My wife and I love this place. We eat here once a week. Its cheap, simple and good. We usually share our meal. They always stack on more noodle after they start cooking it. Dont worry you will have more food then you need. We usually ask for an extra scoop of garlic and peppers to give the dish some punch. You you like your food a little spicy ask for a second scoop of peppers. The guys that cook here work real hard to get you your food fast. With their big chopsticks they turn the food fast and suggest they cook it a little longer to make sure everything cooks well. We usually go after work when we are lazy to cook at home. This is my favorite food choice here in Brea mall. It really hits the spot. There's been so many food places that have come and gone, but this place simply remains for the fact that the food is really good. You pay first, then they give you a bowl to put your ingredients in. Beef & pork is what I always get. Then add mushrooms, bean sprouts and pineapples. I love spicy food so I make sure they add a good kick to it along with their garlic sweet sauce. They'll stir fry it up in front of you then in a to go container it goes. The smell just hits you once they hand you the container. I like to top it off with sesame seeds as well. You can't just go to your local Chinese wok and ask for chow mein, it's just not the same. The thickness of the noodles and how it's not so sticky is what I love the most. Then the flavor kicks in and I don't what happens, but it's all gone before I know it. The spices and sauces are never overpowering. It compliments each other well. Since I've been coming to this place for 10 years, and will continue to come, that probably means this place deserves 5-star in my book. But I do have some comments. First, I don't need to describe what it is. Everyone has described it in detail. But at regular lunch and dinner time, the line is always long. The long line used to block the eatery to the left of it, but for few years now they have this rope separating it. So yes, you would have to wait, and people generally move slow thru the lines, and especially slow if they clean the grill. Long time ago (maybe 5-10 years ago), the single-bowl price was $7.99, and they had a combo deal (with rice, soda, soup) for $1 more. Recent years, right before the renovation, the single-bowl price was $8.99, and combo was $9.99. I thought the combo deal, for $1 more, was pretty good deal. But now after the renovation, they increase the single-bowl price to $9.99 and got rid of combo deal. You'd have to pay separate for them. Just like everything else, their prices have gone up too. I recall before, when they cook, they will automatically grab more noodles, regardless if you tip of not. So they perform first, then some people tip. Now, most of them don't automatically grab more noodles. If you ask, they will give you. Certainly, if you tip (and show them you are tipping) they will add more noodles. So basically, its $1 more for more noodles. One of the best thing here is the taste. I've been to many Mongolian BBQ places, and this place has a very good taste. For those who say there's not enough taste to it, just tell them to add more sauces. Also, I have gotten some sauces afterwards to add in, still tastes good. Yes, they take the bowl and add sauces for you (probably because some sauces are far from the counter line) and add noodles, then they give you back the bowl. Reason they don't take it directly to cooking is the curved counter line is on the outside, so you'd have to carry the bowl and follow the line. Even though their prices have gone up, I will still come here, though with their price increase they are getting closer to the AYCE Mongolian BBQ places. BTW if you like Mongolian BBQ, there is a place called Big Wok in Manhattan Beach, I also highly recommend it. read more

If I'm ever in need of food while at the Brea Mall I typically find myself grabbing some Mongolian BBQ. It's good! Yes it is pricey, but it's definitely something you can share among two people. The prices have increased over the past couple of year. I believe just for the bowl, not the combo, it's about $10. You fill up your bowl with either raw beef, chicken, pork, or turkey. Then you move on to the veggies which include onions, green peppers, zucchinis, mushrooms, baby corn, and a couple of other options. The last station is the sauce station. Luckily, they already choose the sauces for you, but they do ask if you want garlic and/or any spice on your food. The lines can get pretty long, so just be prepared to wait. Yes, the cooks TYPICALLY give you more noodles if you tip them. The food is good compared to other Mongolian BBQ locations. The downside is they do typically stare while you're preparing your bowl. I guess they don't want you pressing on your food with a napkin. You'll notice a couple of people doing this just to add extra food to their bowl. Smart, but prepare yourself for a nasty glare from the cashier. read more

Hands down my favorite place to eat at the mall! So delicious, and very vegetarian-friendly. If you want a drink, it's actually cheaper to just buy the combo that comes with a soup and rice instead of buying a drink separately LOL. I fill up my bowl with veggies like lettuce, bean sprout, mini corn, onions, and mushrooms :D I like my bowl medium spicy with lots of garlic! I also get sriracha in separate cups to make my noodles even spicier. I just pour the cups in my bowl of noodles and stir! If you give them an extra dollar tip, the people cooking the noodles will throw on some extra noodles for you. This is perfect if you're splitting the meal with someone else! Beware of asking for too many extra noodles though, because that can take away a lot of the flavor. read more

In all seriousness, I was considering working at the Brea Mall, just so that I would be able to eat Genghis Khan everyday. I love this place. Hands down, best mall food (along with hot-dog-on-a-stick, no i didn't forget about you) I like how you can add however much you want/don't want in your bowl. On a practical sense, this is a great alternative for vegetarians as well. Also, when the people cook my food on that big round burner, my face is always as close to the plastic as I can get. I look like a ridiculous 4 year-old girl looking into a candy castle. But I'm waiting for my delicious mongolian BBQ. I ate here today and while eating my soup I came across a dead fly! Very repulsive and gross! I told the employee and showed her the fly she called the manager who told me he would gladly replace my soup. I just had half of the soup with a fly in it and you want to give me some more fly soup? No offer to buy my lunch or to come back another day... poor handling of the situation. I asked to have the owners contact information so I can let them know what happened and that the solution of giving me a replacement soup is not a viable solution and they should probably throw away the whole pot to not give any other customers who knows what... disgusting! Good food, but be aware that the line can get VERY long on the weekends. I try to stay way from this place on friday, saturday and sunday. I noticed that the people cooking the noodles on the teppan grill tend to give you extra noodles if you're a girl. I mean, it's a nice gesture but a little odd. Great food! Very similar to any Mongolian BBQ. Start with a bowl and you fill it up with meats which were not completely rock solid frozen like some other locations. Then you pick some veggies and then they add the sauces for you. But let you control how spicy and how much garlic is added to it. It comes back piping hot and ready to be demolished. I only wish they would do rice since noodles can be filling. Rice would be a fun addition but probably wouldn't cook well on the grille. read more

Not nearly as good as Great Wall on Imperial Hwy & Harbor. The bowls are small, the vegetable selection is limited, the seasonings are super basic. The rice isn't fully cooked and the "vegetable soup" is hot water with cabbage and a slice of carrot, no seasoning. One of my favorites by far, hands down! I'm a total noodles girl...More like obsessed with noodles. I just know my noodles alright. This place is super generous with their portions. Do your thing, pick out whatever veggies and meat you want, tell them you want extra garlic or spice.. No problem... And they'll double the scoop! They'll even hook it up with noodles too. Had been coming to this place for years due to prices and food quality. Now, after renovation, quality of food has gone down and prices have increased. I realize it's a business and needs to make money, but when ur food quality and service goes down, and prices increase, it's not a good trade. Great food, compared to anything else in the mall food court. It's tasty, fresh, I love how you can add whatever veggies, herbs, meat, etc you want, and that it's cooked in right in front of you. If you don't mind eating leftovers this is affordable, because you can eat twice out of it and be full. They give you more noodles for free if you want. Food speaks for itself. We always come here when visiting brea mall. Just pile on the food. There seems to be an unwritten code here. When they're cooking, give them the look...the wink...or just plain flash your cash and they'll ask if you want "more noodles". I know it's a simple gesture but it makes a world of difference and you feel special. You feel like you're in a secret society of Gengis Khan 4 Life. But don't forget...tip. The cashier is helpful but once I saw the cook sneeze against the wall I should of asked for money back. He didnt change his gloves or wash his hands afterwards..I could not eat this food and had to throw most of it away. What I could eat I ended up throwing it up. Ordered just a combo for my wife and 18mo, cuz we kinda full still. Everything was fine, took 4 forks and 2 spoon, when the cook get the food back to my tray, he touched the forks with his bare hands and started counting, "1, 2, 3, 4, too many too much" he said, then I replied, "Yeah, well" thinking its not his business how many I wanna take. Then I left him, took the tray to our table, then proceeded back to the cook area, in front of his face I took as many forks I could grab with my hand, then I left. Got the forks on the table, ended with 19 forks, then I came back to the cashier and asked for a cup of water, proceeded again to the cook area, where the cook's eyes kept aiming at me, then I took some more forks and he yelled, "hey hey !", and I put the forks on the next food court's booth, not within his reach while smiling at him. gengis khan is fantastic. It's a lil pricey (comes out to like 10.25 for noodles and a snapple) but its so worth it, its been my for sure stop at the mall for a while but im vegan now and the noodles are egg. so sad :( but definitely check it out if youre at brea! +leave the guys cooking a tip. its hot back there they have families to feed probs making minimum wage or less. its nice to do and theyll give you extra noodles ;) read more
