in the brea mall for sure- probably in all of Brea. There's always a long line - which means the veggies are fresh and don't sit out for very long. Whatever sauce they put on really is flavorful and sets this joint apart from the others. If you're trying to eat healthier, I usually get no noddles and easy sauce. YUM. read more

I came here for the first time. Only to get disappointed I have cross contamination phobia I observed people getting raw meat and placing it into a clean bowl. And then putting cooked food back into the same bowl that contained the raw meat. Ummm so how discussing and sick and health department violations is that? I figured it was bomb just because of the line. After standing in line for about 20 minutes, I finally ordered. You can buy a bowl and stuff it with any of the items which include beef, pork, chicken, or turkey and a bunch of veggies (cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, baby corn, broccoli, etc.). And they also have cilantro and things like that. Then you get a mountain of noodles with an option for spicy and garlic. I added both. Then they cook it in front of you (hence: teppanyaki). After they cook the food they throw it into a styrofoam to-go box. After watching them cook and smelling all of the flavors I expected something amazing. I was disappointed.
