I've been to this place multiple times over the past few years and I always get the Original Gyro. Decent deal at $7 since it comes with a side of salad or fries. To be honest, I haven't tried a lot of other gyro places. I've been to other shawarma places (I can't tell the difference yet, SORRY) that are pretty competitive in taste, but I don't believe they come close to the price. I also called once to place an order for pick-up like 15 minutes before close and raced over to pick it up 5 minutes before they closed. I felt bad doing it, but I was really craving gyros and I respect that they were chill about it. I took my mom here and she was apprehensive at first since she wasn't big on lamb meat, but the main dude was super cool about it and gave her a free sample which she ended up liking. Well the place does not look like much from the outside or the inside for that matter! However the Gyros are actually super good, it's like the sign says "best Gyros in Arizona"! Hands down, the flavor and portion size was right on, the pita shell was fresh and everything was just really good! Stopped in for lunch one day with my granddaughter and we enjoyed the food. We shared a Gyros with the Greek salad and a side of Hummus and pita chips. The Gyro was tasty and hot and the salad was fresh with just the right amount of dressing. The hummus was good and the pitas were soft and paired well with it. Soooo good!! The chicken Cesar pita is really amazing! Fresh romaine, Cesar dressing and hot grilled chicken all on top of a warm pita. The chicken Alfredo pizza is also a delicious choice. Melted mozzarella, grilled chicken, Alfredo sauce on a pita crust. As a side: The French fries are perfectly thick! It is a clean restaurant and the customer service was courteous. I manage a business across the street from George's and I've been a patron of George's for years. As a recovering alcoholic I have made many poor life choices. Years ago I behaved rudely in their establishment, however, the owner and his wife forgave me. Since then I order fairly regularly. Last week I left my wallet and the owner went through the trouble to track me down through Facebook and eventually at work. He saved me the trouble and expense of replacing my wallet, ID and credit cards. These are good people. Their service is fantastic and so is the food. Definately a local mom and pop type shop. They have an ample menu, with a variety of items to choose from. I went with the original Gyro, and got a greek salad. I really enjoyed the salad quite a bit, and the Gyro was ample and tasty. You definately get your money's worth here! I recommend at least tryng this place, as the Gyros were worth every penny. Been seeing all the glowing remarks about this place and decided to give it a try. Got the regular gyro with fries, an order of breaded mushrooms, and a soft drink. This is a limited service style place in which you order at the counter, pay, get your own drink, and be seated. They will bring your order over to you when it's ready. The food is a very solid good. Not great, not fantastic, just plain and simple good. The gyro is standard fare with a decent amount of meat, onions, and tzatziki sauce and the french fries were cooked just right with a little browning on the edges. I'm still a little confused about the breaded mushrooms though. They waited until the whole order was done before bringing them over to our table and they were just luke warm. They are only $5.99 for an order, but you only get 9 of them. I'm willing to pay more for a decent size order, but I'm not going to get 2 orders and end up spending $12 on mushrooms. The building is old and looks like a drive-in from the 60's with a decent amount of parking. We came in after 1 p.m. in order to miss the lunch crowd and there were still several people eating. If I'm in the neighborhood and hungry, I will probably stop in again, but not go out of my way. Incidentally, the full bar is about 5 feet long with a very limited selection of adult beverages. This sets the standard for all Gyros for me. Everywhere else has to try to at least be close to George's. All fail. I can't speak to the entire menu because I can't get past the gyro and side salad. The fries look great and they do have pasta on the menu. The gyro's are the perfect blend of everything and delicious. I highly recommend them. It is a local joint and although they have tried to "up" the ambiance, it really doesn't matter. It is what it is. They are closed on Sundays. read more

I've been to George's about 4 or 5 times and I would definitely recommend them! It's one of the better gyros places I've been to in the Valley. (MVPita in East Mesa and Green Corner are pretty good as well) Their prices are better than most, the food is always fresh (slice off a spit not pulled out from a drawer) and the service is good. I haven't tried their salads yet but they look really good. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the fries aren't that good to me and the amount of meat in the sandwiches isn't that much. I grew up eating gyros all the time in Chicago and most places there put about twice the amount of meat as they do here (and all the other spots I've been to for gyros in the Valley). read more

Liked the look of the place, easy to get into and out of, and was pretty cool. There were no other people here. The gyro was totally yummy and she ate all her food, too. Service was extremely fast, and the lady at the counter helpful. I purchased two gyro sandwiches. The meat was very tender, but that is where my personal enjoyment ended. The pita bread was very doughy. When squeezed it would pinch together like it was not cooked. The meat was very very lightly seasoned to the point of only barely making out the flavor. The tzatziki sauce was sparse and also not much flavor. To me the tzatziki sauce can either make or break a gyro quite often. Tomato, a couple tiny thumb size pieces, and several onion pieces the same size. Now, there is nothing wrong with what I just mentioned, aside from the doughy pita. Many individuals prefer their gyro flavor on the lighter side and this fits that bill. I prefer a gyro with a much more robust flavor, and the pita lightly grilled. Do I feel it is worth just about $6 each? Not in anyway. This should have been priced about $5 at most. read more
